  1. Happy Birthday benscab!

  2. MY ABS LIGHT IS STAYING ON IN MY 1.8 ZETEC MONDEO 2002. DOES ANONE KNOW HOW TO TURN IT OFF OR RESET THE COMPUTER AS I HAVE MY MOT TOMORROW ( RETEST ) AND THEY FAAILED IT ON THIS LIGHT, BUT I CANT FIND ANT FAULTS OTHER THAN THE DIAGNOSTIC SAYS LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE, BUT ON TESTING THE BATTERY ITS GIVING OUT 12.5V NOT RUNNING AND 14.1V RUNNING. ANY IDEAS ANYONE ????
  3. JUST BOUGHT A 02 MONDEO ZETEC AT AUCTION, DRIVING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO SET OFF IN FIRST GEAR AS THOUGH SOMETHING WAS HOLDING THE CAR BACK. THE ABS LIGHT IS ON ALSO ( DONT KNOW IF THAT COULD BE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT ). ON ACCELERATION ESPECIALLY UPHILL THE CLUTCH SLIPS QUITE BADLY. IS IT JUST A CASE OF REPLACING THE 2 PART CLUTCH, OR IS THERE MORE TO IT, IVE HEARD TALES OF THE DREADED DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL BUT DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IF IT MEANS ANYTHING TOO, THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS BITING RIGHT AT THE VERY TOP. ANY HELP IN REDUCING REPAIR COST WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED AND THANKYOU IN ANTICIPATION OF YOUR HELP. BEN.
  4. i was told that the loud grinding noise coming from my drivers side front wheel could be a bearing that is located on/in the driveshaft and the noise is travelling down the shaft making it sound like its coming from the wheel. my question is.............. can i just buy the bearing and change that, and if so , who sells them ? or do i have to replace the full driveshaft..... new or secondhand ?? also any further help on where else this noise could be coming from would be appreciated. noise is constant, in/out of gear, clutch in/out. wheel bearings already changed, hubs changed, recent gearbox change done too. oil filled to correct level. thanks ben.
  5. hi all, im new to the forum and would really appreciate some help. i ahve a ford focus estate 1.8 diesel 2002 (02 plate). when i bought the car it needed a gearbox, so got one from the breakers yard and had it fitted. i then noticed a slight grinding noise ( constant regardless of clutch in/out, and gear engeged /not.). took it to NATIONAL TYRES for a diagnosis and they said could be the wheel bearing on drivers side front. had that changed and noise still there, national tyres then said " there was a score mark on the hub when we took it off, but we thought it would be ok. they then reluctantly agreed to change the wheel bearing under warranty if i paid for a new hub. they fitted both this morning, and lo and behold............. the noise is still there !!! they now say it is probably the diff bearing ? what is this diff bearing and how easy is it to change, also is their diagnosis correct ? any assistance on this matter would be very much appreciated, as its a lovely car to drive ( apart from this noise ). thankyou in anticipation of your help. ben.

  10. fiesta oil leak

    where is that ??
  11. my mondeos heater seems to just work as and when it wants. sometimes the temp guage needle goes up (then heater works) and sometimes needle goes nowhere (then heater doesnt work. its a 2001 51 plate 2 litre petrol.
  12. fiesta oil leak

yes... i know it sounds wierd but i think there may be a blockage somewhere in the engine causing the oil not to circulate and so pressure builds up and the oil finds the weakest point to exit ( firstly the sump gasket. then when i replaced the sump gasket it had to find somewhere else????? thats my theory anyway........ is ther any kind of oil pipes inside the engine that block up ??
  13. fiesta oil leak

just replaced rocker cover last week when i did head gasket and it wasnt leaking then???
  14. fiesta oil leak

hi all, hope someone can help me as im a real beginner with cars. 1996 1.3 fiesta started losing power on a recent journey and ended up towing it 30 miles. chabged head gasket to no avail, someone suggested a blockage in the exhaust so i tried that and pulled out a great chunk of carbon looking stuff from the cat. hey presto the power was back and car running fine. drove to bradford from bridlington with no problems apart from a slight oil leak from sump. got a new sump gasket fitted, but then leak seemed to move to the rocker gasket and got worse. seems to be pressurising somewhere does anyone have any ideas.
