  1. ok fellas just a little update that might help others out, I rang ford this morning and checked with two local motor factors, it seems that of the focus is <2007 its the 18mm version and if its 2007> its the 21mm version so if your focus is 2007 its best to maybe take out the old one and measure it just to be sure, Mine is 2009 so I have ordered the 21mm version so hopefully this information may be of some use to others if needing ball joints or suspension arms. Now the problem is getting a break in the weather to fit them lol!
  2. Ok fella's Had the MOT tonight and failed on the following: Defects: Ma 804 : Suspension Ball Joint - Worn Excessively – Offside Front Ma 815 : Wishbone - Mounting/Bushe/s Defective – Nearside front,Offside font, Rearmost a little bit gutted she failed on those but on the up side its nothing major. Just didn't have time to give car a full look over this year Plus its my first M.O.T fail in 5 years of owner ship so not bad So I have decided just to stick two new suspension arms in and that should do the job and also last a good while (although the roads out our way aren't good to any car). The reason for this is I think they come with all the front and rear bushes as well as the balljoints so makes the job a lot handier, So as I need them pretty quickly I will have to check what my local Motor factors has in the morning. I have been reading up that there are 2 sizes for the focus in terms of the ball joint collar width an 18mm and a 21mm is this true and is there any quick and easy way to find out which mine is or is it a matter of taking the ball joint out of one side and measuring it? Thanks --------------EDIT-------------- just an edit here, upon looking on europarts it seems that the 18mm is the focus without the xeons headlamps and the 21mm type is the focus with xeon headlamps. Now can anyone confirm this? also I think mine just has the normal standard halogen lamps but any information how how to tell ect is welcomed.
  3. UPDATE: Just a quick update here, The Battery arrived this evening and I have to say its was well packaged so well down eurocarparts, Its the first time buying of them for myself now and I must admit I'm impressed with the packaging and the delivery its spot on, Due to the rain here all evening I didn't get a chance to fit it but will do tomorrow. I tested it when I opened it up and it was pretty much charged so I just give it a little boost on the charger early and now its ready for action in the morning so Hopefully this does the job ok as From testing my old battery it does seems to be loosing charge even when out of car so I guess its just ran its life cycle but just over 6 years isnt bad for the original battery, so I'm not surprised its starting to play up lol!. I will post more updates tomorrow. Thanks again for all advice. Greatly appreciated.
  4. Its always good to be re re minded anyways lol! Battery ordered this morning so i will keep updated to see how it pans out. Thanks
  5. When you pop the battery terminal back on there is no major spark or anything like that out of the ordinary. I think andy is right it os the battery just coming to its end of life cycle so im gonna order that one and hoepfully it does the trick.
  6. Yes i have it safe and sound. Thanks for the reminder.
  7. Yeah weather is a let down here as well but i will pull out the umbrella if needed lol! Will order that tomorrow and get it fitted. If it done the job for yourself andy it should do well in my focus. Thanks again
  8. Is there anyway to test this just incase this is the case for me here but i think its the battery to be honest.
  9. Thanks Andy, is that the silver calcium type? I think i might order that as the price seems very good. It looks like ots a 53ah battey so probably a little bot of an upgrade to my old one.
  10. Yeah i think its the original battery. Its the ford silver calcium 43ah i think feom what i remember from the label on top. Its completely sealed and doesn't have the little peep hole. I guess i will have to get a new battery amd see how that pans out. Is there any way to test a battery disgcharge rate agaisnt what its supposed to be?
  11. Ok i need to get some advice on this one. Went to start the car after cleaning it out and it was dead. Tested the battery it said 11.0 volts. So took battery out and charged on charger untill it read full poped it bck in and all was fine. This happened again and is more regularly happening especially when doors are opened for any time peroid even short time you can watch thr multimeter volts drop until you close them. I have yested the altenator and its reading 14.37 to 14.4 but it has started to whine the last few days well i think its the alternator as its hard to pin point but the tone changes when you stick on a heavy electrical load.. So is it the battery or the alternator?? Anyfuther tests i can do with this? Thanks
  12. I wanted a Mk1 when they came out but my first focus is the mk2.5 so im gonna have go with that. love the shape and drive of the car but I do like the engines in the mk3 mainlynthe Ecoboost. I like the idea of a turbo charged petrol engine for every day use. the mk2.5 is a lovely looking car though. ford do have some of the nicest looking cars on the road today.
  13. Thanks Baggiejames
  14. Yeah this is exactly where mine is broke. I think i will try the junilee clips as i might have a few lying somewhere. If its secured enough it should be ok for MOT. Thr rest of the exhaust is in good condition so just that little bit to sort out. Thanks again
  15. i had a little incident this evening.driving home I got a bit of fencing wire and it got caught in exhaust and broke the very last rear bracket. I'm raging to has I have mot in 5 days and wont have time to get it welded. the whole exhaust is 100% fine and its only the little bar that comes of the pipe to the rubber mount that is broke. I saw these in my local auto parts http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Exhaust-Round-Band-Hanger-2-Stainless-Steel-Adjustable-Bracket-Bomb-/262581687591?hash=item3d23169527:g:irYAAOSwHoFXtDew and was wondering would they work OK and pass the mot. them seem to fit around the pipe and then pop into the rubber mount so they look like they do the same job but just wanted to check on here first. They have different sizes so need to get the actual pipe diameter first but im sure even the 2 inch one could be altered to fit ok. Thanks
