Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hi all, Can anyone tell me if a Primus IQ will work off the break switch. The instructions show 12 volts in and tap onto the dead side of the switch so when the pedal is pressed the voltage is read and the unit powers the caravans breaks. The problem is the voltage at the Mondeo switch is only 7.4 volts and I cannot find any electrical specs on the Primus, have emailed to company but to date no reply. The other way that may work tho I would like to avoid this due to having to run a wire from rear to front, is tap off the Britex power unit ECU running the towbar plug (this by-passes the problem of the computer indication a fault when connecting the caravan) What do you think Thanks
  2. Mk3 Rear Bumper Removal

Hello, I just added a towbar to my mk3 yesterday with help from this post. I live down under and assuming the cars are all the same around the world the following is how I did it. Behind the rear wheels are 3 x screws (rear end side of arch, they are a 6 star screw head, i used a small ratchet and screw head)....remove these. I have a hatch back so in mine open the hatch and next to the tail lights are 2 screws one on each side....remove these. Now slid under the rear of the car and you will see 2 x plastic push on screws holding the bottom of the bumper....remove these. While your under the car locate the connector for the rear parking sensors (mine was on the drivers side) this will slide off its support and unclip this. That’s it, now go to one wheel arch and lift up the bumper with force then pull the upper part away from the car, do the same with the other side and the whole thing will come off. Good luck
