Thanks, I've cleaned the connector and I'm fairly sure it's not that as the OBD reader shows the temp sensor reading rising nicely and the problem is happennning from cold now. Also I still can't fathom how it only happens when touching the clutch EVEN with the clutch sensor removed.
1.4 Zetec is misfiring badly / cutting out when the clutch pedal is even lightly depresssed a couple of centimeters. This only happens when the engine has reached full running temperature and is perfect until then. The strange thing is, I've tried removing the clutch sensor at the top of the pedal and both shorting the contacts or leaving them open circuit but the ECU still knows when I touch the clutch. Is there another sensor??
