  1. Titanium vs Zetec S

A no brainer - the Titanium X top of the range choice is more luxurious, has better specification and looks more attractive, a real gem and with 125bhp, sensors to front and rear and 17" wheels takes some beating. Happy Christmas to all.
  2. Think I have seen some earlier comments on best products but couldn't find them so forgive me for raising again. My new Fiesta had the Diamondbrite treatment and I have used the products with great pleasure and success, however getting low and need to top-up but am wondering who has found the ultimate products that are beyond compare?? There are so many to choose from!!
  3. Noise From 1.0 Ecoboost 125Bhp Engine?

Sounds just like the noise I was concerned about from new. My very helpful Master Technician at local Ford dealer assured me nowt to worry about. It apparently is from the mechanical fuel pump and the noise can be heard more clearly when parkrd in a confined space or next to say a wall or large vehicle and the offside window is open. It becomes quite a nice sort of noise characteristic of this sweet engine. Worry no more!
  4. Ford Fiesta Ecoboost Mpg

Done 5000 miles since May and current average is 42.7mpg with mostly quite efficient driving mainly rural with little motorway, although did 1700 from Kent to Scotland in July with very efficient driving.. At the end of May it was at 37.2 so I suppose I should be grateful for small mercies. It's the 125bhp so perhaps this will make some difference but how we are seeing some mpg's nearer high 40's to 50's is interesting.
  5. Ford Fiesta Ecoboost Mpg

Bought the Fiesta Titanium X 1Ltr Ecoboost in May - a real gem!!!! First 1734 miles variety of driving modes mainly trying to be efficient) was averaging 37.9 mpg (to 17th July) and improving all the time. Trip to Scotland 18th to 28th July did 1710 miles of which around 50/50 motorway and others. The total of 3444 returned mpg of 41.1. However calculating just the Scotland trip gave me an mpg of 44.14. As half the trip miles had the cruise control on at 75ish this helped of course although driving the roads in the highlands meant a fair bit of up and down the gears. Engine feels much smoother and at times you wonder if it is actually going! Think it is pretty well run in now but not really sure just how long it takes. I suppose it gets progressively better. Very comfortable driving the 1700 miles to and from Scotland.
  6. Ecoboost 1.0 125Ps First Impressions

I've retired now but over the years have owned quite a variety of brands and engine sizes - my latest model is one of the best I have owned and all the bells and whistles are just great, the engine is a real star and the stop start system a joy to use and when not needed just turn it off, love the hill assist as well and the front and rear sensors are fun. Just clocked up 1300 miles and fuel consumption improving all the time. Needed to overtake yesterday and have great confidence in this little gem - it really responds well when you ask it to. Looking forward to a drive to Scotland.
  7. Noise From 1.0 Ecoboost 125Bhp Engine?

Just had Ford techie investigate and he confirmed the noise is normal for the 1L Ecoboost engine - it is the mechanical fuel pump. There have been a number of other owners had inspections - nothing to worry about!
  8. May be normal but noticed a strange noise from the engine which can only be heard when window open (can't hear from inside car when windows closed). It is more evident when parked close to a wall etc or if in more confined space. A slight "rattling" noise or perhaps a bit like a "chain rattling noise" - only seems noticable when the throttle is "tickled'. Done 1270 miles and first noticed couple of weeks ago whilst parked. Turbo???

  11. Ford Fiesta Ecoboost Mpg

Went out with a mate yesterday (260 mile round trip) in his BMW 320 diesel, averaged 55.9 mpg and he didn't hang about. I was a little embarassed to tell him my 1ltr Titanium X is averaging 37.6 mpg (780 miles to date) and mainly very efficient driving. Hope this improves!
  12. Bought a new Fiesta Titanium X "Eco-boost" last week - spent a few weeks reviewing "super minis" and finally decided this was the one to have. As a retired gent this reminds me of my earlier days when I had a mini - absolutely love my new toy!!
