Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. The Sport Ka is a 1.6 16 valve and that is classed as a Ka car. Re the belt. It's called the Auxiliary Belt and the tensioner is a spring, operated by a bolt which when turned releases the belt and allows reacememt plus the water pump can then be replaced too. I got the belt and water pump from Eurocarparts both about £35 for top end generic version.
  2. It's very likely to be the diode. I replaced with a second hand ebay one and the battery light came on immediately Swapped it for a quintin- hazel new one for£85 and the light went out. It needs swapping, also if it's overloaded it could smoke or worse catch fire. It might give you a small charge to battery but not enough to convince Cpu that it's correct. Go to Motorland and order a new quintin hazel model. Don't recommend a second hand one.
  3. security/alarm

It's delayed from initial activation by about 120 seconds. To test leave frönt window open, lock door, wait 2 minutes, open door from inside via open window. Alarm should sound. Or sensors should pick up your hand movement.
  4. I was wondering if you removed the spare tyre would it increase fuel consumption? You have to find this leak. I took the door card off and adjusted the window height and angle. You can adjust it up/ down or sideways via the bottom screws. A little patience should pay off. Next remove skuttle panel and clear "drain holes' that are probably blocked. Best of British luck my friend 🍀
  5. Omendata: Did you hang on to your expectant rollerskate, or has she rolled out of your life? 😁
  6. Just mention it...Most Streetka's leak a little. Sportka's are nice, slightly faster slightly better handling, but Street ka's are the most fun. You'll miss her for sure.
  7. Agreed If I could go back to being 18, I would have chosen the mechanics trade. If yours hasn't failed yet you've very lucky. I reckon ford spec coolant or regular flushing will keep it sweet. It is a strange car to work on sometimes but very rewarding when it works and I'm seeing fewer on the roads as we approach summer So many owners are scraping them as repair costs mount up. It will eventually become a classic much sort after model. Just think one day it will be just the two of us driving round in them B-)
  8. Above link arrows show the 2 identical size inlets. They meet inside with the thermostat so yes damage to this and most importantly sensor would overheat. I will try to find the photo I took when I installed later today. Andy Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
  9. Yes same part as for Sport ka I also own one too. All parts come with housing Some garages just remove thermostat and put it back on, in practice this rarely works as plastic housing warps with age. Check around housing for leaks. There is an electrical plug that clips onto housing to power up temp sensor check this . Just remove air filter housing it's easy to see then. In all honesty I'm not a mechanic but I have so far fitted 2 of these to my Sport and Street ka without issues, always using ford parts. Get the garage to check the hoses connected as I said earlier they maybe in the wrong order. Two of them are especially easy to mix up. Take top off coolant and start engine let coolant come to boil then replace cap. This should remove any trapped air. I still believe the issue lies with your installation of the thermostat housing. Good luck Andy
  10. Sorry to hear about your experience. I service my own ford street ka and sometimes garages can get it wrong. In my opinion I believe it's the thermostat housing this also contains temp probe and thermostat. The fault is either due to. . 1. Incorrect replacement of the rubber pipes order. 2 of the 5 pipes that connect to thermostat temp housing are the same size and can be mistakenly mixed up. 2. Non genuine ford parts fitted. After market versions for this part are terrible .I would never fit them. 3. Only part of the housing replaced I.e thermostat and not temp sensor. My advice Follow link to ford part complete unit https://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_streetka_thermostat_housing_f_1337823_c_566.htm Buy part and ask garage to install for you. The hose order will have to be confirmed or the part could be damaged When I fitted mine it took about 1 hour but I was careful to take note of hose order. Try to be patient as these cars are fun to own and easily make up for there shortcomings.😀 .
  11. Give her a good clean now in time for summer. If the hood is mossy and stained get this kit below. It works brilliantly especially on the green Moss. It comes with a dye to re colour your fabric. Yes ok a bit dear, but she's worth it 👌 Renovo Black Convertible Hood / Soft Top Cleaner,Reviver, Proofer Complete Kit with brushes etc by Millaissolutions Ltd https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01347Y5P6/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_Ks-7wbN895FP3
  12. Ford Ka 2003. Alternator Removal?

You don't jack the engine up for Alternator removal. Just all the above but also you need to remove the front black plastic manifold 6 star bolts then it comes out sweet. An extra 5 mins work max, compared to the ball ache of jacking up the engine.
  13. https://www.dropbox.com/s/lq3cgty1u57oapo/Screenshot_2016-01-14-23-01-34.png?dl=0 Jack up off side ft wheel take off plastic radiator guard top picture follow second picture to drain plug. You must remove radiator guard to see plug location. It's plastic and turns anticlockwise. Or you can drain at main rubber pipe connecting to the coolant housing. If you do the latter have a jam jar to catch coolant. Mark pipes with coloured tape so they go back in correct order. To remove air filter housing remove jubilee clip {screw) then rubber pipe(pull off) Then pull whole air housing towards you pulling slightly upwards.
  14. I had this problem and it is usually thermostat housing with integrated temp sensors. Housing warps, temp sensor fails plus rubber seal leaks. Take Air filter housing off you will see the bugger. Undo six star nuts. Remove hoses.Drain coolant at drain plug or just let it run out if your lazy.
