Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge or 8 Plus

I have the s7 edge @jace1969 and I am quite a heavy user, I tend to get about 12hours from my battery. A typical day would be; 90m of streaming Spotify via Bluetooth to my car, about 1hr using apps - fb, Twitter, bbc news, about 30m writing/reading emails, taking 10m of video and 15pics. Bluetooth, Wi-fi and location always running and about 6hrs as a personal hotspot. I also make about 30m of calls, and my phone backs up to one drive after every picture, video and email. So, like I said I’m a heavy user lol. In work I will have the phone sat on my wireless charger which, is truly one of the best features. @Lenny I’m quite into my tech and gadgets etc so if I had the choice, and I’d never had the S7 then I would go for the s8 every time. I just don’t see the point in buying ‘old’ technology when there is an updated version out there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

It all depends on your budget, I have a drivepro 220 in the front and drivepro 200 in the back which I think cost about £200 for the 2 but I can’t remember. If money was not a factor then I would be going for a BlackVue set up. Regardless of what you get I would recommend getting one with GPS as that will show your speed. The 220 in the front has GPS and the 200 doesn’t as I only need the speed recorded in one of the feeds, saved a bit of money like that too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. 2013 1.0l Ecoboost engine rust. Problem?

Ive checked our 1.0 100ps fez and the pipes are as clean as the day they left the factory, thank goodness. Will still look into treating them though Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The company will unfortunately say what it needs to to get a sale. Does the ST Line come with wind deflectors? If not I’d get a set of them and also change the number plate bulbs for LED ones. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Weird Situation

Would the Citizens Advice Bureau be of any use? I’m not familiar with ACAS so don’t know how easy they are to access. Aside from motor vehicle insurance I’m sure the company will have public liability insurance too. I wonder if they are obliged to use one of their policies, and that being the case the excess should be less than the cost of repair. So while they may ask you to come to some sort of arrangement to part cover the excess with them, they cannot expect you to contribute to potential rises in future policies. Hopefully a satisfactory resolution will be found quickly for you. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I have the S7edge, I got it 2 days before general release and it’s done me proud. It’s a decent size and it’s a sleek phone, it’s pretty intuitive and very customisable and of course has expandable memory. The quality of the picture and colours is excellent and I find the camera as good as any small digital camera. The OS is good and I can’t fault its connectivity. It connects well to the Sync and Sync2 for calls and streaming music via BT using the Spotify app. The quadcore processor is quick enough to handle everyday use and out of the box there is no lag. With a big screen comes a big footprint so it does take up a lot of space in your pocket and on your desk, I don’t use the ‘edge’ panels/menus but I like the smooth fluid look of the screen especially when I’m watching a video. Being sleek is not always an advantage, it feels too light in your hand and there is nothing to get a grip of so to me it always felt like a second away from falling out my hand. It has to have a case IMO and being the Edge there are no decent gorilla glass screen covers so I use a wallet type case from Tech21 which has a lifetime guarantee even for general wear and tear (tried and tested by me lol). I don’t like the touchwiz launcher so I use Nova. The battery is just starting to lose its charge quicker than it used to but I haven’t looked at why, it could be an app draining it. My mum and Dad both have the S8+ and say the launcher is much improved, it’s lightening fast, customisable and is unrivalled by the competition. They share my thoughts about feeling like you can drop it easily and they dislike the scanner where it is as your finger doesn’t come to a natural rest on it. My dad also really likes Bixby and says that feature has many possibilities. As a little experiment I decided to test out the claims regarding it being waterproof, I took a video while holding it under running water and then got brave and took a video while holding it under water for 30sec and it worked perfectly, thank goodness! My S7 is up for change soon and would I go for the S8? Yes! I use it for business and pleasure and it mixes the two seamlessly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I’ll just check the wife’s then and carry on in ignorant bliss when it comes to mine [emoji16] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  9. 2013 1.0l Ecoboost engine rust. Problem?

I’m going to check the wife’s 65 plate ecoboost tomorrow after reading this, if I can find the right place to look! I’m not very clever when it comes to under the bonnet, I have no problem with removing trim and parts though. Do you think the Mk5 Mondeo 1.5 ecoboost could suffer a similar fate? I’m not looking forward to checking given the cold, damp and (grit) salty road conditions in the Highlands Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Our Very Own Yplac Thread..

Thank goodness for your ‘A’ grade example diagram @zagobir otherwise no one would have had a clue what you meant [emoji23] I can just imagine the wife now, running out to her car in her dressing gown and rollers! She won’t be doing that in the snow lol, it’s then you make your move. Buy a scrapper, a non starter and when you get your moment drop it into the space and leave it there, deny all knowledge and see how long it stays there before it is removed Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I’m normally ok for parking @zain611 well I am when it comes to width anyway. My blue badge normally sees to that and if there are no blue badge spaces I park in the parent and child bit as I have a young baby which at times feels like a disability [emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  13. Can't get mobile to sync with car

+1 for pulling the fuse, sorry I don’t know which one it is though. This has worked for several members. If you don’t fancy doing that then go into the cars Bluetooth settings and delete all the previously paired devices, same on your phone and make sure your phone is ‘visible’ to all external devices. Then turn the ignition to ON but do not start the car and go through the pairing steps you have previously followed, this time though make sure your phone is in your left hand at about shoulder height while your right hand touches the wing mirror*. Your phone may have received an OTA update recently which has just changed a few things. *may not be necessary to do previous steps
  14. MK8 125bhp remap

Is it not the same 1.0 engine, with the same components just in a different pair of pyjamas? Regardless, I didn't think Ford honoured a warranty on a car with a remap regardless of who it was purchased from? Happy to be corrected as I might be able to get one for mine now [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  15. Our Very Own Yplac Thread..

I’ve not seen that article before @Turvey I wonder how he got on, did he win? I can see no real way that he has broken regs, he is within his boundaries/white lines on either edge of his vehicle. I agree that it is selfish but it’s not illegal, it didn’t annoy me when I saw it in fact it made me chuckle. The car park wasn’t rammed though so maybe that helped. If councils made the bays larger then this wouldn’t happen. It’s pretty tight getting the Mk5 Mondeo in a bay without overhanging at the front or back. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
