Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Automatic Start/start

We had the very intermittent stop start issues with our 2011 1.6 ecoboost Focus. The car was also experiencing the troublesome intermittent power steering failure on start up ( ie sometimes the car had steering assistance, sometimes it didn’t but would reset after cycling the engine ) After doing a bit of research online which led me to believe the 2 problems might be battery voltage related I bought and fitted myself a new efb battery from https://www.tayna.co.uk/Ford-Focus-Car-Battery. I chose the battery with the largest CCA and Ah rating that would fit in the battery tray area to ensure that it had plenty of reserve. After fitting the battery the stop start feature began working again within a day or so and hasn’t missed a beat since.( circa 6 months ) Unfortunatly the power steering issues did not change much and a week or so ago failed completely so I am now in the process of sourcing a second hand rack to get us back on the road! Hope this is of some help to you.
  2. How Can I Find Out The Part Number?

If you give your local Ford dealer a call with your Reg number I am sure they would be able to help you out.
  3. 2014 Focus Zetec S Stereo/display Upgrade

A quick update on this ( as I logged on again but this time with a question about a faulty EPAS rack!! ) I did manage to strike lucky and got an exact part number match on eBay for the LCD screen. It was then a 15 minuite job to fit and put the trim back together and all functions returned to normal.👍
  4. Hi Superted ( and anyone else who has had the misfortune of having to deal with this crazy problem! ) Can you give me a few pointers as to what is involved in changing over the EPAS on the mk3 Focus ? Is it a diy job. I am not shy of getting grubby and have worked on many cars over the years but need this issue fixing ASAP and am very up for saving a few £ on labour costs. I have read somewhere that the subframe needs to be dropped but would like some clarification before I decide which route to take on ours which has failed completely today!! Cheers

I am not sure tbh as I know there are various modules in the car that all need to be compatible. For instance there is a a bcm module on the passenger footwell fuse board. I guess anything is possible but you would need to be fairly handing with the software to reprogram it all and get it to harmonise.

Thanks for your reply Kev. I am of the understanding that later cars have a different type of communication between the several components and are therefore not interchangeable. My next step might be to see if I can get the screen from our car repaired as I have heard of a company called BBA Reman that may be able to undertake this job. I wonder if these screens are specific to the Focus or wheather they are fitted to Galaxy's or CMax's etc. Could broaden the search somewhat.

Apologies I have got my T's & 5's the round the wrong way in the above post. The part No is AM5T-18B955-CL Etc
  8. 2014 Focus Zetec S Stereo/display Upgrade

Picking up on this topic we have found our selves with a problem with our LCD screen. The car is a 2011 Titanium X fitted with the DAB Sony head unit. The other day whilst driving home the radio and screen in the centre went blank and was completely unresponsive. The car has a USB and 3.5mm jack socket in the glovebox and also has Bluetooth ( No Sat Nav ) Sent the car into local Ford garage who were great at helping to eliminate faulty parts and have said that the screen is dead. The screen fitted to the car is a AMT5-18B955-CL My question is this. Can I fit another model number screen ( someone has suggested that a DMT5-18B955-GC ) would fit but am not sure that I want to take a chance that I will mess something up or be left with certain features not working. Or do I have to get another AMT5-18B955 unit?. Thanks for any advise 👍
