Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Tailgate malfunction

curiously mine started working today and seems to consistently be working. I also noticed the boot open alarm was not showing any more. I have a hunch that when it stuck I was parked with my front left wheel up on a bank, maybe 6 inches and I think this introduced the tiniest amount of twist in the chassis/body that when the boot closed and I then reversed off the bank the tailgate would have twisted back, probably only by a few mm but enough to cause it to stick. I went back to the place and parked the same way and gave the tailgate a real good go at opening or closing it properly but it wouldn't budge. When I then reverse off the bank the boot open alarm went off and the boot opened when I tried it. strange.
  2. Tailgate malfunction

So I can see why your battery keeps going flat. On mine, the Interior lights stay on much longer, now turned off but the puddle lights also stay on. You can’t over ride these or switch them off. All because the boot open alarm is lit on the dash. Did they leave you with a working but manual tailgate or is it still stuck?
  3. Tailgate malfunction

Had this exact same thing happen this morning, while the dog was in the boot Same side stuck and everything. I have a dog guard and rigid boot liner which made getting the dog out very tricky. on hold to dealers now to get it looked at.
  4. Sync 3 CarPlay has died

Tried different lightning cables, including a genuine apple one, also tried a different phone. Same issue. Sync 3 version is 2.0 apparently. yes, car still under warranty, only purchased in May this year.
  5. Cross posted from Ford Edge forum: Has anyone else had this. Sync 3 system no longer detects any apple device via either USB (I don't have Android to test). Has all been working fine but when connecting an iphone now a message briefly appears stating (cannot connect apple device via USB at this time). Carplay doesn't kick in. There is no CarPlay icon in the Sync 3 settings any more either, it used to be next to the Android auto icon. I've reset the phone and done a master reset on the Sync 3 with no luck. Bluetooth still works as does charging via usb. Booked in to be looked at next week but was wondering if anyone's seen this before? Steve

  7. Speed limiter

There's an auto limit function where you can tell it to use the speed limit detected by roadsigns. You can also set an over-limit. Mine is set to 3mph so it will switch from 33 to 53 to 63 to 73 etc
  8. Edge Sport V Vignale

If you buy a Ford Edge Sport with a list price of over £40k (excluding any discounts or offers) registered after April 1st 2017 you have a £310 premium per year until the car is 6 years old (5 yrs following initial payment). Makes it £440 per year. Someone else gets hit with the £500 first year tax bill (or the dealer if you buy new) as the 20" wheels push it from 149g/km to 153g/km which is a high tax emissions bracket.
  9. Fuel Range? Sport 210 Auto 2017

fair point. What range are others getting?
  10. Fuel Range? Sport 210 Auto 2017

So that accounts for 1/2 of what's left. There still over a gallon unaccounted for though.
  11. Vibration from road

Interestingly I had a loan Edge from the local dealer yesterday and it was a 2017 Titanium 210 Auto rather than the Sport. It had done just over 650 miles (mine is 1500 miles now). It also had old entertainment system, Sync 2 (mine is a sync 3). However the steering on the loaner had awful vibrations compared to the silky smooth ride of my 2017 Sport 210 Auto. I also thought the gearbox was quite 'laggy' and hesitant. Something I've never felt with mine. I wonder if there are some under the hood changes made to suspension or engine/gearbox? The cars had different key types too, mine is the big chunky smart key, loaner had a much smaller key.
  12. Fuel Range? Sport 210 Auto 2017

I've put about 1500 miles on my 2017 Edge Sport Auto 210 now and I've noticed the fuel range indicator is wildly out when it gets low. I'm getting around 420 miles to a tank with the range indicator showing 30 miles left. I then fill up and assuming I'm right and that it has a 69 litre tank (?), I have about 10 litres in the tank at the time of the refuel. I'm getting around 35mpg (calculated) so thats around 7.7m/l or 77 miles left. I was hoping after a few fillups the range would calibrate but alas no. Is anyone else finding this? i'm never quite brave enough to let the range get to zero 'just in case' but it's done this 3 times now.
  13. The 2017 Edge Sport with panonroof doesn't have any roof rails so are there any options for fitting roof bars or am I out of luck? steve
