Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Help. 1999 Mk6 escort

Hi Everyone, Finally purchased my First Ford, its not a mk2 but its all i can afford. I need some advice Im based in Donegal, ireland. The car is a 1999 mk6 1.6 Escort, Shes a 3 door model. The car was converted to a disability car when new and the front seat was replaced with a removable wheel chair. Original seat was lost by previous owner. The car has only 31k miles, and drives like new. The body work however needs a bit of tlc. bottom of doors, rear arched etc. im going to get these professional fixed I want to add : Front and rear splitters side skirts bucket seats rear disc brakes lowering kit exhaust I will eventually replace the engine etc, but ill need to refill the piggy bank first. Can anyone let me know the best seats, splitters, skirts, im just looking for a plain look, like the gti escort. and also were to order the parts online. Also, if anyone would know what is involved in the rear brakes conversation to dics is this a big job? Best parts? I have attached a pic of what I am looking to achieve, mines is same color thanks in advance love the site, keep up the good work. Vinnie
  2. Hello, Just a quick question if anyone has any ideas, we are trying to replace the trailing arm bushes on my 1999 Fiesta however it would seem that nothing has been changed on my car since it came out the showroom as most things take a lot of brute force to get out. We don't have a bush puller or whatever it is called and going by the Haynes guide has helped us get to the stage of taking out the bushes but it would appear that one bolt had seized, which we have managed to get out to drop the axel, however now the bushes appear to be seized in the axel. Any ideas how we can get them out? I have seen one step by step online with seized ones where they used a hacksaw to cut through everything then used the bush puller to pull the bush out, however we do not have one and they appear to be really stuck in there, so really any ideas on how to get them out, I have managed to cut nearly through one of them but with another one to go, any advise would be great. Thanks Jaynie
  3. Hello, I have a T Reg/1999 Ford Fiesta Mk VI. I needed a new headlight and so we got one from a scrapyard to replace the one I had, which had to be changed due to my partner hitting a pheasant and it broke part of the plastic housing and was held in by 1 screw. We had replaced the passenger one from a scrapyard one before and know how to change one however as we went to replace it, I was checking the lights and the indicator started clicking a lot then suddenly stopped, no indicators, no clicking, no hazards. We have checked the fuses and the one for the indicators had blown, so we changed it and to begin with had no luck. We then changed the flasher unit on the steering column and seem to have the indicators working but the hazard lights wont work and neither will the horn, which I have the understanding that they work off the same switch. We have checked the fuses again, all of the ones in the engine and by the steering wheel, we have checked and changed the relays and even tried another hazard light switch from another fiesta but it doesn't seem to work. The horn still works as we have tested this but we don't know what could be causing the hazards to not work. We have also been looking in the Haynes manual and found they are both off the multifunction switch. Any ideas or help would be great. Thanks Jayne
  4. Hello everyone This is my first post, so sorry if something wrong or explanation is bad,as I am not verry good with cars. My problem is. 1.when I start the engine the revs go to 1500rpm and gradualy lowers to about 500rpm when worms up,aswell all the time theres a filling that it will stall, some times it does stall but starts after 2.Im not sure about this one if its normal or not?. Recently i went on a 115 mile journy to see my family and it used a bit less then half of tank. mainly motorway miles was going about 60-70 mph. I been reading the forum for the problem and found that can be one of the vacume pipes? Thank you in advance for youre help. Andy.
  5. Manufacturer: Ford. Model: LX. Year: 1999. Colour: Blue. Fuel Type: Petrol. Engine Size (CC): 1796. Yesterday I noticed my car is making whirring sound when I press the clutch to change gear. I had not driven the for four days and didn't notice the sound when I last drove. This may or may not be relevant, last Thursday I did drive through a partially flooded road. Many thanks Grant
  6. I have recently purchased a Ford Focus 1.4 CL (1999) T Reg. The car has manual central locking, although i would like to know if it is possible to adapt the car for remote central locking? Would be grateful if i could receive some help on whether i can do this, what i need for it and how much it would likely cost?
  7. I've just bought a second hand 1999 Fiesta Ghia 16v 1242cc Petrol car but unfortunately the previous owner lost the owner's handbook. I've tried the Ford UK site using the VIN number to no avail and so far all I've found online is the Haynes 'Ford Fiesta Service and Repair Manual: Petrol and Diesel 1995-2002.' I'd really prefer thel Ghia owner's handbook specific to my model but after spending a couple of hours online I'm not holding out much hope that I'll be able to find one - unless anyone here has any ideas? Many thanks!
