  1. After searching high and low for information on this I'm resorting to starting a new topic. I've got an EGR blanking plate ready to fit in my 2.0 engine but I can't quite figure out whereabouts it goes. I've followed the pipe down to the inlet on the front of the block but after looking at the end of the pip its evident that it cannot fit in this location (oh how easy life would be if it did). I've found a guide on here which related to either the 1.6 or 1.8 TDCi lumps but would this guide also be the same for the 2.0 engine? If it doesn't, can any of the 2.0 guys who have fitted a plate on theirs give some indication of where it does go please.

  3. Hi, Been lurking here for years, but now I've ended up turning into one of those scumbags who only post when they have a problem. Sorry about that, but I promise I'll try and stick around! I've had a 1.8 tdci 52 plate for 3 years, driving 80k in that period - loved it, but it got too old so I replaced it. Got myself a nice 59 plate focus, 2.0 tdci - love the car. Seriously - love the car, but I have a minor (hopefully) problem. In 5th and 6th, and to a lesser extent 4th, when 'flooring it' having say followed a lorry for a while at even revs (1500ish), when I go to overtake and put the pedal to the floor, the car will pull to 1800ish, then judder its way to 2100rpm. Depending on how bad it is, its either nothing more than a vibration as it pulls to a proper judder. It doesn't seem to have a massive effect on actual performance, but its annoying and certainly a problem I want fixed within my 3 month warranty period. However, I'd like to try the obvious first before ringing the garage. The car has done 50k, and obviously only 3.5 years old, however the usual suspects are all 'possibles' - EGR MAF Split intercooler pipe(S) DMF Injectors There is a very slight vibration when the clutch is pushed into the floor (checked when I'm stationary and feeling paranoid!), but I'm fairly confident the DMF is at least 'OK for now'. I don't really have any experience with EGR or MAF, though I know the ford standard intercooler pipes seem to have been made of cardboard, so that's always an option. There's loads of similar problems talked about on the internet, but nothing completely specific to my issue. So I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm probably going to have a play tomorrow, check the pipes and potentially clean the EGR if its easy to do - any advice on this also appreciated. Generally I wanted to check the obvious before relying on the warranty. Fuel consumption is around 48MPG, which by all accounts is all good. It had the fuel filter done at 50k, along with oil/filter. I know the fuel filters are a **** to change on some of these, but once its started, presumnably you're OK (so I can discount the garage doing it badly?).   4. Looking for a bit of guidance on starting issues im having with my 2.0 tdci mk focus estate. A few days ago it was difficult to start the car and i had to leave the key turned and the engine turning over for around ten seconds before the car spluttered into life - followed by a big white cloud of smoke out the rear. after a minute or so the car settled down, the smoke cleared and the car was running fine. I then had the same issue a few days later, again, after a minute or so the car settled down and was running fine. I then had an issue the very same day where the car kangaroo'd a little whilst driving steady at 30MPH, this was followed by the engine dying completely and an engine management warning coming up on the dash. I coasted to the side of the road and turned the ignition off, I tried to start the car and it started absolutely fine no issues at all. At this point I realise that there is an issue and mentally tell myself to get the car checked out as soon as I can - The car continues to drive fine for the rest of the day however and I intended to go to a local garage the following day and get it checked out. Anyways, were now on the next day, I go out to the car and cannot get it started at all, the engine turns over however it will not fire. nothing. I had a look at the fuel line and noted that there were air bubbles in the clear line from the filter running to the fuel pump. I also noted that the fuel line was not securely clipped onto the fuel pump, I securley reconnected this and turned the engine over, Fuel was seen pulling through from the filter however a huge bubble of air was also in the line. I cracked open the bolts on the fuel lines going into the injectors one at a time and could see they were all pushing fuel past OK - I nipped these back up and thats as far as I have got. The problem I now have is I cannot get to a garage as the car wont drive, and I am not sure what to do or what may be the issue. Does anyone have any advise or had similar happen? I only got the car two months ago and i'll be honest its my first Ford, and also my first diesel so im a little outside my comfort zone on the mechanical side of things!
  5. URGENT - Possible turbo failure?

    Hi there, I currently have a 2006 Ford Focus Titanium 2.0 TDCI 136hp (I believe). However, I was driving along minding my own business when I witnessed a sudden excessive loss in power. There was also a whistling coming from the engine somewhere? Also, whilst in first and second gear there's a large amount of jerking up until 3rd gear, thus resulting in me revving it slightly more to get into a higher gear. I am worried as its my fathers car and he's going to kill me, even though I've stressed for years that the turbo is pants and never been 100% responsive. I would just like to know could this just be from a crack in the Intercooler pipe or could the turbo actually have knackered on me? Sorry for the essay & thanks for reading.
  6. Hi All, I purchased my first ever Ford a couple of weekends ago, as such this is my first post. I have a few questions that I hope you kind and knowledgeable people could help with: What I have - Ford Focus Zetec, 2.0L petrol, 54 plate. FSH from a local Ford dealer, only one previous owner (I'm the second), pretty well maintained with only a few dings and scratches on the exterior. Paid £1,050. Was this a good deal? I'm coming from an Alfa 156 (05) 1.9JTD M-Jet, sold with great reluctance however the turbo was going. My second question, more of an observation is that it's pretty slow. Of course I can't really compare the torque between the two, however the Focus really feels lacking, it's quite quick off the mark in 1st & 2nd but power feels completely lacking in the upper gears. Is this typical of older petrol engines? It's my first time owning a petrol over 1.1 (1st car) and don't know if I'm expecting too much? Third is that drop-links need replacing and the front coil spring are corroded. I've done the former a few times, however I've never replaced springs, any tips on what to watch for when doing these? I'm going to run some injector cleaner through it to see if that helps, as it's on the original injectors, and I'm unsure if this has ever been done. One thing to mention is that when idling the car shivers slightly every 10 seconds or so, nothing noisy or too noticeable. I've included a pic of the engine for the hell of it. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

  8. hiya im a new member as of today, im sorry if this is in the wrong section but i was wondering if anyone has got a cylinder head for the mondeo ive described in the title for sale? 2 inlet valves are bent on cylinder 2 and the head is warped so i cant find any decent excuse to refurb it. \if anyone has one layng around for sale please lt me know Cheers Bradley P.S. iirc the cylinder heads are the same for both 1.8 and 2.0 zetec lumps
  9. Hi there, first time ford owner here. I have recently purchased a 2007 focus estate 2.0 petrol automatic. I was wondering if it is possible to fit a turbo conversion to this engine? If so, what would I need to complete the conversion.? Also I was wondering what other 'tasty' non-ricer mods are available for this car? Cheers, Mike.

Hi everyone, generally looking for some advice, I have placed my order for the new Ford Focus St tdci which Should be here in June 😊😀😄😄 With my new focus which arrives in summer, should I block the EGR valve off from day one so its always breathing in clean air and not recycled exhaust gases which clog everything up, Will this affect the higher powered turbo or the DPF? I currently own a 2005 focus titanium 2.0 tdci 136 without DPF which has been a great car except the EGR valve issue, I had it blanked off about 30,000 miles ago and all the issues with smoking on start up, no power and fuel economy disappeared, sometimes the EML will come on so I plug I my code reader and check its related to the EGR , then after 4 restarts of the engine the fault disappears again. Thanks in advance for any helps anyone could offer. 😉

Hi everyone i got my 2004 Mondeo LX 2.0 about 3 months ago, when i first got it, it had no go past 4,000 RPM and was getting a average of 28 MPG, I worked out that it was the fuel pump that was the issue so i had it replaced for a new one along with a new fuel filter. But no matter how easy i drive the car i am getting 30 MPG. I have also noticed that when i put petrol in it the distance till empty is way out. E.G. 230 miles till empty but i will only get about 100 to 120 miles. I have tried resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery over night and it didn't make a difference. Is this normal for MPG? Car someone help me out with this as i am thinking of selling it dew to the low MPG. Thanks

  15. Hi Been experiencing intermittent flashing of the traction control light for a few weeks now. Would anyone have any idea what could be causing the traction light to flash intermittently? As well as that i'm experiencing a vibration like noise when I go over a hump or rough patch of road and sometimes a juddering sensation when I apply the brakes. Could it be the wheel bearings or abs sensors? Thanks
  16. Engine/gearbox Compatibility?

    Hi. So ive got a 1.8 mk1 focus zetec. The bottom end is rattling, hence; knackered. However, im looking to do an engine change. I've spotted a mint 2.0 automatic engine. Question is, will this fit straight up to my manual gearbox and is there any ACTUAL difference between a manual engine and this one that i need to be aware of? All help welcome.

    Hi all. I got a 51 focus zetec 1.8 blacktop with a rattling bottom. What im wondering is if I can fit a 2.0 botton to a 1.8 head and flywheel? The head is all good as most of it was new last march. Anyone know for sure to help. Thnx.

Hi Guys, its my first post on here and i need a little forum help. we have a 2005 Ford Focus 2.0 tdci which has recently had a full service, glow plugs, front trailing arms, full wheel balance and alinement and has now has a fuel leak. The leak was first noticed on the passengers side trailing arm. There was a very small puddle on the arm. I took it into my local garage who believed it was the return pipe from the fuel pump as the pipe was soaking wet at the end near the pump. Just to so know, the pipe was wet, the black plastic air pipe to the right was wet, and the pump its self was also a little wet on the right side. Anyway, the pipe was changed a couple of days ago and given a steam clean to get rid of any excess fuel. Today when i opened the bonnet i could smell diesel, and the pipe and surrounding area were again wet. the very annoying thing is i cant visually see anything leaking. Its going back in the garage tomorrow, but has anyone else had this sort of problem, or could point me in the right direction? I have attached a pic, hopefully it makes sense Many thanks Marc
  20. hi guys new here so hello to all .....ive got a bit of a problem ive been down to have a look at a mondeo 2.0 tdci 115 on a 52 shes a high miler at 144000 but shes in good nick....the old man and i took jump leads down to her because the battery was flat managed to get it started on first tick but piles of white smokes was coming out of the exhaust nothing under bonnet though we left her run for about 15 mins but constant white smoke as you rev harder the worse it gets any ideas on what could be the problem and am i talking telephone numbers to fix it. thanks guys
