Hey ! so basically my first car at the age of 22 was the 2000 ford focus ghia with the 130hp 2.0 zetec lump. i had a crash that resulted in my front bumper and crash bar being destroyed and i then proceeded to put on a facelift bumper and mk2 headlights with the crash bar from the mk2 to keep the car roadworthy etc and everything went great ! colour matched the bumper, tinted the fog lights yellow and lowered the car on 35mm Apexi springs with the st170 drop-links on the front and standard shocks all round. i absolutely love the car but the state of the rear bushings meant that the nearside rear wheel was off and the whole rear end crabbed off to the right when rolling anywhere. recently i have written off my beloved "gerty" (it was a very emotional day and i even said the words goodbye as i slowly walked past with a wobbly lip) and have acquired a 2002 mk1.5 1.4 focus CL due to both my crashed being in my first year and the second one bringing two separate claims. 1.4 is good on fuel and makes a nice noise but is gutless i would absolutely love to put my 2.0 engine in the place of this new 1.4 and proceed to lower this second focus on the same springs whil renewing all the bushings underneath as i am desperately infatuated with the way these cars handle when stiff :) the plan is to brace up this three door body with front and rear struts, convert it to run the brakes and wheel hubs from the ghia and transfer some trim along with the clocks and trip computer with the engine. in an ideal world i would have all the central locking brought over as well but i just dont know what is possible at this stage and how much i would be looking to spend. i plan on keeping this car for 2-3 years and driving it with appropriate vigor. so basically.......... can anybody help me pretty please ?

  3. Looking to purchase this car. Different from the car I posted about before. Supposedly no issues with this car. 157,000 km/ 97k Mi https://home.mobile.de/home/index.html?customerId=13962060#des_222071259 The dealer brought the price down to 2450 euros. You guys are the Mondeo experts. What questions should I ask? Anything you are weary about? I know they have cutting out issues What should I look for when test driving the car? What should I look for in the maintenance log? Driving 1.5 hrs to check it out today.
  4. Hi Guys and Gals, I have owned my 2006 1.4 Diesel Fiesta for just shy of a year now. I commute almost 100 miles a day in it on the motorway, and average around the 60MPG mark (I reset the counter on the first of the month). Over the last few months I have noticed the average MPG start to slip. First to the mid 50s then the mid 40s. Something is obviously not right. This morning on my way to work, the average MPG dropped dramatically (by about 10MPG) when going up a steep hill on the A31. Once the road leveled out the MPG continued to fall down to around 33MPG. Eventually it started to climb again ending around 38. Driving home from work today, the counter started accelerating, 40, 45, 50, 55 by the time I got back it was about 58. Any idea what would cause such a rapid change in MPG? As I mentioned, I reset the counter once a month (on the first) to keep track of my fuel usage over the month. So the average was being taken over the last 1,400 miles. Full disclosure, the turbo has been whining for about 9 months now, think its finally giving out? Thanks for any help.

  8. Hey, everyone. :) I've seen a few people with Cherry Bomb Glasspacks (Sportex-type) exhausts on their Fiesta's. Here's an example: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KxTit0_XqM) They're supposed to make your car sound 'sporty'. I was just wondering how these would even be installed. I've looked under my Fiesta MK5 (2002) and all I see is the exhaust connected to a BIG muffler. A Cherry Bomb looks like this: (http://www.fastcardirect.co.uk/ebay/IMAGES/OBT3-5.jpg). How would this even be installed on a car like mine? The exhaust and muffler are massive, and this cherry bomb looks really small. How is it done?

  10. Hi guys new to this forum but I am hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I have a few query's couple of days ago my car was parked in a space running whist I was in it and it just cut out as if i had turn the key to the off position. Shortly after or before I can't quite remember but when I had started the car up to drive, I heard a hissing sound ( was as if i had burst turbo pipe) and it was very loud and got louder as I revved the car. Anyway i drove the car as normal and the noise had corrected it self as I never heard it again and haven't since. So one of my mates is a mechanic so I got a lend of his snap on verso diagnostics machine to check of any fault codes, and 1 fault code was stored which was P007f something along the lines of turbocharger intercooler temp sensor, would that cause my car to cut out? Today I was heading out to work and the next thing the glow light was flashing and I lost power then it just cut out completely. However it started straight away afterwards. are any of the faults related or not? Also I have read up on forums regarding the issue but nothing is 100% and I don't want to guess what parts it needs and throwing money into the car if I don't need to. Is there any simple things I can try first or test anything? My car has only done 120,000 miles and up to now has caused me no problem, I have only had it since december last year but I really like the car and would like to find the cause of the problem as soon as possible.   11. warmed the car up for 10 minutes, like every day...Reversed out of the drive, (everything was fine on start up and when I got into reverse)..so reversed into the street and about to go into first when I noticed that everything on the dash had died. I thought I stalled it, gave it some revs and the engine was on..so I was confused. It was a snowy start today, the colds murdered it..I hope its a cheap fix like a fuse.   14. Hi all. I recently bought a 2002 Fiesta Mk 6 1.3 Finesse. I've only just discovered that the cigarette lighter/power supply port doesn't actually work. I've checked the fuse and it appears to be in good order and still fully connected. Is there anything else I can check before buying a new lighter unit? Also, if I buy a new unit, will there be any soldering involved or is it just a case of pulling out the old one and plugging in the new one? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
  15. Hi All I am looking closely at buying the following: 2002, 59 000 miles 1.6 Zetec 5dr Full service history (last service Aug 2013) 1 owner Cambelt Changed price 1350 What do you guys reckon? My last car is an economic write off and I kind of need one asap for work, but this looks too good to be true? Every other one I am looking at is 200+ more with less miles, Please let me know what you guys think? Its a big investment for me and I dont want to make a mistake!!
  16. Hi there, i recently bought my pride and joy, a Mk3 Mondeo, Ghia 2.0 petrol and its is a lovely drive. But i have had starting troubles from day one (only about 2 weeks ago) she turns over but needs a bit of throttle to start up. it differs with temperature it seems, first thing when its cold is best but when its had a run and is warm it really struggles to start. At worst i end up with the stater jamming and i have to wait a bit and try again Its more than frustrating and i need some guidance and or knowledge on the problem So far i have changed the plugs and leads and to be fair she runs better but has had no affect on the start up Any help or advice anyone can offer me will be greatly appreciated Thank you in advance Ash
  17. Ford Focus 2002 Ecu Fault

    Hello all, My Mum has owned her ford focus from new and its a great little car. Recently the engine control unit has given up and the car wont go faster then 15 MPH. We took it down to a garage and were told it would cost £1,000 to get it fixed and re programmed but my uncle says you can buy one off ebay for £100 and then you just have to pay to get it programmed. He also said you could stick any ECU into the car but seeing as this controls so much like the air bags etc my mums worried that it may not be the best option to mess around with it. We are torn between getting rid of the car and getting the new focus or spending a lot of money on getting it fixed. The problem with fixing the car is that we don't know what else may go wrong seeing as it is so old now. Is there an easier fix to this ECU problem? should we buy one off ebay or should we just get rid of it and get the new focus? P.S shes still driving around in its current state!!! I'm worried and think she should just leave it alone until we decide what to with it.
  18. Wiper Stalk Replacement

    i own a ford finesse 2002 i had the wiper stalk replaced as the old one wasn't working. when you pull the stalk towards you it sprays water on the front windscreen but the back window wiper also start to wipe the back window. is this normal or do i have to ask the garage to fix it? any help welcome.

    I've had nasty coming together with a wall, which has left me possibly needing to replace the nearside (passenger) front door . Struggling to find anything on ebay for this exact model. Anybody able to tell me if there are other models compatible? or even if the door from a mk5/6 car would fit?
