  3. 2.0tdci dpf sensor?

    Hi guys, I have a 2.0tdci Focus 06 144k miles. I live quite rural and regularly drive 100 miles per day (60 of which is motorway/country lanes). A few weeks back on the motorway I lost all accelaration power. The engine still idled but would not accelerate. I pulled over, restarted the car and all was fine. Approx 1000 miles later engine management light came on with p2453 and p2454 (apparently meaning the same thing?) and went into limp mode and has got progressively worse. Anyway I assumed this was somehow the dpf, so I cleared codes and took it to 4k revs for 15 minutes. I've done this approx 5 times. 3 of the 5 times I've had a white puff of smoke but this doesn't cure the codes or limp mode. It would appear I have to accelerate it up to 4k revs for a few minutes before it decides to drive normally. It will at some point inevitably go into limp mode again though. Any ideas what this is? I've tried to follow the pipes on the sensor located next to the battery and couldn't seem to find a hole. Could it be the sensor itself? Or something else?
  4. HI, my name is Del. I have a 2010 Kuga 2l Tiatnium tdci 4x4. Love this but need something bigger for work. Was thinking a S-Max 2.5T 06/07 for about 3 to 4 grand. Looking at the Mondeo, it comes with many extra features, eg. Keyless Entry and Lane Departure Warning. My thoughts are....... from a lucky position of having a few friends who are dismantlers and purchase crashed cars as donor cars.......... What could it take from other Fords to upgrade and 06/08 S-Max A few things I`ve thought of.... Keyless Entry Start Button Lane Departure Warning Front Full Electric / Full Leather / Heated and cooled Seats Convers+ updrage Some feed back would be so cool......thanks
  5. Hi My first post I have a Ford Focus 1.6LX, Petrol Manual 2006, every so often when I drive it all the lights pop up on the instrument cluster and the car goes in limb mode. The mileage clock also goes clear. Whilst I'm driving I sometimes don't know what speed I'm doing and always have my sat nav connected on my phone just in case. If I leave it for a few hours or overnight it almost certainly starts on the button and drives really well when working. First I brought some WD40 switch cleaner sprayed the connections at both ends the car drive fine for ages 130 miles in fact. I was chuffed until the fault came up again. I'm in a bit of a predicament. I purchased a second hand cluster for £50 on eBay. Thinking swapping the cluster would fix the issue, but the car never started with the second hand cluster. I researched later that it needs programming. I'm struggling to find someone who can programme it for me at a reasonable price. I've even looked at doing it myself via a ELM to USB cable connect to my laptop. Download the correct software. The thing is if I mess it up at worse the car is kaput at best I'll repair for the cost of a £20 cable and learned something along the way. I've also looked up online where you can get the cluster repaired for £100/£120 with a lifetime warranty. But then I've only gone out and spent £50 on the cluster, I'll just re-sell on eBay. I don't want be throwing money to a car that's not worth a great much but at the same time it's only done 51,000 miles and as I said drives excellent when fully functional. Any advice, links, engineer repairs would be greatly appreciated. I'm based in Essex. Thanks in advance 😃
  6. Hey guys, probably a stupid question but...How can I figure out which kind of air filter my car uses? I know the simple answer is to go out and look for myself, but unfortunately due to working retail and it being the run up to christmas time I barely have time to scratch my butt, Let alone pulling apart an airbox in the car! Just looking a bit of advice as I want to get the parts in for a service but Euro car parts is giving me two different kinds of filter. A normal 'flat' one and a round, cylinder one. So...Which is the one I need? Car is a 1.6 petrol MK2. Many thanks.
  7. I could really do with a bit of help on this issue if anyone knows. well I was getting diesel I was getting money out of my pocket. I pressed the clutch really hard by accident and it got stuck so had to pull it out by hand. and since then the clutch to start you've got to put your foot to floor to get it to start also started to rattle on idle like something come loose I think but go's threw gears smooth tho.
  8. Hey guys. Probably a stupid question, but does anyone know which kind of Air Filter my focus would take? I've put my Reg into Eurocarparts and it gives me two different type. A flat one and a round one. I'd have gone out and looked myself, but I'm so busy at work the next while, I'll barely have a chance to start pulling apart airboxes and stuff Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys So I've been trawling through these forums however so many different models / variants are covered it gets somewhat confusing tracking down people who've had similar experience with the same model of car. I have a 2006 Ford Focus MK2 1.6 petrol which is losing oil. About 1 liter every 2k miles (2 months), but this is sporadic. My round commute is 56 miles, mainly dual carriageway miles however even though my driving style is fairly consistent oil loss is not. It won't move for weeks then it'll loose a visible amount in a few days. There is no visible signs of leakage, no obvious blue smoke from the exhaust and so noticeable decrease in power or fuel economy. Is there anything simple I can check before assuming the worst? I've tried looking for the typical PCV valves but can't find the part online or in the engine bay (does the mk2 1.6 petrol focus have a PCV valve?) I've also removed and cleaned the breather hose running from the top of the engine to the air filter assembly (was a little oily but not clogged in anyway) Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just a push in the right direction / a link to another forum post. Thanks!
  10. URGENT - Possible turbo failure?

    Hi there, I currently have a 2006 Ford Focus Titanium 2.0 TDCI 136hp (I believe). However, I was driving along minding my own business when I witnessed a sudden excessive loss in power. There was also a whistling coming from the engine somewhere? Also, whilst in first and second gear there's a large amount of jerking up until 3rd gear, thus resulting in me revving it slightly more to get into a higher gear. I am worried as its my fathers car and he's going to kill me, even though I've stressed for years that the turbo is pants and never been 100% responsive. I would just like to know could this just be from a crack in the Intercooler pipe or could the turbo actually have knackered on me? Sorry for the essay & thanks for reading.
  11. Hey guys. Having a bit of a strange noise from my focus lately. If you try to take off hard from a stop, say trying to quickly nip out of a junction or at a set of lights, you'll get a big 'Clunk' sound from the front of the car (Engine bay maybe?) Just wondering if anyone else has ever had a similar issue? The car is fine when it's driving normally, no noises when driving, going over bumps or on sudden braking. The Clunking seems to only happen when taking off, or when going up a steep incline (Say, a multi-storey carpark ramp) I was thinking maybe an Engine mount? Could this be the case?
  12. Replacing the front badge

    Hey guys! Sorry if this has been asked before or I'm missing something really obvious, but I'm having trouble fitting a new front badge on my 2006 ford focus. A couple of weeks ago the badge was (I assume) ripped off, just the actual front bit not the black bit. I've got a new badge off of ebay but I can't see how to take the old one off. There doesn't seem to be anything to unscrew, it twists around but won't pull out. Thanks for any help you can give me! I've attached two pictures.
  13. Hey Guys. I've had my Focus sitting for over a week or so and when I went out to start it today, the battery was flat. I've seen a lot of posts saying not to jump start certain models of Focus, but I'm just wondering if it'd be safe to jump start mine? Assuming I follow the user manual and don't !Removed! it up! So the long and short is, Jump starting, safe or not?
  14. Hi Guys and Gals, I have owned my 2006 1.4 Diesel Fiesta for just shy of a year now. I commute almost 100 miles a day in it on the motorway, and average around the 60MPG mark (I reset the counter on the first of the month). Over the last few months I have noticed the average MPG start to slip. First to the mid 50s then the mid 40s. Something is obviously not right. This morning on my way to work, the average MPG dropped dramatically (by about 10MPG) when going up a steep hill on the A31. Once the road leveled out the MPG continued to fall down to around 33MPG. Eventually it started to climb again ending around 38. Driving home from work today, the counter started accelerating, 40, 45, 50, 55 by the time I got back it was about 58. Any idea what would cause such a rapid change in MPG? As I mentioned, I reset the counter once a month (on the first) to keep track of my fuel usage over the month. So the average was being taken over the last 1,400 miles. Full disclosure, the turbo has been whining for about 9 months now, think its finally giving out? Thanks for any help.
  15. Hi All, Question about my Focus. Came back from holiday after a week away and cold weather at home. Took off handbrake which stuck until I reversed out of the car parking space, but it still feels there is a little more rolling resistance than normal when I drive the car. Main points: -Handbrake disengages completely....not slack when it's down. No hand brake light on either, so that's all fine. -Fuel consumption has gone up by 25% (although I am not doing a weekly 80 miles round trip on a dual carriageway during the winter, only combined city/country driving) -Slight noise coming from rear right wheel but not from others when car is rolling slowly, doesn't sound like the brake though So, I'm thinking the bearing, but how could that have just decided to break while I was away? Car is parked in secure location outside. Any ideas? This weekend I will jack the rear up and compare the rolling resistance of each rear wheel to see what's up and report back. Cheers!
  16. Engine System Fault

    hi i have recently brought a focus 06 on a 06 plate tdci zetec 1.6 had the car since Friday 22nd may so just over a day and my engine system fault has come on heard a bang then lose of power managed to get home and was barely able to get up to speed i live near a few 70 mph roads as work daily use the roads to get to work the fan was still going when i got home for a round 2-3 mins after the engine had been off and keys taken out looked in the engine and when i rubbed down the inter cooler pipe the fan stopped have noticed a small plastic gromit pressed up against the pipe and there's a bit of rust but not willing to drive much till i can get a mechanic to look it over please reply asap and no one say take car back as i have explored that option and all i got was contact warranty which is now closed till Tuesday and i have 3 days of work and no other car to use

    Hi I'm pretty new to this, I've recently purchased a Ford Focus lx 2006 and its truley amazing! However, I've noticed that when I turn the volume up over 20 the whole left side speakers stop working and when I turn it back under 20 they're fine? Any suggestion greatly appreciated :)
  18. Sorry about this, but this is a continuation from http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/69150-2006-18-tdci-wont-start-code-p0089/ The car still refuses to start, I have done the following. Replaced the filterUsed a vacuum hose to pull fuel through from the tankReplaced the Fuel Rail Pressure SensorReplaced the Fuel Pressure RegulatorReplaced the Fuel Metering ValveThere's more below the pic ... As you can see by the following photo, I have totally bypassed the tank, fuel line and fuel filter by using a funnel and short piece of clear pipe. As I crank the engine the fuel goes down slowly but that car makes no attempt to start. Here is another pic of the parts I have replaced ... I did notice that when I replaced the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor, I started to get a reading when previously it was at 0. So, what I'm asking now is ... and I don't want to ... do we think all this points to the fuel pump needing replacing? I have a fuel pump that I collected yesterday after a 4 hour round trip, that is where I got the sensors from, also I got the fuel rail too, is it worth swapping out the fuel rail? Thanks, Lee.
  19. One Of The Lowest Mileage Mk2's?

    My grandparents have a 2006 MK2 Zetec 1.6 Petrol Automatic as their daily driver. (When my Grandpa's Supercharged Jaguar S Type is not being used) I noticed today that it's only covered 32,000 miles since new! Surely that's one of the lowest mileage MK2s out there? Anyone have one/seen one with lower miles?
  20. Focus 2006, TDCI, 1.8. My car will not start, the story begins... On Saturday night around 11:00 pm I started the car and set off, within feet of setting off, the car stalls and won't start up again, so I roll it back to the side of the road. I have 'Torque' on my android phone and a ELM adapter in the car, I ran the code reader that gives me this .. Sorry for the large image. I'm not bothered about the 'theft' issue as it has not shown up since. .. I left the car for 5 minutes and tried to start it again, after a bit of spluttering, it starts fine and I'm off. 2 hours later on the way home, no issues at all. Now come Sunday and it's time to give my Mum a lift home and the car won't start again, check 'Torque' and it gives me the same P0089 error, again 5 minutes later I try to start the car and it has no problems. Now, it's Monday morning and time for work, try to start the car, turns over but won't fire again, keep trying (cos what else can I do) and eventually the battery dies so it's taxi to work and look at it later. Today is Wednesday and the battery has been charging overnight, I've reconnected it to the car and crossed my fingers ... again, won't start. I've been looking up the problem on the internet and I see people mentioning that this error is a generic 'not enough pressure' error (please correct me if I'm wrong) also there been a bit of a mention of dirty fuel filters, so I've been and bought a fresh one, fitted it and used a vacuum pump to draw fuel from the tank to fill the filter (I connected it to the output of the fuel filter), but to no avail. I've taken the battery off and I'm charging it up again now as i type this. Has anyone got any advise or how to troubleshoot this issue, what things can I check and how can I check them? One big question is .. does the car have a fuel pump in the fuel tank? Please help, the weather is wet and windy and I've got work in the morning again. Thanks in advance. Lee :(
  21. Hey all Im thinking I may have to part with my Fiesta - Pretty sad times! I need to raise some money for my Masters Degree fees and the car is the only thing that i can do to raise it quickly :-( But I'm not sure on what to sell him for. He's an 06 plate mk6.5 1.25 climate petrol done 81k - just passed his mot with no advisory and told the car is in excellent condition - I've changed the standard interior to silver and installed the aux point. I have been watching on eBay but they go for so many different prices I'm not sure what price to gage. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!
  22. Hi, I have recently bought a Ford Focus 2006 1.6, which means I still haven't driven it in a warm day. So I never tested the air conditioning system, just assumed it worked. But today I was changing the bulbs on the RHS headlight and realised that two of the air conditioning pipes were completely loose. Since I couldn't figure out how they were put together or find any blueprints, you guys are my last resource before I get the car checked by a specialist. Could anyone tell me whether this is normal or someone purposely detached them for some reason? Pics included. Thanks!
  23. Fiesta 2005/2006 Facelift

    Hiya guys, looking to get my first car and thinking the Ford Fiestas look like a great place to start. Was looking at a budge of between £1500 up to maybe a little over £2000. I was interested in the 2005/2006 facelift versions (I say 2005/2006 because depending on the site I go to they state different years). Now correct me if I'm wrong but most recomendations seems to advice going for the newer facelift editions. However I'm consfused the mad on how to spot them if the ad doesn't specifically state it's a facelift edition. Also on a side not, I understand there are many Fiesta versions from that time and was wondering if anyone could kindly steer me ;) on an approperiate route :D Thanks guys and girls
  24. Retro Fitting Front Fog Lights

    Hi there, I recently purchased and successfully fitted fog lights and a new switch to a 2006 ford focus mark .2 I've found the correct wires for the fog lights in the wiring loom that goes to the main headlights. When I activate the switch though, no power is fed to these wires. The front fog light warning light on the dash illuminates so I'm assuming the switch is working fine. I can't see any record of there being a separate fuse for the front fogs and the relay seems to be shared by the front and rear fogs. The only assumption I can draw is that the relay fitted to cars with no front fogs is different in some way to those that have factory fitted front fogs. Does anyone know if this is the case, and if so what relay it is that I need to get the front fogs working? If this is not the case, any ideas where I should next check? Any help and information is greatly appreciated! Cheers Chris
  25. Hi, i've never replaced brake pads/disks before seen as this is only my first car and so I'm not sure if this looks right. I thought the pads would make good contact with the disks and be flat/flush against the disk but instead they look at an angle and tapered. Is this normal?
