Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Was wondering if anyone had ever had the Ford Convenience Check: http://m.ford.co.uk/OwnerServices/ConvenienceCheck It says they connect a diagnostic tool to download software updates as part of this, which I'm guessing will be ECU updates? Was thinking of booking one for this but I'm guessing if software updates are available these will be extra on top?
  2. Hey all, new member here but I've been hanging around a while. I've just purchased a 2005 1.8Tdci Mk2 Focus Titanium. In lovely condition all round for the milage (121k) especially inside, full service history, and didnt cost too much either. I'm just wondering what parts I should service / replace myself now, and any additions you all would recommend. I've already replaced the glow plugs as they were rather blackened and reluctant to heat up, replaced the air filter, and fitted the mist washer jets. What else should I look out for under the bonnet? Obviously the 125k service will be coming up where a fair amount will need to be checked, I just want to be on top of everything before that comes around so I dont get any nasty suprises. I've also heard very good things about the remap on the 1.8Tdci, is that still recommended for an engine with this amount of miles? Thanks for your time!
  3. Hi, This morning I noticed that my engine management light lit up on my dash, there's no noise issues, no misfiring... Car seems to be working like normal to be honest! I ran the ford self diagnostic test and it told me that there were no DTCs, now as I understand it the DTCs are the fault codes are they not? So I was just wondering if anyone knew why the engine management light would come on if there aren't any faults? My local garage want to charge me 60 quid to run a diagnostic, which I don't fancy doing if there isn't anything wrong with my car... I considered purchasing a diagnostic tool to reset the light but not sure if this would be wise? I have a ford fiesta mk6, 58 plate. Any suggestions/input would be much appreciated. Martin
