Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. DRL Front Fog Lights

After seeing this thread where another member put these fogs lights into a transit, I thought they looked pretty good and saw that the same seller also sells some for a Fiesta. Now I know in the thread says they are fully legal but I thought you're not allowed to retrofit LED's to the front light (only allowed if they come from the factory) Can anyone shed any light on this? Another question is would I need to inform my insurance of this as its an external modification? Here is the link to the fiesta version.
  2. Does anyone know if the day time running LED's on the fiesta can be reprogrammed? I have a mate with a Golf R which has LED taillights and he has managed to reprogramme the sequencing of them. I'd be interested to have them work in a similar way to the way new Audi indicators operate.
  3. Aftermarket DRLs

Hi, I've purchased some aftermarket DRLs for my Fiesta. What's the best ignition-live wire in the vicinity of the passenger headlight to wire them up to? Thanks
  4. I have a C-max without DRL. Now, whenever I have my lights on "automatic" I have no lights during the day. I want to change that. But, I also want everything to work automatic. I can buy DRL's and a relay to automatically switch off the DRL when the xenon lights turn on. Only question is, how do I connect this? I have seen that there are a few fuses related to DRL (http://www.fordmanuals.org/page-867.html). But I'm not sure if these are wired by default and if so, which fuse to use. My target: When lights are switched to automatic When there is enough daylights NOT to enable my xenon headlamps I want my drl to be on When my xenon switches on automatically I want my drl to be off (for this I can use a relay). What I want to connect: I will connect the main power of the relay to a power output that is enabled or disabled by switching lights to automatic. I want to connect 1 wire of this relay to the fuse of the xenon lamps, this will cause the drl to switch off when xenon is switched on automatically by the car And of course the drl will be connected to the relay. When I look into the fuse overview I find: Daytime running lamps ignition supply to lighting control switch daytime running lamps (parking lamps) - it would be nice if my drl could also function as parking lamps Daytime running lamps Who can tell me what fuses I can use?
  5. hi i have had my mondeo titanium x business 14 plate for a few months now and the daytime running lamp have gone out on the drivers side but it works when the side or main beam is on. it came back on for about 2 weeks then went back out again. i have checked the socket thinking it might be a loose connection but i cant see anything. i was just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what this could be as I've been looking for any information about what it could be and haven't been able to find anything.
  6. Mk3 drls

OK so I would really like some drls but £200+ for oems just ain't gonna happen. That sort of money would be put towards a remap. So I'm looking at these 'fang' style ones. Adding a link is a pain from my phone but I'm sure you know what I mean. I think Keifer put some on his. They're about £60 from 'UK' sellers and about half that from Hong Kong. Now I am well aware of Chinese quality issues but I was wondering if anyone had had positive experience of these and if there is actually any difference to the same style sold by apparently UK sellers. Is the only difference being patient enough to wait a month for them to arrive do you think?
  7. DRL Install Question

Hey everyone, I don't know where the best place to post this topic would be. But I would love to install DRL's on my MK7 Fiesta but would like some recommendation on buying them and installing them. If anyone knows any good DRL's that I could get, please drop a reply! Thanks a lot in a advance.
  8. I have a 2014 plate Ford Fiesta and have recently changed the headlights from daytime running to the fancier led daytime running lights. All the bulbs seem to be working fine (they light up) but just noticed today when driving in the dark when my dipped beam on one side seems to travel a bit further than the other. So if you imagine one side the light travels 2 car lengths in front (not accurate just easy to explain) where as the other side only reaches one cars length. Is it a simple replacement bulb or is there more to it than that? Or am I missing something else? Thanks Tom
  9. Was looking into buying DRL's for my purple little fiesta, went to Ford asking about it, had a quotation for upwards of £600 which included; new switch, DRL's, wiring, and activation within the software.. this to me sounds like more hassle than it's worth. I've been watching tutorials on using relays or even directly hard wiring them to the battery and then to the ignition live of the headlights, this is good but I would like some control of them. would it be at all possible to disconnect my rear fog light from its switch, and run aftermarket DRL's on this switch? Or am I asking for a lot of hassle once again? Many thanks :)
  10. Ford Nolden DRL Issues

Hi, I've just fitted a set of Ford Nolden DRL's to my MK3, but they are not working correctly. They are working in the same way as the sidelights would. If the sidelights would normally be off, then the DRL's are off. If the sidelights would normally be on, then the DRL's will be on. They do not dip to 50% when the lights are on normal beam. The instructions say to cut the earth loop and solder it to what you'd expect the power lead to be (red). Instead of this, I just popped the two pins out of the 3-pin connector and swapped them over. I attached the earth loop to the earth point shown in the instructions, and crimped the power to the piggy-back fuse holder and swapped it out with the fuse in point 42. I'm assuming these connections are correct as I'm getting power to the DRL's. Instead of cutting the wires to the sidelights, I removed the bulbs and scotch-blocked the blue wire to the yellow/blue wire on the headlight loom. Any ideas?
  11. Chinese DRL fog light inserts

Hi, has anyone tried the Chinese DRL fog light inserts as sold on eBay and AliExpress? I'm interested in knowing how well they fit and how effective they are. Thanks.
  12. Fog Light DRL Upgarde

Hi, I have a ford fiesta Zetec S Mk7.5 built just before the DRLs became standard LEDs. I Has anyone had any experience with fitting these? OR anything similar? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Fiesta-LED-DRL-Front-Fog-Light-Kit-2005-2016-ST-Zetec-S-MK6-MK7-MK7-5-Van-/252475181181?hash=item3ac8b1887d:g:0U8AAOSwd2xXQHBm Thanks in advance, Tom
  13. DRL on 2011 Mk3 Focus

So I do love my new car, but really feel it is missing DRL. I like the look for these lights http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331730784026?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT As I have never done any electrical work on a car before, I am wondering how easy/straight forward they are to fit? I would be tempted to ask a garage to fit them for me, but unsure if garages will fit parts that I have supplied? Has anyone fitted these ones before? How do they look? Do they work ok when you have auto lights?
  14. DTRL and front parking sensors

Hi guys Picking up my 12-plate Titanium Focus tomorrow, just wondering if any of you have any suggestions regarding fitting front parking sensors (colour-coded) and Daytime Running Lights (the ones in the headlights, not the grill). I'm not doing it myself!! I'm looking for someone in South Wales to do it for me professionally, somewhere near the Aberdare area but anywhere between Cardiff and Swansea would be fine. If you know of someone I could get a quote from, or have any ideas, itd be very much appreciated! Thanks!! Jody
  15. Fies

    From the album Fies

  16. Hi, forum members. I have ordered a new 1.6 ford focus ecoboost, and waiting for its delivery. I was wondering do they come with DRL's or will i have to purchase them separately. Been trying to find the answer searching the internet. I am aware they are mandatory, from 2011 just haven't seen a focus with them switched on, hence the question. Many thanks
  17. Sorry if this has been spoken about already but I'm going to be ordering my fiesta ST-3 in a couple weeks and am planning everything already in my head. I wanted to know if you could change the colour of the LED Daytime Running Lights? I'm getting panther black and would love to change these to yellow.
  18. Retrofits For Mk3 Focus

Well finally got rid of the 2008 MK2.5 Focus Titanium TDCI and moved onto a 2014 Focus Titanium Navigator 1.0 ecoboost. Was disappointed to find it didn't have some of the toys I expected. Mainly DRL. But my question to anyone in the know is what can be retrofitted easily to this car and what would affect the remaining two years warranty?
  19. Focus Mk3.5 No Drls

Hey, I have a new 2015 Focus Mk3.5 Zetec, only thing which I find a bit strange is why there are no day time running lights? I wasn't expecting LED ones, but like I have a 2014 Fiesta Zetec which has them using normal bulbs, and I have even seen them on all the Ford transit vans now. So I was expecting the Focus which is the latest newer model to definitely have them, seeing as virtually all new cars do now. Has anyone got any idea what Ford were thinking?? The Ford dealer did contact me to ask me what I thought of the car, this is like a courtesy call they must be forced to make by Ford. I told them I was a bit disappointed but they showed absolutely no interest. Anyways, apparently the optional original factory fitted LED headlights cost £237.31 each plus around £230 fitting and reprogramming. This is subject to the wiring being there. I got this info from another Ford garage parts department that were a lot more helpful. I don't think I can justify paying out for them now, I should have added them as part of the appearance pack that's available. However, I do feel pretty short changed when I see cheap smart cars, Vauxhalls, and white Transit vans driving round with them!
  20. Where Do You Connect Drl?

Hi there everyone, I just bought one of these http://i.imgur.com/tbP0k9r.jpg and I was wondering where do I need to connect it to, to make it switch on when I switch on the engine? (eBay item http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flexible-2-PCS-12V-Car-DRL-Fog-Strip-Daytime-Running-Bright-COB-White-Lights-/281481299839?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item418997c77f ) Thanks in advance. Regards
  21. I own a 2007 Ford Five Hundred SEL. I just got some great DRL from iJDMToy. I want these lights to come on with the ignition. I checked my fuse box and found there's a fuse slot for Fog Lightsa, not in use. I connected the positive wire of fogs to the fuse slot, tested both ends, no matter what I do (and no matter what fuse I try) the lights stay ON and do not turn on/off with ignition on/off, they just stay ON. How can I connect these so the Ignition on/off (which is only a relay not a fuse) turn on/off my lights?
  22. Drl Help....please

Hi Lads, I've recently installed some rather bright running lights to the Focus....they look fantastic during the day, but are far too bright in the evening, even using a dimmer auto switch. So I have installed a switch so I can simply turn them on/off as and when. All is well at this point. So to try and take it to the next level. I wanted them to turn on with my footwell lights too (for when I unlock the car for example) So I attempted what I thought was a circuit but I am having issues with the lights staying on all of the time so I have had to disconnect them Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong....I'd imagine I'm way off where I need to be
  23. hi guys currently my bumper is standard and doesnt have place where to install fogs, so i wish to do a cover which can hold drls in them or some leds. can anyone point me to the right direction please? see pictures thanks
  24. Hello people of FOC. I'm new here and well, new to owning a fiesta. Got my lovely red 2013 1.0 Ecoboost Zs on saturday and prior to that already started buying various mods (mainly lights etc.. as seen on these forums). Absolutely over the moon with this car (after going from a renault clio 1.2 that was on breaking coilovers). There's just this one thing wrong with the car i was wondering if someone could help me about. The daytime running lights.. i imagine all fiesta's are like this but what should be the dipped lights are the DRL, and the tiny bulb inbetween the lights is the dipped.. is there anyway i can switch the wires around to make the small bulb be the DLR and dipped light obviously the dipped. http://s660.photobucket.com/user/Rogue-_-Shadow/media/Wesley/Bulb%20Guide/Photo440.jpg.html?t=1273328721 (yes this is a picture i pulled from google but it's just so you can see what bulbs i mean, hopefully) Hopefully it's a simple job as im no car electrition and only wires ive messed around with are wiring up a stereo.
  25. Nolden Drl's And Sidelights

Hi, I have bought some Nolden Daytime running lights for my 2011 Focus. I am aware that one step needs to be skipped in the UK, as to not disable the sidelights when fitting otherwise it would fail an MOT. What I was wondering was, will the DRL's dim when the sidelights are turned on or just when dipped beams are on or will it need to be rewired slightly differently?
