Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. hi all my keyless entry fob is munching its way through 4 batteries a month any suggestions on what can be done to fix it or do I need a new key?
  2. Hello guys new here just looking for some help on my focus OK so I drove it all day no problem parked it up jumped into it as usual the next day tried to start the car (push button)And nothing all lights on the dash come on you can hear clicks going on but still nothing battery is brand new 2 weeks old I did a test in the engine fuse box with a wire were the starter relay would be to check if the starter motor was dead but no engine turns over as if it wanted to start as normal i have also tried jump start obviously i can only think it's some kind of electrical problem some were any body had this problem?
  3. Hi all i am trying to get another keyfob programmed for my 2014 ST however when the guy plugs in his device into the OBD port he does not get any power. I have been told to check all fuses and after sending it to a car electrics specialist he says all fuses are fine and present and that there is another deeper problem. Has anyone experienced this before?
  4. Ford Focus 2002 I bought a used Ford Focus about two weeks ago. Remote wasn't working but previous owner "guessed" I only needed to change battery in the fob. This is what I have tried this far: - Changed battery in fob twice. - Opened the fob to visually inspect the remote's circuit board. - Tried "programming" the remote by turning key in ignition 4 times to slot II (I hear the first chime from the car, but not the second chime when pressing the remote buttons.) - I have checked the common error 'Fuse 63' and made sure it is not broken (with an electric device). Remote appears to be "dead" so I have ordered a new remote from a locksmith. But perhaps the remote itself isn't the problem? What else could it be? I read in this thread: http://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/ford-focus-central-locking.44797/page-2 ...that they recommend unplugging and re-plugging a box marked with 'Siemens' (the remote receiver box?). But I'm not used to repairing cars so I don't know where to locate it. What do you suggest I try to get things working?
  5. So I just went out to my car and the fob wouldn't unlock it. I tried my spare and still nothing. Changed the battery and still nothing. I can open the car with the key but obviously it sets the alarm off! Any ideas what this could be and how much it will cost to fix? Thanks in advance!!
  6. No remote key

Apologies if this has been posted before. I have spent sometime looking but it's difficult to find a post that answers all of my queries for my specific situation. I recently purchased a 2013 Ford Mondeo Estate 2.0 TDCi but the car only came with 2 normal keys (see attached image), no remote key was supplied. These keys are a real pain because I have to open the drivers door, put the key in, and switch on the ignition before anyone else can open a door. if I don't do this the alarm will go off. We I look on eBay I can see that there are a lot of uncut key fobs for sale at a reasonable price but no one is selling a key for 2012 and above Mondeos. I have found a few keys which are the I think are specification I need but they go for £60 plus. Whats more, they fob seems to be a key-less entry system. The manual that came with my car explains how to program a new key but putting the key in the ignition and following a procedure but I'm not sure how this would work with a key-less system. Could someone please shed some light on this for me? Specifically, I'd like to know: What are my options ie am I forced to get a key-less fob or could I also get a remote key? Can I program the key myself? Is there anyway I can go about this for a reasonable price? If I get a remote key and program it, will it also switch off the alarm? Apart from this problem I am happy with the car and am enjoying driving it. Chris.
  7. Hi All My daughter has a 2006 Ka with central locking which works fine, but a friend of ours is breaking a StreeKa which has central locking operated from the keyfob. My question is can I use parts from his to upgrade hers to the same system? Obviously I will need the keyfob, but is there a control unit that I can just swap from his to hers or is it not that easy. The StreetKa is a 2004 winter edition and all parts are available, so if anyone needs anything let me know. Thanks in advance.
  8. hi guys, probably been done to death but iv just bought a ford fiesta 2014 which only came with one key (the electronic remote type). Roughly how much will it cost me to get a spare key made from an auto locksmith? Also is it worth making sure the spare is also the electronic remote type or would it make more sense to get a manual key? Im based in the sheffield area if anyone knows any good auto locksmiths. Best price i have been quoted so far is 65 for manual key and 125 for electronic Thanks in advance James
  9. Replacing lost focus remote fob

So, I've lost my 3 button remote key fob for my 55 plate Focus. I don't want to pay Ford £££££££ for a new one and I've seen posts here about getting the but and reprogramming new fobs yourself?
  10. Hi all, I have an 02 plate Focus 1.6 Ghia which I bought with only 1 key. Its the non-remote type with the blue clip in it. I wanted to get the remote central locking working before I splash out on a full remote key (can't afford it at the moment) so I bought these - 2x Replacement Keyless Entry Remote Key Clicker Transmitter for Ford UK Ship New and have followed all the guides I can find online to program them but I cannot get the car to recognise them. If I turn the key between II and 0 4 times I get the beep to say it's entered programming mode but I cannot get it to do anything else when pressing the keys on the fobs. Am I doing something wrong? I'd like to make sure this works before I go to the expense of getting a proper Ford replacement remote key. Thanks in advance everyone
  11. Gem Module Help!

  12. Fiesta Central Locking

OK I have a Ford fiesta zetec 1.4 tdci 2004 and I bought it with a key with no fob. So I recently bought a new key with a fob. It's starting the car I just don't know how to programme it to work the central locking. Have tried one way where I turn from 0 to 2 on ignition 4 time then hear beep, but I hear no beep!! Some help!!!!!!
  13. Hi, I lost my spare key fob for my Focus Zetec 2012 so ordered a new one from ebay as well as a new blade to go in it that matches my key code. I have the following keyfob: http://i.imgur.com/kx2KR3t.png I am unable to find anywhere a guide to programming the buttons for a 2011/2012 focus. Would anyone be able to give me advice on this? Thanks!
  14. Fiesta 1.4 Zetec 2003 Key Fob

Hi peeps! Im new to forums. I have a ford fiesta 1.4 zetec (53 reg), i bought it recently and i only got one key i assumed not main key as non remote key). i assumed that the car has remote locking (as my friend has a 2004 version and has remote locking). What is the main key for this car supposed to look like?? :) And does this car have remote locking? how do i find out if it does!!! Because i bought a new style flip 3 button key from ebay ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121119273771?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 ) and then realized that the car may not have remote locking. so i want to make sure before i cut the new key! Thanks a lot!! :)
  15. Ford Focus 07 Keyfob Problem

Hi everyone. I have a problem with my key fob, I thought the battery was dead so I changed it..still didn't work. Tried reprogramming as per manual 4x 0 to 2 within 6 seconds and I get the initial beep from the dash then I pressed button on fob, and no beep! So I done a google search, seemed like faulty fob so I sent my key away to get repaired on eBay, cost £14 and got it back today. Now when I do the reprogramming I get 1st beep then when I press the fob I get another beep...whala!! NOT! The central locking still doesn't work :-( does anyone have any idea of what to do next ???? Thanks in advance. Focus 2007 1.6 petrol Zetec
  16. Lost Key

Hi Guys, I lost my main car key last night (using the spare just now). Not quite sure if it was outside or it's hiding inside the girlfriends house. Anyway, I was wondering what the best thing to do is? I have a spare, uncut, uncoded key but I'm not sure whether I should go the whole hog and get the ignition barrel, etc replaced? If it's outside and someone tried to use it with the codes changed, would they still be able to open the car? I'm not that clued up when it comes to lock-smithery! Any advice?
  17. Hi all, I've just programmed a new (ford) key remote to my car and the key no longer starts the engine. Luckily i have the (blue) master key which still works. It's a mk3 mondeo 2001. I followed instructions: 4 x ign on in 6secs pushed button on new remote and button on existing remote. Both remotes work fully. It's just the everyday key the remote slides onto that has stopped working (won't start engine). Anyone got any idea why key has stopped working and can i fix without a visit to the dealer? Thanks Ant
  18. Hi All, I am hoping for some help, so if anyone can give me some advice on the following I would be very grateful. Just recently my Y Reg focus has experienced a fault with the central locking. The passenger door no longer locks / unlocks via the central locking from either the remote fob or the drivers door. I will explain the scenarios i have witnessed. 1. When using either the remote fob, or the key in the drivers lock, or the switch on the inside of the drivers door, the drivers door and the rear doors all lock, but then immediately unlock again. The passenger door does not even attempt to lock and i imagine this is the reason that the other locks unlock again immediately. 2. If sat inside the car, pressing the switch on the inside of the passenger door does lock / unlock the passenger door, and all of the other doors via the central locking system. 3. If I lock the passenger door from inside the car using the switch and then get out of the drivers door and close the doors up, all of the other doors will lock using either the remote fob or the key, and they stay locked as I had already previously locked the passenger door from inside. Then when I unlock the doors either by the remote fob or the key, all doors except the passenger door will unlock as they are supposed to, but the passenger door stays locked. So, from the above, to me, the locking mechanism and motor of the passenger door appears to work fine, but not when given a signal from either the drivers door or remote fob via the central locking system. Could this be something as simple as a broken / damaged wire leading from the central locking unit to the passenger door motor, or is there something else in line that could cause this problem? If it is likely to be a broken wire, can anyone suggest where this break may be? maybe it is a common issue and there is a snag point which often causes a wire break? Anyway this is driving me crazy having to ensure i lock / unlock the passenger door from inside before being able to lock / unlock the rest of the car so if anyone can offer me some advice I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance, Marc
  19. Ford Fiesta Toad Alarm Problem

Hi, I have a Toad alarm on my fiesta (fitted by previous owner) and i'm having a few problems with it. The alarm is supposed to beep 5 times when locking the vehicle, but recently it has only been beeping once. I then have to wait for the alarm to go off before it resets itself, or wait for about an hour before it will work properly. I'm not sure which model of alarm it is, but it has a green fob with two larger buttons (to lock and unlock) and two smaller buttons (unsure of what they do). Any help or advice would be appreciated. Sam.
