Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hi all, In a similar style to the MK1 Focus thread I started yesterday I am also looking for common problems on MK2 Focus models. I will also be looking to eventually put together a buyers guide for these models so any feedback you could give would be much appreciated! :) James
  2. Hello, I have a Ford Focus Mk1 2003 Face lift, I have an issue with my OSR (Driver's side rear) brake light, it doesn't seem to work. The NSR (Passanger side rear) and third brake light work fine and the rear side lights work, even the drivers side as the bulb is a dual filment. I have checked the bulb and its fine, I have checked the bulb fitment for resistance and its fine(also cleaned it), fuses are okay and the the wiring from the light to the body of the car seems okay just looking and moving them around. Any ideas would be most appreciated with it being dark most of the time at this time of the year in the UK. Cheers Andy
  3. Ford Escort 1.6 Finesse for sale 39,000 miles W reg - August 2000 Moondust silver metallic FSH from new Excellent condition inside and out Belonged to my elderly father who passed away earlier this year and now looking for a good home as the car was his pride and joy. Please note the car has no MOT/no roadtax as the car was taken off the road earlier this year. However, it has only covered around 300 miles since the last MOT and service(2016). Happy to provide photos if required. Will consider all sensible offers. Would love it to go to an enthusiast.
  4. O.K, so the Aluminium part of your foot pedal just fell off? Mine did a month and a half ago. I temporarily glued it back in place whilst ordering a genuine new one. Thinking this would be an easy swap I set about it. A few hours (and a lot of frustration later I managed the task). I couldn't find anything helpful online so I thought I'd write a quick guide of how I managed this. The pedal in question was the Clutch pedal, but I presume it'll be the same fro the Brake pedal too. Insure you have a lamp, a small mirror and a flat stubby screwdriver to assist you doing this correctly. Place the new pedal cover into a bowl of boiling water for around 10 minutes. Dry off the pedal cover and head to the car to begin fitting. (#1) Install the bottom of the pedal cover first (as it's the smaller area). (#2) Insert the upper left corner next (this is the awkward corner as you are inhibited by the pedal support arm) (#3) Then run your screwdriver up the side to ensure the rubber between #1 & #2 is correctly fitted. (#4) Fit the top right corner next. (#5) Run your screwdriver across the top to ensure the rubber between #2 & #4 is correctly fitted. (#6) Finally pull down on the right side tab to assist you using your screwdriver to ensure this rubber is correctly in place. This sounds fairly simple to do, but in practice it can be a bit of a dog to successfully get all of the rubbers on in place. You will need to apply pressure to the pedal cover against the pedal itself to get parts to stay on whilst moving on to the next step. Obviously if the pedal cover slips off then you should start again and drop it back into boiling water. I've attached a few images for assistance. I hope this guide helps at least one person out, please leave a comment below if so. Thanks in advance.
  5. I have a Ford FiestaLX 2003 petrol. It's getting pretty cold now and the last 2 days my car has not been starting properly. When I start the engine the revs go up and then normally they drop down to about 1, but at the moment they go all the way to 0 and the car doesn't start. the only way I can get the car moving is by using the accelerator to force more revs so it will move. however, when I stop the car at the junction right by my house, it doesn't stall, it just stops. I have no idea what the problem could be, a friend of mine suggested it could be the choke, but I don't know where the choke is on my car. any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Louie
  6. Hi, I just bought a ford focus titanium model (2015) and wanted to add sat nav. Rather than buy the sat nav from the dealer I foolishly bought a sat nav sd card from ebay here is the link to the item I bought: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191658107200?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I was wondering where I install this in the newest ford focus. I read online that there was something in the glove box or attached to the unit but I can't find anything. There is a Sd Card slot in the arm rest, when I inserted the SD Card here nothing happened. Anyone know how you install the sat nav updates to the latest model of Ford Focus. All I can get from google is vague links about older models. Thanks so much in advance. David
  7. Hi again Guys & Girls , so i was gonna do some performance mods but you guys have shown me i cant hope for much with my 1.2L style + ahh well i guess i can live with that :P, but not one to like leaving things as they are im now looking into visual mods more. As previously intended i think im going to go for a Pumaspeed Body kit with the Excessive spoiler... because well i can really. http://www.pumaspeed...k_911.jsp&pic=6 as my car is black obviously i will be matching the body kit to that. i think im going to go for a Black theme with bits of yellow and carbon fibre dotted around it for example im thinking of getting these carbon fibre mirror caps http://www.mountunes...Fibremirrorcaps and a yellow lacker for my brake calipers because i thought it would add a nice bit of colour without looking too tacky but hey its my first car so in my opinion tack is allowed ;) http://www.demon-twe...-engine-lacquer I also think im going to get these alloys from mountune (although i was hoping for advice as my wheels currently are 15" but these are 17" so obviously new tyres would be needed but i was thinking that would probably affect the speedo too ? would it not?) so yeah what would i do about that? and is it even possible http://www.mountunes...une--MS--Alloys unless you guys can suggest something else (maybe cheaper?) i was wondering if you guys had any ideas for the inside of the car? Any comments would be great so thanks in advance guys
  8. Hi guys, Brand new to the forums and to the moding culture as well. I’m due to pick up my Focus ST Line next Thursday and have been looking st various minor mods I could make to start off and I’ve noticed a topic popping up more frequently in various forums; the lack of grill bagde for the ST Line models. Im a senior graphic designer, worked for companies both large and small so I have a good idea on how I can replicate the branding used on the wing badges and have it manufactured as a bolt on badge through the grill. It wouldn’t look like the wing badge has just been put on the front. The ST logo itself, the line and the word “Line” will be laser cut (will cleverly join them all into one so it’s cheaper to cut). I’m just wondering if it’s something people would be interested in? Not got figures or anything like that as of yet but I’m just wondering if it’s worth trying and giving ST Line owners something they can use? I’m interested in seeing the response. thanks guys!
  9. Hello everyone, I seem to be having a issue after I de-tangoing my headlights. The passenger side headlight's cut off seems to go way above the other. Basically I'm in for a MOT next month and I'm a little scared it will fail due to this. Any ideas on what I've done would be great. I think I may have scratched the inside of the plastic or possibly knocked the ballast off. If anyone's had this issue please let me know below. Thanks alot
  10. Curtain Airbag recall

Hi all, my first post, Ive had my Ford Edge Sport 5 months and love the car. Last week i got a letter from ford that my car has to have the curtain airbags replaced, now having worked in a body shop i knew this prob wont be straight forward as the roof lining and all side trims etc have to be removed. Now the car went into fords today for the work and it was immaculate when it went in and now i have black marks all over the roof lining, sun visors, side trims, broken clips on the side trims and cross threaded screws, I'm so disappointed as it doesn't even look like they have cleaned the car after. I detail cars for a living which makes it worse as I'm so particular about everything. Has anyone else had this recall on there edge. Allan
  11. Dashboard cluster removal

Hello, I'm having a little trouble removing the dashboard from my mk6.5 (STyle) fiesta. I have removed the following Steering wheel upper trim Steering wheel lower trim The trim below the steering wheel (to gain access to the trim infront of the dashboard cluster) The trim infront of the cluster And two screws at the bottom of the cluster. I tried giving it a little pull but it seemed like I'm missing something, any help would be appreciated. I have looked at a few guides but they removed the rubber trim above the cluster and it doesn't look possible on my car.
  12. Hi everyone This is my little Courier van, I chose this as it is the perfect size for my business requirements, originally looking at Caddy vans, all the ones I looked at were damaged and just not in a clean condition. I saw this advertised at my local Evans Halshaw (Hull) and went for a viewing and test drive, it's the 'Trend' model with the 1.6L engine which I hear is rarer than the 1.5, no idea if that's true. Absolutely delighted with the van, drives just like a car 👍👍 Modifications so far: • 18" Team Dynamics 'Imola' alloys • lowered 45mm • Tinted windows (Light) • Tinted side and rear indicators • 'Team Heko' wind reflectors • Upgraded LED daytime running lights • Fiesta ST interior foot pedals • Black gel overlays on Ford badges • Chrome door latch covers =============== Tons of things yet to be done, including full colour coding which is up next, along with fitting a front lower spoiler from an ST once the bumper has been painted. Here is the van at the dealers: Once home the first thing I did was tint the side and rear clear lenses along with upper brake light: I then fitted chrome door latch covers which I think is a nice touch: The windows were tinted, wind deflectors etc were fitted then I recently added the alloys and a good friend dropped the suspension for me. I spent hours and hours researching what suspension would fit perfect, there really isn't a lot on the net about these vans so I've had to put some hours in to find out the info. Here is the van as it currently stands today, I've blanked out the rear sign writing as I'm sure this would be in the rules of the forum? Hope you all like the progress so far, colour coding up next.
  13. 2 weeks ago I bought a 2012 fiesta zetec s. Since a couple of days after I bought it, the car was struggling to start a wee bit. I thought this might be because the person I bought it off barely ran it, and I mainly use it to drive to work and back (10 minutes from home). The car recently has been struggling to start a wee bit more (even if I took it big runs to charge the battery), it could sit for a few hours then it would not turn over and sound really powerless when turning the key, with lights on the dashboard flickering too. But it eventually would start. For the interior light to turn off and the dashboard to go off, the car must be locked. Is this right for this kind of car? A few times when turning the key, there has been a noise that sounds just like the noise it makes when the petrol light goes on. Just want to check that this sounds like the car battery is on it's way out before I buy a new one? And it's not another kind of problem?
  14. How do all? Been a while since I had a Ford, but always had the need for one in my life. Needed something a little cheaper than my previous motor(Honda S2000), so got me a 2004 Ka Sport SE last week from West London. It survived my drive home to Chichester area, and also two daily commutes up to Crawley area. It's got issues...but of course, this is an introduction thread Anyways, happy Wednesday y'all!

  16. I finally got LED headlight installed, easy to do, as shown in the figure below. Ok, I finally got them installed. Pretty easy to do, easy for a 2015 that is since you have to install bulbs from underneath through the fenders. They're pretty bright too, although I haven't seen them at night yet. I'll get some night shots tonight. That last pic is LEDs on the right, factory on the left. I already had LED bulbs in my fogs.
  17. Hello everyone, I need your help! So angry, my new Ford car taillight is broken, it worked just one week. I wonder there is any good brands to suggest, and the raily type of my car taillight where I can known. ford led light Novsight
  18. Morning all I own a ford focus CL 2003 and along with many others my bonnet lock has failed. I have ordered the lock repair kit from ford but I can find a decent tutorial on how to code the barrel to my key and fit the new barrel and rod. The catch is working fine - the barrel and rod is missing. Can anyone help !! Thanks Liam
  19. Hi,Can anyone help me find the DAB functionality on my Ford Sony DAB radio?I have a ford focus 2014 st with a standard FM/AM radio. I bought a replacement off ebay........a Ford Sony DAB radio (part BM5T-18C815-XK, serial Z010263). A professional installer came to swap it over but he couldn't find the DAB menu?? Only the FM and AM stations. We tried every button & menu but to no avail. We didn't connect the digital aerial but in any case, surely the unit should have still been able to offer the DAB menu and simply said "no reception"? The seller advertised it as DAB and indeed it does say DAB on the case.See pics attached. Any advice or help would be really appreciated. Many thanks
  20. Hello, I've just purchased a Ford Ka 2011 and it has just a USB port, no aux. When I connect my iPod I have no control over it as the screen shows the connected imagE. Is there anything I can buy, an adapter perhaps, so that I can connect my iPod and have control over the screen so I can choose what I want to play?

  22. Does a car of this year and model show mobile phone signal strength on the left hand screen? Cant seem to find it and my Wife's horrible orange display does! Driving me mad!
  23. As title, can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether a sync-era display and sony branded radio can be fitted to a non-sync (BT/VC system) car, and bluetooth still work - less bothered about nav voice control, but voice control in general I could also do with keeping functional. Thanks Mark
