Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Escort mk6 engine swaps

I am going to buy a mk6 escort van soon and I was wondering what performance engines would fit (with turbos and such) From any manufacturer Just what will fit well
  2. Hi all, Just wondering if it's possible to change the colour of my dashboard speedo/gauge lights? (Shown in picture) ive managed to work out how to get the cluster part out, however I need to know if this is a case of a bulb change or if it's a "skin"...not sure of the proper name for it. if it is a bulb does anyone know the size of it? And if it's possible to replace with LED bulbs? thanks in advance any help I would be really great full as I cannot find for the life of me any info on this.
  3. Hello everyone! I've finally got around to buying more (moondust silver) paint and since I did quite a reasonable job respraying my spoiler (will supply pictures later when it's on) and I did well spraying my grilles, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on removing the stock (fiesta mk6.5 style) wing mirror cover. I know how to paint it but removing it without breaking anything would be nice to know. Alot of my current improvements are just pot luck so with this one I'd prefer to know. Just a little add-on question also, everyone who has them painted seems to have only half of it painted (I assume due to covers being smaller) shall I paint the full back or mask it off 3/4 down like others seem to have. I hope you understand what I'm saying because it's difficult to explain lol
  4. Hey guys, So I have a Mk6 Fiesta Zetec 1.4 5 door. I love the car, it's quite nippy considering the lowish power output and it runs well, however it's done 130k miles and I can feel it's a little on it way out. I sorted a leaky head gasket by flushing all coolant and then applying some radweld! It seems to be sealed for now, also I feel the gear box is a bit dodgy on occasion as it sometimes struggles to go into 4th. Anyway, having a 5 door fez is very useful as I hate having to get out to let people in the car and I've always considered some form of sleeper, since the engine may be on its way out is and I'd just replace it. Is there any engines that would be a superior upgrade and would be fairly straightforward? I literally have no upgrades at the moment and if you have any for the 1.4 that are good to get, that would be helpful too for now rather than a whole engine swap. But overall, I was thinking a 5 door fiesta st150 would be cool! So to sum up, TL:DR, any mod ideas for the 1.4? Willing to spend £1000 max! Alternatively, a suitable engine swap that would be an upgrade with some mod-ability. Look forward to your replies! Cheers guys, Josh
  5. Hello everyone, I seem to be having a issue after I de-tangoing my headlights. The passenger side headlight's cut off seems to go way above the other. Basically I'm in for a MOT next month and I'm a little scared it will fail due to this. Any ideas on what I've done would be great. I think I may have scratched the inside of the plastic or possibly knocked the ballast off. If anyone's had this issue please let me know below. Thanks alot
  6. Dashboard cluster removal

Hello, I'm having a little trouble removing the dashboard from my mk6.5 (STyle) fiesta. I have removed the following Steering wheel upper trim Steering wheel lower trim The trim below the steering wheel (to gain access to the trim infront of the dashboard cluster) The trim infront of the cluster And two screws at the bottom of the cluster. I tried giving it a little pull but it seemed like I'm missing something, any help would be appreciated. I have looked at a few guides but they removed the rubber trim above the cluster and it doesn't look possible on my car.
  7. I have a 2006 mk6 fiesta zetec s and I want to know if it's possible to do a straight swap and have an ST engine put straight in, if this is possible I want to know how much it usually costs for the complete conversion
  8. Seat swap

Hi all, new here, just wondering if it would be possible to fit mk7 fiesta recaro seats in a mk6 fiesta? If so, is a s simple swap or would it require some complex alterations to the car or seats?
  9. Hello all, New to this forum so not sure if this is the correct place to be posting this question? Purchased a Mk6 Fiesta with 56k on the clock. Not bad for a 2007 model, or so I thought. Recently started to have difficulty selecting 1st gear, changing gears, and stiff to get out of reverse. Local mechanic said it sounded like clutch drag, so had them replace the clutch, pressure plate and slave cylinder / throw out bearing. When the old clutch was out of the car, they said it had worn unevenly. Problem selecting / changing gears now solved, woo! However, since having the car back, after a good drive with everything warmed up, a 'rattle' develops when in neutral and clutch pedal up, which stops when the clutch pedal is pressed. This is a new noise since having the clutch kit replaced. The internet typically suggests this would be a gearbox / input shaft bearing issue, but I am wondering the possibility of it being the TOB as the noise has only been apparent since the new clutch has been fitted, and I had never heard it with the old clutch? Only happens when hot and after some decent driving (e.g. to the shops and back would not really cause the noise to surface, but a run down the dual carriageway and back would). No noise / squealing when clutch is depressed, but wondering if the 'rattle' is from the TOB just touching the pressure plate when in neutral? Not really noticed any unusual noises when driving, just this rattle in neutral sometimes. Could it also be low gearbox oil if they have not topped the box off when replacing the driveshaft? I asked the garage if they would change the oil when changing the clutch but they said it was a sealed box so they could not change it? Surely some oil must have come out of the box when removing the driveshaft and i'm wondering if they haven't replaced it and this could be causing the noise? Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can go back to them with a better idea of whether it could be the TOB or something else such as trans fluid. Only had the clutch changed last week, with the rattle in neutral present from the day I got it back.

  11. Hey guys, long time lurker but this is my first post. I have had speedo issues with my mk6. I have had the VSS replaced and the didn't work, the auto electrician said it was the ECU. Are they just chop and change? I've noticed people selling it with keys / ignition barrels. Has anyone here changed an ECU before? Is there anything to keep an eye out for and could someone please help me find the right one for my car, as it seems to me the serial numbers are unique on them. Thanks :) Curtis
  12. Fiesta MK6 Loose Cable

Hi Guys, I have a loose cable on my MK6 Fiesta, it comes from somewhere under the ECU / battery. Any ideas where it should attach?
  13. Hi guys, After trying to find out as much info that I could to fit a heated screen into my son's Fiesta, we have now hit a brick wall. So, I'm wondering whether anybody has successfully fitted one and if so can they point me in the right direction. So this is where we're up to so far: We have had the heated screen fitted into a 2004 (54plate) Mk6 Fiesta Flame 1.4 Petrol. Unfortunately we were not lucky enough to find any wiring behind the pillar covers. So, we set about sourcing the various bits that we needed. I fitted a double switch (front and rear) in place of the existing rear heated screen switch. The connector was wired for both switches, which I took to be a good sign. Next, after purchasing cable that was man enough to handle the current for the screen, I ran a feed to both sides of the screen and connected each of them to a 32A fuse. From the fuses I then connected those to pin 5 of a Ford 70A relay (which I have mounted into the fuse box) I connected both of the earth tags on the screen to the pillar earth points. The next job was to get power to the relay which I did by running a cable from the FH 60A terminal in the engine bay fusebox and connected that to pin 3 of the relay. Pin 1 of the relay is the supply from Fuse 38 (Ignition) which I spliced into near the fusebox (that took some tracing!!), and this is also connected to one side of the switch (pin5) Now, this is where the brick wall is. The other side of the switch (pin 8) and pin 2 from the relay go to the GEM. I have looked at the GEM and there are no wires in the connecting loom from the switch (although the switch connection has the wire), nor (obviously) is there on from the relay. I understand that the GEM would control the timing that the screen was on etc. So, I have a question, would I be able to piggy back onto the heated rear screen GEM connections and understand that the screen would/may only work if the heated rear window is switched on? Or is there another way round wiring it all in but bypassing the GEM, but still being able to use the original switch? We really want to try to get this to work as my other son has just bought, yes you've guessed it, a Fiesta Flame without a heated screen! Apologies for a long winded post, and hope that it makes sense to someone. Cheers Paul
  14. Hi everyone, I have a mk6 ford fiesta diesel, 1.4tDCI, reg 07, with no cranking sound, but with a full battery and no clicking or reduction in the power of the headlights when using the ignition. I thought I should check the relay of the starter motor. It should be in the fuse box of the engine, but I can only find a fuse box in the glove compartment, as in the attached picture. I have also attached a picture of my engine. Can anyone please help me find the engine compartment fuse box? Thank you in advance, Kind Regards, George
  15. Hello, Ford Fiesta MK6 2003 1.4 16V Black Special Edition, Ref: Heater Controls / Dials With Air-Con. At the back of the unit, how many electrical sockets? 3 plugs: 2 black and 1 white? There are two variants apparently. Have posted some pictures, including a photo of the back of a Fiesta MK6 typical Air-Con/Heater Control Unit. Please help, and verify how many sockets with colours on the back of the control unit for a MK6 Black Special Edition 2003.
  16. Rhys

Hi there, i'm new to FOC and have a ford fiesta Mk6, petrol, 1.25 engine. Im new to modding and tuning cars but looking to learn as much as I can. I want to start by inproving my horsepower and top speed and improving the general look of my fiesta for a more sporty feel, any advice and tips would be great thanks :)
  17. I went up to a breakers yard today and paid £25 for a new passenger wing mirror, got home to fit it which was all fine but when I lock the car it now clicks about 6 times. I've had a look around and seen that it is a common problem, so I was wondering if there is any way to fix it or could I take apart my old mirror and swap the motor in the new one as my old mirror didn't click at all. Thanks for any help :)
  18. Anyone played around with these on a MK6 fiesta? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-3-COB-LED-Halo-Projector-Fog-Angle-Eyes-Blue-White-Ring-Light-Headlight-DRL-/152183235720?fits=Car+Make%3AFord|Model%3AFiesta|Plat_Gen%3AMK+VI&var=&hash=item236ed3e488:m:moI_4qw2C30ArfdltPWHuDA sorry if this is the wrong area, I'm in work and short on time atm. cut to the chase; they're cheap and seem like they'd go on a fiesta, I've got the facelift fog lamp covers, not the st variant ones, but as far as I know they're the same size, just different design, any chance I could get these in and keep my current fog bulbs also? Cheers lads.
  19. Hi Guys, Hoping for a bit of help. About an hour ago I got into my car and drove it for about 5 minutes. I have just tried to start my car up in order to get home however it's not starting, none of the electrics work, and it won't lock via the remote key. I managed to unlock via the key at first but now nothing seems to work. Has anyone ever came accross this before or have any advice on how to get my car started again? Kind regards Jack
  20. Boot lighting

I am considering putting another light (similar location on the left side of my boot (inside) and was just wondering if anyone else has done this. My plan is to remove the left piece of trim which holds the parcel shelf up and make a hole at the exact same position as on the right trim. I think maybe run a splice into the earth and power of the right light to supply what's needed for the left light. Basically wondering since I switched the bulb to led (lower power) will I need to upgrade the fuse or add a relay? If anyone does have a better method please post below, I'm bored and just need things to do :-) My car is a mk6.5 (56 reg) 1.25 petrol fiesta STyle.
  21. De-tangoing

I have a mk6.5 (56) fiesta and I bought some osram py21w bulbs to change out my old front indicator. They are a 581 but the fitting is (12 o'clock/7o'clock) and I needed (12o'clock/6o'clock). I'm going to buy some p21w 382 bulbs and just want to be sure I'm not doing something stupid replacing 581 with 382. Note: I have removed the plastic cover (tango) already and can't put it back. I forgot to try the bulb first (I know idiot).
  22. Hello everyone! I bought a after market spoiler from eBay (I know), it bolt/screws in and was just curious if anyone else has installed one of these. I'm just worried I may hit a wire when drilling into the boot lid. The item http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371945377026 I have a 3dr mk6.5 so it seems it will fit. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  23. Hey guys, I am looking into upgrading my car stereo, as well as my front speakers. Along the way I had the idea to fill the speaker-spaces in the reardoors, since they are empty as of now. Considering they have made space for speakers, is it possible that they've provided the car with matching wires already? I'm asking as I am not going to order 4 speakers without knowing - and I was wondering if any of you guys might know so that I don't need to remov ethe entire doorpanel just to find out and put it all back together, having nothing done on the inside. Thanks a bunch in advance! Cheers
  24. K&N Panel Air Filter MK6

Anyone recommend buying one for (mostly) an improvement to the sound of the engine? Also, anywith a video of a standard MK6 Fiesta with the K&N air filter put in to replace the normal one? Only video I've seen is some fellas on facebook, and it did seem to make a slight difference to the sound of his car, thinking of getting it on mine but don't want to spend something like £35 on something that would cost a third that normally, or less. (Edited as I overestimated the cost of it)
  25. Jack

Hi, just got my first fiesta and the colour in the seats (blue) has worn away. I'm 17 so I can afford new seats so I'm looking for some seatcovers that are a good fit.
