Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hi guys, Just a quick one to see what the most common fault would be with the brake management light been on? Seen a few different things online but normally you find a common fault with certain cars and i've only just got the car so a bit of help is needed for now Cheers
  2. Engine malfunction message

Hi everyone, Was looking for some help with an issue ive been having with my 2008 focus 1.6 tdci, this morning i had went to go fill up with fuel and as soon as i did i started the engine and got a "engine malfunction" message on the trip computer bit of the dashboard. I double checked and i definitely put the correct fuel in. I moved my car to the main car park and started looking round. Under the bonnet all seemed to be looking and soudning fine and all fluids were how they should be. I tried self diagnostic using the test menu and there were no codes found. At this point i rang my breakdown company cause i wasnt sure if driving was okay or not and he came and had a look and he removed my direct line drive plus box to plug in his diagnsotic machine and when he did so the error didnt come up. So i took it for a test run without the OBD black box and it was fine... I rang my insurance to claim that the device may be causing issues with my vehicle so they acceptet it to be unplugged for a while. Two hours later after about driving 4 miles and leaving the car for some time i came back to it and the warning came on again. This warning shows no lights on dashboard and no error codes on the ecu but every time i start the engine i now get a audible warning and a message on the trip computer with a warning triangle and engine malfunction written underneath. I called my breakdown again and they came out and had another look and the guy just said that everything seems to be fine and to take it to ford which i was hoping i wouldnt have to do. I saw online that it could be the dpf as my car is on 60k but i do a lot of motorway mileage and i drove 160 miles on the motorway home with clear traffic the whole way and had a little while with higher revs than normal too but the error is still coming up. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? All help greatly appreciated, thanks
  3. Hi, This morning I noticed that my engine management light lit up on my dash, there's no noise issues, no misfiring... Car seems to be working like normal to be honest! I ran the ford self diagnostic test and it told me that there were no DTCs, now as I understand it the DTCs are the fault codes are they not? So I was just wondering if anyone knew why the engine management light would come on if there aren't any faults? My local garage want to charge me 60 quid to run a diagnostic, which I don't fancy doing if there isn't anything wrong with my car... I considered purchasing a diagnostic tool to reset the light but not sure if this would be wise? I have a ford fiesta mk6, 58 plate. Any suggestions/input would be much appreciated. Martin
  4. Engine Misfiring

Ive had a mondeo 1800 for about two0 years and round a year ago thhe engine management light started to come on at ignition and has since stayed on when mnotor running. The car then developed quite a serious misfiring and stuttering problem. My local garage have failed to determine the problem despite having replaced ht leads and plugs pn seperate occasions. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the causes anbd possible solutions?
