      Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

      it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

Hi, I am looking to upgrade a Focus mk1.5 2001-2004 Zetec/Ghia 1.6 estate to an ST170 in terms of trim i.e. Alloys, front and rear bumpers, headlights, leather interior, modern sound system and possibly some upgrades to the suspension and engine. Could anyone give me some advice on performing this upgrade? And does anyone know of any good breakers or spares yards in the Essex area to get parts? Thanks, Dan
  2. Brake warning light on

    Hi, live got a mk1.5 1.6 Ford Focus. i was driving home tonight and noticed the brake warning light was on. It's constant and not flickering. There's no abs light. Just this one. However it's very faint.. Is it a common problem that there's a loose connection somewhere? If I put the handbrake on it comes on brightly as you'd expect. ive checked the fluid once the engine was cold and there's plenty in there, ive also since taken it for a drive and stamped on the brakes and it stops fine. The pads look okay, but not 100 sure. I've read online there's a wear indicator in the pads that could active the light? thanks for any advice. Chris
  3. So, I have after 2 years decided to upgrade my Mk1.5 Focus to something a bit more fun, more stylish, more comfortable and more 'up to date'. I want to modify Elsie in a tasteful way, and in no way make it chavy or make it a boy racers car. Unfortunately, I didn't think to start the thread when I started upgrading/modifying her, so I will quickly go over what has been done so far... Firstly, I decided to fit some LED DRLs to the bottom grill on the front bumper, not only does it make the car look a bit more modern, I have found that people don't pull out or step out in front of me quite as much... Maybe its the placebo effect, but I think it is the lights :)... Not bad I thought! After looking through the forums, I found some information regarding footwell lighting built into the Mk1 Facelift models, so I decided to take a look. After having a route around under the dashboard, I managed to find a bulb holder and wiring taped up to the OBD2 wiring loom. I then removed the tape and fitted the plug to the dash. I then found the passenger side bulb holder and positioned it. After looking on ebay, I ordered some of these LED 501 bulbs (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151702370542?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=450974541999&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT). This evening they arrived, and all fitted I think they look mint! So far so good, got a few more bits coming over the next few days, so will update when I get everything fitted!
  4. Hi, I have a problem with my 1.6L Mk1.5 Focus, in which the engine will sometimes stall when the car returns to idle, other times it will briefly idle at around 500rpm and then return. This problem is worse when the engine is warm. Let me run you through the events in case they are related: - Two days ago on the way to work, one of the cylinders stopped firing, causing the car to drop idle speed and shake violently. - Yesterday, I bought a new air filter, new NGK TR5A-10 spark plugs, HT leads and Coil Pack which fixed that problem. At this point the car was running much better, but I noticed that the Breather vacuum piping behind the inlet manifold was split and had collapsed in on itself, so I ordered one of these. - Today, I received said Breather hose and fitted, no hissing or any suction outside of the pipe that I was able to hear/feel. However now the engine is idling wrong like I mentioned before. So I went to a scrap yard and bought a new Idle Air Control Valve (as most forums I had looked at deemed this the problem) this one on the inside had a minuscule amount of carbon built up and the valve worked easy and sprung back nicely. Still does not work! I am in the process now of cleaning the old one with some Air system and Carburettor Cleaner and seeing if that will make any difference and will fit tomorrow... Has anyone else had this problem, and if so did you manage to fix it, and if yes then how so... Seems like when one job is finished there is always another one to do! Cheers, Al
