Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. I'm looking at buying a 2014 or newer focus but the deciding factor might be the roof rack options. I notice the plastic trim on the focus roof, what are those trim pieces for? It looks like they can be removed to have some kind of permanently installed / factory installed roof rack rails. I do a lot of outdoor sports, canoeing, mountain biking, skiing and I've always got a rack on my car. I don't like those after market racks where the feet sit on the roof with the hooks that go behind the door seal to keep it on. My experience is that it always damages the paint. Does anybody know if it is possible to get factory installed rails on the regular hatchback version. I've seen them on the estate version but not on the hatchback. Oxter
  2. Hi, two months into ownership of a mk5 1.5 diesel Titanium X hatchback. Thought I'd get out the 'hang on' bike rack that I used on my Mondeo Mk4 ( an ageing Halfords one) but it doesn't fit- the straps that would previously go on the edge of the bootlid don't fit. Is anyone aware of a hang on style bike rack for three bikes that will do the job? I'm after a high level one that does not obscure the lights & numberplate. I also have a rear spoiler which might complicate things! Many thanks,
  3. Hey guys, I've got a 53 TDDi and after it sitting around for a week, all of a sudden I've started getting a clunking noise while turning the steering wheel stood still. Driving it seems to be OK the majority of the time, every now and then it happens. Found a video on youtube which looks to be the issue I'm having. They say it was the front springs, is there any way I can double check the springs before buying new ones? Replaced my steering rack a little while ago (roughly 2/3 thousand miles ago) so thinking it may possibly be that. Heres the link: Any help would be much appreciated.
  4. HI Guys, So recently we'e been using our bikes alot and due to the size of the car i can only fit 1 bike inside with two people in the front. I would like to get a bike rack so we can drive to places and take the bikes. Saw one in Halfrauds for £59.99. Just wondering if anyone has got one/knows of any decent racks that aren't going to fall off the car mid drive. Or just mark and dent the car. Any idea? thanks! Jon
  5. Fiesta Bike Racks

Hi. Ive just brought a 2010 fiesta. I'm taking up off road cycling and was wondering if any fiesta owners know the best bike racks for the car? Thank you :) Robbie
  6. I took the roof gutter trim off to fit roof bars. I have to give the car back in a couple of weeks (was a company car). What product (glue/sealant etc) should I use to reaffix the trim strips back down?
  7. I have posted many topics regarding a noise issue with my car, and might have eventually found it after many garage trips and self diagnosis. (MK6 Ford Fiesta Flame 1.4 16V) When stationary with the engine switched off, with the steering lock disengaged, with the key left in the ignition. I turn the steering wheel left to right and wiggle it to find an annoying knocking noise, and this before I get to full lock. Now if I am right is this an issue with the steering rack, and tie rod ends that are covered with the steering boots??? This is an idea of the sound I have found via YouTube:
