Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Attempting to find a replacement alloy wheel for a 2017 Ford Kuga Titanium 1.5 TDCI Hi all, I recently had a minor accident thanks to a patch of spilled diesel on the road and hit a high kerb with the front nearside alloy. The damage to the alloy is pretty bad and the tire is bulged, both of which need to go down the scrapyard. I'm having some real difficulty in finding a replacement alloy wheel - I have 17 inch 5-spoke doubles which are different to any that I can find online, even those on the official ford-accessories website. I've attached a photo of my alloys for reference. When compared to the ones on the Ford spares site, you can see that they are different (rim around the badge, shape of the traingular segments etc). I'm at a loose end now and am wondering if anyone knows where I can pick up a matching alloy please? I'm having to drive around on the spare space saver at the moment and really need a replacement. The dealership are being as useful as ***** on a fish too, so if anyone has any help or advice, that would be great. Thanks in advance. MarkNeen.
  2. I'm getting new wheels for my focus mk2, also dropping it 30mm on eibach pro kit springs. Have a few wheel options in mind including 18 inch 2016 rs rep wheels, 2016 18'' st reps and genuine ford kuga wheels. Has anyone any pictures of a focus mk2 with 19 inch kuga Wheels? I'll attach pic below. Thanks

  6. No one from my insurance company has ever seen my car. If I change my steel wheels to genuine ford alloys will I need to declare it or can I say they came with the car?
  7. Hey. Basically my Ford Fiesta 2013 came with 15 inch Steel wheels and I just bought 17 inch alloys to replace them with. However I don't know what size of tyres I will need to meet the same diameter or how changing them will affect my car. Yes I am an idiotic impulse buyer but could anyone help me out? I have an image of my current wheel size on my 15 inch wheels.
  8. Hello all. I bought 17 inch OEM ford alloys and I want to fit them onto my 2013 Ford Fiesta. I currently have 15 inch steel wheels with 195/50/R15 Tyres. I am aware that in order to keep the speedometer accurate I will have to match the same overall diameter of the wheel, although I can't figure out what size of tyre I will need to match the 15 inch wheels, I know it will have to be a lower profile but I can't work it out. Any help would be appreciated.
  9. Advice

Hi there, I have two queries, firstly when driving my 61 reg Ford Fiesta Zetec, when going under 10 mph and especially when turning, I hear a sorts of grinding noise, it doesn't affect the drive just doesn't sound right and I was wondering if anyone had any idea about this or experienced it before? Also, I have a space saver but now have acquired a spare alloy and I was just wondering whether it's possible in anyway to have a full spare in the boot? Whether anyone had done it? And whether if it was to go in, how big it would be? Im going to try it tomorrow but was just wondering if anyone had any experience. Thank you
  10. Hey guys, first day signed up for the site. I have a question regarding alloys for my car. I've been searching for a few days trying to find somthing I'd like. I have a mk7.5 zetec s red edition that I have owned for 2 weeks. I haven't got much of a clue in what alloys would fit and have decent clearance. I'm not planning on spending a lot, max of £350, I'm interested in how the bola b1 looks but it's to much atm as I plan to remap the car soon
  11. Best aftermarket website

New to this site so hi everyone. Been looking through the posts and can't find what I'm after so this is the reason for this. I'm looking for a website or brand what basically will cover most parts of the fiesta mk7 2010, I'm just looking at improving all parts including suspension(drop links, anti roll bars, ball joints etc) all components for the brakes. Basically everything except the whole engine and chassis lol, would do a few things to engine but not much as is only a 1.25 zetec. Any help or links would be very much appreciated
  12. Hey, I've had a Zetec s ecoboost for about 2 years now and fancy some new wheel. I wanted to keep the stock suspension setup but don't want arch gap or ***** fitment. Anyone have recommendeds of wheels or the size and offset etc I should look for? Tia
  13. New wheels - which do I buy?

I need some new wheels for my Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec TDCI. I have found some Fox Racing FX004 Black Alloy Wheels which I like the look of but aren't sure if they're worth the cost. I use my car for general driving and commuting to work, but I enjoy driving so would like some nice wheels. Does anyone have any brands to suggest, my budget is £500.
  14. Mot and alloy wheels

Hi all. My car is due for an MOT so changed one of the tyres. On the alloy I saw a small lip and wondered if this would fail the MOT? The guy at tyre place wasn't sure.
  15. Scuffed edge black alloy

Hey guys just after a bit of help! I have scuffed the edge of one of my 17" gloss black alloy wheels for my Fiesta Red Edition by accidentally colliding with what I thought was a smaller curb than expected. I have gone to my Trust Ford dealership for some advice/help but they said they don't know anywhere that would repair them since they're gloss black and have told me to ring around various other larger local Trust Ford dealerships but I'm having no luck... I'm yet to hear back from my current dealership after a week of being told to leave it when them! I have browsed online to see if I could find a brand new 17" gloss black alloy wheel but all I have found is ones with damage the same as mine or they aren't in gloss black. I'm actually trying to keep the car's value up as much as possible by looking after it, cleaning it out every so often/washing it because I'll be wanting to sell it soon and having one of the alloys damaged would probably knock it down a bit if I'm correct? Does anybody know where I could get a brand new alloy or if this is possible to be fixed and look brand new again(please ignore the dirt around the wheel, it just needs a wash)?
  16. Hi everyone, I've been happily driving my 2013 titanium fiesta around for about a year and am looking into progressively making her look a bit sportier. One of the quickest ways to achieve a better look is by upgrading the alloys, and the sensible yet tame 14 inch alloys that came as standard with this car are on my list of things to upgrade. I looked into getting OEM alloy wheels, but the prices are outrageous... it would cost me around £800 to get four wheels! And yet, some much more attractive aftermarket wheels are available for less than half the price. The question I want to know is, does buying aftermarket wheels dramatically affect resale? Would I find it very difficult to sell the car with non 'Ford' alloys? Theoretically I could just hang on to the old 14 inch ones until I wanted to sell, but it would be nice to just flog them. Is there a major reason why Ford wheels are so much more expensive? Have any of you guys/girls bought aftermarket alloy wheels and regretted it? Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

  19. Hey Guys. I need some advice and suggestions. Today I purchased a Fiesta Zetec. It has 15" rims which look standard as you might expect. I want to get 16's. What rims do you guys have on your Fiestas? I do like the look of the ones below. Also, I'm looking for a Zetec badge to stick to the back of the car. Where could I get this from? All help will be good! Thanks
  20. Hi everyone, I've booked in to get my alloys done next week, I have a fiesta s in deep impact blue. I know 100% I don't want them black but debating between what they are calling charcoal (very dark grey) and a lighter sort of space grey colour at the moment. What do you think will look best on my car? Emily x (p.s sorry if this is posted in the wrong place)

  23. Thank you for checking out this thread, it would be much appreciated if you could spare the time to read over this post, and if possible any replies that people have left and maybe leave some input of your own. There will be a poll for this, asking people to tick which alloy wheels they have had buckled, corresponding with their car model. I am completely aware of the mass of threads about this topic, however most seem to be just complaining about them rather than actually grouping together on the matter in hand. There are steps we can take! However, let's discuss the topic first. Basically it seems there is a large number of us here (seems mainly to be the Zetec S and Titanium owners) who're having hassle with our alloy wheels buckling and getting flat spots, now sometimes these are repairable, sometimes they're not serious enough and then other times the only action is to replace the wheel itself, now even with the first 2 options, should we really be going through this? Did you buy your Fiesta to be messing around every few months about the alloy wheels? My story is this; I felt a vibration through the steering wheel of my Fiesta and within a couple of days went to Kwikfit to have what I thought was my wheels rebalanced as I and my dad (a mechanic for 40+ years) thought I'd lost a wheel weight. To my horror, when the wheels had been inspected, one wheel was terribly buckled, and the other had a less serious but unrepairable buckle as well. I was advised not to drive hard and to avoid motorways, effectively meaning really I need to get new wheels or take the car off the road as it's unsafe. My problem is, I don't just have £400 odd in my pocket to splash out, and also I only have 1 spare wheel. The thing is this wasn't all Kwikfit said, the mechanic said he see's Fiesta's in all of the time, and when I said about Corsa's he says they're fine, it's just the Fiesta's. To back this up, a lot of us on here have posted multiple threads. So, I take the car in to Evans Halshaw (who in all of this I can give no fault too) to have their verdict, 2 new wheels and tyres. So I then go back home and give Ford a ring, well let's just say I have never had such an experience with a company, who takes £15,000 off someone, just to treat them like they're something off the bottom of their boot? They said there is no problem with the wheels and that I must have hit pot holes. Well, in that case why do I have two front wheels gone? To which the person on the phone said 'Exactly, why is it only the front two and not the back?' To which I replied, 'Well after all, the front wheels do have the full weight of a diesel engine over them...' and then there was a momentary silence from them, followed by being told I would have to find the money to pay for the wheels myself if I wanted the problem sorting, and when I said about not having heaps of cash lying round, that I would either have to borrow the money from friends and family, or take the car off the road. I genuinely couldn't believe what I was being told, I was being told that because they're putting wheels on cars that are unfit for purpose that I would have to take a 9 month old vehicle off the road? So, here I am now. I'm posting so hopefully we can get together and do something about this, I'm thinking of contacting trading standards and hopefully Watchdog if we get enough support here. I aim to keep this thread alive so that anyone can chip in and hopefully get some help with the issue, so please post your experiences and thoughts on this, and let's try and get somewhere! I have also posted on Ford UK's Facebook, which I urge anyone to do over this; https://www.facebook.com/forduk Thank you for your time. Posts to read; antman99 - Post 2
  24. The Wonder Wheels Review

Review time, I was looking for a product that would clean my alloys and remove the black tar "glued" to my alloy wheels. I'd seen many products available one of these was Wonder Wheels Hot Wheels (This was a an impulse buy at the time but lets give it ago). The front end of the car had more brake dust and general grim so this is where I focused my review. This before close up showing black road tar behind the alloy spokes along with the general dirt after a quick rinse off from a hose pipe. As instructed on the back of the bottle I sprayed the Wonder Wheels onto the alloys attempting to avoid the disk brakes. While doing this it was noted that unless you pull the bottle trigger fast the Wonder Wheels would come out in a straight concentrated squirt instead of a spray. After managing to cover the wheel with what appeared to be a lot of Wonder Wheels I left them for the recommended 5 minutes. Although it wasn't required I used an alloy cleaning brush to scrub the wheels to hopefully agitate the stubborn tar. 5 minutes later the Wonder Wheels has turned Red as described and it has also begun to dry at the top of the alloys, I wasnt sure if this has reduced its effectiveness. After washing off the Wonder Wheels lets see the amazing results! Well maybe not... Yes the Wonder Wheels cleaned the wheels on a general cleaning level however it failed to make an impact on the road tar. So for this I would recommend the Wonder Wheels to be used as a general alloy wheel cleaner as long as you're not wanting to shift anything more than braking dust. N.B Avoid contact with braking discs at all cost! Score 4/10
  25. Shopping List!

Hey guys, I am looking at making some changed for the summer as the weather has been ok so far this year in Scotland so hoping for some good driving. I have a 15 plate ford fiesta Zetec s in deep blue (3 door). I have tinted the back windows to the factory tint 18% i think, i have also changed the foot well bulbs to blue ones -they look green tho - I have also put a s badge on the front and back. Below is what i am looking at buying and would appreciate advise on where to buy, what brands and any information would be handy. Wind Deflectors (Tinted 18% or darker) Fiesta ST alloys (2013-2016) what colours do they come in? Alloy protectors Full set of floor mats (inc boot) i am looking for ones that are good for summer weather and are easy to clean. A tyre pump to keep in the boot (i hear that you can get electric ones that are good) Blue foot well bulbs ( not the green ones that i have atm) A enginer cover (i ahve the 1.0 eco boost 125) Black and blue ford badge for front back and interior. Any other mods that are unlikely to increase my insurance premiums would be interesting and pics of your parts/mods would be great too. Cheers,
