Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Telephon

I have a Freedom 1.4 3dr 2007 Can anyone advise me how do I activate use the "phone" icon?
  2. Before this starts, I take no responsibility for this going wrong for you or if it in anyway breaks your car. This is done at your risk and your risk only. It is also your responsibility to check your car's compatibility. For this upgrade, I had a Fiesta, early 2013, with the Blue LED text screen but NO track info on Bluetooth. I have taken photos and illustrated as much as possible, any questions drop below. When playing music, this is what it should look like BEFORE the upgrade This is for UK Cars I replaced an AM5T module with a D1BT module to make this work. (Pictured) First thing I did, was to double lock the car with me inside it and make sure that the radio and SYNC system were off (completely black screen). Some people disconnect the battery however I decided not to simply for the convenience of it. I kept the doors shut to prevent anything turning on, and I lay on my back with my feet on the passenger seats in the rear, and bent underneath the footwell. (Bring a flashlight) As the photo shows, you want to remove the two little black screw things, I recommend using a small key or perhaps a knife. Once you have pulled it out about half an inch, you can do the rest with finger work, however the first little bit requires a bit of effort. You want to do this for both sides, so you have 4 little bits in total (pictured) Once you have these out, the panel should fall away. You'll then be able to see the black box module, this is what you are replacing. Remove the two cables. The larger and wider cable, there is a small notch which you need to push in, this will then allow it to slide from right to left, allowing you to pull it out and remove it. Do not pull it until the grey/white band is out of the way As pictured, push that notch down, then slide the band/plastic to the left hand side. Don't force it, it should feel easy. Doing this will raise the cable/eject it slightly, allowing you to remove it with ease. For the other cable, there is a small notch to push in, once pushed in, wiggle it out and it should come just fine. Now you have the cables free, flip the little tray/shelf over and remove the two larger black screw items, they're fairly easy to get out so just use finger nails and you'll be fine. This then releases the black box, so don't drop it as they're fragile inside! Remove those two black large circles to release the box. Once released, I recommend TESTING your new box simply by plugging it in (read the end of this post for my experience, you won't regret it) and seeing if it works. Once you've checked all is good, or you're just going all out, then you want to reattach everything. Follow this guide in reverse, however one little bit of advice is, the wider you make the gap between the two little grommets (pictured below) the easier it is to slot it in before pushing upwards and sealing it. You'll know what I mean when you do it yourself. With everything back together, and all in place, my car display now looked like this. This, to me, is a much needed improvement! You will need to re-add your phone to the bluetooth settings and all that stuff. And there we have it, SYNC is fully upgraded. Read if you have issues / These were my issues: So I plugged the new module in and turned on the ignition, and it wouldn't recognise the module at all, it refused to go onto AUX mode and just wasn't working. I unplugged it, plugged in the old one to test I hadn't broken a cable. This worked fine so I plugged the new one back in, first time I had no joy. Turned engine off, waited for it to turn off and then turned it back on and it showed minor signs of life with blank screen on AUX instead of refusing to go onto it at all. I can't guarantee this will work for everyone HOWEVER, what worked for me was going onto MENU --> And clicking SYNC Settings. This brought up a 'SYNC initialising' and after hitting AUX a number of times to cycle through USB, Line in etc, it finally woke up and worked. I simply added my Phone and the Bluetooth was fine. Hope that your install goes to plan and if not, drop a question and I'll do my best to help.
  3. Hi there, A few months ago I bought a Ford Fiesta 1L Ecoboost (125bhp), Titanium, 63 reg. I have been having no trouble with connecting my phone and others via bluetooth to Sync media, however when playing music via bluetooth my car does not display track names/artists, but it does when playing music via the USB wired connection. A friend of mine has a lower spec fiesta (zetec), but a newer model (14 reg) and can get their bluetooth mode to display track names... I have been warned that these systems wok better with android phones rather than iPhones (which is what I have) and it is an android phone that my friend uses. Has anyone found similar issues? Or knows whether a 63 reg car is simply not new enough to support the track name information when in bluetooth mode, despite being high spec? Both my Sync and iPhone software are on the most recent updates... Any ideas? Thanks! drward1
  4. Problems with 'SYNC media'

Hi all, I'm currently having issues using the SYNC media function in my fiesta ecoboost. My android phone connects to SYNC via Bluetooth as usual but when I go to listen to music the message 'play music from device' appears. It does not say connect a bt device so I'm unable to play any music through my phone. This did happen to me a few months back where I ended up using the AUX instead and then it magically started working again. If anyone know what this is please advise as it's getting a bit annoying now. Kind regards, TheScoobyCollector.
  5. I've always driven Ford cars and been very happy with them. However I have just bought a 2007 Fusion and found out that it has bluetooth! I do not want bluetooth! I would not go anywhere near a mobile phone or anything which floods my body with microwaves. The manual doesn't say how to turn off bluetooth!? Please can someone tell me how to turn it off? I'm going to have to sell the car if I can't, which is such a shame. I signed up here just to ask this question. How can this not be in the manual?
  6. Having a nightmare! I have a Fiesta MK7, 2009 Zetec, I have the bluetooth module and the USB port but the bluetooth and aux cable WILL NOT work. We've looked at so many questions on here but nothing is touching it! We have tried: replacing the fuses under the bonnet and in the passenger footwell (fuse 21) turning the battery on and off installing an update via USB (just said there were no files then would not progress to the next stage) replacing the bluetooth unit (not cheap and nothing happened!) To be a bit more specific - when i press the 'phone button' it says 'Mute' and i cannot change this no matter what I press. When I press 'aux' it says 'Line in' and again i cant change this no matter what i press. When I go through menu to select blue tooth is doesn't say anything apart from bottom right 'BT off' again - you guessed it - no matter what I press it doesn't change. No idea what to do with it now and I'm sure most of you know driving down the motorway with the radio cutting in and out is so frustrating i really need this working! Please HELP!
  7. Hi, I have a 2009 MK7 Fiesta Titanium fitted with the stereo shown in the attached image, but it does not have any Bluetooth function and wondered if anyone could advise if there are any options for adding an in-dash Bluetooth handsfree stereo rather than fitting something like a dash-mounted Parrot system? I have found a second hand FORD RADIO CD PLAYER STEREO (AM5T-18C815-PE) WITH BLUETOOTH on eBay. Is this an easy plug an play option? Are there any double din aftermarket in-dash Bluetooth units that I can install? Thanks
  8. Does a car of this year and model show mobile phone signal strength on the left hand screen? Cant seem to find it and my Wife's horrible orange display does! Driving me mad!
  9. Bluetooth Issue

Hi, I have come across an issue on my 2010 Fiesta Zetec S, my Bluetooth wont connect to my phone, it has been fine for 4 years but now suddenly it won’t connect, every time I try connecting it comes up “phone activation failed”. It also won’t debond my phone on screen, every time I try it comes up with the option to debond but the phone still appears on the screen after selecting yes. Anybody any ideas how to fix this issue Thanks in Advance
  10. As title, can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether a sync-era display and sony branded radio can be fitted to a non-sync (BT/VC system) car, and bluetooth still work - less bothered about nav voice control, but voice control in general I could also do with keeping functional. Thanks Mark
  11. Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum, going to be honest I never signed up because I went a bit mad modifying my last car and I thought not being on a forum would stop me from getting ideas about playing with this car! I have a 2012 Ford Focus Titanium, owned it for about 9 months now. Been a great car, done everything I've asked of it (and some things I've not asked like wheel bearings going at 32k!) So I recently tried to unpair a phone from the bluetooth and since then all of the above have stopped working. Seems like my car is having a hissy fit because I was fed up of listening to the other halves music whenever she got in the car! So I took it to my Ford dealership for some advice and they wanted to charge ridiculous amounts of money just to book it in and try and diagnose it. Could be talking £300+ which I was a bit annoyed about paying on the off chance they can fix it. I was wondering if anyone on here has any advice for me to try and get it working for myself. So far I have disconnected the battery for half an hour which in theory should have reset everything but still no luck. I believe the 2012 Focus with the sony headunit has a separate bluetooth module underneath the glovebox, but disconnecting that wouldn't do anything different to disconnecting the battery to rest everything in theory. Any advice would be great. I have 6 weeks off work and am determined to not be conned by Ford for something unnecessary if possible. Thanks Jake
  12. Hello forum members :) I'm a new driver and just recently bought a new Ford KA Zetec 2015 model. Really loving the car, perfect for city driving. My only problem is the Ford Audio system is really frustrating to use - not sure if other people have found this? There are so many different versions and finding information and support has been really tricky. I looked at the audio system before buying the car and made sure it had Bluetooth so I could stream audio directly from my android phone. For anyone with a bluetooth speaker this is normally a pretty simple thing to do. Alas, all I can do is precariously play mp3 files that are stored on the phone as a usb device or cd by plugging in over the usb. On the specifications for the car it clearly states "using a Bluetooth connection, you can also stream music wirelessly from a smartphone or mp3 player to your car radio". But how? There are no instructions on how to do this in the manual. I am close to getting a radio transmitter! Which is something you might expect to have to do in an old car, not a new model with Bluetooth. Any suggestions would be really useful to myself and maybe others as well. I have tried: 1/ I have connected to the cars FORD AUDIO bluetooth using the system menu, which is navigated by talking to Miss Ford. 2/ I can make calls over the Bluetooth easy once connected so it is working. 3/ When connected over the blutooth I have tried pressing the CD button (which changes the source) but it says NO SRC, unless I'm connected over usb at which point it says MEDIA. 4/ When connected over MEDIA I have tried playing Spotify but it simply does not work, Media only let's me play existing MP3's. 5/ I have tried all the system menus for the Media Player but none of them are settings for connecting directly in order to stream music. Thanks :D :D
  13. 2012 Mk3 Focus Problems

Hi Everyone, Got a couple of issues with the 2012 Ford Focus Titanium I have owned for 9 months now. Stereo has been working a dream, one of the reasons I opted for the higher spec model was so I could have the reliability of the Sony headunit. A couple of weeks ago I was removing a bluetooth device from the headunit and it went into meltdown. Now the bluetooth. USB, Aux and Voice Control have all stopped working. I disconnected the battery for half an hour in an attempt to reset it but still no luck. Anyone got any other suggestions? Ford say it could cost me hundreds for them to find the issue and resolve it which I don't really want to spend if I can help it. Second thing is I am looking at getting my windows tinted. Rear windows look a bit strange letting so much light in I think. While it is in, I was considering getting the chrome strips under the windows wrapped in black as well because they stand out too much for my liking. Can anyone tell me if there is a way of taking them off? If I can tell the company how to take them off rather than them have to try and figure it out themselves, the price will come down a fair bit. Yes, I'm from Lincolnshire so I'm tight - but I also have a few weeks off work so thought it was worth popping the queries up here and seeing what responses I got. Thanks in advance for any help! Jake
  14. Ford sync/Bluetooth problems

I got in my car this morning and my car had unpaired all of the devices already on it and now whenever I try to pair them back it gives a code to enter but on the iPhone 7 it also gives a code to pair and they don't match. This then means that I can't pair the two together? How come the codes are different? And can I manually pair them in any way? Thanks in advance
  15. I really wanna install the Audio/Bluetooth update to my 2009 Fiesta, but my car doesn't have USB.. Is there any other way to update it? Can the dealer do it or can I maybe use a CD instead? Thanks!
  16. Hello all, I've got this weird problem with my Mk4 2013 Mondeo's bluetooth/handsfree. It was working fine until recently when the Converse+ screen shows the "Phone Audio Muted" message and I cannot transfer the sound (music or calls) from Phone to Car. I tried unplugging the F43 fuse which is for audio system for 30 minutes or so but no luck. I've discovered that though my car has a SONY DAB, there is no fuse in the Read Fuse box as the Manual says - possibly it has a different name. As a result of this issue I'm unable to use the phone in the car and I really don't want to spend £700 to £800 to replace the audio unit due to a possible software flaw. Any suggestions anyone please? Oh by the way, I tried pressing and holding power button down for 15 seconds - it just resets the volume etc I think. Cheers!
  17. Hi everyone, Completely new here as just bought a 14 plate Fiesta a few weeks ago. The car is a pretty basic model, to the point where it doesn't have Bluetooth connectivity, or, as far as I can tell, any real version of Ford SYNC. I'm therefore trying to listen to music on my iPhone through USB, however something between iOS, Spotify and Ford means the tracks keep skipping after one or two seconds of playing. I've spoken to both Ford and Spotify and neither have been helpful. To get around this, I've bought an external Bluetooth adapter, but it means I have no control over my music from the dash/steering wheel controls. Im therefore wondering if it would be easier (or at all possible) to upgrade my Fiesta radio with a newer radio unit, hopefully one with inbuilt Bluetooth and phone sync capabilities. Does anyone know if it's possible to do this? Presumably my current setup wouldn't allow for incoming calls and hands free (assuming no mic etc) even if I could get Bluetooth enabled? Any guidance would be really appreciated! Cheers.
  18. Hi, I have an Android phone that has been previously successfully connected to Sync. So no, this is not a brand new phone. Yes, Sync has had a connection to this phone before. It suddenly stopped connecting. As attached is the situation of pictures where I'm stuck. Basically everything is working but Sync informs me of a code that I can't change. On either end. I find Sync, but the codes doesn't match. Android (Huawei Honor 8) gives two options: Connect or cancel. No option to change the code. I don't find that option from Sync either. Things tried so far 1) Turned off Android Bluetooth 2) Turned off Sync Bluetooth 3) Restarted Android 4) Restarted Sync 5) Restarted car 6) Deleted Android from Sync 7) Deleted Sync from Android 8) Reseted defaults to Sync 9) Done Master Reset to Sync The next I'm going to do is a factory reset to Android, but do you have any other suggestions before I do that because it sounds like an overkill to me. edit. Well obviously could try with another phone too. Here's the result:
  19. I Purchased my first CAT D car yesterday and am very happy with it. Just 48,000 on clock and engine seems to be great. I have a couple of *hopefully minor* things I would like to clear up. (trying to play music through bluetooth) 1. Bluetooth Audio - From what I have read, it seems to be a complicated subject and strange. My car does not have USB (from what I can see) therefore I can not perform a software updatee unless their is another way around this? But what I am confused about is the fact the menu system seems to have the Bluetooth configuration built in ? I have an option from MENU > AUDIO > BLUETOOTH . At this point I get No Audio Device and my only option is to turn off my BT. My phone is already connected through Bluetooth and works great on calls . but just not on my audio. Is their something I am missing? I have also ready up a possible 2nd USB maybe in globe compartment, Whether or not if it just not possible. Hopefully someone can help me out. I have also attached some photo's of the Menu. 2. If I press my Clutch when my engine is running their seems to be 2 different noises. If the clutch is out it seems to be ( a little louder) when I dip the clitch in the noise seems to go away. I'm sure I have had this on other car's too, but doesn't anyone know if this is an issue with the car? It drive's flawlessly in all 5 gears. Regards Craig
  20. Hi all, I'm new to fiesta stuff so please go easy on me :) I just got a 58 plate Fiesta mk7 Zetec S tdci. I have all the features that indicate i should have working bluetooth usb and aux. I have the usb and aux ports under the handbrake. The voice activation on indicator stick etc etc. However my USB, AUX and Bluetooth are not working. I can't turn bluetooth on in the menu, and whenever i plug aux or usb in, they just dont work. I have checked the module is there, i have checked the fuses, and i have checked that the module is getting power. What else could it be? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys
  21. So, my first post on the forums (please go easy on me)! 😂 Anyway, here goes… I have a Ford Fiesta Mk7 (58 Reg - 2009) which came with the numerical dial-pad stereo and Bluetooth only from factory, and wanted to upgrade to have both USB and Bluetooth streaming enabled. After reading some threads here and a bit of research, I decided to take the plunge and purchased a Novero 8M5T-19C112-AT module off of eBay, replacing the Novero 6M2T-19G488-AG module, along with the appropriate fascia for the AUX and USB ports and routing the USB cable from the module to it. I then got on to a local garage who happily programmed via Ford IDS, the parameters (that others have mentioned several times): 'USB Accessory Unit' > 'With USB Unit and iPod function' and 'Bluetooth Handsfree' > 'BT/VC Phone Interface + USB connect'. I also remember some kind of BVC setting that was either 'Low' or 'High' (or something involving those words). Attempted update via USB to update module/stereo which showed as being successful on the stereo display. Unfortunately, here are the symptoms: USB power does work. When plugging a USB stick in, it can see the MP3 files but will not play back (reverting back to AUX). Pressing the AUX button multiple times does nothing. iPod and USB options do now appear, but only accessible when respective device is connected; However, no Bluetooth option visible. 'External Device' voice commands result in 'Not Possible' response. Connecting devices via Bluetooth and attempting to stream audio does not play sound through the car stereo, although devices appear to play like 'normal'. Pulling stereo and module fuses to force power reset does not work. Disconnecting USB and module loom cable to force reset does not work. Don't know if anyone remembers coming across this issue, but I've tried to see if anyone else had similar issues on the web forums, but no real luck, apart from one quite similar, if not the same situation, that involved making sure both relevant parameters were programmed via Ford IDS. Therefore: Could the incorrect BVC parameter of either 'Low (non-branded)' or 'High (non-branded)' affect the functions? Possibility of malfunctioning module? Is it normal for iPod and USB options not to do anything unless connected? Might just be the display, but it does kind of look like the iPod and USB options are hashed out? Does the actual stereo/relevant equipment need updating via Ford IDS or is updating via standard USB connection adequate enough? Apologies for such a detailed post, but hope it's good enough for anyone to fully understand the situation. Would be good to get it working! Let me know what you guys think. Much appreciated! P.S. Oh, and also anyone with Ford IDS who can help in the Leeds/West Yorkshire region?
  22. Hi all, I've seen this mentioned on the forum here and there, however nothing overly conclusive. I'm looking to upgrade the module in my MK7.5 Zetec essentially to get track info over Bluetooth. Any suggestions on which module to get/how to identify it and anyone in the know if it is 'plug and play' or if it needs any interfacing over OBD? I'm planning on making a guide to show the process for other people if i can do it myself. Thanks in advance :)
  23. Hi Everyone, I'm having issues connecting my phone for call audio. Never used to have this issue (had the car for 6 months been working fine for approx 4) (63 plate Fiesta ZS 1.6TDCi. Sure it's something to do with my phone and not the car, just wondering if anyone else has had issues connecting to SYNC for call audio? Plays music no bother and connects for media audio. Connects for call audio for approx 10 seconds then cuts out and changes to media audio only. Anyone else had the same issue? Tried everything I can to fix but with no joy! Much appreciated, Marcus
  24. Hi all. My focus is driving me mad. The Bluetooth is making that constant buzz on aux in mode even if the phone not in the car, I've read about ground loop insulators but not a clue how to fit one! Electronics aren't my forte, gimme a the greasy things, those I can do haha. Anyone actually managed to fix this? Cheers in advance :)
  25. ICE Upgrade

Hi I purchased a 2009 Ford Focus CC-3 last week and there is one area I'd like to develop; the in car entertainment system. The car has the 6-CD changer Sony head unit, but no Bluetooth, DAB Radio (which I miss) or Sat Nav. I'd like to replace the stereo with a system that has Bluetooth, DAB radio and Apple CarPlay (providing the Sat Nav and more). I'm also keen to add a areverse parking camera (my wife is used to this on her Qasqai). I've seen plenty of cheap Chinese units available on eBay, which can add Sat Nav and Bluetooth, but these look cheap and don't enable DAB radio or Apple CarPlay. I've been into Halfords and looked at a Pioneer unit which has CarPlay / Bluetooth, but not DAB (although they said the Pioneer representative said this was coming soon and would be available as a retro fit to the existing units, maybe via a software update but most probably by adding another piece of hardware. I wondered whether anyone had any experience in this area or had any recommendations for me. Warm regards, Nigel (Past_Tabler)
