      it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hello, I'm new so please forgive me if this has already been covered a million times before. So, I just purchased a 2009 Ford Fiesta Zetec S, test drove it, no knocking, clangs or bangs. Two days later I'm getting a dainty metallic knocking when I'm decelerating. For example I'm in 3rd gear, I'm doing 25mph and I take my foot off the accelerator and engine braking... There is a rhythmitic knocking, the speed of the knocking is equivalent to the speed of the car. It doesn't happen when I'm on the accelerator only when I'm off it. I know it could a million different things and you'd need to hear it to diagnose it, but hopefully there's somebody with or had the same problem. Also whilst I'm here let me ask another Q. When I'm braking the pedal feels lumpy and when I'm slowing to almost a stop the car jerks (through the brakes), I'm guessing this could be a warped disc?
  2. Vibration When Braking

    Ford Focus 1.6 Diesel Style Around June last Year, I started getting a vibration on the steering wheel while braking so straight away I assumed that my disks were warped. I had them replaced by my local garage but within 2 months, I started to get the same problem again. I took the car back to the garage and they replaced the disks under warranty and assumed that they were bad disks. This time the disks lasted about 4 months and then the vibration returned. This time I listened for any noise and I could hear a rubbing, almost like a chugging noise on the left hand side of the car which then turns into a wobbling knocking noise when the car slows down further. I then took the car back to the garage which they then replaced the left side calliper (and the disks/pads again) but I still have the same issue. I am going to take it back there again but I want to find out if anyone else might have had the same issue or might know something else that might be causing it so I can mention it to the people at the garage. Just to add to this. I’m pretty good when it comes to braking, there is no vibration on the steering wheel when driving and there seems to be no play on the left wheel, which I have checked and the guys at an MOT centre have also reported no problems.
  3. Fiesta St500 Brake Disks

    OK so completely and utterly confused. The car is due new disks and pads, the rear have been done but the front well, this is where the confusion starts. Standard fitment for the car is diameter wise 278mm but the ones I have are 333mm (theyre quite corroded so might be more or less). The suspension is standard, so's the hubs and the pads but yet they dont fit!!! Can anyone advise? Thanks in advance
  4. Brake Pads

    Had the car serviced a few months ago. Now the brakes squeak with the smallest amount of pressure. Ive had the pads checked and they are still at a pretty good level. Had my mechanic look over the system and he said nothing is obviously wrong with the car. Can anyone suggest anything note worthy: Better brand of Pads Share their own experience and resolution with me Thanks in advance :)
  5. Hi all, I'm afraid that I'm looking for your knowledge on a problem with my Cmax. Car is 1.8 tdci, 57 plate 51K on clock. On acceleration, particularly when heavily loaded and in higher gears, there is significant vibration thr' the steering wheel and seats. Also vibrates to a lesse extent when travelling 50-70(ish). Clutch seems fine and no slipping etc. Wheels have been tracked and balanced (3 times for balancing!), no noise from driveshaft when turning and no (unusual) noise when starting or turning off (hopefully not dmf). It also vibrates badly when braking quite hard from high speeds. Vibrations are worse when braking if wheels aren't straight (particularly steering to the left) and also if foot is on the clutch. I'm at my wits end with the problem, local dealer very good and helpful but no suggestions! They've checked for play on shafts, brake pads/discs and also checked tyres for deformity, balance etc. I sold my last cmax when it developed a similar problem but I don't want to sell again, surely I can't have had the only 2 with this problem!!!!! I'm not a 'hard' driver (get 55+ mpg on rural roads)! Thanks for any suggestions, if you need any clarification please let me know. Thanks again Will
  6. Focus Braking Problem

    Hi, I have a 59 reg 1.6 focus dielsel, and have a problem when braking. I can hear a grinding noise if braking harsh-ish, doesnt do it when braking normally and the noise is accompanied by a nasty vibration through the brake pedal. The problem has been happening on and off for a couple of weeks. The brakes were checked by a main ford dealer about 2 months ago. The problem occurs either when braking going over a speed bump, on ice, or braking when going over an uneven road surface. This is making me think it has something to do with the abs, but as a complete novice this is only a guess. The brakes are great at all other times. By coincidence the car is going into the garage for its MOT on Saturday, and I've asked them to take a look, but I'd like to have some idea beforehand. Thanks for any help you can give me
