      it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Before I start a big thinks to TomRoscoe. It was his idea for this brilliant low cost mod and here’s his reverse camera installation: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/46371-fiesta-reversing-camera-and-screen/ There is overlap between Tom’s approach and mine so all credit to Tom where that’s the case. The theory is that a camera mounted in to the rear of the car takes its power from the reverse light bulb so when you engage reverse the camera powers up and sends a signal to the monitor to power up also. Brilliant and more fun the normal parking sensors. Truth be told I hate the look of reverse sensors running the width of the bumper and can’t justify the cost of them just now. So I found TomRosco’s installation, asked a few questions and had a bash. What I’ve ended up with though is a full reverse camera system for £25 and maybe 3hrs graft. With this in mind I thought I’d put something back and build on the information Tom provided that got me up and running, and I have documented my adventures in case anyone else wants a go at installing their own reverse camera. === Hopefully you will see a PDF document attached to this post with all the details of my installation including lots of photo's and step by step instructions. Hi, My 2008 ('58 plate, MK2) Focus failed its MOT yesterday based on the bracket that holds the headlight bulb in place being broken, so that bulb isn't centred and rests on top of the lamp itself (picture below). KwikFit have said that the entire Headlight would need to be replaced costed approx. £160. Now, I can get the part itself from EuroCar Parts for £60 but Kwikfit won't fit it, so my question is; Would any one recommend replacing the headlight assembly themselves? It seems quite straight forward to remove the headlight from the fitting, it is just one screw and a couple of clips. The part I'm unsure on is removing it from the electrics. From what I can tell, you would just need to disconnect the wire, however, do you need to disconnect the battery first? What are the problems with this, and could I just do more damage? Any help would be very much appreciated Cheers

    Hi guys, the headlight lenses on my MK6 Fiesta are looking a bit hazy, it's just around the sidelight area part of the units. Anyone got any tips to try restore them to almost new condition? thanks
  4. Living Room Project

    Since the focus build is complete; ive moved on to improving the house, I've been working at the living room since early Feburary, I'm not in any hurry to complete it; I don't see any point in paying out any unnecessary interest on a Loan so progress will be gradual. I hadn't planned on documenting this atall, but a few members have expressed interest in what im doing and requested it; so I thought "sure why not"😅 I've learned about a few new products so far in the process which may also be of benefit to others to know such item is available. There's been alot of progress since feburary beginning to take shape nicely now; although things are going on pause at various stages.

Hi all, I've had a look around and pretty sure I could give changing my exhaust system (from back box to the CAT/manifold) just wondering if there are actually any videos of someone doing it themselves? As I can't find anywhere and I've read getting the bolts that attach to the mani/cat are a bit fiddly to get out and it's a one piece system. If not I might have a look at doing a video myself as I feel like there aren't enough for mk6 DIY guides. Thanks, Rhys ✌️

I've had a look on the forums and couldn't find what I needed, I have a Fiesta MK6 1.4 petrol and intend to replace the suspension leg and wheel hub assembly on the front driver's side after a curb collision driving over black ice. A general guide on what to do would be very helpful but knowing what tools and size of bolts/nuts would be great before I start! Could I use the brakes I have on now instead of using the ones that came on the new parts or would that be too complicated as I don't really want to deal with brake fluid etc. (as I bought a whole front right corner that came with the brake discs and calipers on the hub) I have experience of removing standard suspension and installing coilovers but on a Corsa B and have recently bought the Fiesta so am rather clueless haha Any help is appreciated guys Thanks Jordan
  7. Hi There I recently purchased a Sony DAB unit on eBay with the intention of upgrading my existing standard stereo. The Sony came off a 2012 fiesta as well so I figured it would be a straight swap (excluding the DAB aerial of course), oh how wrong was I! turns out the Sony unit has an extra 26 pin connector at the back as well as the additional aerial connector (see pic). It also doesn't have the usb plug the standard stereo has (though I'm not really fussed about that as I'm not gong to be using it). So what I want to know is, what is this extra 26pin socket for? can I still use the newer stereo without it? is there some kind of funky franken-connector I need to make in order to get it to work? Or should I sack it off, sell the unit on eBay and find another solution? Some help on this would be greatly appreciated. I've seen similar threads on this before but the other stereo involved was different from my standard one and so the solution doesn't seem to be the same
  8. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could give me any indication of how difficult it would be to change my diesel 1.6 zetec-s 61 plate mk3 focus' accessory belt myself. Is it doable with a basic set of tools or would I need any specialised equipment? Would I need to get access to the underneath of the car? I can clearly see it and it looks like I should be able to get access to it after unmounting and moving the coolant tank, loosening the tensioner by hand and replacing, however I'd like to avoid any unexpected gotchas before I even attempt it.   9. Hi guys, I have just started the perfection process of my Mondeo that I picked up last weekend. How do I find a dealer or seller that will match my paint? I know that the paint reference number is on the driver side door frame, but can't seem to find any retailers. Guessing I only really need a touch up paint with gloss / laquer over the top. Upgrades on the go so far. - Osram Night Breakers Unlimited - New License plates (the current one is peeling) - Ford tyre dust cap covers Looking to tint rear 3 windows , but not sure whether or not to have a go myself or get a pro to do it. I did previously do my Grande Punto.
  10. I work for a composites company so I made some carbon fibre ford badges. The one I'm showing here was a prototype and not of good quality because tooling carbon material was used which is not for final parts. I was sanding it before polishing but I went through the weave, oops :/ . It has also not been lacquered either. Gained at least 10 k/w with these mad weight savings.
  11. Hello all. I've just purchased an 2008 Ford Fusion 1.6 TDCI. I wouldn't mind having a go at re-calibrating the ECU to get better driveability fuel economy etc. As it happens I am an engineer and for the past 2 1/2 years I have been recalibrating the ECU of a 1.6 TCDI (DV6) engine for emissions with an adaptered manufacturer ECU. (Unfortunately I have no idea how to do a normal production ECU) Maybe I will just do an EGR blank instead! -Though I'm not sure wheather to have a hole in the plate or not on my model? Unless of course I can find an easy way just to remap it? Or borrow an ECU from work? Thoughts? Thanks
  12. Air Filter Fitting Guides

    Hello all, This is my first post. I've spent a lot of time researching this forum site trying to decide wether or not I should buy a K&N Panel or cone filter or a complete induction kit. I still can't decide... I own a MK5 fiesta zetec(-s?), 1999. First car and i've owned it for a little over 4 months now. I'm wondering if anyone has a guide to fitting an air induction kit please? Should I choose to purchase one, I'd like to know how to fit it in. I think I'm asking because there was discussions about finding your own cold air feed with an induction? Or cone I'm not sure... I understand the air filters don't add much power and to be honest, I'm not after much. It's also for the experience of getting my hands dirty in the engine bay and knowing how things work! Thanks for your help guys. P.s. I know there are numerous posts and topics about air filters but none of them give me the answer I'm looking for!

  14. hi there, i just done a custom boot storage myself. and i thought id share it with you. been a long follower of this forum, but this will be my first post. i hope you guys will enjoy it. i always carry my bags with me in the car, and ive realized that when i do some shopping or carry extra stuff, i always need to keep them on top of my bags, which i didnt really like. i had some lino and carpet left over from a house job that i did. so i spent £13 on an mdf board. Ive put a lino down first then build the storage and covered it with carpet. Here some pictures, puting down the lino first put the first mdf in then added the side and the top covered the side with carpet covered the top with carpet and placed it and the final picture

Just repaired my Durashift gearbox actuator using the procedure in the superb posting by Lasse1955: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/18532-fix-durashift-gearbox-problem-easy/ Starting a new post mainly because I somehow missed Lasse’s post two years ago when I forked out the thick end of a grand to have Ford dealer diagnose and replace Durashit (OOPs, genuine typo, but maybe it ought to stay uncorrected!). His post is the place to go but hopefully this will help point the way there. I just have a few minor points to make First, from all I’ve now read, the gearbox actuator problem diagnosed and sorted by Lasse ought to be the prime suspect if you have a Durashift failure that you can’t otherwise specify. Mine failed(nothing on gear selection display, warning light, no engine start) after just two years and 10K miles from installing a new unit. I only took off the actuator unit to eliminate from enquiries, as they say. It was stuck solid. Needed levering forcibly with a big screwdriver to release the rack. Getting the unit off the car involves just four Torx bolts. The top one is a fiend to get at, or even see without a mirror, but undo it first, not last, otherwise it’s even more tricky with the weight of the unit hanging on it. Otherwise, easy to reach the other bolts if you raise the car just a bit to get under with usual precautions. I’d really recommend forking out a tenner for a 16mm reameron Ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hand-Reamer-16mm-HSS-Milling-/121206449964?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160 It might not be a top end tool but easily good enough to use on plastic. I went in from the bottom end with the reamer (the bottom end when unit on the car) on the basis that it might give better alignment/guidance of the tool. When re-assembling, you need to reset the rack with cogs in the right position. As it now moves freely in the sleeve/bush, it’s an idea to use adhesive tape or similar to hold the rack in place while fitting the gear to it. Might get back with photos if I can sort temporary blip with technology
  16. Right I said I'd set up a project log of me refurbishing a set of alloys which I got. I got all 4 alloys, centre caps and the lug nuts all for a 100 Euro,Therse are genuine 16" Fird Alloys which came off a Mondeo. Here are the condition of the wheels as I got them When I removed the tyres. First step last saturday was to remove all the laquer and top coat form the alloys so that entailed going sandblasting them and here is the result. So that is what I have done so far I have also bought all the paint but wont disclose the colour until the pics are ready

    Hi all,I invested in some carbon fibre wrap of ebay! for anyone who is thinking of doing this you will need a lot a time (a hole day) and patients it drove me crazy! and this is defiantly a 2 man job i tried it by my self and absolutely failed that extra person holding the heat gun whilst you wrap really makes the difference.
