  2. Adding Extra 12V Power Socket

i have a 2006 ford fiesta and it only has one 12v power socket. i have looked at the fuse box and it has one fuse for the socket i already have. the diagram also has a spot for an additional power socket. i was wondering if that power socket would already have power running to it or would i have to wire it in myself?
  3. Hello All, New to this, not sure if I am posting in the right place, just need some help with a problem in my car. I have Ford Fiesta Titanium 2009, the bluetooth, usb, power socket (cigarette lighter) and voice command/speech recognition all do not work. The radio, CD player and the menus all work find with the media system, but the things mentioned above do not work at all... Any advice on what may be wrong would be helpful :)
  4. This Guide is now available to download in PDF format, see link: On the right hand side of the boot compartment on the Mk2.5 Focus and possibly the mk2 also, their is an orange plug which is a positive feed for a 12v power socket, the only additional items required to connect is a earth cable and a 12v socket, attach a female spade connector to the earth feed and push it in to the slot next to the positive feed, then push the orange connector on to the rear of the 12v power socket, finally choose a location on the panel you would like to mount the socket and drill the hole. their is power already being fed to the orange plug so their is no further wiring required. I Purchased Ford 12v Power supply kit Finis Code: 1021887 this kit has since been discontinued by ford, but if you wish to purchase the 12v Socket with out the earth cable the Finis code is:1333905 and costs less than £5 once you have that part you just need to make up an earth feed using a female spade connector and a ring terminal on the oposite end. it contained the 12v plug and cap 4metres of positive cable which i didnt need to use for fitting, 1 metre earth cable with female blade connector and ring terminal attached, and 8 cable ties which i didnt need to use. but this orange plug will work with any 12v socket that has 2 pins on the rear like this one found on ebay: I have crimped a ring terminal on to the opposite end of the earth feed cable, and put it on to the screw that holds the panel in place like a washer then screwed the panel back in to place, i now need to purchase a holesaw bit to fit the diameter of the 12v socket. When finished and the panels are back in place, take care to ensure the rubber boot seal over laps the plastic interior around the boot opening, to avoid any leaks.
  5. Hi Ford Owners, I'm wondering if there's anyone who knows a bit more about the specifications of the 12v Cigar Lighter in the front of the new Fiesta's. My plate is '14 if that's any reference. In my mother's model before this one ('60 plate), I used a cigar to USB adapter to charge my phone while it was running satnav in the car. It was perfect, the power output to charge was more than the current discharge, so my phone always left the car at 100% charged. The adapter I use is a 12v 2.1A USB output, and the cable I use has enough bandwidth to supply my phone with the full power. In the '60 Fiesta this worked fine. (Link to adapter) The same adapter however doesn't seem to supply enough power to counter the discharge in my '14 Fiesta though. I'm wondering if they've changed its output to ~1A now due to the term change to "Accessory Socket". Does anyone have any more information, or is it safe enough for me to shove a multimeter in there to see what it's outputting? Or are there any more tips and tricks I should be looking for with the socket? Thanks, ~Zion
  6. Hi all, i was under the panels this morning having a look up at my clutch pedal as its been acting up lately, Found out it was just the clip holding the pedal to the rod was loose, So i clamped it tight with two cable ties until i get it fixed properly.. It has now fixed the problem with the clutch :D. However when i was doing this i came across a plug that was hanging down right beside my clutch pedal were the pedal meets the rod. It looks like there is something supposed to plugged into it but i have no idea what it is!! All my lights/wipers/radio/windows etc all work perfectly so i have no idea what it is.. Heres a picture to give a better idea, Any help would be appreciated!!
  7. Hi There!

Hi all, I am currently driving in a 1.3 Fiesta Finesse which I have had for just over a year and I'm just looking for some advice on things to do to my fiesta to make look a bit cooler and general up keeping of my wee ford. Thanks for reading!
  8. I run a car camera from my 13 reg Fiesta's power socket and it's a fit-and-forget device because it's powered by the socket that's only live when the ignition's turned on. I thought all modern cars were wired this way, but my friend's new Focus has a power socket that's powered all the time - so to start and stop his little camera he has the hassle of remembering to plug and unplug the power plug for each journey. Is this the way the socket is supposed to be wired?
  9. Hello, I have recently bought a 2010 Ford Fiesta Edge. The 12V socket (by the handbrake/aux socket) is seemingly not working. The fuse (passenger compartment no. 22) was missing, but replacing this with the correct 20A fuse didn't help at all. I have looked at the Haynes manual but can't find a suitable wiring diagram to search for the sockets earthing point etc. Any ideas as to what is wrong/what to check next? Not currently a huge problem, just bugging me having something that doesn't work Many thanks in advance, Mike
