  1. Hi. I hope someone can help. I have an S reg Focus and the drivers door won't open from either inside or outside of the car. The key fob doesn't work but the key will unlock the passenger side and I have to climb across each time. The 'lock' button on the inside of the drivers door appears to be jammed in and won't come out. The central locking is working in that if I press the 'lock' button on the passenger side it locks all the other doors and vice versa. But the drivers door does nothing. I have read various posts about fixing intransigent door locks but they all assume you can open the door from either inside or out and start by instructing you to remove the door trim. What if you can't open the door at all? Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated. Dave..
  2. DTRL and front parking sensors

Hi guys   Picking up my 12-plate Titanium Focus tomorrow, just wondering if any of you have any suggestions regarding fitting front parking sensors (colour-coded) and Daytime Running Lights (the ones in the headlights, not the grill). I'm not doing it myself!! I'm looking for someone in South Wales to do it for me professionally, somewhere near the Aberdare area but anywhere between Cardiff and Swansea would be fine. If you know of someone I could get a quote from, or have any ideas, itd be very much appreciated!   Thanks!! Jody
  3. Has anyone successfully put a facelift (mk7.5 ) front onto a prefacelift fiesta (mk7)? My question is what parts would I need and how to go about the DRL'S. Also were there any issues or anything else that I should know?  I know it's an expensive job as so far the only advice I have managed to find is that financially it's not worth it. I'm still going ahead with this so any advice would be much appreciated.
  4. Evening Everybody. I hate only joining a forum to ask a question but I am looking for some advice with my 2007 (57) Focus. Wife went out in the car yesterday morning and the front wipers are no longer working - I immediately assumed that it was either the fuse or the linkage (my old Punto back in the day constantly had wiper issues). So far I have checked the fuse (Fuse 129 iirc) and it appears to be fine, I have checked and I am getting just under 12v output from the wiring loom (11.9v) and checked for any visible signs of damage/water ingress on the loom but couldnt see anything. I have tried two replacement motors from a local breakers but neither worked - the exact same as before. When I attempt to run the wipers I can hear the fuse box making the "ticking noise" that I would expect. Other functions from this stalk appear to be working without issues (rear wipers and front water jets) and all other electricals are working from what I can tell. I have had a look through the forums and it appears that people have had this issue with various different sources of the problem and hoping somebody may be able to assist with troubleshooting further. We have been discussing upgrading to Mondeo in the next month or so and really want to avoid spening cash on the car. Thanks Mark
  5. Sportka Front Panel

Hi im Ash, im new here Ive just brought a 2004 SportKA, it has some minor accident damage which has started to be repaired but the guy i got it from decided to give up and sell as his wife no longer wanted the car. From what i can see it needs a new front 'slam' panel and a headlight. So my questions are, - Is it a nightmare job to replace the slam panel, will i need any specialist tools ( im a diesel fitter, so i have a limited tool kit), is there any welding required? - Will a slam panel and headlights from a standard KA fit my Sport KA? - Finally, is there a Haynes manual / workshop manual for the SportKA, had a look online but cant seem to find anything? On a separate note, couldnt be happier with my purchase, i get fun little car while the wife sticks with the bring family B roads have just become very intresting. Cheers
  6. So, I just bought my third Ford in a row (second Focus). Had the choice of a 15 plate with 10 miles on the clock or a 64 plate, 1 user, 3,000 miles but every safety feature under the sun included. I went for the 15 plate but now wondering whether it would be possible to have some of the safety features included on the other car to be installed on mine, or whether that has to be done on manufacture. I have a Titanium with active city stop, rear parking sensors and cruise control. Road sign and lane recognition and blind spot alerts would all be nice. I am wondering whether it is relatively easy to add on the features that use the forward facing camera behind my rear view mirror (ie whether it is just a case of updating the software used for the acitve city stop). I assume adding blind spot recognition would be pretty pricy as it would need side sensors and new wing mirrors? Does anyone have any experience of having such features installed by their dealer after purchase and the approximate cost?
  7. Hello all, great forum here that I've been reading for a while. We've recently purchased a 2012 Fiesta Edge which we really love, but I am in the process of fitting some parking sensors front and rear into the factory positions. I have no issues with the fitting of the sensors, or with vehicle electrics etc. as I've done this many times - but I want that factory look in our 'new' car. I've ordered the 'Front Parking Switch' and bezel from Ford and it is exactly what I need. I've even managed to work out which pins provide a momentary action to engage the parking sensors but for the life of me am unable to get the backlight or 'on' light to work on the bench out of the car. I'm led to believe the multiplug for this bezel (which can also house the ESP switch and Airbag Off light) is present in all Fiestas. I'm hoping when I take the dash apart tomorrow I will find this plug and plug it in - if anything to get the backlight working. But does anyone have any experience with getting the 'on' LED to work, I'm guessing this would normally activate a Ford Module for the factory sensors, but I still cannot figure out on the bench how it illuminates the LED, even following the PCB tracks under a magnifying glass. If anyone has done this before (I guess not as I did try searching) and can help in any way that would be great! :)
  8. Repairing Front Bumper

I have damaged the the lower part of front bumper by hitting a raised kerb. The visible damage is not much but the underside looks a mess. Are there any pictures available showing the various parts of the complete bumper assembly?
  9. Attempted Theft

Hi, I have recently bought a 2009 Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 (90) TDCi. (2 Weeks Ago). Just yesterday I returned to find that some scum bag had tried to steal the car. They gained entry via the driver door. The handle is missing, they must have used a screw driver to pop the latch. Inside the vehicle they have pulled off the plastic steering cover, and chiselled out the ignition from the metal chamber. In doing so the metal chamber which is part of the steering column has been broken in half which is what hold the ignition barrel in place. I have managed to put the ignition back into the correct position along with the immobiliser and the car starts. I would like to know advice on getting this fixed. Costs etc as I am unaware of the steering column is hydraulic or electric. I wanted to get advice before I phone my insurance company today. My excess is 250 voluntary and 200 compulsory. 450 in total. All advice is welcome. Thank you
  10. hi all, All of a sudden the temperature and fuel gauges are not working on my 2007 MK2 Focus (1.6 TDCI). Noticed that when the engine is switched off, they dont go back to their original location. Is this something fixable or do I need a new cluster? Thanks Mark
  11. Hi guys, I have a 2001 Mk3 mondeo estate 1.8 Petrol. The drivers door got smashed and the barrel was destroyed and the car was stuck with all the doors locked. A locksmith charged me £120 to get the door open and make a new standard key, but still only the drivers door would open, the rest of the doors remain locked. I found a cheap door on ebay, so I'm hoping after putting that on, the other doors will unlock when I unlock that. The locksmith said that my remote key is ok and communicating with the car, as you can hear the clicking noise from the dash, when I push the buttons and if I hold down the unlock button, all the windows will open. I'm told the central locking module is in the drivers door, so that is obviously damaged aswell. So after putting the new door on, will i need to have the key re-programmed, or should it just work? Thanks
  12. Hi All I have a shiny new Gord Galaxy Titanium Edition 2014. I have noticed that the front and rear headlamps always stay on when the ignition is on. It is supposed to have auto sensing headlights when is where the knob is set to. Even if I move the knob to manual "0" position, the lights still stay on. ( The dash lights go off in the position). I took it back to the dealer and was told those are the running lights but that sounds like nonsense to me. Anybody know if he's right, will I always have to drive around with my lights on? (and let me clear, they are not the small types of running lights, it is the main headlamps were talking about). There are loads of Galaxys on the road but I have not seen any with headlamps on during the day on any of them. Hope someone can shed some light (sorry, couldn't resist) Imran
  13. I am looking at buying a 1.4 2012 fiesta, having done the deal but yet to collect I have noticed that there is some white residue on the sill which has run out of the door drain hole. I don't know whether it is door wax or window grease which has run out. The car is black so could have heated up and run out. It is giving me a nagging doubt, has anyone else experienced this?
  14. Hello. Recently, backing out of a parking spot, I caught my passenger side door mirror on a pillar and wrenched it rather severely. Nothing broke, but the casing snapped out of place and the mirror assembly was pulled a little ways out of its socket. Re-assembling the mirror case was no trouble at all, and everything, from the indicator light to the orientation motors, works perfectly, but the mirror isn't properly fitted to the door. The piece of plastic that connects the mirror case to the door panel doesn't lie flat on the door; rather, it's pretty loose. I found the nut that holds the mirror in place, and managed to undo it (it appears that the bold that holds the mirror wasn't bent), but, when tried to fit the mirror back into place, I found a metal prong next to the fixing bolt that doesn't seem to have anywhere to go, and prevents the mirror from fitting into place properly. How can I fit my mirror back into its place?
  15. Can anyone offer me any advice on removing/replacing the front door seal of my 2006 Ford Fusion? It is worn in the middle. After examining it I can't quite work out how it is attached.
  16. Hi, looking for some advice in regards to the outer front and back door trim moulding or b panels I think they are called on my 2006 Ford Fiesta 5 door.... Both panels have come off - I have them and wondering if I can reuse them and put new glue on (they are clipped on plus were glued - glue has lost its stickyness) or do I need to buy new panels? And if so, any ideas where you can get the panels form in Australia? Cheers
  17. Okay so on my travels through the world wide inter-web thingy I have stumbled across some cheap parts for what could be an interesting retrofit project. Basically the components to create puddle lights in the wing mirrors as follows: The cost works out at £25. I can imagine it requires the mirror unit to be removed to cut out the hole, then running some wires to the control unit. I have noticed before that there is a square marked out on the underside of the unit for the puddle light unit so would just be following the lines. Any feedback welcome, not sure if I will go along with this, but as money is tight and I really want to have a go at some sort of car based cheapish project. if those words can be used in the same sentence :P
  18. Hi all My 2009 Zetec focus is running smooth apart from a slight issue with the bonnet. It doesn't seem to sit completely shut, instead it it raised a few inches from the car when closed. The car isn't springing any warning signs regarding it not being fully shut which is promising. What could I do about this? I'm concerned about it becoming a possible safety hazard as well as rain escaping below the bonnet hood. What is causing this and how can I overcome it? Thank you!
  19. Guys / gals, I am trying to fix my friend's 64 plate fiesta (face lifted version) as she has broken the wing mirror on the driver's side. It's a 1.2 petrol (not ST or anything fancy like that). But....I'm having trouble finding out if a wing mirror for a 2008-2013 fiesta will fit, or do I need to get one specifically for a 2014 model? I am getting conflicting reports whether they will be compatible or not...who can settle this mystery once and for all?
  20. Removing A Mk2 Front Wing

Hi all, I've recently stripped back the sills on my car, treated the metal & resprayed (so far good) however on doing this it became obvious that the bottom section of the front RHS wing is 80% rust i.e. the part which the mud flap bolts through & is beyond being saved. I know replacement (pre-sprayed) wings can be purchased which my cause a minor colour mis-match due to UV fade etc, my question is does anyone have any idea how to remove the front wing? The Haines manual doesn't detail this process, I'm confident working on the car & am able to remove the arch liner. The only Youtube vids I could find for this are MK1's which may not have bolts etc in the same place etc.
  21. Window Seal Problem

Hi all, was looking for some advice for my Mk7, after fitting my speakers and then re-fitting the door cards, the inner seal with the felt on the back of It that rests against the window doesn't seem to want to go back to Its normal place and sits high on one end when you put the window up, is there a certain way to fix this back together or something, Ive put some pictures to try and show what I mean
  22. Mk5 Heat Problem

I've heard and read that fiesta MK4 and MK5s can have a heat problem with either hot or cold constantly feeding through and not being able to change the temperature. Mine is doing the exact same. It's feeding through constant hot air. After having read a solution, I thought it could be a thermostat problem. The guy I bought the car from told me he'd already changed that not so long before I bought the car and it was bought in March. I then read it could be a heater control valve problem. I changed the heater control valve and it worked! For a day or two... No I'm slightly stumped as to what next to look for. I don't believe it could be the matrix. I don't think there is a blockage anywhere otherwise it wouldn't have worked as soon as it was swapped. I'm reluctant to think its the connection as I checked that while swapping over the HCV and it seemed OK. Plus, it wasn't all that long ago. There's definitely no Leaks. The head gasket hasn't gone and its not on its way out. A few people had mentioned the heater control panel might be an issue. The fans are working on all settings but there's no wires running from the temperature knob. It's all running from the fan switch, the bottom of the PCB board and the 12v power supply. I don't think it could be the HCP neither becauxe it was working g when the HCV was swapped over. And I'm sure the wiring is normal anyhow. Has anyone got any ideas? I've searched all over this forum and I can't seem to find the answer. I'd rather not take it tons mechanic and part with my money haha. Thanks guys.
  23. Hi guys, I'm a fairly new member of the forums and I'm looking for some advice regarding rust. I have a '54 plate Fusion 1.4 TDCi which is developing a pocket of rust behind the weld seam at the bottom of the front passenger door, as per the pic below: The seam that passes the patch of rust has bulged forward and deforms if you press it (creaks, springs back out). I suspect it has spread deeper than the eye can see due to the bubbling paint in the area around it. I would quite like to fix this (if possible); I'm very fond of the car (inherited from parents for an industrial placement at uni) and want to keep it going as long as possible due to how practical it is and how super cheap it is to run. I know it's 10+ years old, so rust etc. is to be expected.. I'm guessing the loose seam section and rust would have to be removed down to the unaffected metal - if I went this far would the subsequent repair be possible with off the shelf products? Or would it have to be patched (welded?) by a body repair shop?
  24. Fiesta Versions

Anyone help please with something I find confusing as a newcomer to Fords. I have a 2011 Fiesta Automatic 1.4L, otherwise basic no bling except A/C. The numbers are all correct on the car plates and documents. I dont understand why at the top of the Vin plate on the drivers side door panel it shows as Titanium & 1-4 Duratec I thought that Titanium was for the top of the range? and thought the engine would be Zetec. The car does not have any badges on the rear passenger side where sometimes I see Zetec, Titanium etc. Could someone please explain Titanium and Duratec Thanks
  25. Hi All Have just picked up a Ford Mondeo, 3 owners, 84k on the clock. Had a sparse service history, for the first 50k it was Ford serviced, then last 2 owners, it was serviced 3 more times at 12k intervals. Alas the service booklet was lost on last sale, so I have to dig up the history. So have bought 1 years warranty for mechanical breakdown, just to cover myself from the dealer. Anything else I should be looking out for on the 2.2l TDCi? Has the dealer MOT and service this Friday for free, so will get them to fix anything that you guys bring up on this post. LOVE Fords, this now joins the Fiesta we have!
