  3. Hi All, I hope someone can help! I recently jump started my Mondeo as the battery had ran down overnight (due to an inside light being left on!). Since then the audio unit does not turn on. I checked the fuse but it hadn't blown. I then removed the audio unit and disconnected the power from the back. When I reconnected the power, to my delight, it all sprung back to life. I had to put in my pin, which I did, and ttuned in radio 1, everything set how I had it before. I thought everything was fine so I went in for dinner. When I later came back out to my car in the evening the audio unit, again, was not turning on!!! Can anyone tell me what is going on here and how I can resolve this? The heater blower controls are also connected to this unit and so atm I'm driving everywhere freezing cold!...and winter is coming! Appreciate any help.... Rob Image below
  4. Hi all, I'm new to this I was wondering if I was going mad after replacing the ford cd 6000 stereo in my 2002 focus 1.8tdci only to have the airbag light come on??? Is there any way for this to happen as I wouldn't have thought the airbag would have anything to do with the car stereo loom, Is it a case of buying a new module and just fitting it, had it on a diagnostic scanner and the guy said that the problem was airbag module not turned on???? Btw I cannot find how to search forum topics so I'm not sure if this has been posted before, Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, thanks
  5. Hi There I recently purchased a Sony DAB unit on eBay with the intention of upgrading my existing standard stereo. The Sony came off a 2012 fiesta as well so I figured it would be a straight swap (excluding the DAB aerial of course), oh how wrong was I! turns out the Sony unit has an extra 26 pin connector at the back as well as the additional aerial connector (see pic). It also doesn't have the usb plug the standard stereo has (though I'm not really fussed about that as I'm not gong to be using it). So what I want to know is, what is this extra 26pin socket for? can I still use the newer stereo without it? is there some kind of funky franken-connector I need to make in order to get it to work? Or should I sack it off, sell the unit on eBay and find another solution? Some help on this would be greatly appreciated. I've seen similar threads on this before but the other stereo involved was different from my standard one and so the solution doesn't seem to be the same
  6. Chewed Screw Head

The screw that holds the cover of my cabin filter housing has had the head chewed up pretty bad and I can't unscrew it to change the cabin filter. Any suggestions on how I can get it off/out?
  7. 6000cd

I've just brought a 58 reg focus and it has a 6000cd unit in it and it's got the green and red phone symbols on it and I've tried to connect my iPhone 4 to it via Bluetooth but it won't find the head unit and I've looked through the the menu and can't find Bluetooth on there and the aux plug is broken. Any ideas please ?
  8. So I bought a new head unit from Halfords today and removed my 6000CD, Unfortunately the harness they recommended for my Model was totally wrong, Also gave me the wrong removal keys! I Managed to get the head unit out with a little help from a friend. Sitting with no head unit for a couple of days while I wait for my new harness. Notice I needed a new face plate too so found this steal on e-bay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371253357293?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Includes the correct Keys (not that I need them), Harness and Face Plate Head Unit : http://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/dab-radios-car-stereos/sony-wx-gt90bt-double-din-car-stereo What Halfords sold me : http://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/stereo-fitting-accessories/harness-adaptor-pc2-09-4 Will post pics when I get it all installed.
  9. Cylinder Compression

Any thoughts on this??? I booked my car in for a service (2012 Fiesta Metal, N/A), before the service the car's driveability was completely fine, apart from a flat spot on throttle response on a cold start when driving. During the service, I got a call from the mechanic and he said he changed the plugs and it didn't start smoothly, he replaced plugs again and still had an abnormal start-up. He done a compression test on all cylinders and said 2nd and 3rd cylinders are only at 50% compression rating? ( around 75 psi). He reckons it could be a head gasket fracture or related? I got the car back and still, the performance isn't any different, not misfiring, no blue smoke, or any obvious indication that its gasket related. What could it be?
  10. Swapping 1.25 Duratec Head To 1.4

Hi, I have a Mk6 Fiesta with a 1.25 Duratec has anyone changed the cylinder head to one off the 1.4 duratec? Or know if doing it is possible? Many thanks
  11. Hi, last year I did a complete stereo installation in my 2005 Focus MK2. I am from Norway, so please excuse the bad english :) And the metric system :) I was very dissapointed with the sound quality in the car. The Head-Unit, Ford CD6000 suffer from a combination of poor dynamic resolution and lack of power - resulting in very bad sound quality. Even replacing it with the cheapest aftermarket cd-players will give you a great improvement in sound quality. I started with a plan on only change the head unit, but somehow it really took off. It ended with a complete stereo installation, including reinforcing the electrical system and sound dampening. At the same time I wanted to make the installation not showing - except for the head unit. I wanted to have good bass, 2x12" woofers in the back, but I use the space there on occasion, so the box had to be easily removed. The choice of components where made of good buys at the time - and Infinity is an old favourite of mine. Start of with some pictures of the finished installation:
  12. Aftermarket Headunit Mk7.5

Hey, I was looking at the aftermarket head unit from "Drive Audio" it seems to be the best looking one i can find, where i don't have to move the current display to a new location. Does anyone have it? http://www.car-vision.co.uk/ford-fiesta-2013/313-driveaudio-ford-fiesta-2013-onwards-gps-bt-dvd-ipod-rds-dab-5060431020355.html Seems to integrate with menus and so fourth out of the box. Or does any one have any other kind of head unit? Thanks! /Mick

  14. Focus Titanium - ls rns sat nav mp3 radio navigation unit not working. it has twice powered off and powered on spontainiously without requiring the code to be entered to re-start. whilst powered off the new battery power was totally disapated. there was about 1 amp flowing. on removal of the unit the current flow ceased. the power comsumption of the unit has been checked whilst out of the car and it is effectively zero (this is not definitive as the unit cannot be properly powered up out of the car and the intermittent nature of the fault). Can anyone offer any suggestions?
  15. Smd Led Number Plate Unit

Just ordered a set of these off ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111375631829 Has anyone bought these and installed them? If so how easy were they to install, do the old units need to be cut at the wire and connected to these? They claim to be plug and play but I know that's not always the case!
  16. My dad has just purchased a 57 plate Focus ST, we bought the car yesterday and as we were driving it back home I had a play around with its Radio/Sat Nav system. The radio didn't work and the bluetooth audio sound quality was diabolical. The plan to solve this is that we would like to take out this aftermarket radio and put in a standard ford radio/CD player with no Sat Nav. If we were to purchase something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FOCUS-GALAXY-S-MAX-C-MAX-6000CD-/261724535836?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3cefff7c1c would the change over with the wiring be simple or will we have to get adapters to make the radio and CD to work? Many thanks.
  17. Hi all, I've been having fun with my local garage recently. The head gasket was going on my Ford Focus 2.0l TDI (07 plate) and i didn't have time to replace it myself so sent it in to a local garage to replace. In doing the head gasket replacement they somehow have sheared my camshaft in two, a straight shear through the shaft where it joins one of the cams (I know its milled down but this is easiest way of describing it!). I'm struggling to understand what they did to generate the kind of force needed to shear a 1" steel shaft, this happened while they had the cylinder head off and obviously the engine wasn't running but my feeling was i couldn't break it if i tried!. Their explanation is it happened wile they were torquing down the camshaft as part of standard and correct procedure. Also that camsafts can be brittle and that they can shear during reassembly. This is something i'm struggling to get my head around, my feel is more happened then they are letting on. Can anyone advise if this failure mode of a camshaft can be expected or if not any ideas what they could have done to cause the shaft to shear? Many thanks, Paul
  18. Hi, I am looking at replacing the Sony head unit I have in my MK2.5 Focus with a Kenwood Single DIN DAB item but I have some questions, 1. The clock on the dash is set via the Sony head unit. How will I change the time if I change the head unut. 2. I am looking to replace the standard Ford aerial with the Ford DAB kit. What connector is on the end of the Ford DAB aerial lead? Will the DAB lead fit straight into the back of the Kenwood? 3. Are there any other considerations I should have? Thanks in advance.
  19. I am looking to replace the head unit of my 2007 S Max but I am struggling to find a nice double din stereo which has red back lights/features to match the rest of the car. All units I am finding are blue (or very ugly). I am preferably looking for a touchscreen, has anyone replaced theirs and if so with which unit? Any suggestions or experience would be gratefully received... Thanks in advance
  20. Hi All, I've recently purchased a 2007 Fiesta TDCi with 35k on the clock and think I may have got more than I bargained for. A bit of background on the car - it is one lady owner from new, has only covered 37k and has full service history (not Ford). In general, the car is in excellent condition and appears to have been well maintained. When I purchased the car, the lady told me that the car overheated intermittently at around 70 mph. I took it on a test drive and was unable to replicate the problem despite several attempts. She said that the garage had told her that the thermostat was the likely culprit. Anyway, as I was driving it home on the M25, the temperature gauge shot up so I quickly pulled over. The car cooled down almost immediately and the needle plumetted back to half way. I drove it again and kept it at 50 mph with no issue. I was able to drive at 70 mph with the heaters on full and the windows dropped for the hour long drive home. I had the thermostat changed and the problem persisted...this to me suggests that I may have bought a bigger problem. So my questions are... 1) Has anyone experienced anything similar on the TDCi engine? 2) Can anyone offer any advise on the likely culprit? I'm arranging for a pressure test to be carried out on the engine next week as I've been told by a mechanic friend that the engines are the same as the Peugeot and may have a head gasket issue. I'm expecting head gasket or waterpump to be honest, but would rather save time and money by getting some advice from the forum. Any help is much appreciated, Best wishes, Mark

  24. Hi All, Haven't posted in a while, been busy.! Just wondered, does anyone have any info for fitting a sub into a 2013 Fiesta ST with a Sony head unit? I've done it to a Pre facelift (mk7) and a Mk7.5 and they were both fairly similar, but they both had standard Ford head units. Is the Sony different? Thanks
  25. Hi, I've seen soooo many cheap head units on Ebay Etc. promising all the features but am reluctant to spend on anything that will end up being crap! If anyone has any links or info on a decent head unit for a Ford Focus mk2 please let me know!
