  1. Location of rear fog light relay?

When i press the rear fog light button, nothing happens. The bulb is ok, so I'm suspecting a faulty relay, occasionally I hear a short buzzing sound when pushing the button, but not near enough to identify it further. I have browsed through forums, manuals, asked my way around - but haven't been able to find any information or diagrams showing the position of the relay. Can anyone here point me in a direction? S-max 2008 TDCi Thanks in advance Thomas (Denmark)
  2. Hello chaps, There are two little mods I want to do to my car, the first is a HID conversion, and the second is to hardwire some ambient lighting into the map light for the front footwells and maybe the centre console. I was hoping some of you could give me some advice and/or links to a reliable HID conversion kit (H7 only) and to a good, red, ambient lighting products. Any forum guides that come to mind regarding these two mods would be great too! Thanks in advance!
  3. Hi all, new to this so be gentle 😀 I have a 2014 Eco Boost ZS, is it possible to retro fit the ambient lighting strip above the glove box? Our work fiesta Tdci on a 61 plate has one and it looks good, would like one on mine even better if in blue like the dash display. Cheers J
  4. Hi, I have just bought a fiesta zetec and I come across ambient lighting. I have worked out now that I have a red led strip above the glove box which looks amazing in the dark, but after some invertergation on the internet I see that other models have ambient led lights in the foot wells. Usually ford fit all there models with the wire looms and don't tell you so I'm looking for some help. I do have the normal bulbs in the wells but they are the convenience lights and go off when I close the door. Has my car got the wiring loom for ambient lighting in the foot wells? If so is it easy to fit bulbs in the foot wells?
  5. Hey guys, So I am just new to this club and I don't actually have my Fiesta as of yet - picking up a 62 plate white, three door, 1.25 Fiesta Zetec on Friday - however I do have a query about something I would really like to change on it. That is the colour of the text on the small radio screen (that is the really annoying orange/ red), I was wondering if there was a way I could change the colour of this screen? There probably won't be but I was just wondering because it is really annoying. I would like to change it to the blue text colour that is the text colour of the newer Fiesta models. If there are any alternatives I would also like to be made aware of them, I was looking online at actually replacing my centre console to the black centre console that is in the newer models and also changing the screen but not sure if this is possible? Thanks guys!
  6. Dashboard Lighting

Hi all! I'm new to all this lark but am committed to getting my MkVI up to a decent standard. Right, my query lies with the dashboard and how it's lit. I'm wanting to replace the dashboard lights with LED's because i'm told they're considerably brighter. Anyway, I have no idea where to start? what bulbs would fit? All any any help would be greatly appreciated! Jacob
  7. Does the 2015 Fiesta Zetec S have ambient lighting under the pedals and glove box? When I ordered it said ambient lighting. I've seen pictures of red ambient lighting around the cup holders, under the pedals and under the glove box but does the Zetec S have this as standard?
  8. Hi, I want to change some bulbs on my ST. To clarify, she is a 2014 Ford Fiesta ST2 (180) UK Spec. Could someone just go over the links and check I'm not making any mistakes, it would be greatly appreciated. As for the footwells I already have blue 13 SMD in there, the bulbs were given to me and one was always faulty (intermittent), you can see in the picture on the passenger side how they look (drivers side is the faulty one), I don't want to end up buying ones that are either TOO bright making it look super chavvy and I don't want ones that leave a circle of light on the floor. 9. Hi, hopefully an easy question for my first post :) Just bought a 2005 focus mk2 zectec, its my first ford and so far very happy. The only problem i currently have with it is the interior lighting, i have 2 small children and need better light at night. I only have a single light in the front, and it doesn't really give off much light. So reading around and looking at the different model specs i see that the ghia and titanum came with front light with map lights and a rear interior light. So my plan is to install a new front light, with map lights and a rear light. Ive got hold of one off ebay and should be with me tomorrow. Going to install LED lights in this. It does come with a surround and hoping to use the spare surround and the old single front light in the back. I have looked at roof liners on ebay and see the light looks to be inline with the rear grab handles Has any one done this mod and is it a case of just cutting the head liner? Im fine with wiring just don't want to get in trouble or have to buy a new head liner? Thanks in advnace
  10. Smd Led Number Plate Unit

Just ordered a set of these off ebay: Has anyone bought these and installed them? If so how easy were they to install, do the old units need to be cut at the wire and connected to these? They claim to be plug and play but I know that's not always the case!
  11. Hi, First of all I'm a 27 yr old medic not a mechanic, so if members could reply as if I were a lay person I would be very grateful. I'm not opposed to detailed replies and I'm happy to do a bit more reading if someone could point me in the right direction. I have a 2011 reg Fiesta Zetec that was perfectly fine until a van driver reversed into the back of it whilst I was stationary in a car park. Although repairs took place via insurance and all was well for 2-3 months, I'm now finding that my near side brake light doesn't work at all and my reversing light flickers and is dim. Initially I went to Kwik fit for a bulb change. After a bulb change was unsuccessful I was told by the mechanic that there seemed to be a wiring fault. Kwik fit don't specialise in wiring so I was referred to SMC. After visiting Ford SMC Gravesend I was basically told the work totalled £1000+ but even after I persisted the mechanic didn't explain what was actually wrong, for some reason he also disabled my rear parking sensors profusely insisting that he needed to do it. I then visited a local garage for a second opinion and the mechanic kindly explained that I required a new rear light wiring loom and connector which he said he could get for around £400, but told me to also go on ebay and call up any Ford spares dealers I could google. He priced his labour at £90. He said the repairs post accident may not have been completed to a high enough standard using worn parts but this is when he also started to seem a little vague. I have a few questions if anyone can answer them: 1) What could possibly cause damage to said wiring so that it would need to be entirely replaced? (considering my Fiesta seems pretty new.) 2) Does the advice of the mechanic seem sound? (something about such an extensive repair seems off to me.) 3) Does anyone know where I could find a rear light wiring loom and connector for such a new vehicle? (everything on ebay seems to be salvaged from older models and I haven't had a chance to call spares dealers just yet - I was hoping to be a little more informed before I do) 4) Why would the Ford SMC mechanic disable my rear parking sensors? 5) Would such repairs really total £1000+ (inc labour) 6) Considering I have moved insurance company since the claim closed and repairs were completed, is there any way that I can question the work done in the repairs and have my insurance cover any such corrective repair? (the garage used via insurance could have made mistakes) 7) Is the medic in me overthinking this? Im only 27 and not experienced in auto-repair so I'm in no position to judge but again, something doesn't seem right. Why would the entirety of the light wiring need to be replaced? (Please correct me if I'm wrong here) I hope some more technically inclined members would be so kind as to help me out here. Luckily I don't need to drive for my current hospital location so the car is just sitting on my driveway for the next 8 weeks. Any advice is appreciated and I'm happy to provide more info if needed. Kind regards, B
  12. Hello, Im a newbie, was wondering if anyone has changed the red 'rim' style lighting in the cup holder by the handbrake!? Thanks, :) Toby Fiesta Zetec S 1.0 Ecoboost owner
  13. Irritating Issues

Hi, I'm new around here and just bought a 2013 Focus Zetec S 1.0 Ecoboost. Pleased with it so far but have a few things I'm struggling to sort out and I know loads of you can help me out. 1) The drivers window goes down automatically but doesn't go up in auto. Is this standard or is there a fault? 2) How do you set it for the doors to auto lock when driving? 3) I used to have a Focus ST (now that was a great car, miss it so much . . . . . . ) and it had wiring for footwell lighting and it just needed the lamps putting in. Is it the same case for the Zetec S? Steve
  14. The 2013 Zetec S only comes with the illuminated cup holder, you 'can' buy the ambient bar that goes above the glove box. but what about the ambient lights on the driver and passenger doors? Well i have a pair!! They 'are' for sale in that particular section, but as they are for a fiesta only, hope its ok to mention here as they are very car specific. I have the lighting kit and wiring for each door, they were made to order and not cheap, but i found the pin in the door hinge connector that powers them properly, you do not need to go to fords and have them switched on! Hardest bit is removing the door card and hinge connector block, which is actually really easy!!!! They are ready to be fitted, the hole in the door card will already exists, just look under where the window switch is. Asking £40 for both! If you can come down and collect, i will give you a hand fitting them......for free to FOC members if you make a small contribution to my charity. (the amount i leave up to you) ;) They are fitted standard to the Titanium, X and ST3 models only, and if you want to add that little extra i also wired in ambient lights to the top pockets where the chrome door opener goes, and ALL work with the rest of the ambient lights in your car as it should, and look awesome!!!! Let me know, postage available if you are too far away and i will provide install guidance and photos to aid you. Let me know... :)
  15. Hey guys, I was looking into adding some rgb led strips that could tie in to the factory ambient lighting system to colour match. I was wondering if anyone here had done that successfully, and what type of light strip they added, and where they connected it. Much appreciated
  16. Hi all, first post here so be gentle. Im getting my new fiesta st3 next week and one of the things I want to change are the lights. Im after red interior led lights and neon/blue exterior or whatever is recommended. Please could one of you kind folk provide me with links to where I can acquire the correct kit as im very new to this. Many thanks
  17. Focus Zetec S Footwell Lighting

Hello I brought myself a Zetec S 62 reg a while back. I have been reading a lot about footwell lighting and this has really taken my fancy and now I want to install them. I have no idea where to wire the lighting to. I have followed loads of different instruction some saying they have wires there for it other saying they don't. I therefore removed my glovebox to work out myself what I need to do. There is clearly no wiring for footwell lighting. Could someone tell me where I could wire the footwell lighting to (instructions would be great). I am hoping that the footwell lighting comes on when I unlock the car and stays on in till I lock the car back up. I looked at wiring to the glovebox lighting but I noticed the power remains even after you lock the car up ( I don't want a dead battery lol) any help, advice, guidance would be great! Thanks
  18. Hi all, I've got some RBG LED lights which i'm installing this evening into the footwells on my Fiesta.. I think I want them switched by the side/head lights coming on, obviously I can poke around with a multimeter and keep turning the switch on and off but I just wondered if anyone knew where there was an easy to find location? If not I will post my findings, I'm guessing the fuse box behind the glove box is the best place to come from, providing I can get a nice tap/splice off it.
  19. Hi all, Over the weekend, I checked the car, and to my huge disappointment, it appears it does not have the footwell lighting sockets installed. I checked some of the older threads on this topic, and have gathered that: (1) I will need to buy the sockets and wire them. (2) For the passenger side, apparently it is possible to: - take the glovebox out - find the loom/wires that were originally meant for the footwell lighting -tape some wires to it, and channel it down from behind the glovebox, past the HVAC in the footwell, and to the metal bracket where the bulb is supposed to be. So here are my questions: (1) Where do I find the part for the bulb holder? Any other parts necessary? Any links? (2) Is the method for wiring the passenger side correct? (3) How would I go about wiring the drivers side? Is it easier vs. the passenger? (4) Anything else I have missed out? (This is my first ever car mod btw, but I have a knowledge of electronics.) I hope this isn't too time consuming, but I would love to have some decent night time lighting...
  20. Hi There!

Hi all, I am currently driving in a 1.3 Fiesta Finesse which I have had for just over a year and I'm just looking for some advice on things to do to my fiesta to make look a bit cooler and general up keeping of my wee ford. Thanks for reading!
  21. Fitting Hids

Hey all. I was just wondering , I know hids are illegal but I was thinking of putting hids just in main beam. What do you all think??
  22. can someone give me some information on wiring ambient lighting. I have missile style switch which has got three pins on it 1.on and labelled 20A 12V the earth how do i connect up the switch from the power switch and also the switch to the lights. Also being 12V and 20A what cable do i need to use?
  23. [i originally posted this as a reply to an older thread but feel it may be of use as identifying the problem and also one possible solution. Hope it helps] Ford Focus Mk1: Instrument cluster erratic behaviour, with (or without) internal/external lights issues (Apologies for verbosity) This first occured approx 4 years ago. Whilst driving on the motorway (typically I had to be above about 50mph) the speedo sometimes drops to zero, then returns to the correct speed a second or so later. This may then be followed by the rev counter dropping to zero and a second or so later recovering, then the engine management light coming on and going off, the odometer display going to horizontal lines and so on. Sometimes this would be completely at random just happening every now and then. At other times it would happen for several minutes with the dials and warning light going on and off though usually not all together. I found a few forum threads and implemented the removal and WD40'ing of the instrument cluster but this had no effect. (A friend had had a similar problem on his Focus and had found that this cluster connector fix had worked for him **). As the car drove perfectly well with no mis-fires or other safety issues I continued to drive it while monitoring whether the problem was getting any worse. However, after a month or so it then progressed to another level. As well as the instrument cluster issue it would then have periods with all the vehicle lights flickering including the headlights, internal lights and all of the console illumination. Having found another forum thread, and taking a bit of a punt, I had the battery changed but also had all the earth bonding points cleaned and tightened. All of the issues went away (but it was unclear whether it was a battery fault or the earth bonding). However the important point was that it was nothing to do with the instrument cluster itself but was the primary electrical supply to the vehicle. 4 weeks ago the faults re-occured. This time all of the symptoms started at the same time. Instrument dials dropping to zero, warning lights coming on and off, internal/external lights flickering etc. In a series of tests it seemed that the issue became worse if the A/C was switched on and/or the headlights, heated windscreen, heated rear window or other heavy electrical loading. Again this pointed to an electrical supply/voltage problem. After inspection, I determined that the negative battery terminal was slightly loose - not really loose, you had to put some pressure on it, but it could just about be turned by hand. Also there was some corrosion on the earth bonding point from the neg terminal to the vehicle chassis - this point is located under the air filter box. I cleaned the bonding point and had a new terminal clamp fitted for the battery. Again, since these actions the issues have all gone away. Both the negative terminal being loose and the bonding point being corroded could cause the voltage being seen by the vehicle systems to be low or fluctuate depending on the load. This in turn could cause the instrument cluster microprocessor to glitch or reset and other systems to misbehave. We can't say whether all such faults can be fixed by such simple remedies but it's certainly worth checking as a first stage before looking at more complex diagnostics. Good luck! [** End note: the instrument cluster removal / WD40'ing fix that has sorted some owners erratic instruments issue probably has a similar "root problem". Over a period of time the connector contact interface to the cluster may degrade, becoming more resistive and dropping the power supply volts to the instrument cluster by some small amount or affecting sensor signal paths. By disconnecting, lubing and re-connecting the harness, the contacts are cleaned and normal service may resume. Note that if the problem is with the harness connector you would be unlikely to also get the progression to the lighting flickering etc that I had]
  24. Hello. I am from Greece and i am new to the Forum. I would like to ask a question. My model i fiesta mk7 titanium 2009 and it has build in a LED light bars for dashboard and the small compartment underneath the A/C control. It has also two Footwell lights(white lamps) one under the driver end one under the co-passenger that light on when the door open/unlock the car and light out when the engine starts. Is there a quide to transform these lamps to ambient red lights that light on when i unlock the car(like the original ambient lights) and turn off when i lock the car (like the original ambient lights.) Thank you for your reply. Regards, Antonis
  25. Fitted some 1.5W high power LEDs into mrs fiesta mk7 today :) these are the ones used , highly recomended -----very bright!!---- :)
