  1. Hey, I've got a (new to me) '62 plate focus estate titanium X, 1.6TDCI (115) stop-start engine with keyless entry and keyless start button. it has around 120k on the clock. Timing belt/chain has just been done. I've had it arpund 2 weeks. I have a problem where the car will not start using the button (have not tried the emergency key yet) it takes many attempts for the car to start. A faint, but dull click can be heard after pressing the button - sounds a bit like  the starter motor solanoid -but don't read too deep into that. it cut out at the weekend when I was on holiday - it was either stop-start kicking in, or me fumbling about and made it cut-out, or it just cut-out its self - I'm not sure. either way it wouldn't start, all signs pointed towards having a flat battery, that's what it felt like. THe AA came out and couldn't start it either, eventually it just started by fluke.140miles later after getting going again it did the same thing when I turned the car off to pick the dog up, got in the car and it would not start until about 8 tries of pressing the button, each time there was a faint, dull clicking noise from the engine bay. there's no warnings that I can see, but I did see *something* about hill-start assist on the display as I got into the car for the first time on the day it first broke down. here's a video (car was warm - I'd just stpped it to nip into doctors) https://www.dropbox.com/s/n9yszdu8wig847e/20160201_105618.mp4?dl=0     The AA ran diagnostics but their system didn't read the ford codes and he said there were 5 electrical faults in the memory but he could not tell me what the errors meant. (p.s I'm not talking about the ~4 sec delay between pressing the button and waiting for the coils to warm up where the engine fires its self after the short pause. This happens with a warm car too)
  2. Stop Start Not Working

    Hi, I'm guessing this one has been discussed quite a bit, so apologies if I'm going over old ground, but I haven't found the answer to this specific question - does anyone know if there is an ECU reset or similar in the engine for the SS? My SS stopped worked a few months ago, having worked all through last winter. Had it checked out and the battery was low on charge - so now got a brand new battery (correct one for SS). SS still not working. I've tried turning off climate control completely, which sometimes stops it kicking in. Engine was warm (my daily commute is 20miles each way), and the outside temperature was reading 5degrees. So as far as I'm aware, there shouldn't be anything stopping it from kicking in. I know some people don't like it, but I spent quite a bit of time in traffic and find it really useful, and I now object to sitting in traffic with the engine burning my pounds needlessly!! Just wondering if the garage needed to reset the ECU or anything when they fitted the battery? the other thing I've noticed is that previously when starting the engine, I had to put my foot on only the clutch to start. Now I have to put my foot on both the clutch and brake to start - not a problem, but just wondered if they're connected as that changed at the same time as the stop-start stopping working... It is a 2013 Ecoboost 125bhp model... Many thanks :-)
  3. Hi guys, So i've done it again. Bought a 1.25 fiesta in march (14 plate) now just gone and part ex'd it against a 1 ltr ecoboost (64 plate). Picking it up on Friday! The only question i have, what are people roughly spending on their fuel, and what are their avg mpg. I would also like to know your driving habits as it what roads. I've heard that it's brilliant on fuel however i would just like to see how much people are actually getting out of it. My road types vary for work. Will post some pictures when i've collected.   4. I've got a Fiesta Zetec 2006 with 45k on the clock. All is fine other than one thing, in a morning when it's cold, when you turn the key, the car stutters when it starts. Don't get me wrong it's not a 'major' issue but I'd ideally like to know what the problem is. It runs fine it's just as if it chockes for a few seconds before starting in the cold. Thanks in advance
  5. Desperate Tdi Owner

    Hi fellow owners, can someone please show or guide me to the light at the end of the tunnel. I have an 04 1.4 tdci that refuses to start. I initially had a leaking leakoff pipe I repaired it with new R clips rebuilt the covers etc but now the engine will not start have had to recharge battery twice trying to start, turns over great but not even a cough. Could I have damaged the injector loom as I only pulled it out of the way and not removed it. Or could it be the immobiliser as I used the Blue Master key instead of the key fob remote. I had read somewhere that it can play havoc with immobiliser. I did try to recode the key in the ignition turning it on and off quickly till it beebed then pressed both buttons. I thought about getting an ELM327 cable can someone confirm mine is OBD2. Waiting with baited breath in anticipation. Colin866
  6. Heater Stuck On Cold

    Hi All, Focus 2002 1.6 Ghia saloon Petrol. The temperature control knob was stuck on cold, I physically could not move it across to hot. I thought it might be a broken/seized/kinked cable but when I took the cable off at the knob and at the drivers feet I could see that it works fine. With the cable removed (red arrow below) I can see/feel that the little black knob it attaches to (green arrow below) is stuck and will not move. Does anyone know what I can try next. I've read elsewhere that the "Blend door" could be stuck. Anyone know where this is or how I can get at it to perhaps manually move it to warm? (It's getting pretty cold out now!). Should I try and remove the white piece in the picture below? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Focus Mk3.0 1.6Tdci Start/stop?

    Hi Guys Just recently got my car back from the garage after a clutch replacement. My Start/Stop is now not working as it did when it went in. I think they disconnected the battery as all my trip computers have reset. Any idea's on what I need to do to get this going again? Also, windows now don't go all the way down automatically with one touch of the switch. I think this will be an easy fix as it was on my vauxhall's but want to clarify the procedure for both of these. Cheers Charles

  9. hi everybody, i know this has been brought up 100's of times. I Drive a 2002 1.8 tddi focus and my heater doesnt work. in more detail, i first noticed it a few weeks ago when driving through france, it was 34 degrees and when i pullled into a services the fan was rad running for 3 or 4 minutes when i pulled up. i was thinking with the heat that is out there it must be getting hot, so when i left the services i dropped my windows and put on the hot air, which stopped working after a minute, and only came back at a services. Thermostat so i assumed it was a thermostat stuck open, so i changed it, problem seemed to go away but after a long drive it came back, fan running again when i came into a services, and no hot air..... this time it was 2 degrees outside, Airlock, Im thinking an airlock is in the system but i cant seem to find it, also my thermostat seems to be allowing hot water through it the whole time so maybe the new stat is screwed again. all help appreciated guys
  10. Heater Control Valve 03?!

    If anyone could help I would appreciate it a lot!! 2003 mk6 Ford Fiesta will not stop blowing cold air, can't get any heat out of it at all, have no idea what's going on! In my old Ford Fiesta it was the heater control valve but apparently that is not the problem in the mk6?! Can anyone help?!

Hello everyone, I have a 2003 Ka with Duratec engine 1.3i For the last few days now the first start of the day is almost impossible and can take an hour or more - it turns over fine and 'almost' starts but normally takes as I say about an hour before it does, and then it runs like a bag of nails for 5 / 10 minutes. But then it runs spot on and starts first touch of the key all day - until the next day! I had a Ford breakdown mechanic out yesterday and he tested no end of things (no lights on dash by the way) and concluded that the coil pack was probably failing as he was "getting a spark but not when he expected". So I fitted a new coil pack yesterday and this morning it is exactly the same! ANY IDEAS????? Thanks!

    hi have a 04 streetka been doing some work on it for mot I think after battery removed and jump start my problem started. I get nothing when I try to start now when I turn ignition on abs & oil lights come on but I don't get ignition or battery light. thanks for any help
  13. Hi, Anyone experienced problems with the Hill Start Assist? Mine was working fine but now only works intermittently. It's definitely switched on in the settings, there are no error messages, and yet it no longer appears to be working. I'm not sure I particularly liked it in the first place and was going to switch it off, however my concern is that now its misbehaving, what else could be faulty... Car currently has only 800 miles on it, so under warranty.
  14. Hello , I have joined this club to ask for some help to find out what's wrong with my car . I bought a 55 plate 2.0l tdci 130 Mondeo about 7 months ago . It's a brilliant car but has caused me endless expense since owning it . I've now got to the point where no mechanic I talk to can figure out what's wrong with it . Within 3 weeks of having it the dmfw went , so I booked it in to be replaced , while it was there the changed the fly wheel , clutch , and some tensioner that was knackered too . When I collected the car I was pleasantly surprised that the engine was slightly quieter now. However it still does sound quite ropey . My main issue at the moment is when i start the car - cold or hot - it's takes 2 or 3 attempts to start , and when it eventually goes , it runs on 3 cylinders with the engine management light on , for about 10 seconds , then the light goes out , and the 4th cylinder comes into play !! Along with a nice plume of white smoke out the back . Also while driving it makes a horrible "pinking "sound occasionally . I've had the injectors reprogrammed to the ecu , and I've had it code read - there are no fault codes at all. I'm literally at my wits end and would really appreciate some advice.. Thank you
  15. Hello, new to the forum. Just a quick question I would like to ask to help with my sanity. I recently bought myself a lovely new 2015 Fiesta ST-3, 1500+ miles in the first two weeks of ownership, what a fun car! I've just taken it off to the garage to get the MP215 pack fitted, for some added fun. While it's in the garage I have asked them to take a look at the Stop/Start function as it seems to have stopped working. The garage has said to me that they don't believe that an ST comes with Stop/Start, but I could've sworn blind that the engine was cutting out when I was stopping at traffic lights etc... I am aware, from reading the manual, that the Stop/Start function will not work in Sport Mode & also it's a bit twitchy relating to various air-con settings, battery levels et al. (I tried all sorts of permutations & couldn't get it to work again). My main question is, am I going mad?! Does the ST or ST-3 come with Stop/Start or not? I am convinced I had it working for the first week or so of ownership, perhaps I'm so used to driving another little 1litre Ecoboost Fiesta that has Stop/Start, that it's thrown my brain off-kilter. It seems ridiculously hard to find any information online about the ST having Start/Stop. A few sites mention it, but mostly it doesn't seem to come up in various searches, most likely because it doesn't have Start/Stop;) Please help my sanity and settle this matter definitively, once and for all.   17. Hi guys, I've been searching for an answer to this but cant seem to get anywhere. Does anyone know how to reprogramme the key fob for a push button start Mk4 Mondeo? The fob will start the car, I just cant use the buttons to open or close the doors. It was warning of a low battery, but I've since replaced the battery. This is on a 57 plate Mondeo Titanium X. The normal key reprogramming trick of turning the key in the ignition so many times in 6 seconds wont work, as there's no ignition. The failsafe involves inserting the fob into where the ignition would be. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Pete
  18. hi to all i have a 1.6 focus petrol automatic zetec se .......i was driving home when i heard a rapid knocking sound from the engine that gets faster when accelerating and when slowing/stopping car idles irratic then stalls .......put 4 litres of 5w30 in.... now when trying to start dash and roof light go dim/off starter clicks once....tried jumping from another cars battery but leads got hot quick and i saw a tiny plume of smoke from middle of engine so.... is it wise to try and jump start again ? any idea about irratic idle and stall ? or what knocking noise is ? car wont start helpppppp....

    Hello i hope someone can help. I had my ac recharged to tthen be told i need a new compressor. After i got car home i had a little fiddle and have realised the clutch engages when tapped. But wont engage on its own. So i turnes car off alrayed with wd40 the turned car back on with ac still not engaging ao tapped again ledt car runnong woth ac on 10 minutes. Then turned off and left. Woke up this mornomg turned car on ac workong fime and clurch engages. Go for a drive and when i get back turn car off tirn back on clutch not engaging again. Any easy fix for this rather than buying a new pump.

  21. We have just got a 1.6 Grand C-Max titanium. I had understand that this model included Start-Stop but I cannot find any trace of it operating, and with just a blank panel where the 'A' button should be. Have I misunderstood. Does this model have Start-Stop?
  22. Starting Problems

    So now and again very rare I will go up to my escort mk6 1.8 ghia. And turn the key. There are lights on the dash and u get all power. However u don't hear the fuel pump cut in. Then you turn the key and there is no starter motor kicking in. U only hear a small click. Then more often not very. You are driving along and it just dies. Try turning it back on same happens as I I said up above no fuel pump no starter. Help Also inside the engine by the firewall the only way I can describe it is as a piston. It's a cylinder shape and a metal rod that gets pushed inside when the key is turned on to the ignition. However when the problem happens and you turn the key u get dash lights but that pistion dosnt push in. What is this piston
  23. I have had to purchase another remote for our Grand C-max, Not from main dealer. Can I reprogramme it myself or do I have to go to a main dealer. It is a keyless start and not keyless entry. When I have removed the cover off where the ignition barrel would be there is only a plastic holder without any slot for a key. The remote slides and latches in nicely though? Photos of key fob below. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards Rob
  24. Hi All Owned my S-Max 240 Ecoboost for a few months now and generally been fine. However yesterday my wife tried to start the car and took a while for it to turn over, then it vibrated a lot when it did start and Engine Management Light came on. She turned car off and then started it 10 mins later and it was fine and EML light went off. She tried to start it again this morning and it vibrated again on start-up and EML light remains on. She drove a short distance and started car up again and it was fine but EML light remains on. I will be taking it to the garage in next few days but any ideas what could be causing the start-up issue? Is it anything common with these engines? Thanks
  25. Start/stop Malfunction

    Hi, I've recently bought a 13 plate focus 1.0 ecoboost with stop/start but for some reason I can't seem to activate it. I have tried doing it with the engine at full temp, sufficient ambient temp, AC off, only the ignition on and a couple of other things. When I press the button on my control panel the light to say that it's deactivated stays on, I can't seem to get the light to go out at all. When the ignition is on and is doing its test cycle the stop/start light on my dash comes on so I know the button isn't just there as a gimmick. I was just wondering if there was anything else that I could try before I take my car back to ford? Any help would be massively appreciated! Cheers
