  1. Pleased to say that in the coming months I should officially be able to join Stoney's so called jammy beggars club! :P I have ordered a new 2015 Mk3.5 Focus ST-3 2.0 EcoBoost in Deep Impact Blue, with: Rear Privacy GlassHeated Steering WheelPremium Nav with Sony speakers & Sub.Rear View CameraDriver Assistance PackIt is a factory order, so I do have a bit of a wait, the car is currently scheduled for an unspecified September build, but reading about the delays with the ST (particularly ST-3), hopefully I will get it before my car is 1 yr old and needs taxing and servicing, at least before Christmas! As some of you will know, I was incredibly frustrated with the apparent "design-intent" of the 1.5 EcoBoost I bought last year, so much so I have dubbed it the EcoRattle. After months of trying to get the issue resolved, I have managed to come to an agreeable resolution for changing the car, as I just cannot live with the turbo rattle. I'm still going to loose out a bit financially, but at least I am getting an upgrade out of it. Test drove one a few weeks ago, and now I can't wait to get my own :D Should look like this: https://youtu.be/RUIwO11kV34 Updates Arrived at dealers: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/73233-new-2015-mk35-st-ordered-goodbye-ecorattle/?p=533167 Collection day: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/73233-alexp999s-mk35-focus-st-3-ecoboost/?p=533876
  2. I am wondering if it's possible to plug my smartphone into the radio to play music through the car stereo, and still be able to use the steering wheel controls. Please see pics for stereo. It's the one with CDDJ and NOT Aux.
  3. Ivor

I have had power steering trouble on a few occasions recently. At start up no steering assistance for a short time. My car is 2011 Focus Zetec 1.6  Is there a technical service bulletin on this, or is this an indication of steering rack failure soon. The car has only 36000 miles. Any help with this.
  4. Well today has had me pretty much finally snap with my dealer after a 3 month battle with them over reversing sensors on my ST.   Basically when I went to pick the car up I noticed that the sensors were the complete wrong colour for the car, my car is Spirit Blue and they'd used Deep Impact Blue instead on the sensors, so this had the car going in a week in for a day to have them re-painted, with the excuse that they didn't have any paint available at the time and they had to paint them in something. Seemed like an odd excuse but fair enough no argument.   So I go to pick up the car and notice the paint is still not right, this time the excuse was that they couldn't get the paint mix correct and would have to have it back again so they could have another go, unhappy at this but fine whatever, I'll give them one more go (third time lucky or something I hoped...). So back it went again to have this re-done and guess what, STILL not a good match on the bumper colour, to which the service manager wanted my car for a week for them to do the job properly which I was hugely against because it was obvious they were going to flash it in to the bumper leaving me with an effectively 'repaired' bumper.    So this was the third time this car had been in now, and the next time it went in I said the sensors needed looking at because they had never worked properly and they beeped continuously whilst in reverse, it also needed checking for an engine fault after going into limp and showing the service light. They said there was nothing wrong with the sensors (or the engine which is no surprise). So I went away annoyed, and then all of a sudden next day the same thing with the sensors happens again and so once more it gets booked in.    It is this time that finally they find that the sensors don't work, however it took me taking the car back, going into the car park and doing the fault myself that they finally admitted there was an issue - their technician that morning found nothing wrong somehow. So after making 2 trips in the same day they finally found the fault, which marked the end of visit number 5.   Visit number 6 should have been the best, they replaced everything with the sensors and found 2 were faulty at lower voltages (i.e. when cold), so I went to my bumper and actually felt like smacking my head off the floor. Some absolute buffoon had used a screwdriver to remove the sensors and the paint was chipped and bits of plastic had been gouged out from the bumper. So this leaves us now onto visit number 7 which they were to inspect it and get it booked in to be repaired and the service manager was taking this on personally; but somehow he decided to listen to his technician who said some touch-up paint would sort the issue out, and he never looked to see. So I get back and even though I didn't expect it repaired, was beyond words that the same person who damaged the bumper tried to fob me off with touch-up paint; sure it was no longer showing bare plastic but it still had lumps missing out of the bumper at each sensor point.   So by this point Ford have had my car for 8 days in total, when the service manager says enough is enough, leave the car with them for a week and they will get it to the body shop to have the repair done properly once and for all, as well as look at the engine as the light had been on again and gone into limp mode. This was this Monday just gone. I ring up on Wednesday as I was told there was a chance that the car may be ready by mid-week but leave it with them until the Friday in case; I was told the car is in Burnley where the body shop is. Oh no, I get a phone call this morning apologising that they would need it another week as the car had been sat in their car park since Monday and had gone nowhere as the body shop had been too busy to do my car, at which point I went practically nuclear and told them under no circumstance does that car leave the dealership at all. My dad rings them too to find out what the heck is going on and finds that at 3 (baring in mind I told them at half 10 not to move the car) the car is now on it's way to the body shop, so we go down when I finish work for half 3 smelling one huge rat. So now, after the car has been down there for 5 days (bringing it to a total of 13) they're going to want it for 10 next time, as the engine fault hadn't been looked at and the paint hasn't been done, so 5 for the paint and 5 for the engine fault. It's now booked in for next Monday so I spend yet another stint with a courtesy car that is absolutely horrible; it's a 1.0 Ecosport that is more expensive to run than my ST...   But wait I hear you say, surely there's more?!   You'd be right! The car is brought back to me this evening as the mechanic who had dropped it off had to go get it back and there was the rat, sat on my left front wing - a nice group of scrapes and scratches, along with chips on the bumper nearby. That is why the car was sent off to body shop in such a hurry hoping I'd keep the God awful courtesy car for God knows how long more instead of getting the car back. Got the service manager on the phone (who must have been happy seeing he was at home) and he said, 'Oh we'll paint it when it's in the body shop.'   Now that is the end of the story as of now, but I'm not leaving it all just to get sorted and then let it go. I'm not happy whatsoever that by the time it's finished, if it's finished next time, I'll have had the car for 3 months and the car has been with the dealer for 23 days of that time, so almost a third. As well as this, I'll have a repaired rear bumper, front wing and front bumper because of them damaging it after I have taken delivery because of their incompetence. I'm going to be writing to Ford about this, but do you guys think perhaps contacting trading standards as well? I love the car don't get me wrong, it's amazing, but the service I've had after buying it is beyond shocking. I can't fault the salesman as he's always been great (our family has had now 5 cars from him and soon to be 6th), and the people on the service desk are great too as when I've dealt with them they've always been upfront and honest about things, but beyond that desk Jesus Christ...   I know I don't probably get worst dealership experience ever here, but it's quite the shocker for sure... Will upload pictures tomorrow of what I can :P
  5. Bluetooth installation

So I want bluetooth installed on my Ford Fiesta Edge, 62 plate. I'm just sick of trailing wires and having to find the AUX cable all the time, i want to just get in, select a song and then go, and do everything through the car and not have to pull over and answer a call. I've looked at the parrot things & i don't really want to get one as it's separate from the actual car and i've have to mess around hard wiring stuff in, not what i want. So does anyone know if it's possible to get bluetooth installed as if it was factory fitted? Also where I could get it done? If not what other options do I have. I'm based in Manchester too if that helps. Thanks :)
  6. hello I am looking into putting a new bumper on the front and back of my 52 plate focus and I want to know can u put the mk2 bumpers on the mark one face lift ??????
  7. After driving my Focus MK2 for over 6 1/2 Years it was time for something new. Of course it had to be a Focus MK3. Unfortunately there were only a few (very young, low mileage) used cars for same in the country which met my requirements. After a long search and even considering a brand new lower spec car I finally found a suitable replacement for my Focus MK2: 2013 Focus MK3 5-doors Champions Edition My car is a German spec Focus MK3 Champions Edition. Because of the Ford sponsorship of the Champions Leage in 2013 Ford Germany offered this special (limited) edition for a few months. My car has the following options: Engine: 1.0 ECOboost 125 PS with 6-speed manual transmission. Color: Midnicht Sky metallic. Interior: Ultimate/Lux / Charcoal Black Options: Front and Rear Parking Sensors. Active Park Assist. Active City stop. Powerfold Mirrors. Power 1-shot Up/Down Front & Rear Windows. Global opening/closing (remote control) Rear Privacy Glass. Dual Zone Climate Control. Heated Windshield. Heated Washer jets. Heated Seats. Start/Stop System. Rain Sensor. Light Sensor. Front Fog Lights. SYNC with APPlink. DDS Tyre Deflation Warning System. Hill Start Assist. The car did have 16 inch alloy wheels as standard but because I like my own 17 inch alloy Focus MK2.5 wheels a bit more I decided to install my own wheels instead of the original 16 inch alloy wheels. In my opinion these wheels look great on the Focus MK3. During winter I drive on a set of 15 inch steel Focus MK2/MK2.5 wheels with Goodyear Ultragrip winter tyres. Despite 15 inch wheels were officially never available for the European Focus MK3 they fit without any problems on the 1.0 ECOboost models. The 1.6 TI-VCT and 1.0 ECOboost versions have 278 mm front disc brakes. This is exactly the same disc size as the Focus MK2/MK2.5 versions which were available with 15 inch wheels. On other Focus MK3 engine types Ford used bigger brakes which require at least 16 inch wheels. My Focus MK3 did originally not have Cruise Control. Cruise Control was not a standard feature on the German spec Champions Edition. Strange enough the first owner did order all possible options which were available on the Champions edition except Cruise Control. Because I am used to have Cruise Control and I really miss it I decided to retrofit Cruise Control to my car. There are some aftermarket solutions to retrofit Cruise Control to a Focus MK3 but personally I do not want an extra stalk or aftermarket buttons. So I decided to retrofit the OEM Cruise Control system. Because I could not find a mint condition replacement Cruise Control steering wheel for my car I decided to modify my own steering wheel instead of buying a new one. In my opinion it looks very good. The Cruise Control switch fits perfectly into the cutout I made at the side of the steering wheel. The Cruise Control switch is a very snug fit and all edges line up perfectly. The steering wheel does look exactly the same as an original Cruise Control steering wheel. From the outside there are no visible differences. I wrote a guide about retrofitting Cruise Control to a Focus MK3. This guide can be found on the following weblink: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/tutorials/article/274-retrofitting-original-cruise-control-on-a-focus-mk3/ After a few weeks I really missed the HID lights I had in my previous Focus MK2 so I decided to install new headlights. After a long search I decided to buy a pair of Sky Wing projector headlights. http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y388/ford_focusMK2/DSC04006_zpsf2e7014f.jpg I installed a 4300K HID kit into the Sky Wing headlights. The light image and the light output are very good and the Sky Wing headlights look great. Next I decided to install DRL lights. I bought these lights from a Taiwanese seller on the AliExpress website. The DRL lights are made of high quality materials and look very good. Some time ago I found some illuminated rear bumper reflectors on Ebay. However the price was ridiculous so I decided to wait a little longer. A few weeks later I found the same reflectors in an internet auction. I made the seller an offer and bought the reflectors for a really good price. The illuminated rear bumper reflectors look really nice. The light output is about the same as the original taillights. I also made the following modifications to the car: * The "Focus" and "Econetic Technologies" badges removed from the tailgate. * The "Champions League" badges removed from the B-pillars. * Rear seat hinge covers installed (originally used on a focus MK1.5). * I installed front and rear Titanium interior lights with LED lights and reading lights. Because of the different wiring/connectors I made an adapter wiring loom to connect the Titanium interior lights to the standard wiring loom. * I installed the original footwell lights. I changed the red LED's to ice blue LED's (same color as original). * I changed the red/orange control lights of all switches to ice blue LED's (same color as original). * I changed the 3.5 Inch monochrome MFD display to a 5 inch Sat Nav colour display. Afterwards I retrofitted the complete OEM Sat Nav system. * I installed LED bulbs into the puddle lights. * K&N 57S air filter. This Year I plan to do some more modifications on the car. The next modifications are on my wish list: * New instrument cluster with a bigger display. * New OEM rearview camera.
  8. Hi New to this Forums so apologise if this is not correct to put on here. My Wife purchased the new shape Focus Zetec S with Sat Nav in May 2015, We noticed straight away that the display in front of the driver giving the directions for the sat nav is not in sync with the main Display Mainly on roundabouts it will try and send you off the wrong turning and even down one way streets. I contacted my Main Dealer by phone explaining the fault to which i was told that this is a known fault with some cars and waiting for an update could take a few weeks. Well 4 weeks later i contacted them again but still no update, i contacted Head office who are also aware of the fault but again cant give me a time scale of when the update will be available. We feel a little annoyed that the car was sold knowing that the Sat Nav has a known fault and when speaking to head office i get told 'No Comment' when i asked if its right that the car should of been sold to us and are they still selling the cars with the fault on them? I wondered if anyone else has had the same problem as we have? Also if buying the same be aware of a known fault Cheers Chris
  9. Which DashCam?

Guys. I'm wanting a DashCam but I have no idea where to start.  I want something that can hide behind the rear view mirror with no cables exposed.  Something that will either record all of the time/when parked up.  I'm not sure if it's possible to have one that records constantly, but I've read somewhere that there is something called parkmode? I'd like to spend less than £150?  Guys. Any advice? Suggestions? Links?  Many thanks in advance. Cookey.
  10. Right I've just bought a SUB for my fiesta it's a FLI Trap single sub 1200watts i was wondering if it would wire into my head unit or will i have to buy a new head unit from halfords? Also where can i get Mk7 radio pullers from so i can remove my head unit.  Cheers Ben_140
  11. My 2013 ford fiesta 1L ecoboost's start stop isnt working, the button to turn it on and off just stays illuminated when pressed, you can turn the light off when the ignition is on but as soon as you start the car the light comes on and you cannot turn the light off, and therefor the start stop isnt working.  any advice  thanks
  12. Dear All! First of all, thanks for your time reading my first post! I've been searching for in the web for a solution of the following issue. For this, I think it will be better to tell all the history and procedures I made. 1 - I had a 2010 Focus Mk 2,5 Ghia equipped with the Visteon c307 radio. I've used the bluetooth audio to listen music for a while, with no problem. The quality and volume loudness was similar to USB, Radio and CD functions. I was using a Motorola XT1097 to play songs. 2 - Now I have a 2011 Focus Mk2,5 Ghia. Equipped the same stereo. At my first BT connection, the volume was terrible. I was using it on 15 to reproduce similar to 7 on USB. I've downloaded an app to the celphone (Bluetooth Volume) and the problem have been fixed. Although, the volume is the same with other mobiles. 3 - I've broken my phone and bought a new one, same model and Android version. Now, neither the app is working to fix it. I've also tried with an old Nokia phone and a New Iphone 6, none of then presented a satisfactory volume level. 4 - I've updated my bluetooth firmware to 3.30-5, nothing happened to improve it. 5 - Also, my stereo sometimes initiate the voice control by itself and bug the face buttons if I use the steering wheel control. 6 - Using volume booster apps, I have noticed that the sound receive the music loud, and holds the volume. Seem to be a "no clip" function. I have already tried to disable it on the Menu, but it didn't make any difference. Also, changed the EQ, it was properly setted to User. Do you guys have any idea to fix the volume? Thanks in advance and best regards!
  13. UPDATE 19/01/2015 - I started this thread specifically for my sub enclosure. From there it grew into a general ICE thread. It's now turning into a general thread about mods/maintenance to/on my car. I also have topics on; Fiesta mk6 HID Retrofit - This topic shows how to fit Facelift head/tailights to a pre-facelift Fiesta mk6. It also explains how to install Bi-xenon projectors and HIDs without hurting the bank. I hope you enjoy reading, and subscribe to stay up to date! _______________________________________________________________________________ Few images of my custom sub box build... Just want to note now that I'm not building this box with competition specs in mind.. It's simply built to 1.) take up as little boot space as possible whilst 2.) providing more bass than the stock speakers. I'll be upgrading the rest of the audio in the car in due time! Just want to show off my amazing test of the box with a 6.5" "sub" although my box was designed for a 10" :) I'm using 12mm MDF and some strips of Ply to build my box. I'm also gluing all the joints with No Nails & Screws to make it as solid & airtight as possible. More pictures to follow once my sub, amp & carpet arrives! Fire away with any questions
  14. Mk2.5 fitting cruise control

I'm thinking of fitting CC to my focus and I've seen some steering wheels on eBay and just wondered if they were the right ones ano wondered if ford dealers activated it or not, the links below are of the steering wheels I have found if anyone has any advice or tips that would be great, thanks :)  http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/301866028862  http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/111872166314
  15. New badges fitted!

Finally got round to fitting my white badges. ST spoiler going on this week and then going to get alloys toward the end of the month. Car's slowly coming together :D What do you think of the badges?
  16. Hi there,  I bought a 2005 Mk II Ford Focus not long ago and I have just realised that the only speakers that are working are the one in the front passenger seat door and the two little speakers above the dashboard. That leaves the driver door speaker, and the two rear door speakers not working.  I pulled the radio out and had a quick look in the back and it looks like everything is connected properly... I have also checked that the balance is not set to 0 so I dont think it is the radio settings.  Any advice as to what I should do next?? Seems unlikely to me that all three connections are loose at the speaker end...
  17. Hi all, new to this site as I have just bought my first Ford!  OK so its a really old 2000 Focus but that's what I could afford. I have had to do some small bit of work to get it past the NCT but I am now looking at fixing an annoying central locking issue.  There is no remote locking on this model it is just the standard torch key type key.  When you lock/unlock from drivers door, the central locking does not work at all it only unlocks the drivers door.  However on passenger door it is very intermittent.  In the 1 month I have owned the car, it must have worked about 3 times unlocking all  doors from passenger side. Its so annoying because I now have to take the key out of the ignition every time to open the boot as the release button does not work when the central locking is not operational and I have to manually unlock all doors from inside for passengers. I suspected the fuse at first as it was not working at all, but then when it worked intermittently from passenger door I discounted that.  Is there anywhere I can start to fault test on this?  It must be a sensor or switch somewhere that is not working.  I am not even sure if the alarm works because the "double locking" does not seem to work as per the manual and there are no flashing lights when I lock the door, although the tiny internal red light flashes after locking up. Any advise is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
  18. Please bear with me on this one. Until this week I haven't heard of a DPF. My last car was a 2010 1.4tdci Fiesta Edge, fitted with a DPF. My journeys mainly consist of trundling around town with the odd motorway run. And I had the Fiesta for 2 years and 8 months, and the only problem I ever had with that car was the rubber seals around the fuel injectors. There was not any other single fault. 2 months ago, I bought a 2009 1.6tdci Focus econetic. Reasons being i can't afford to run a petrol car with the cost of fuel and tax. And early this week, whilst doing around 60mph the engine lost a lot of power, and on the dash all that was displayed was "Engine Malfunction". I had no prior warning about this. So took it to my local mechanic, and he explained the issue, and cleaned it and now all is well. So I've done some reading about DPF's, and 9/10 people are saying to stay away unless you're on the motorway often, which makes sense considering how a DPF burns off the soot. But I'm a little confused/worried. My previous fiesta had 50,000 on the clock when I bought it, and I changed it at 60,000, and I never had a problem with the DPF. And this focus has 86,000 on the clock. So, what I would like to know, is, 1) Did I get lucky with the fiesta? 2) How long can a DPF go without cleaning just driving around town? 3) Will me taking it onto the motorway for 20 mins clear the filter? 4) If so, how often would I need to do a motorway run? Also, I have read that to begin burning off the soot in the DPF, the engine revs need to be around 2,500rpm. Which is a slight issue, as the other night on the motorway for about 3 miles, at 70mph in 5th, the engine revs only hit 2,000rpm. So, only hitting 2,000rpm even on a motorway, does that indicate that I have an "active regeneration", as opposed to a "passive regeneration'? I'm aware fundamentally, I've made an error in buying this car, I only buy diesel to keep the cost down, with tax and fuel. I'm just wondering, will everything be ok, if I take it for a high speed run say every 2 weeks? After discussing this with my father, he is under the impression that, I didn't have a problem with the fiesta, so it's likely that you will generally be problem free with the focus. After paying £200 for the DPF clean, I'd like to help the engine/filter as much as I can, I also have to consider, that I have no idea how the car was treated by the previous owner. Any help/advice is appreciated.
  19. IF

IF,  note big IF I get the job position I've applied for my mileage is going to go from near nothing to approx 75-80 miles a day, so I'm thinking of changing my petrol 125ps tit x fiesta for a focus if needs be Few questions though, what spec to go for ? I've toyed with the ST3 but tbh it'd be a waste, so I'm more thinking the normal specced cars. What does each spec really offer? Is the better mpg really present for a diesel against a ecoboost petrol?  What are the downsides to a diesel?  As I'll be honest in all my years of driving, apart from the odd van for 5 minutes, I've never really driven one, not to get used to their quirks at least anyway Help me
  20. Hi I have a ford fiesta ghia 1.4 5d 53 plate and I am wondering if it has a belt or chain and when it will need chaining. It has 70,000 at the moment. Cheers
  21. What should I look out for?

Hi all Just about to finally pick up my first Ford on Monday, it's a 12-plated Focus Titanium 1.6 diesel. Ideal for me and my small family. As I'm new here I'm just wondering if there's any tips, ideas, advice, or anything worth knowing about the car - Quite a vague question I know, but anything you guys can tell me would be of benefit and greatly appreciated.   Thanks in advance Jody
  22. Hello all :)

Proud owner of Ford C max 2010, 1.8 tdci, hope to have a lot of nice memories with it . Regards from Sarajevo,  Mihael
  23. Hello!

Hey guys First-time Ford owner here (as of this Monday) from deep in the South Wales valleys! Picking up a 12-plate Focus Titanium 1.6 diesel (115), ideal for my family and looking forward to it being part of some great memories for us just as my 06-plate Clio (don't laugh!) has been! I've had a quick browse through the forums and some of the things you guys do to your cars, your knowledge, your experiences, I'll enjoy reading them, interesting to say the least!! Hopefully I'll chat with a few of you over time!
  24. A few months back, my 10 reg Focus 1.6Tdci went into turbo overdrive, which I had to stop by stalling it. It was recovered to our local Halfords garage. They said too much oil in engine had bypassed seals and got into turbo with turbo then running on the oil. They dismantled the turbo system and cleaned it all out. Replaced filter etc. They had to fit a new CDPF which cost me an arm and a leg. They instructed me on how to drive it to regen the new CDPF, but that didn't work. They took it to the local Ford dealership who did a forced regen. Having got the car back, I noticed that at low revs in low gears (around 1100 to 1500 rpm in 2nd and 3rd), the engine would hesitate. I lived with this and the car behaved normally otherwise. However, just over a week ago, on the way to work, the alarm sounded and a message came up saying "ENGINE MALFUNCTION". I found that this reset by turning the engine off, but came back after driving again for about 15 or 20 minutes. Before I had chance to take to the Ford dealership, I had an extra fault arise with the little orange engine symbol lighting up. This didn't go away with restarting the engine, so I took it into the dealership. They managed to clear the orange engine light then suggested I took it for a drive to see if it was OK, but after about 20 minutes, the "ENGINE MALFUNCTION" message came up again. I took it back to the dealership for them to investigate. That was Tuesday, it's now Friday and they still haven't come up with an answer.
