I've had the car about 4 years & not really done much to it other than an EGR blank & servicing (until this week).  This week I decided it was time for a change, below is a list of what I've got done so far in the last 3 days: Wrapped as much of the front interior as I can (easier said than done for some parts) so that's: The 4 satin steel steering wheel trims Single DIN head unit fascia Upper centre console Gearshift fascia Handbrake fascia Foot well lower trims Lower centre console including the rear "cubby hole" Fitted a single DIN Sony head unit with Bluetooth Fitted the external mic & route the cable out of sight Fitted a new chrome & leather gearshift gaiter & surround Replaced the tatty black gear knob with a nice silver one from a Mondeo Replaced all the accessible interior lighting with "white" LEDs Replaced the number plate bulbs with "white" LEDs (integrated resistors because the previous set flickered like a B**CH) Replaced the brake & reverse lights with CREEs (hint the reverse lights now illuminate the kerbside like sidelights which makes parallel parking/reversing at night without clouting the alloys a whole lot easier) Replaced the main beam & side lights with nice "white" ones (side lights are LED) Replaced the single light bulb in the glovebox Replaced the single light blun in the boot with 3 "white" LED pads (I had to wire resistors to ensure there was enough load to stop them flickering, so they're not a bright as they were originally but at least now they won't give someone a epileptic fit!) Unfortunately I didn't think to take "before" photos although I'm sure everyone here knows what the inside of a MK2 looks like & how crap the standard "yellow" interior lighting is along with "real" wood effect plastic trim!! To get a bit of practice with the wrapping I bought some unbranded (cheap) carbon wrap on ebay & had 4 goes at the centre console before I was happy that I'd got half an idea what I was doing.  From Friday night onwards I've pretty much worked non stop on the car, I removed the entire centre console (head unit console, surround, gearshift fascia, handbrake fascia, footwell trims & the main centre console with the cup holders etc) & got to work wrapping.  The final wrap material I used is 3M 1080 which is what the wrapping specialists use & there is a MAJOR difference in quality.  If you're thinking of going for the carbon fiber vinyl look, once you've had a good practice with the cheap stuff, don't be cheap get the good stuff, it's even got the tactile finish to it i.e. it's not a flat print & is much more resistant to being overstretched.  Unfortunately it seems to be pretty much impossible to wrap the bottom centre console itself due it's shape (6 different wrapping specialist confirmed that they can't wrap it).  I'm really happy with the end result although I am thoroughly sick of the sight of carbon fiber wrap, lol!  I've still got the 3 screw covers for the foot well trims to wrap but that should only take 15 minutes or so (but not today). I replaced the rather poor Ford Transit style head unit with a single DIN Sony with Bluetooth & fitted the external mic with the cable routed out of sight but once again forgot to take pictures as I went along  (removing the front A pillar trim was a bit of pain but I managed it without breaking any clips so I'm happy with that) I've also replaced the brake & reversing exterior bulbs with CREE LED's & all the user accessible interior bulbs including the glove box light (i.e. not the SMDs in the door controls etc) with "white" LED's (I'll take pictures tonight of the lights - & yes I know the car needs a good wipe down/vacuuming)  I'm really happy with things so far.  I've also removed my EGR blank & booked in for a Terraclean on Thursday so i'll be sure to post back with the results.  My plans for 2-3 months time when I get my annual bonus are: 2 new front wings (rust bubble central) New mud flaps all round Strip back both sills to the metal Colour code the fog light front bumper strips Respray for the bonnet, wings, sills (all the way up to door seals) & all 4 doors so hopefully I should have nice "shinee" front end. On an unrelated note I can thoroughly recommend Nokian Weatherproof tyres for snow & wet weather driving (Auto Express weren't wrong when they rated them 100% for snow/rain).  I had 2 fitted on the front in January for the MOT & I've given them a thorough thrashing in the recent weather, despite the big heavy lump up front (the engine not me)  the front end has a lovely positive turn in, even in heavy rain.  Not something I could say about the Chinese "ditchfinders" I had on previously.  Feel free to comment, any suggestions etc are very welcome, if I can give anyone else any help I'll be more than happy to.
  2. Engine revving

    I have 2004 Ford Ka, 1.3   engine is revving by itself when idle. engine management is on. engine sounds like its struggling to breath (intermittent)   once I drive the car, it can drive steadily without my foot on the accelerator!!.diagnostics suggested 02 sensor. been advised to put fuel treatment in it the car is getting a little unnerving to drive at times    
  3. Mk2 fiesta gear linkage

    Okay so got a 1983 mk fiesta Ghia 1.1 doing a cvh conversion I have a mk3 1.6 escort engine and a xr2 gear box I'm under the understanding I can't use the 1.1 gear linkage but can't find a 1.6 gear linkage and I'm aware the later mk2 fiestas can use mk3 gear linkage but what is the best option do I modify the one I have or is there another gearlinkage I can get hold that will fit with little modification? 
  4. Hope this is the right place. My gear knob looks a little worn on my Fiesta. She is a MK5. Anyone any suggestions on a replacement? I would like a different one. Perhaps something like the MK6 gear knob. Not sure if that would fit though. Maybe you have a better suggestion?
  5. Hi Have owned a Fiesta ST3 for the last month, best car I've driven in 18 years of motoring. Got the Mountune Performance Pack fitted (MP215); makes an awesome car just that little bit more awesome...You'd be mad to not have it;) Now I'm starting to think, hmm, what next? I do like the look/sound of the Mountune Cat Back Exhaust, that's definitely on my list (sadly not in stock at the moment). If you have this exhaust fitted, would you recommend it? I am aware that the stock exhaust has to essentially be 'cut-off', which has me a little nervous, I'll be leaving that to a garage methinks... I'm also thinking of getting the Mountune High-Flow Induction Hose (a nice red one). Looks very easy to fit and, if the claims are to be believed, makes first to second gear & general power delivery that little bit smoother. Being somewhat of a newbie to modifying cars, I am wondering if I will be able to fit this hose easily. I know my way around some basics, but an online video makes it look like I could cope quite easily. Sadly, at the moment, they don't have the hose clips in stock, but I'm sure they will soon. Again, anyone got this hose fitted & would they recommend it? Thanks for any advice. Chris
  6. I want to check the washer is connected correctly and look at the seal, then disconnect and dry the high level brake level light out as water inside. I noted there are two grommets (mine were missing) but got 2 from a Fiesta. Removing the grommets do I just push through the hole with a screw driver to release each side, and does it clip and push back in easily. Don't want to begin without being sure...you know what happens, it won't go back in and you drive around at xmas with it blowing in the wind!
  7. Hi, I have a serious problem with my 2009 ford focus 2.0 tdci duratorq durashift gearbox. The car stood for 3 months while waiting for funds to do repairs to the diesel pump. I towed the car to a workshop and they got it started for me after much bleeding of the fuel line. But now the car won't go into gear, it can go into neutral and park, while in neutral you can move it. The problem is it will not select a gear forward or reverse.The workshop says that the selector shaft is stuck and they will have to pull the gearbox and strip it, now this will run high in costs and I need to find out before they pull and strip if there is anything I can do first to try solve this problem. I thank you in advance for any advise you give.
  8. Hi all, I have a Ford Fiesta 2003 1.4 Durashift Automatic, the car has issues with 3rd gear. When driving the car will shift into 3rd gear but there will be no bite, almost like the car is in neutral. As you are driving the car will shift into 3rd but then you end up reving to the red line and there is no power. If you let off the gas and let the revs goes down the car will shift into 3rd gear and continue as normal. The issue only happens occasionally. Can anybody offer any advise on how to resolve this issue? Thanks!

Hi wondering if anyone could give me some advice as to the problem I've recently put the wrong fuel in ie high octane on my 02 reg fiesta and is now misfiring I think it may have blown a spark plug I'm wondering if anyone could confirm or give me any of cause or advice to what it is or to resolve
  10. Hoping for a little help; after 6 weeks in a petrol focus and an awful lot of customer service errors the garage changed my car for the above focus. It's a 15 plate so 6 months old, ex demo and has the appearance pack (I believe is the tinted windows) I'm clearly paying a bit more for it than the petrol (£15,150 vs the £12,950 petrol) which was a 64 plate eco boost navigator. Anyhow I've noticed a couple of things that I'm unclear on..... It has auto headlamps and yet the auto high beam feature appears to be not working or is missing? - on the steering wheel computer I go to settings and where lighting is the auto high beam is not listed. (And it doesn't work on a test at night unlit road etc....) It also has ambient lighting but the overhead console is missing the controls for changing the colour.... Again on the computer I can turn this feature off and on but I thought if I have ambient I can also control the colour etc.... And I also came across a thing about the car having a parking camera as standard on the titanium? I've got auto parking and sensors back and front but no camera? Is this right?? Really hoping someone is out there who is an expert on the titanium and can offer some advice? I'm really not keen on complaining (yet again) but it feel that since I am paying for all this I should have it!? And I'd like to go in armed with the correct info -and not end up looking like a tit! :) The car also has press button start (but oddly not keyless entry-odd I thought as the fiesta has this!) and cruise control and rain sensitive wipers.   11. Hi Everyone, I own a 2010 Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCI. I have a very annoying rattle which comes from the gear shift cable. I have taken all of the housing off from my gear stick and gear cable and there doesn't seem to be any rattling there. I think the gear cable has been knocked off a clip in the engine bay when my car has been in the garage and thus causing the cable to rattle against a clip. Could someone please tell me where any clips are which hold the gear cable in place or if you believe the problem is something else! It is driving me mad!!

    Hey Guys, Noticed on my 2006 Fiesta after about 15 miles my gears become very difficult to change. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there an easy / cheap way to fix it? Cheers

Hi, after reading these forums I decided to go for a ford focus as my first car, covering the most common faults I was glad that mine didn't have any of them :) but now owning the car for 3 months... I have a problem which is driving me nuts, its hard to get into 1st gear. When it doesn't go in first I have to press the clutch down again and it goes in/or when i fully stop then it just goes in (without even the need to repress the clutch down). Note, that was a bit of clunking noise when releasing the clutch (past the biting point) when I just bought the car which doesn't happen anymore, so i'm thinking it was just because I was a new driver and was getting to the biting point. Recently Its either in my head or its just getting more annoying to shift through gears, their a bit stiff and not as smooth as they should be. Car: 2006 mk2 ford focus, petrol, 1.6 and close to 100k. Problem: Hard to get in 1st (without depressing clutch again, when downshifting obviously) Other notes: clutch isn't slipping, but I do have to press it fully down (right to the floor) to disengage the clutch There is crunch when switching to reverse Has anyone experienced this before?   14. Hi, I have a 2006/56 plate Ford Fiesta 1.2, style. I've had it a few months, with no major dramas. Today however in, low revs (1st gear) about 1200 -1500 RPM I felt the car shudder, as I was lifting of the clutch and giving it gas. I initially thought it was just some wheel spin, as it was raining quite heavy. Pulled onto the motorway, car accelerated with no issues, seems fine. Arrive at some lights and I get the same problem in first gear again, and all the way home at roundabouts etc. I'm really confused as to what it might be. I also noticed when parked, and left running in neutral, a gentle metal scraping/grinding sound can be heard coming from the back of the engine - could it be a transmission oil problem? But it selects gears just fine. Has anybody encountered this before? Apologies in advance if I left out any details,let me know if I you need more info! :) Thanks
  15. Fiesta St180 Gear Gaiter

    What up boiz, I've been looking at new gear gaiters for the fiesta st180 and the best/only option seems to be from redlinegoods, but they are an american company and the american fiesta ST doesn't have the silver trim around the gaiter and the base is a different shape than the the UK version. Dosent really look like it will be wide enough but has anyone tried one of these gaiters on a UK Fiesta?
  16. Hi My high level brake light lens and lamp holder has fallen out, and dangles by the wire. I've taken off the internal trim, but can't see how the lens and holder are supposed to stay / be fixed into the recess. Are there clips, missing, which hold the fitting in place? Thanks Bruce

  18. Hi was wondering if anyone could help me my 2006 1.6tdci focus has a intermittent fault on it, when driving along at speed the red gear with the ! Comes on. So pull over turn the engine off and then turn the engine on and light has gone out. Does anyone know what is causing this! I have replaced the gearbox oil and the EGR valve but the problem is still there I have had it on a code reader and the car isn't storing any codes. It also started fine in the cold.
  19. I've had my 56 Fiesta for about two weeks or so now (my first car), I love it! Only trouble is sometimes when I attempt to select the reverse gear, from first the car doesn't move. Reverse is definitely engaged as I can see the reverse light in my rear view, but as I release the clutch and give a little gas, there is no movement, instead it revs as if its still in neutral. Has anyone else experienced this or know of the cause? Thanks :)
  20. Hi, I have a late 2010 Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi, with a 6 speed box. It has a lift-up collar for selecting reverse. The other day, it would go into reverse, but wouldn't come out. I lifted the gaiter up, and found the round black plastic clip (plus a small piece of silver plastic inside it) that attaches the gear knob to the reverse selector had broken off. ​It is only a minor inconvenience, as I can just manually reach below the gear knob and pull the selector up when I want reverse, and it correctly disengages from reverse when I move the stick back to the right. However, whilst my car was in today for a different fault, I asked the garage to take a look. They are telling me you can't buy the clip separately, and have to buy the whole selector unit from Ford, at a cost of £220! Can anyone verify if this is true? I can't post a picture of the broken clip at present, as it's still in the car at the garage, but if you've ever had to lift the gaiter up it will be obvious which it is. The garage has always seemed to be honest with me in the past, but I find it hard to believe in this instance. If it is true, then shame on Ford for such blatant profiteering.

  22. Reached 120,000 Miles. What Now?

    My MK 6 Fiesta has served me well on my 70 mile round trip to work. But I have now managed 120,000 miles on a 9 year old car and am wondering how much more I will get out of the 1.25 engine. I get a small service ever year- it had a major service when i bought it two years ago, and I mainl do motorway miles in 5th gear. So realistically how many more miles can i expect from the little engine? It only had one owner before I bought it and was regurlarly serviced. Only issues have been thermostat replaced and recently It feels like it starts to lurch a little as i accelerate (could that be a coil pack issue) Other than that mpg is pretty good and the car still drives fine. Also, will the cambelt be due again soon, it was just done before I bought it at around 70,000 miles I think, what age / mileage would it next be due on a 1.25 fiesta zetec? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Hey guys, Just wondering, but how do I test my clutch? Recently, the bites been feeling quite high. I don't think my clutch has gone yet, as its not slipping but any ideas? The biting point i'd say is about 2 pound coins width from the pedal being fully released. Oh and when I shift gears, recently I've noticed the revs do go up a little, perhaps by 100- 200rpms? Note: When I travel, im always in stop-start traffic if that's of any significance.
  24. Mmt6 Gearbox, Lost 5Th

    Hi Gang I put this problem on Talkford a few weeks ago but didn't get much support so I'm hoping that someone on here has got a clue to what is wrong with my car. My car is a 2007, MK4 Mondeo Titanium X, TDCi 2.0 Diesel, manual gearbox, 140PS and 130k miles on the clock. For a few weeks I've been hearing a squealing sound whenever I'm in 5th gear, and only 5th gear. It's the kind of noise you hear from a train as it pulls up to a station, a high pitched metallic squealing. I was able to accelerate through the problem after a few seconds. It was like a very heavy/clunky automatic gearbox shake when it cleared. I've been living it because I couldn't figure out for certain what it was. I've suspected a vacuum hose split, vacuum solenoid sticky, turbo actuator sticking, gearbox oil needs changing all seem to lead to a dead end. 4th and 6th gear have no problem at all. Tonight, driving home I heard the squeal even before I put my foot back on the throttle, just as I lifted the clutch pedal. Now, I have no 5th gear at all. When attempting to select 5th gear now it's like selecting neutral, just no drive at all. I've spent hours searching online for anyone who's had a similar problem but can't find anything. It seems to me that the gearbox is knackered but I've never experienced such a rapid onset of a problem like this. I heard no crunching, whirring, grinding or anything unusual from the gearbox since I bought the car around 4 months ago. Only work I've had done is a new cambelt, aux belt, water pump (other side of the engine), air and oil filters and that's it. It's starts, runs and drives in all other gears perfectly. If anyone knows anything about these MMT6 gearboxes, I'd appreciate a suggest. Maybe a selector fork failed? I dunno. Cheers
  25. Hi everyone, Wonder if someone can help. I took my car into Halfords to change 2 tyres, tracking sorted and their free 15 point check, now when I went to pick it up I found that my gear stick had shifted to the right so reverse is where 1st was, 1st and 2nd are where 3rd and 4th was, 3rd and 4th are where 5th and 6th was and I obviously can't get into 5th and 6th as the gear stick won't go any further. It was late in the day last night so I'm taking it back later, on the phone they've claimed its a coincidence but I had no trouble what so ever with it before I took it in and the problem was there as soon as I jumped in it. Does anyone now what the problem could be and how it could have occured and whether they may have adjusted anything. It's a Ford Focus 2.0 TDCI (2006). Thanks all, Mark
