  1. Hi guys,  I'm basically looking to convert my windows from manual to electric on my Ford Fiesta 2003.  I've recently purchased the car only because the mileage is very low and thought it can last me a while whilst I save up for an upgrade.  I've seen some universal kits and even tutorials on how to fit this. The only issue I have is fitting it on is easy, however how would I be able to actually power them up?  Would it be easier just to buy new doors/cards? Then again the wiring is an issue, can a garage just connect them up?  I would leave it, however it's something I'd like to definitely invest some money (not enough to buy a car) and time in.
  2. Hello, I've made a bit of a mistake and driven hundreds of miles with my trolly jack and jack stands to my parents house with the intention of putting some new pads on my mark 7 ford fiesta (as they have garage space). However I've left my haynes manual at home which has all the torque specs and minimum disc thickness info. Could anyone on here be a real star and snap/ scan the page at the start of the brake section which has the torque specs and minimal disc thickness info? Thanks in advance, J

  4. Service Manual

Hello everybody, I'm Anthony from Croatia my dear wife was driving our Focus C-max 1.6 Tdci until she came in front of a huge puddle (60m long)....she stoped...and then decided she can drive through it. She was driving for 50 m very slowly and then the car when Dead. Yes the engine pulled water and it was water shocked. I cleaned everything, air intake, changed engine oil 2 times with filter. The engine started but it lost 30% of power and it makes white smoke in high rpm. So I need to open the engine, yes myself and my brother (we work with outboards and we own several cars so we have to maintain them as well to be able to keep them). I need a service manual for this engine or car model in order to continue. If anyone can help me I would be very gratefull and in return will place photos & descripitons of the work on the forum.
  5. After 80,000 fault-free miles in my 2010 Mondeo 1.8TD, catastropy struck at midnight last Sunday when I returned to a French underground carpark after leaving the car there for five days and found the battery wouldn't start the engine. Not uncommon for diesel batteries to fail 'instantly' but after the guardiene brought first a starter battery and then his own car and jump leads over - and it still wouldn't start - I noticed the screen had the words IMMOBILISER ACTIVE on it. And believe me, nothing worked. The car handbook was singuarly unhelpful, suggesting I try another ignition key and then contact my local dealer. I will draw a line over getting the car out of the underground carpark (no engine, no servo steering, no servo brakes) up to street level and onto a trailer to the tow depot, who promised to get it to the local Ford dealer next morning (which they did); the costs of getting home; and the costs of getting back to collect the car. But the bitterest pill was that the instructions for resetting the immobiliser, missing from the owner's handbook for the car, are on YouTube (four rapid turns of the ignition key within two seconds, withdraw key and push any button.) Had I known that I'd be 600 pounds better off today. Thanks, Mr Ford, for a design which triggers the immobiliser if the battery is below voltage, and for not telling the owner of the car how to reset it. IDIOTS !
  6. Air Filter Fitting Guides

Hello all, This is my first post. I've spent a lot of time researching this forum site trying to decide wether or not I should buy a K&N Panel or cone filter or a complete induction kit. I still can't decide... I own a MK5 fiesta zetec(-s?), 1999. First car and i've owned it for a little over 4 months now. I'm wondering if anyone has a guide to fitting an air induction kit please? Should I choose to purchase one, I'd like to know how to fit it in. I think I'm asking because there was discussions about finding your own cold air feed with an induction? Or cone I'm not sure... I understand the air filters don't add much power and to be honest, I'm not after much. It's also for the experience of getting my hands dirty in the engine bay and knowing how things work! Thanks for your help guys. P.s. I know there are numerous posts and topics about air filters but none of them give me the answer I'm looking for!

Thanks in advanced.
  9. Mmt6 Gearbox, Lost 5Th

Hi Gang I put this problem on Talkford a few weeks ago but didn't get much support so I'm hoping that someone on here has got a clue to what is wrong with my car. My car is a 2007, MK4 Mondeo Titanium X, TDCi 2.0 Diesel, manual gearbox, 140PS and 130k miles on the clock. For a few weeks I've been hearing a squealing sound whenever I'm in 5th gear, and only 5th gear. It's the kind of noise you hear from a train as it pulls up to a station, a high pitched metallic squealing. I was able to accelerate through the problem after a few seconds. It was like a very heavy/clunky automatic gearbox shake when it cleared. I've been living it because I couldn't figure out for certain what it was. I've suspected a vacuum hose split, vacuum solenoid sticky, turbo actuator sticking, gearbox oil needs changing all seem to lead to a dead end. 4th and 6th gear have no problem at all. Tonight, driving home I heard the squeal even before I put my foot back on the throttle, just as I lifted the clutch pedal. Now, I have no 5th gear at all. When attempting to select 5th gear now it's like selecting neutral, just no drive at all. I've spent hours searching online for anyone who's had a similar problem but can't find anything. It seems to me that the gearbox is knackered but I've never experienced such a rapid onset of a problem like this. I heard no crunching, whirring, grinding or anything unusual from the gearbox since I bought the car around 4 months ago. Only work I've had done is a new cambelt, aux belt, water pump (other side of the engine), air and oil filters and that's it. It's starts, runs and drives in all other gears perfectly. If anyone knows anything about these MMT6 gearboxes, I'd appreciate a suggest. Maybe a selector fork failed? I dunno. Cheers

  14. Hello, I have a 2004 Fiesta Finesse which has recently been showing signs of a faulty Slave Cylinder. I had the master cylinder replaced a few months ago when the clutch pedal dropped to the floor and would not return. I read about the clip that holds the rod in place with the pedal (it wasn't that). The car has been working ever since the Master Cylinder was changed and now I've lost all pressure my suspicions are that it was never the Master but the Slave. I recently bought a Vizibleed One Man Bleeding System from Halfords (£5.99) - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&productId=204703_en_gb&catalogId=10151#tab3 and have had a bit of success but lost pressure again. I used a brick to press down the clutch pedal all the way to the floor, opened up the slave cylinder bleed screw (Non tool requiring switch looking thing?), watched fluid enter the Vizibleed carton, closed the valve once no more fluid & air came out, then depressed pedal and repeated. Can someone please tell me how to use this device correctly? I feel like I'm doing everything wrong... Here's the method I've used in bullet point format : 1. Press pedal all the way to the floor, hold with heavy brick 2. Open up bleed valve and wait till fluid stops coming out 3. Close Valve 4. Release pedal back to up position 5. Press pedal to floor, hold with heavy brick 6. Repeat number 2 Is this correct? Am I meant to keep the reservoir cap off or on? Should the end of the tube that goes into the Vizibleed carton be immersed in fluid (it has a a ball bearing at the bottom to stop air coming back up in the line)? I am so frustrated as I got pressure back and then lost it.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!! M
  15. Hi all I have spent the last few months trying to get a fiesta 1.4 durashift semi auto back on the road and I am stumbling at the last hurdle!! I first went down the route of relying on someone else to repair my clutch actuator only to be ripped off to the tune of £130 (STEER WELL CLEAR OF ECU SOLUTIONS WALES). After being ripped off I decided to have a go at converting the car to a manual. I have sorted all the mechanical side and the wiring the car now starts and drives hurray!! The only problem that I now have is that the speedo does not work. The problem that I am having is that my car has abs and the speed is calculated from the abs sensors rather than a vehicle speed sensor. What I am after finding out is the pcm/ecu part number from a 2003/2004 1.4 duratec engined car with abs as the donor car that I got the ecu from did not have abs. MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE DANNY

  18. Engine/gearbox Compatibility?

Hi. So ive got a 1.8 mk1 focus zetec. The bottom end is rattling, hence; knackered. However, im looking to do an engine change. I've spotted a mint 2.0 automatic engine. Question is, will this fit straight up to my manual gearbox and is there any ACTUAL difference between a manual engine and this one that i need to be aware of? All help welcome.

  21. I have recently purchased a Ford Focus 1.4 CL (1999) T Reg. The car has manual central locking, although i would like to know if it is possible to adapt the car for remote central locking? Would be grateful if i could receive some help on whether i can do this, what i need for it and how much it would likely cost?
  22. Hello, I am looking for a complete walk through on turning my manual windows to electric. Currently my passenger window is being held up with Sellotape until I get a few days off to fix it, but I though I might aswell turn them electric while I'm at it. I've been told the wiring is probably already there, is that true? What do I need to buy? A full walk through on what I need to do? And any hints and tips? Thank you :)
  23. Stupidly I left the car a 2006 Ford focus unlocked someone opened it up and took various bits & pieces including the owners manual & service history booklet - can they use these to get a key made?
  24. I've just bought a second hand 1999 Fiesta Ghia 16v 1242cc Petrol car but unfortunately the previous owner lost the owner's handbook. I've tried the Ford UK site using the VIN number to no avail and so far all I've found online is the Haynes 'Ford Fiesta Service and Repair Manual: Petrol and Diesel 1995-2002.' I'd really prefer thel Ghia owner's handbook specific to my model but after spending a couple of hours online I'm not holding out much hope that I'll be able to find one - unless anyone here has any ideas? Many thanks!
