  1. Apologies in advance for the length of this post but there are a lot of issues to resolve and I’d really appreciate some advice, guidance and comments. This is my 2006 Focus Zetec Climate 2.0, Eve. I want to fit an ST body kit and get her looking fabulous once again. I got her in July 2006 with 6,000 miles on the clock, in seemingly immaculate condition. She’s now done 62,000 miles and is looking a little battered and bruised but is a great car, mechanically sound and very reliable. Here’s a tour of her various issues… The front bumper took a nasty wack and also has some scuffing on the corner: Options to fix: replace with either a new or salvaged ST bumper. The bonnet has a weird dent on the right hand ridge and four rusting stone chips: Options to fix: get it repaired by a body shop or replace with a salvaged bonnet. We had a fight with a multi-storey car park. We lost. The rear passenger side door is a mess: Options to fix: get it repaired by a body shop or replace with a salvaged door (I’d need to retain my current trim and speaker). The rear wheel arch also took some of the pain: Options to fix: get it repaired by a body shop. I reversed into a stupid hand rail in a hospital car park and created this lovely dent: Options to fix: replace with a salvaged tailgate (I think the dent is too close to the edge for a body shop to easily rectify). The rear bumper has a little scuff too: Options to fix: replace with either a new or salvaged ST bumper (I need to retain the reversing sensors). The rear pillar has some deterioration to the paintwork which has become gradually more apparent over the last few years. I guess there was a small touch-up job done here prior to me owning the car: Options to fix: get it repainted at a body shop or do nothing. The rear driver’s side door has two nasty stone chips, the one by the door handle has dented the panel. Options to fix: get it repaired by a body shop or replace with a salvaged door (I need to retain the trim and speaker). As additional issues, I’d like to replace the standard spoiler with an ST, add side skirts (which may cover up some of the damage to the wheel arch) and tidy up my wheels – I’m contemplating getting them painted black rather than replacing them. As I’ve been thinking my way through this project I think I’ve come to the conclusion that I should get the car vinyl wrapped. This would help with a number of the above issues and (as long as I had neat panels underneath) would give the car an “as new” appearance. I think my plan should be as follows: 1 - get quotes from a body shop for repair prices for the wheel arch, doors and bonnet. If I’m wrapping then paint finish isn’t important, I just need clean, dent free panels. Any recommendations of body shops in North London, Herts, Essex? 2 – source replacement parts that can’t be repaired economically in stage 1. Parts I may need: bonnet, 2 x rear doors, tailgate, ST front bumper and grille, ST rear bumper, ST spoiler, ST side skirts. If I wrap the car, it doesn’t matter so much what colour the replacement parts are… my gut feeling is that I should go for black doors and tailgate and worry less about the rest. I assume using salvaged parts would be considerably cheaper than new, can anyone give me a rough guide as to what I should expect to pay. Where are the best places to find parts? 3 – fit it all. I’m a proficient DIYer but not experienced with fiddling around with cars. I’ve got a decent tool kit and a Haynes manual, what can go wrong? From what I’ve researched so far I think I should be able to replace all of the various body parts (although I am a little nervous). 4 – get it wrapped. I’ve got a budget for all this of around £2,000. Thank you if you’ve made it this far! I really appreciate your time and any assistance you can offer. Dan
  2. Hi Folks, First up this is my first post, in fact my first owners club and first forum... Okay, I recently bought a 2007 Mondeo Mk4 1.8 TDCI and was told by a friend to install a performance chip for better fuel economy and performance. My first question was, are they not a scam? and was told no they do work...!! My second question was do they not just trick the on board computer putting your engine and other parts (turbo etc) under unnecessary stress and cause them to fail? Again I was told no they don't exceed manufactures settings..! My third question was, so why don't Ford just have the best settings for their cars? and I was told its so one engine like mine has a variant from roughly 100-125Bhp so they can tempt you from the base model to the more powerful... (This I'm not so sure about... anyone?????) I then started to look and research the options, and there's tons! ranging from; OBD(2) boxes that plug in under the dash like this one (hope attaching links are ok?) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Performance-Chip-Tuning-Box-OBD2-ECU-Remap-Ford-B-Max-C-Max-Escort-Diesel-/111816484151?hash=item1a08c82537:g:kfkAAOSwLVZVuoBL PRICE £110 Then There's Diesel Tuning Box Chip that plug in under the bonnet to the to the fuel rail like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Mondeo-TDCi-Diesel-Tuning-Box-Chip-up-to-2008-/331537251467?hash=item4d3128fc8b:g:rj4AAOxy4dNS4p9S PRICE £80 On the Variation of this and on various forums there are links to REMAPPING from Spider Performance boxes from £200-£375 each http://www.dieseltuning.co.uk/ Or Superchips £359 http://www.superchips.co.uk/ Or Drakebox £80 http://www.drakebox.co.uk/ On there sites there are hundreds of testaments and great reviews and I know even on here there could be bias based on affiliation or even website key word monitoring... (Yeah I'm very skeptical) But if these really work, which one should I go for OBD2, Fuel Rail, Remap, and which make, and why that over others.. There's not a lot of information on reviews or tests in either google or you-tube... so I started looking at forums and owners clubs and I have finally arrived here! I hope my post doesn't contravene any posting rules, I did skim over them. I really would like to here honest and useful thoughts on everything above before I shell out my hard earned cash. Many thanks Madmac :)
  3. Hello everyone! Does anyone know if there is some sort of Airbag simulator for the seat connector in the MK2 Focus? Because after I installed new bucketseats the airbag light is on. The original seats had airbags in them etc.
  4. Just had my windscreen replaced by autoglass (bullseye chip and a star-break close together) must say the guy who did it was great and explained everything even down to showing me that the 'original' ford stamped screen had very little bonding on it and the top passenger side corner actually had NO bonding on it! After reading some of the horror stories online about autoglass I have to say the guys done a good job on our focus, no problems with the sensors in the screen and everything works as it should. The only difference with the screen is instead of being stamped 'Ford' it has Pilkington which supplies OE to the industry anyway. Had to pay £75 excess but better than the £520 had I replaced it at my own cost! Anyone else had their windscreen replaced and if so how did it go?
  5. Morning guys, Driving home last night I managed to get a decent chip / crack in my front screen. I've never had anything this bad before and although it's on the passenger side and not within my line of vision it's just about at the limits of what most advise for injection; not to mention annoying! I'm aware that the heated screens are fairly expensive, plus I also have auto lights / wipers. Therefore I'm looking for advice - Repair for free or get the screen replaced for £70? I'm not bothered either way, but considering the screen has gained a few small chips during the time Ive owned it, it's probably worth replacing. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks Stu
  6. Hello all, I'll start by firstly apologising for my uselessness and secondly for possibly posting this topic in an incorrect place. (sorry i don't use forums so not sure on the etiquette). I've scoured the internet and had no luck with my specific problem. I bought a flip remote key for my Fiesta in the hope that i'd gut the old remote key and pop the innards in the new case and be off. I understand obviously the key wont work right off without being cut etc. However i thought transferring the insides would mean no programing was needed. Now ive come to do the task and i can seem to get my hands on the Transponder. And i can't seem to remove the chip board inside without feeling like im going to snap it in half. , , , Ultimately this was a bit of a boredom/vanity project... its not crucial but if anyone could help, it'd be greatly appreciated!
  7. Ford Transponder Keys

We've just bought an 04 StreetKa, with only one immobiliser key - I'm trying to get my head around getting a second key second hand, and although I know that a new horshoe blank key can be cut and fitted, and the remote fob can be reprogrammed to our car from the other car using the on/off ignition method, I'm confused about the transponder bit - if I buy a second hand transponder key (with the original transponder chip from someone elses car), can that used transponder chip also be reprogrammed to our car, even if it means a trip to IDS ?
  8. Hi There!

Hi all, I am currently driving in a 1.3 Fiesta Finesse which I have had for just over a year and I'm just looking for some advice on things to do to my fiesta to make look a bit cooler and general up keeping of my wee ford. Thanks for reading!
  9. Have you seen this yet ? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sPjgIMnmbHA handy things, reversing cameras!
  10. Hello everyone :) Quite excited at the moment! You can guess why! I pick up my new fiesta tomorrow after waiting exactly 1 week from ordering, which is fairly quick in terms of delivery time. I'm getting the Race Red Zetec 1.0 100ps EcoBoost. I only went for one addition, which was a spare wheel. I do have a few questions; - Spare wheel; Do you get to keep the spare wheel after the two years? - Footwell Lighting; Is this standard on Zetec's or is it Zetec-S it starts? - RPM; What RPM is your fiesta doing at around 70mph? Currently my 1.2 Clio is at about 3.3 Cheers!
  11. Hi. I recently purchased a 51 mondeo diesel estate. My previous car was a saab 95 aero estate and sold it due to the rocketing fuel prices. Going from my saab to the mondeo was quite a shock in more ways than one. Not only was I getting 3 times more milaege out of the ford but it was doing it rather sluggishly. Someone advised me to buy a chip to raise the BHP from 115 to 147 (give or take) so I purchased one which plugs directly into the common rail. This is where I ran into problems. I went to fit it today and could not find the common rail, or anywhere I could plug the chip into. Any ideas where I would plug the chip into or have I bought the wrong chip. If so can anyone recommend a chip that I can use (assuming I can) Heres a link to where I purchased it from. http://www.racechip.de/en/chiptuning/ford/mondeo/3-b4y/2-0-tdci-85kw/index.php Thanks ever so much Andrew
