  1. Hey, I've got a (new to me) '62 plate focus estate titanium X, 1.6TDCI (115) stop-start engine with keyless entry and keyless start button. it has around 120k on the clock. Timing belt/chain has just been done. I've had it arpund 2 weeks. I have a problem where the car will not start using the button (have not tried the emergency key yet) it takes many attempts for the car to start. A faint, but dull click can be heard after pressing the button - sounds a bit like  the starter motor solanoid -but don't read too deep into that. it cut out at the weekend when I was on holiday - it was either stop-start kicking in, or me fumbling about and made it cut-out, or it just cut-out its self - I'm not sure. either way it wouldn't start, all signs pointed towards having a flat battery, that's what it felt like. THe AA came out and couldn't start it either, eventually it just started by fluke.140miles later after getting going again it did the same thing when I turned the car off to pick the dog up, got in the car and it would not start until about 8 tries of pressing the button, each time there was a faint, dull clicking noise from the engine bay. there's no warnings that I can see, but I did see *something* about hill-start assist on the display as I got into the car for the first time on the day it first broke down. here's a video (car was warm - I'd just stpped it to nip into doctors) https://www.dropbox.com/s/n9yszdu8wig847e/20160201_105618.mp4?dl=0     The AA ran diagnostics but their system didn't read the ford codes and he said there were 5 electrical faults in the memory but he could not tell me what the errors meant. (p.s I'm not talking about the ~4 sec delay between pressing the button and waiting for the coils to warm up where the engine fires its self after the short pause. This happens with a warm car too)
  2. Afternoon, Ford fiesta 1.4 tdci (59) Blowers have gradually slowed day after day until they stopped working all together the other day on every setting. Having read a few similar posts, thought it could be the heater resistor. Changed that, nothing happened. Read another that it could be the pollen filter, changed that, nothing happened. Come to the conclusion that the blower motor is knackered and needs changing. I can get one from the scrappy, Only problem is I cannot for the life of me find out where the bugger is! YouTube - nothing Blueprint guides - nothing Need to try and get it done because it's !Removed! cold! And it's getting to the stage where the condensation is so bad the inside of frozen as well as the outside. Cheers!
  3. Hi everyone. I wondered if anyone would know where I can get some replacement door seals from for a 2004/05 Streetka passenger side please? I have a leak in my passenger side car door. I have figured out my seals are in two parts and are held together by a plastic pin and was pulled off one day by a garage man after the door was bashed in a crash. My poor car has not been the same since (it has been about two years now). I have tried my hardest to get replacement seals but I have been told by Ford that they stopped making them a long time ago and it seems breakers yards never get any. My seals have been held together for the last two years with a patch from a bycle puncher repair kit which has worked, unfortunately the rubber has perished and this is no longer an option. I can try and get ome more secondhand ones of ebay and hope the pin is not damaged and if so continue with the puncture repair kit method. I would prefer a more permenant solution though and I can't afford a new car at the minute. Would anyone have any ideas please? Thank you x
  4. Hi all just purchased a 2015 1.5T focus zetect s 5days ago, I am new to the modern fords the last ford I had was a cortina crusader! Been a Vauxhall man for the past 20 years but could not resist the fords any longer, they have come on so much I had to have one. All this tech has blown me away, I know I am going to have lots of questions so am hoping that the ford owners community with be able part with some of that knowledge. My first question is to do with my phone and the sync, my phone connected fine and has been working great for the first few days until I had a missed call from the wife. Now when I get into the car my phone connects ok but then knocks off the radio, if I press the phone button on the steering wheel the music comes back for a second then stops again and a message flashes up on the screen about the missed call and do I want to accept of reject the call. The message stays on the screen for only a second or two then disappears and the radio is still muted. I have tried accepting and rejecting the call but nothing changes, the message still goes off and the radio stays muted. Anyone any ideas?
  5. Hi, Looking for some advice on which replacement water pump I need. The car is a 2003 StreetKa, registered in March of that year. The engine is a 1.6 Duratec (Zetec Rocam). It needs a new water pump. Two part numbers are listed and I'm unsure which I need. First part no 1229571 lists a water pump and gasket, and second part no 1798955 lists a water pump kit with no gasket ... sold separately. Has anyone fitted one? Do I need the additional part shown in the pump kit? Or can I buy the pump and gasket? Cheers, Ed
  6. Dear fellow KA owners/enthousiasts, I have been driving my Ford KA (first car i owned) for about half a year now. I never had any serious problems with it untill now. Today i wanted to drive to the store but my car wouldn't start. I did not hear the engine or starter turn over, but i did hear a ticking noise, which i believe comes from the relais to the starter engine. I made videos of me starting the engine (both from the drivers seat and under the hood) to maybe help you guys pinpoint the problem. View My Video View My Video All electrical things like radio/windows work so i know the battery is not dead (it's a battery that was installed when i bought the car). I did change the bulb in my left headlight the day before, but afterwards i drove to a friend and back without any problems. Is it possible that a wire was close to being disconnected because of my headlight fix and then disconnected due to vibrations when i was driving? Is this maybe a moisture issue in the distributor/starter (it has been raining the last few days)? We have tried a few things, being: - reconnecting the battery connections. - putting it in second gear and pushing to turn over the starter one turn. This did change the sound a bit when i tried to start it afterwards, but then it almost instantly changed back to the old ticking noise. - pushing the car with the clutch down and letting the clutch come up slowly to try and start it without the starter engine. This didn't work, but we only tried it once since it was just the 2 of us. I have some knowledge of car engines since i study mechanical engineering, but i lack experience in the practical application, so any tips, help or suggestions on what to do would be appreciated very much!! I don't have a multimeter right now, but will be able to get one tomorrow. Sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes, i'm not a native English speaker ;) Looking forward to a response and thanks in advance!

    Hi guys looking for a little help with my 06 mondeo 20 tdci, I have had 2 new starter motors fitted within 3 months due to trouble starting and also 2 new earth leads from battery to body due to burn out, I get a click then dials shoot over and after a few tries sometimes a lot the car will fire up and run then will start for rest of day only seems to happen when left over night or for a few hours sitting. I have had a number of people look at it and at present am trying to locate the main earth strap from engine to bulkhead as I have ruled out battery etc it.s now all pointing to an earth, I have spoken to motor factors and they say it may be in the main loom, any help would be much appericated.     Hello I thought I'd join this ford forum as I've had my streetka a while and planning on keeping it until it's unrepairable lol I attend many meets and have been in the car scene for many years even before driving. I love cars and have had a few since driving including Clio sport, punto sporting and a fezza... I have my own plate which has also followed me in the car scene and been on all my cars...   9. Hot Electric Window Buttons..?

    Hey Ford Owners Club, I bought a 1996 Fiesta Saphire last week or so for a very decent price considering the engine was replaced at 48,000 miles and has only done 30,000 since. However the locks were dodgy which I was told but have been working ok up until today when my luck ran out and I had to try and break into my car and then when that didn't work, call the AA to come and break into my car... During all of this the immobiliser got activated but we managed to get the windows down by connecting his power supply up to mine to get the ignition on and shoving a stick through the wedged open door. The locks went super spazzy and so we had to take the Central locking fuse out. Anyway, it doesn't seem that much has been affected thankfully other than I have just done a 45 minute journey and I noticed that the electric window buttons were incredibly hot. It was night so I wasn't using them so not like they had any reason whatsoever to get so hot and distressed. I checked under the hood and the engine also seemed very hot however my air conditioning still came out cool and didn't idicate any unusual behaviour to me. I have taken it on several journeys of around this length or longer since I've had it and not noticed any problems at all. It could be that this was happening before and I didn't notice but I can't help but feel that it's only happening because of the problems earlier on in the day... I'm a bit concerned so hoping someone might know what to do or suggest to help. Guessing this is the right place to ask! Thanks, Zak
  10. Hi everybody, I'm looking for some advice on what could be causing the issue I'm currently having with my beloved Fiesta. I went to start her up the other morning to find that when I turned the key all the way I lost all electrics. What is strange is that when I turn the key I initially get dashboard lights, radio, blowers, everything works fine until I turn the key to start the engine. When I do this, I have total electrical failure and I'm unable to start it at all no matter how many times I try. Absolutely dead. It's as if the battery is totally flat. I tried to start it again in the evening of that day and it was as if nothing had happened. It started perfectly, no issues since. I got to work today and needed to pop to the shop on my lunch hour, turned the key, same thing happened. My boss managed to jump start me to get me home this evening, so I was lead to believe the battery (which is less than 12 months old) was dodgy. So, today, I had my battery and alternator tested and they are both "perfect". They put it down to "electrical gremlins". I am now in a position where I dont know when it will next happen and have no idea what is causing it. Has anyone else had the same issue?
  11. hi to all i have a 1.6 focus petrol automatic zetec se .......i was driving home when i heard a rapid knocking sound from the engine that gets faster when accelerating and when slowing/stopping car idles irratic then stalls .......put 4 litres of 5w30 in.... now when trying to start dash and roof light go dim/off starter clicks once....tried jumping from another cars battery but leads got hot quick and i saw a tiny plume of smoke from middle of engine so.... is it wise to try and jump start again ? any idea about irratic idle and stall ? or what knocking noise is ? car wont start helpppppp....

Hi, I've had this issue for a while now, probably since before Christmas last year, in the winter it really struggled to start, after turning the key the starter would turn the engine over but it would turn over slower and slower but sometimes it would suddenly really pick up pace and fire the engine up. I replaced the battery and it seemed to go away I've been using the car less anyway. Now what I'm finding is still get the slow-ish turnover but also after a drive and the engine is hot/warm when i try to restart the engine just coughs and spluts and rattles and shakes then cuts out, does it a few times but then fires up fine. Here is a video of it happening; https://youtu.be/WkYW0JdpYBU I've read various other posts on forums and there seems all sorts of stories some ending with replacing the starter motor and some relating to DMF. My DMF was replaced about 50,000 miles ago (at 81k, I'm now on 127k) so dont suspect it of being that, so I've ordered a new starter motor. Do you guys think it could be starter motor? And also, does anyone have instructions on how to replace starter motor, its a mk4 2007 ('57 plate) 1.8 TDCi estate. Hope you can help. Thanks Gavin

    hi there looking for a bit help had a car mechanic i always use to fit new timing belt kit as well as a new water pump and a new set of spark plugs . but cant get car to start again after these jobs have been done. he.s had it on the diagnostic but finds no error codes . but he reckons its some thing to do with the main key needing re programed. but not sure could any one help with this thanks
  15. Focus Mk1 Wiring Problem

    I have a 1998 MK1 focus, manual, petrol. There is intermittent failure to start: when you turn the key against the 'resistance' of the switch, there is no sound ( no clicking ). The battery is OK and occasionally the thing just suddenly bursts into life. I therefore assume it's the ignition switch or the starter relay (R17). I removed the starter relay. When ign is ON, but before you go to 'start', there is 12V at pin 1 of the relay ( as expected ) but the relay doesn't pull in because pin 2 ( earth connection ) isn't making it to earth. The wire goes to a contact on the ECU, apparently. At this point I'm stuck: why does it go to the ECU and not to the body-work? How should I proceed? Bruce
  16. Hi, I've bought a 2004 streetka for my daughter and separately bought a Hard top but neither the car or the hard top came with the rear mounting brackets and wiring harness. I've tried a number of car breakers sites to try and locate but without success. Does anyone have or know where I can buy the hardware from to mount the hard top? Many thanks in advance. Alan

  18. Hi all I've just purchased a 57 plate 2.0 TDCi Zetec focus and all seems well apart from the cranking speed. Not having had one before I don't know if it's normal for these but it feels like an old tractor starting, very slow and chuggy but does always start. It's almost like an old engine where the glow plugs have failed. I'm going to check voltages and earths etc but wondered if there are any common things to look out for? Thanks Mow
  19. Hi All, Need some help! My StreetKA is squeaking (definitely the fan belt). I've been looking around to find the best price fan belt. I have found a couple of belts at reasonable prices but for some reason they state that they fit StreetKA's between 12/2002 - 12/2005. Firstly, I wasn't aware they were made in 2002. Secondly mine is a 2006 model. Can't find any for 2006 models. Is there a difference between a 2005 model engine and 2006 model? I know some StreetKA's didn't have air con, but the belts state suitable for StreetKA's 1.6 12/2002-12/2005 with Air Con and P/Steering. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! :)
  20. Struggling To Start?

    Hello everyone! I currently have a Ford Focus Mk2.5 Facelift, and i keep having trouble with it not starting. Its an automatic, the message i get most of the time when it won't start is ESP off however the ESP does work as on my way to work most of the time i hear it kick in on the country lanes. Also Occasionally i'll get a transmission failure warning and then the car starts beeping at me. If i turn it off and try again it will struggle and then start. This doesn't happen all of the time. Around once a week? Where it is automatic i am hoping there is nothing wrong with the box, as it will be expensive. Dads a mechanic and he has no idea what it could be. Any help greatly appreciated!   21. I have a ford fiesta MK6 1.4 2003 that has devoleped a noise when the blower is on. Im thinking its leafes or debris inside the fan. Ive looked in my haynes manual which seemed pretty straight forward but from a closer look at the pictures it seems like they did it with the entire dash already taken out which isnt ideal. Then to the forums which say the blower motor is located next to the blower motor resistor under the drivers side footwell but after removing that it seems like its just a control arm for the fan speed or heat or something. Although I could catch a glimpse of the fan from sliding a hatch to the side (which im assuming is to do with the air recirculation) I have no idea how on earth I would get to it. so frustrating. any help would be much appreciated. sorry for any grammtical errors im tired.

Hi, my smax has developed a starting problem & now wont start at all, about a month ago I had to call out green flag as I had a flat battery, they said the battery was on its way out so I got a new one, this was fine for a few days then it seemed slow to turn over the engine, I didn't take any action as it started on the second turn or so, then it seemed to be ok, started on the button for about a week then back to slow turn over again, also when I cranked the engine it would start turning slow then speed up, today it wont start at all & when cranked sparks can be seen between the solenoid & the starter body it seems, I have checked & cleaned all earth connections & all connections on the starter???????
  23. Had the car nearly a month, had a major service about two weeks ago. A few days ago, i pushed the starter button, the engine turned over, but was really lumpy and didnt completely fire up. To stop the drain on the battery and the motor, i pushed the start button again to cancel it. I tried it again and it started fine. This has happened to me a few times in the last few days, both with a hot engine and a cold engine. Any ideas?
  24. So i went on holiday for 3 weeks when I came home I noticed my trip computer was reset to 0 miles... pretty sure I didn't reset it before I went away... I never do... it was weird. I also noticed when turning the car on for the first time it was like reallly rough to drive like the battery had been disconnected kinda tihing.. it I assumed this was to be expected as normally the car was driven daily for 30miles at least and to go from that to nothing for 3 weeks I figured this was normal.. but even now a few days on after driving it, the main thing I see wrong is that when I first start the car, even after its got a warmed up engine, it seems to struggle to start... normally when i first turn the key, the dashboard will stay lit up e.t.c it wont show details but the lights stay on.. and all the meters in the car will go to their correct places right from the start. Now however... the dash board will flicker quite badly... and the starter motor sounds really slow... all the meters will go up a bit at the start and then back to zero or will jsut freeze on the way up for awhile even after the engine is actually started... then it will correct itself after like a 2second delay... does this sound like a battery on its way out? or is it something else?
  25. Hi everyone, This weekend changed the fuel pump timing solenoid, As with the job had to take out the starter motor. Everything done double/triple checked everything, Go and connect battery up an immediately the starter motor starts to spin and does so until disconnecting the battery. There were no keys in the ignition either, wiring to the starter is correct too. Any suggestions would be great. Cheers K@rl
