Hello, Just a quick question if anyone has any ideas, we are trying to replace the trailing arm bushes on my 1999 Fiesta however it would seem that nothing has been changed on my car since it came out the showroom as most things take a lot of brute force to get out. We don't have a bush puller or whatever it is called and going by the Haynes guide has helped us get to the stage of taking out the bushes but it would appear that one bolt had seized, which we have managed to get out to drop the axel, however now the bushes appear to be seized in the axel. Any ideas how we can get them out? I have seen one step by step online with seized ones where they used a hacksaw to cut through everything then used the bush puller to pull the bush out, however we do not have one and they appear to be really stuck in there, so really any ideas on how to get them out, I have managed to cut nearly through one of them but with another one to go, any advise would be great.   2. Hi, just changed the front anti roll bar bushes on my 2.0 tdci focus, however my steering is now heavy, pas is working as you can hear the pump (not loud) and it gets heavier when the engine is switched off. Any suggestions?
  3. Another Problem!

    Hello, I have a 2006 Focus ST 2.5 mk2 and I had my M.O.T and they said my lower arm rear mount bushes are worn, now would that effect my suspension and steering just I can hear a weird sound on the front suspension and on my steering wheel when im parked up and I move it round and bit and back I can feel a little knock in it. If this all makes sense lol thanks in advance!

  5. Hi, I would like to use my new Nexus 7 2013 in my ford fiesta. What tablet car holder / mount are you guys using? I thing the thing that would look better would be a CD Slot mount to give it some use :) but it would cover the radio controls but I think it's a minor issue. Thank you
  6. Hi guys, Thinking about getting a phone mount for my car. Obviously there are two types of solutions: the window suction type mount, and the air vent clip type mount. I want the latter, as it allows for easier cable routing (aux and charger), and my phone overheats easily when navigation is running - so an air vent blowing onto its back would be ideal.   7. Hi there, I was driving down the road and suddenly i heard a clunk and the whole car began to shake. pulled up as early as i could. it sounded like an exhaust part had come off. Called AA and had him inspect the exhaust. everything seemed fine. then he stuck his hand around under the airbox and battery and found that the gearbox mount had come loose and dropped off. this was strange as 90% of the thread was still there on the mount hole and the massive screw was also fine. He managed to jack the car up and bolted the mount in again and seems alright so far, but he recommended i replace that part and limit my driving. Car seems fine so far, doesn't look like anything else has been damaged so far. Does anyone know where i would be able to get the mount? Ford are quoting £80 for the part, and its gonna have to be ordered in. I've rang a few breakers and none of them have the part available. I stay in the Cheltenham area during the week and go back to East London on the weekends, id like to have the part replaced before i on the motorway journey back. Thanks for any help.   9. Escort X Reg Bushes Gone??

    hi was wondering if anyone could help me i was at the garage today getting a new tyre put on and the tyre fitter told me when he was torquing up the weel nuts that the bushes had gone. he showed me and the wheel was moving back when he was putting pressure on the torque wrench.. is this a hard job to do? i come from a mechanical background but havent done much work on cars just the odd lorry at college. cheers in advance for any help.
  10. Hi guys, Had my 1997 Ford Ka for 2 months now and I love it. Great little car for the money I got it for. One of the things I noticed when I got the car is that the brakes on it are no where near as good as any car I've driven as a learner. They're quite soft feeling, and you have to push the pedal a relatively good distance to get effective braking out of it, and then they seem to get just about strong enough for "emergency" braking if you push harder. I assumed this was just slightly worn brakes. I have also heard that the brakes use the same system as the 1980 Ford Fiesta, so I guess this could be a reason (as brakes back then weren't up to modern standards). The car passed its MOT with no advisories relating to brakes in October, so I assumed they were fine. Also the brakes still manage to lock up without a problem under really heavy braking, so I'd have thought this'd mean they're perfectly strong enough. However, this morning my step-dad drove it around the corner and now he's telling me that my brakes are "dangerous" and they need replacing. He says they shouldn't be anywhere near that bad. I told him you do have to push them harder than he's used to (as until recently he drove a 6 year old Hyundai Accent, and now drives my mum's brand new Hyundai i30) but he was having none of it. He says I need them done ASAP, preferably by the weekend otherwise it's an accident waiting to happen. I'm only 17 and barely have the money for my monthly insurance payments, let alone new brakes, so I don't really want to go spending out on them if I don't need them. From the way the car feels, the MOT and what I've heard I'd say that new brakes would only make the car marginly better, as the brakes don't sequel or rub under braking so I don't think the pads need doing. The only thing I can think of is adjustment, but again I don't think it'll do much for it. Basically I'd like it if somebody could just tell me if my brakes are normal or not? And if they're perfectly fine bearing in mind this is a 1997 car with 70,000 miles. I imagine there must be someone out there that can tell me what they think of Ford brakes :P Cheers for your help guys, and thanks for reading through all this :) Ben
