Guide: Fitting Reverse Camera Mk2.5 Focus 2008 - 2011 Hi all, Not really much to do in this guide mainly because the chosen reverse camera kit is so good, Has taken a lot of work out of installing. See link: http://www.parcelmotel.com/ Here's what's in the box: Very nicely packaged and presented the kit is top quality and i really cant praise it enough :) It replaces the existing boot handle while incorporating the reverse camera in to the handle, This guarantees the camera is most definitely centre aligned on the rear of the vehicle aswell as quite discreet. Pre-crimped terminals ready for splicing in to the existing boot handle cables: And here's where it becomes worth the money :) The loom is separated in two halves by this bespoke connection: This makes things so much easier to install, Because you're not trying to fish a bulky yellow RCA plug through the rubber goose neck between boot door and main chassis :) Its a minute plug instead. So on the end of the loom is your RCA plug for the camera signal: This plugs in to the rear of your compatable headunit And the blue cable: This is a signal feed, it carries positive power from the reverse bulb to the headunit causing the headunit to automatically display the reverse signal each time you put the car in to reverse: Open Boot Door, Remove parcel shelf and store in safe place. Remove both torx screws in side panel: Useful to have a plastic bottle or something to store all screws in preventing them from loss : On the boot door there's two grab handles, Inside these handles are two torx screws; one in each pocket. Remove both screws: Now with one hand holding the metal boot door, Pull down the plastic panel with your other hand. Here's what's beneath: Now remove all six Nuts from iside the panel. This can be awkward when working over head, I suggest sitting in the boot on the sill, With your feet on the ground outside the vehicle, Bring the boot panel down on to your lap makes it much easier to work with, Also when removing these nuts; Count the rotations to removal This avoids over tightening when refitting the panel. Here's the nut locations: Left: Right: After removing the nuts there are two clips which grip in to the boot, These are quite brittle if they snap you can seal with a small amount of silicone sealant, There only there to assist alignment of the panel as the bolts do all the gripping. When the outer panel is removed you will see a rubber grommet like the one in the image below: It's possible to disconnect a plug inside the boot panel allowing full removal of the panel, Allowing it to be brought to a table for working with, Here's what the loom is like dissected from the panels: The single plug on far side of the rubber grommet is the one that's inside the boot panel. Unplug it and the whole panel is free to remove: At this point the standard electronic boot handle should be removed by unplugging it from the loom and squeezing the retaining clips from either side of the unit. Cut loom plug from the end of the boot handle loom: Strip ends ready for crimping on the new terminals: Ensure both cables are passing through the boot panel prior to crimping Insert one cable inside one of the red crimps and squeeze it tight with top of crimping tool. Repeat on the second terminal, It doesn't matter which terminal is crimped to which cable in this case.     Hi all. I have the Focus mk3 zetec 2011 and the license plate bulb has stopped working. I have called gkford parts and they reckon i have to buy the entire boot release switch etc at a cose of £32 i have enloses a picture of the rubber sealed catch and would like to ask anyone if this is true or can the bulb just be replaced. dont really want to fork out £32 for all that when its just the damn bulb, pretty expensive bulb. or does anyone know if there is any online spares shop etc. thanks all steve

  5. Hi, I have a Mk1 saloon which appears to be leaking water into the boot. Small amount of water is dripping on the carpet. When I put my hand under the lip on the passenger side (around the area where the pulls are to drop the rear seat) it comes back wet. My mechanic has had a look and can't figure out if the rear screen is letting water in (so it's running down inside the car and coming around the join) of if the seem that sits just above is letting water in. It worse when it's been washed, and oddly when opening the boot the entire back half of the lid is covered in water droplets (my first thought was that the seal around the boot had gone). My mechanic, when testing tried blowing air up from inside the car to see if any bubbles appears around the rear screen with no luck. My mechanic thinks the rear screen might break if we take out and re-seal, but there is no guarantee this the cause. By the way, it's not coming from the light cluster - totally dry around both of these so 100% not leaking rear lights! Anybody else had this problem or any ideas on where else it might be coming from? The car is good condition and has only mid 50k miles from new so don't mind spending some money on it, just want to make sure it's not wasted! Thanks

Guide: Fitting Boot Door Tow Strap Ford Focus Mk2 and Mk2.5 I've created this guide to show how one of these Tow Straps can be fitted as a boot pull handle, Which in my opinion is functional, modified appearance and adds a new twist to the use of this increasingly popular item. A detailed background regarding the original purpose of these straps is viewable in the first post below this guide. I've purchased a Blue SPARCO branded Tow Strap from eBay Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171845269997 Tools Required: T25 Torx, Dremil Style Rotary Tool, Small drill bit head, Masking Tape, Pencil, Set Square or Ruler, Roll Gaffer Tape, First Step, Open the boot door, Remove the parcel shelve, Then using a T25 Torx; Unscrew the panel retaining screw from both pockets in the panel as saw in images below: With both screw's removed; Place one hand on the metal boot door, Place other hand in the pocket of the plastic handle and pull downwards, The panel will unclip as saw in image below, this separation process makes a lot of noise when the plastic is unclipping. Repeat the grip and pull process on the opposite side to remove the plastic panel completely. With the panel now removed, Lift out the green insulation pad and set it to one side, Using masking tape, Apply a strip to the area slightly above the drivers side pocket inset of the plastic handle, Draw a line that is within close alignment with the top of the pocket insert; Line up the metal bracket of the tow strap with the centre screw hole of this pocket, Mark out the width you require the slot to be. When the markings are exactly as you would like; Obtain the Dremil Rotary tool and cut out the markings, Trial fit the metal bracket and adjust slot to size as required, NOTE: the panel is quite flexible meaning the Tow Strap can be squeezed through a small slot rather than boring bigger try work it through as small as possible. Remove masking tape followed by; A few fire lit matches held closely above the cut slot will gently melt the rough edge that's left behind from cutting the slot, Also; My initial plan was to sandwich the metal bracket of the tow strap to the space between the plastic pocket on the panel And The metal bracket of the boot door as saw above; The alignment is correct in such way the Tow Strap bracket hole is in alignment where the Torx screw would secure it like a washer between both panels, This plan proved to be 100% possible, However i became concerned that the tow strap metal may rub off the boot panel metal bracket causing the paint to strip and rust, End result. As a precaution i used a series of small Gaffer tape strips to hold the Tow strap bracket secure to the inside of the panel which performs just as good without any risk of scuffing paint. Whichever mounting option you choose A: fit to Torx screw like a Washer, or B: Secure Bracket with Tape At this point its time to refit the foam padding, If fitting the Tow bracket to the Torx screw; a Stanley blade is required to cut a slot in the foam allowing the bracket to easily pass through. Refit the foam padding, Return to the car offer up the plastic boot panel, When aligned correctly; slap the panel in to place using the palm of your hand while gripping the metal boot door in other hand, Refit the two T25 Torx retaining screws in to the bottom of the plastic panel !Removed! in until hand tight. Hi, Im new to the forum as figured somebody may have had one or some of the issues i am having and may be able to point me in the right direction to fix without spending if i dont have to. i, passenger side electric wing mirror no longer working (drivers side fine and working off same switch) & have checked fuses ii, Electronic boot release switch inside the cabin no longer works to release boot (Have changed switch) & recently will not open from the key fob either iii, cigarette lighter randomly stopped working. changed to new power unit but there is no power getting through at all Im no mechanic but do have a basic understanding of how things are changed etc but im lost as to why the above has happened. Any help or ideas would be great! Thanks!!!
  8. Hi. I've got a Fiesta Mk6 with electric boot release, key fob and dashboard button both of which have stopped working. I can still get in to the boot using the key. Looking at it when i press the button on they key to open the boot the latch moves but not enough to open it which is where i believe the problem to be!! Any suggestions to fix it would be great :)
  9. Hi Guys, I've recently purchased a 2004 KA 1.3 Collection for the other half, it's in really good condition for a 04 plate but does has a couple of small annoyances (for me anyway !) Both the bonnet and boot Ford badges are missing, I know I can pick some up from eBay but can anyone confirm if both badges would be the same size, or is one smaller than the other .. I only picked the car up last night so haven't had a chance to measure. Any help or advice would be greatly received. Thanks.

  11. Hi, I hope someone can shed some light on this. I have a Focus 2.0TDCI CC, 2008 57 plate. The car had a flat battery a few days ago and has developed lots of electrical faults since, such as: Interior light not working, rear window demist not working but quick clear front demist is ok, one touch windows not working, as a convertible it has an electric boot fastener when you close it which isn't working either. All these things were ok before the flat battery. Since getting the car in June '14 its had a fault which is still the same. This fault is when the car is started the dash lights, reverse light, radio & electric roof don't work for approx 30 seconds while the engine management light and heater plug light stay on for the same 30 seconds. I don't know if this old fault is connected with the new fault. Please help, I have no idea what to do next with this...... Thank you
  12. I have a 2007 Focus CC. The boot will not open using the handle or the key. When I try the handle, I can hear a click, but nothing else happens. Any ideas please? Is there an alternative method of opening it?

Hi all, First post so be kind :) Been looking around at all the different touches that people have been making to their Focus's and seeing how good they looked decided I needed to have a go at some of them! Going to start off by sorting out the interior lighting. Would really appreciate some pointers on a couple of things.. Boot light - I've ordered these LEDs to replace the poor excuse for a bootlight, just wanted to double check they the right ones? Planning on using Lenny's excellent guide to add an extra bootlight. Courtesy light - Mine being a lowly Sport spec I only get the single courtesy light (not the one with the map lights) and was wondering if I would be able to replace it with this? What LEDs would I need to replace each one with? Also any pointers as to how to go about it would really appreciate it. Glove box - Again just wondering which LED I would need to replace it with and any tips on how to go about it? Thanks for reading
  14. hi guys, I recently had an idiot try to get he rear number plate off my focus, and to get it off they wrecked the first screw (so it's gotta be drilled out) but on the second one, hey twisted and pulled and distorted the hole that the hole is now too big and he plus is completely gone. What's the best advice for me to fix this guys, but I refuse to use rivnuts... Thank you.
  15. Water Leak

    I need some advice, my 2004 focus 3dr has a water leak into the boot the water is coming in on the D/S/R and is pooling between the inner and outer wings in the space by the body vent. I have sealed up the body vent, the triangular trim by the D/S/R side window and the securing plugs for the D/S/R light cluster. I am now lost and this is really making me lose my love for my focus. Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you in advance Matt
  16. Hello Everyone, I am suffering from the all too common boot leak problem but the source of the leak is coming from the bumper drains (I believe). I have come across this mentioned as a possible leaking area but no mention on how to repair it. When I pour water down the rear bumper drains only, water starts leaking in in the far corner of the boot (see pictures). The red arrow is the source of the leak and the blue line is the path the leak takes. The easy fix would be to seal this up on the inside with silicon but the leak is in the very far corner and inaccessible with a silicon gun or even scraping it into the corner. It looks like it will be a rear bumper removal job. So, has anyone come across this problem before and have any ideas on what I should be looking at when I remove the bumper? Cheers The car is a Focus Mk2 55 plate.

I Purchased mine on ebay for £2.99 removed from a 1997 Fiesta Click Here Total Cost for supplies is £25.66 excluding P&P, Stanley Blade and light unit which prices can vary All of the three E-bay sellers linked for all items listed above dispatch same day and are all 100% reliable and Great to deal with, the parts they supply are low cost and high quality so you can buy with confidence and Trust. As you can see in the Picture Above I Purchased 6 Metres Of Cable but 4Metres is enough to complete the project. Fitting Instructions Firstly get a small section of cardboard and draw the inner frame of the light unit on to the cardboard, once completely drawn use a Stanley blade to cut out the shape, Once cut out try the bulb unit for fitment, as you will see in the pictures the first slot I have cut out ended up too big, I have continued to post this error in the guide to highlight the importance of cutting on cardboard first as it would be a proper mess had the first cut been the panel in the car, I have cut out the second slot successfully and as you can see in the pictures, i have included measurements beside the slots, please note these measurements are a guide as to what size you should cut out of your cardboard template,this may save you some time not having to trace the light on to cardboard yourself by using the measurements in the picture, Always cut the template on cardboard prior to cutting the plastic panels as if an error is made, it can be a very expensive one to replace. Once the template is correct and the light fits snugly inside, cut a straight edge on the side of the cardboard, measure the location of your existing boot light and position your new boot light on the opposite side in relation to these position measurements, Once you have the template lined up where you want it to be, Using a Felt tip Marker colour in the box area you wish to cut out, Then if you have a Dremel cut out the plastic with the relevant cutting Blade for Plastic Material, Alternatively if like me you don't have a Dremel but have a Standard electric Drill, using the smallest Drill bit you have in my case it was a 2mm Bit, Drill a hole in the four edges of the coloured in box, you have aligned and marked on the plastic trim. The best position I have found for carrying out this, is to lie on your back in the boot compartment looking up at the sky, however I can't stress enough to always wear safety glasses when working like this as I Guarantee you are sure to have plastic fragments falling in your face and eyes lying in this position, and I guarantee you won't just wash it out with water, very painful Once the holes are drilled use a Stanley blade to continuously scour across the edge of the coloured in box, going repeatedly from drilled hole to drilled hole pushing firmly on the knife inching your way through the plastic, prepare for this part of the job to take 20-30 minutes, the purpose of drilling the holes in the four corners is to ensure the blade doesn't over shoot and cut the plastic where you don't want it to cut, i.e. if the blade slips it won't slide any further than the drilled hole so no unpleasant scratches left behind. Once this pain staking part is over and the plastic piece is removed, Check the hole for fitment and pare the edges as required. Continued On Next Post Below ...

This Guide is now available to download in PDF format, see link: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/62842-guide-fitting-12v-socket-boot-focus-mk2-mk25-2005-2011-pdf/ On the right hand side of the boot compartment on the Mk2.5 Focus and possibly the mk2 also, their is an orange plug which is a positive feed for a 12v power socket, the only additional items required to connect is a earth cable and a 12v socket, attach a female spade connector to the earth feed and push it in to the slot next to the positive feed, then push the orange connector on to the rear of the 12v power socket, finally choose a location on the panel you would like to mount the socket and drill the hole. their is power already being fed to the orange plug so their is no further wiring required. I Purchased Ford 12v Power supply kit Finis Code: 1021887 this kit has since been discontinued by ford, but if you wish to purchase the 12v Socket with out the earth cable the Finis code is:1333905 and costs less than £5 once you have that part you just need to make up an earth feed using a female spade connector and a ring terminal on the oposite end. it contained the 12v plug and cap 4metres of positive cable which i didnt need to use for fitting, 1 metre earth cable with female blade connector and ring terminal attached, and 8 cable ties which i didnt need to use. but this orange plug will work with any 12v socket that has 2 pins on the rear like this one found on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-FORD-GENUINE-12V-Auxiliary-Additional-Power-Socket-MONDEO-FOCUS-C-MAX-KUGA-/161049412044?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AFord&hash=item257f4b01cc I have crimped a ring terminal on to the opposite end of the earth feed cable, and put it on to the screw that holds the panel in place like a washer then screwed the panel back in to place, i now need to purchase a holesaw bit to fit the diameter of the 12v socket. When finished and the panels are back in place, take care to ensure the rubber boot seal over laps the plastic interior around the boot opening, to avoid any leaks.

  20. hi there, i just done a custom boot storage myself. and i thought id share it with you. been a long follower of this forum, but this will be my first post. i hope you guys will enjoy it. i always carry my bags with me in the car, and ive realized that when i do some shopping or carry extra stuff, i always need to keep them on top of my bags, which i didnt really like. i had some lino and carpet left over from a house job that i did. so i spent £13 on an mdf board. Ive put a lino down first then build the storage and covered it with carpet. Here some pictures, puting down the lino first put the first mdf in then added the side and the top covered the side with carpet covered the top with carpet and placed it and the final picture
  21. Fiesta Mk7 Water Ingress/leak

    Hey Guys :) Got a Fiesta MK7 (59 Plate) which seems to have a water leak in the boot passanger side. After looking on here a few people seem to be have a similar problem. Does anyone have a idea of where the water is coming in from the outside? I've also phoned Ford and got a case number and the car is in the gargae the now for investigation (£86 per day i think it costs) has anyone got a good will from Ford for water ingress before/whats the chanches of it? Its in the Ford Marchars gargae in Partick, Glasgow who apparently have a "Water ingress specialist unit" so hopefuly that helps. Its really annoying as i didnt notice it for a week roughly so the boot black matt is soaked along with the read passanager seat and rear passanger floor so it now has a slight dampness smell whats the best method to get rid of this smell? Thanks!

  23. Hi all, I hope the forum can help me here. I have had water ingress in the luggage area of the boot boot of my Focus estate for the last 3 months. Over that time, it has been into the dealer 3 times and the leak has still not been fixed. The have done the following: -Put sealant round the tailgate hinges (a common source of ingress apparently) -Had the roof lining away and still not been able to pinpoint the leak source Alas, this has still not fixed it and water is still coming in though the rear plastic 'vents' on the inside of the rear pillars. Taking the tailgate seals away and looking inside the (soaked) lining indicates water is still coming in from somewhere, and the lining is soaked up to 2-3 inches from the top corner of the tailgate. This might indicate that the leak is coming from that area. This problem is occurring in both the right and the left hand side of the car, bust mostly on the left. My car also has t-track roof rack fixings. I really hope someone can help me here! The car is perfect besides this. All the best and a belated Merry Christmas to you all!

    I can confirm that you can fit 2 rear wheels and one front wheel from a Ferrari in the boot of a fiesta... Also got the other front wheel in there as well, but you can't see it in the pic.
  25. hi, i've got three problems so far wit hthe boot of my fiesta (58 new shape), boot seems to slowly leak when we get bad weather and it pools in the spare wheel, all the fabric tends to get wet, i think it appears to be worse on the right hand side. ive done a search online and found this to be a common fault but no one really knows how or where this is happening from. Has anyone also experienced this?boot light has stopped working, changed bulb still doesnt work, could it be a fuse, does anyone know where the fuse would be for this as i couldnt see any reference to it in the hand book?alarm randomly goes off and ive noticed that when being at the car the inside light does also flash on and off, so figure there is a dodgy sensor, or switch. i did try looking around the edges hoping it would be a similar push switch like there are on the doors, but i couldnt see anything?please could some one help me, the alarm issue is more of a problem as its also annoying the neighbours and i need to try and get it fixed asap.
