  1. Apologies in advance for the length of this post but there are a lot of issues to resolve and I’d really appreciate some advice, guidance and comments. This is my 2006 Focus Zetec Climate 2.0, Eve. I want to fit an ST body kit and get her looking fabulous once again. I got her in July 2006 with 6,000 miles on the clock, in seemingly immaculate condition. She’s now done 62,000 miles and is looking a little battered and bruised but is a great car, mechanically sound and very reliable. Here’s a tour of her various issues… The front bumper took a nasty wack and also has some scuffing on the corner: Options to fix: replace with either a new or salvaged ST bumper. The bonnet has a weird dent on the right hand ridge and four rusting stone chips: Options to fix: get it repaired by a body shop or replace with a salvaged bonnet. We had a fight with a multi-storey car park. We lost. The rear passenger side door is a mess: Options to fix: get it repaired by a body shop or replace with a salvaged door (I’d need to retain my current trim and speaker). The rear wheel arch also took some of the pain: Options to fix: get it repaired by a body shop. I reversed into a stupid hand rail in a hospital car park and created this lovely dent: Options to fix: replace with a salvaged tailgate (I think the dent is too close to the edge for a body shop to easily rectify). The rear bumper has a little scuff too: Options to fix: replace with either a new or salvaged ST bumper (I need to retain the reversing sensors). The rear pillar has some deterioration to the paintwork which has become gradually more apparent over the last few years. I guess there was a small touch-up job done here prior to me owning the car: Options to fix: get it repainted at a body shop or do nothing. The rear driver’s side door has two nasty stone chips, the one by the door handle has dented the panel. Options to fix: get it repaired by a body shop or replace with a salvaged door (I need to retain the trim and speaker). As additional issues, I’d like to replace the standard spoiler with an ST, add side skirts (which may cover up some of the damage to the wheel arch) and tidy up my wheels – I’m contemplating getting them painted black rather than replacing them. As I’ve been thinking my way through this project I think I’ve come to the conclusion that I should get the car vinyl wrapped. This would help with a number of the above issues and (as long as I had neat panels underneath) would give the car an “as new” appearance. I think my plan should be as follows: 1 - get quotes from a body shop for repair prices for the wheel arch, doors and bonnet. If I’m wrapping then paint finish isn’t important, I just need clean, dent free panels. Any recommendations of body shops in North London, Herts, Essex? 2 – source replacement parts that can’t be repaired economically in stage 1. Parts I may need: bonnet, 2 x rear doors, tailgate, ST front bumper and grille, ST rear bumper, ST spoiler, ST side skirts. If I wrap the car, it doesn’t matter so much what colour the replacement parts are… my gut feeling is that I should go for black doors and tailgate and worry less about the rest. I assume using salvaged parts would be considerably cheaper than new, can anyone give me a rough guide as to what I should expect to pay. Where are the best places to find parts? 3 – fit it all. I’m a proficient DIYer but not experienced with fiddling around with cars. I’ve got a decent tool kit and a Haynes manual, what can go wrong? From what I’ve researched so far I think I should be able to replace all of the various body parts (although I am a little nervous). 4 – get it wrapped. I’ve got a budget for all this of around £2,000. Thank you if you’ve made it this far! I really appreciate your time and any assistance you can offer. Dan
  2. Attempted Theft

Hi, I have recently bought a 2009 Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 (90) TDCi. (2 Weeks Ago). Just yesterday I returned to find that some scum bag had tried to steal the car. They gained entry via the driver door. The handle is missing, they must have used a screw driver to pop the latch. Inside the vehicle they have pulled off the plastic steering cover, and chiselled out the ignition from the metal chamber. In doing so the metal chamber which is part of the steering column has been broken in half which is what hold the ignition barrel in place. I have managed to put the ignition back into the correct position along with the immobiliser and the car starts. I would like to know advice on getting this fixed. Costs etc as I am unaware of the steering column is hydraulic or electric. I wanted to get advice before I phone my insurance company today. My excess is 250 voluntary and 200 compulsory. 450 in total. All advice is welcome. Thank you
  3. Hello all, I have a Travelpilot NX Sat Nav/Audio unit installed in my 2008 S-Max which is no longer reading the maps correctly from the DVD. I have the 5.3 version of the software installed and the 2012 TomTom map DVD. I've ejected the disc and checked that it is clean and have tried resetting the unit but it has not improved matters. So my questions to the forum are: 1) Where is the best place to get the unit repaired/serviced? (In the Midlands preferably) 2) How much should I expect it to cost? 3) Can my 2008 unit be upgraded to include DAB radio or Bluetooth audio? 4) How do I get it out of the dashboard??? Many thanks in advance!
  4. Hi guys, I have just started the perfection process of my Mondeo that I picked up last weekend. How do I find a dealer or seller that will match my paint? I know that the paint reference number is on the driver side door frame, but can't seem to find any retailers. Guessing I only really need a touch up paint with gloss / laquer over the top. Upgrades on the go so far. - Osram Night Breakers Unlimited - New License plates (the current one is peeling) - Ford tyre dust cap covers Looking to tint rear 3 windows , but not sure whether or not to have a go myself or get a pro to do it. I did previously do my Grande Punto.
  5. Morning guys, Driving home last night I managed to get a decent chip / crack in my front screen. I've never had anything this bad before and although it's on the passenger side and not within my line of vision it's just about at the limits of what most advise for injection; not to mention annoying! I'm aware that the heated screens are fairly expensive, plus I also have auto lights / wipers. Therefore I'm looking for advice - Repair for free or get the screen replaced for £70? I'm not bothered either way, but considering the screen has gained a few small chips during the time Ive owned it, it's probably worth replacing. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks Stu
  6. Help Needed!

I own a mk6 Fiesta Zetec Climate 1.4. 55 plate, silver. It's done 65,000 miles and runs like a dream. I'm looking to sell it soon to get a 3 door focus zetec s, but it has two quite noticeable dents in the back corners. I know I can get about £1,900 for it without these dents but obviously not as much with them. I was wondering if you think it'd be worth repairing them before selling it would it be a waste of time and money? Thanks!
  7. Mk6 Repair

I have a 2004, Slovak spec, 1.3L Manual Fiesta. I crashed it about a year and a half ago and it's been sitting in my garage since. I live in Libya and they are not very big on them here, I couldn't sell it as a for-parts car nor could I find the parts for the repair. I was wondering if I can adapt an engine, transmission and the whole of the front end working from another car( Ford or non-Ford) just to get the car running again.
  8. Hi FOC Guys. About a month ago i bought the Superchips bluefin remap for my Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost (100 bhp). And i was REALLY possitive to feel the gains that the car got from the remap. But, now my car is going to the mecanic.!! my Release bearing in the clutch is done for it. I have never driven the car out to maximum rpm, but still the clutch is broken.!! £360 in repairs after just 80.000km in the car. Any one else with a re-mapped Fiesta, who have experienced this??
  9. There are loads of ways posted already of how to get into your bonnet, when the key lock doesn't work. Best one seems to be large screwdriver technique detailed elsewhere. 2 minute job. Having got the bonnet open. How to fix problem for good? (or do this before the lock fails!) My answer was to remove the grill and separate the keyhole lock from the grill. Separate the rubber grommet and pull it along the cable a bit. Get a suitable jubilee clip about 25mm diameter and slide it over the lock, along the cable part, over the rubber grommet and settling it about halfway along the white tube towards the bonnet catch. If you look carefully at the white tube you will see half its length is quite thin walled and gets more substantial as it gets nearer to the bonnet catch. Locate the jubilee clip on the weaker part. About 25mm to 30mm from the bonnet catch. The inner parts of the white plastic tube are able to slide in and out a bit. (This is why the lock fails.) It needs to be located into the bonnet catch. A big screwdriver and a bit of pressure inwards will achieve this. If you are a bit lost as to what needs to happen here then just take the bonnet catch off and have a look at the way it connects to the lock mechanism.( 2x 10mm bolts). Reassemble. Check the catch is working using the key when applying pressure inwards. In other words the parts are located correctly. Tighten up jubilee clip carefully until it collapses the tube slightly and grips the inner parts, whilst maintaining pressure inwards. The inner parts will no longer slide in and out. Jobs a good un.
  10. Just returned to my car to discover that someone has kicked the door panel of my new fiesta black edition. Nightmare guys. Anyone had any experience with people kicking their car? I'm really annoyed right now. Only 600 miles on my new car and now the door has been dented so badly that the whole panel has left a gap between the window about 1-2 inches thick. To add insult to injury, I had just spend 5 hours the previous day cleaning, claying and waxing the car. What should I do? :'(
  11. Interior Door Repair

Hi, I have a piece missing on the inside drivers door and wanted to know if there was any way I could repair it? Many thanks
  12. Broken Hub Nut

Anyone had issues with 2002 hub nut that holds the drum on. Cant get it off??
  13. Thanks for taking time to read this, Yesterday, while cleaning my fiesta, i discovered a 60cm long scratch on the rear side panel. The scratch can be slightly felt with fingernail. It appears white. Although my fiesta is 1999 mk4, it is pristine and running at 46,000 mls. I'm basically looking for any advice on a diy. fix. I've read many opinions on line but not sure what to do.
  14. Hello when I first got my car I changed the CD player and put a jvc one inside and only the driver side speaker is working, I would just like some help with solving the problem or if need be getting price on how much it will cost to fix
  15. Hi, I have an 08 mondeo estate. For a couple of weeks I have been having intermittent problems with the ignition. The key will turn to point one and two in the barrel but sometimes ( is getting more serious) it won't turn to point three to crank. I think it may be the ignition switch? Can I replace this without changing key? Thanks in advance :)
  16. Within 2 months of owning this, it's been involved in two accidents already. The first, nothing major, yet still ******* annoying. Parked down a street for about half an hour to pick something up from a shop round the corner, come back and I see a massive black mark across the passenger side of my car, found out it was rubber so most of it come off... this was what was left. No witnesses, no cameras.. typical. I went to a bodyshop about this and he quoted me £220.. I laughed and said bye. So then, two days ago, on my way to work, some idiot coming out of junction doesn't look left again and pulls out as i'm half way past him, then drives off... tried finding him, no luck. waiting on CCTV footage and a witness to come forward to give me the numberplate, was too annoyed at the time to even think of stuff like this. (I tried finding him for about half an hour). Funnily enough, it was MK6 Dark blue fiesta, although I doubt he takes much care of his car as any of the forum users. Anyway the damage done.. Got a quote for this from a bodyshop next door to the one above and the front wing/bumper for £340.. much better. Will need to get the alloy looked at aswell but this is a priority. Have any of you had anything similar and how much did it cost to get it repaired? Hopefully the culprit can be found and I won't have to pay anyway! Cheers,
  17. Hi there would appreciate any help from anyone..... :) Recently had car vandalsed - scratches up the passenger side of car - and car is now at the bodyshop for repairs through the insurance. Guy from the repair centrre called me today to offer help with the rust around the petrol cap as an extra - obviously this is a well known problem with Ford KA's and I have been told before that this problem comes from underneath behind the petrol cap so any repair or preventative treatment needs to start there. When I said this to him he started to say something about a seal - but I dont know enough to comment. He has offered 2 prices - one at £100 plus vat and one at £150 plus vat to repair with a guarantee. Can anyone help or give any advice on thsi? I have never had a quote to repair this before so have nothing to compare it with. many many thanks Fiona
  18. Hello good people I'm a new member with a questio. I own a very low mileage Focus Edge 2004 (midnight silver and less than 20,000 miles) and someone has run into the back bumper. Car was parked and I need to get the back bumper replaced and the back box of the exhaust as the impact has bent the pipe (and broken the bracket) making it unable to drive. The person has left a note and is willing to pay to get it repaired. Firstly I wanted to know which focus parts would be suitable replacements. Do normal focus (Marks 1 or 2) parts fit the edge model? I'd also like some guidance as how much to ask for to get it done. One garage has suggested £7-800 but this seems very high. Any help would be gratefully received..
  19. Window Seal Repair?

The little felt/brush things inside my doors that are supposed to wipe off excess moisture/rain on the windows when you roll them down/up don't seem to be quite doing the job. It always leaves a massive (like 80% of the window) wet patch on the middle of the window and only really touches the edges... Is there any way to fix this?
  20. I have a leak in my focus which I have now narrowed down to probably being either a windscreen leak or bulkhead. I was told by someone that taking it to a generic garage would not be the best thing to do, is this true? Can you recommend me somewhere better to take it so that I can finally stop my footwell getting damp! Thank you :)
  21. Hi All I would like to start by saying any help is majorly appreciated, Ive had a strange smell coming from my car (Focus Zetec S 1.8 Diesel) since december 2013. I had an initial visit to the garage with my engine light on, Lack of power and the egg/fuel like smell.I was told i required a software update on the PCM as it was over injecting fuel and i was also told this was a common fault with my model. I was approached with a 120 pound bill which i argued to get down to 60 pound as i only brought the car early 2013! The smell persisted and the engine light went on and off several times over the next week, It went back into the garage and i was told they could not find any fault and if it happens again they will take it and give me a courtesy car for a few days. It may come to shock some of you but the smell came back and brought its friend the engine light with it, with a assertive and !Removed! off tone i called the Ford garage and they booked me in for a full service as well as checking on the fault. As the week went on the smell went and the engine light did not come back on, I at first suspected the CAT but then began to think maybe it was the PCM fault they initially fixed meaning fuel was caught in the system somewhere. I did not tell them the smell had completely gone but did say it was much better, They tested the car did a full service and everything seemed fine (600 quid - 4 new tyres and front brake pads as well as service charge) but this week i have noticed the smell again and last friday my old pal the engine light came on for a few hours to make my night a bright one. I now find myself at a frustrating loss, Am i going mad or is this smell related to the engine light i see so sporadically. I would like to add the guys at the Ford garage are absolutely brilliant but as i said to them it does not bold well for me that i'm on a first name basis with people at the repair shop some 6-9 months after buying a 10 plate car. Any advice or response is massively appreciated Jon
  22. Just repaired my Durashift gearbox actuator using the procedure in the superb posting by Lasse1955: Starting a new post mainly because I somehow missed Lasse’s post two years ago when I forked out the thick end of a grand to have Ford dealer diagnose and replace Durashit (OOPs, genuine typo, but maybe it ought to stay uncorrected!). His post is the place to go but hopefully this will help point the way there. I just have a few minor points to make First, from all I’ve now read, the gearbox actuator problem diagnosed and sorted by Lasse ought to be the prime suspect if you have a Durashift failure that you can’t otherwise specify. Mine failed(nothing on gear selection display, warning light, no engine start) after just two years and 10K miles from installing a new unit. I only took off the actuator unit to eliminate from enquiries, as they say. It was stuck solid. Needed levering forcibly with a big screwdriver to release the rack. Getting the unit off the car involves just four Torx bolts. The top one is a fiend to get at, or even see without a mirror, but undo it first, not last, otherwise it’s even more tricky with the weight of the unit hanging on it. Otherwise, easy to reach the other bolts if you raise the car just a bit to get under with usual precautions. I’d really recommend forking out a tenner for a 16mm reameron Ebay. It might not be a top end tool but easily good enough to use on plastic. I went in from the bottom end with the reamer (the bottom end when unit on the car) on the basis that it might give better alignment/guidance of the tool. When re-assembling, you need to reset the rack with cogs in the right position. As it now moves freely in the sleeve/bush, it’s an idea to use adhesive tape or similar to hold the rack in place while fitting the gear to it. Might get back with photos if I can sort temporary blip with technology
  23. Hi There!

Hi all, I am currently driving in a 1.3 Fiesta Finesse which I have had for just over a year and I'm just looking for some advice on things to do to my fiesta to make look a bit cooler and general up keeping of my wee ford. Thanks for reading!
  24. 25. Ok, so its pretty warm right now, and my air con isnt working. For a start my fan only works on number 4, which i understand to be the resistor pack. but my main concern is my air con wasnt blowing cool air. i ran the air con, and i could hear it running, its been quite some time since i used it, considering last summer was cold and wet. could that inlfuence it? i did check the charge maybe 12 months ago, but havent used the air con since. but it didnt need charging then. any ideas what it could be? and how much it will cost to repair? this is beyond my capabilities so will pretty certainly need to take it to a garage of some kind.
