  1. So, I just bought my third Ford in a row (second Focus). Had the choice of a 15 plate with 10 miles on the clock or a 64 plate, 1 user, 3,000 miles but every safety feature under the sun included. I went for the 15 plate but now wondering whether it would be possible to have some of the safety features included on the other car to be installed on mine, or whether that has to be done on manufacture. I have a Titanium with active city stop, rear parking sensors and cruise control. Road sign and lane recognition and blind spot alerts would all be nice. I am wondering whether it is relatively easy to add on the features that use the forward facing camera behind my rear view mirror (ie whether it is just a case of updating the software used for the acitve city stop). I assume adding blind spot recognition would be pretty pricy as it would need side sensors and new wing mirrors? Does anyone have any experience of having such features installed by their dealer after purchase and the approximate cost?
  2. Hi, I need to replace a broken yellow drivers knee airbag electrical plug which is attached to a loom in the driver's foot well, a loom which also feeds the nearby driver's foot well courtesy light. It has just two wires into the plug from the loom and I think it would be easy to repair but is there anywhere that sells this item alone? I will try Ford but I do not want to replace the entire loom just for this one little plug which I suspect is integral to the loom. Is there somewhere online that specializes in Ford electrical plugs such as this? This plug is for a Ford Fiesta 2009 1.25 Petrol Zetec. Thanks, Gallantfive
  3. Hi, I have a 2007 Transit Connect Torneo LHD, I had a problem with the n/s/r stop and tail lamp connections, they kept touching when the bulb was inserted and blowing the fuse, unfortunately when I tried to move the contacts on one occasion I had left the lights on, this caused something to blow, not the fuse that had blown previously, I now can't find any fuse that is blown and I have now side lights. Any ideas please. Cheers Steve

  6. The Great Mk2 Leak Hunt

Hello all, My 2005 Mk2 Focus has recently developed a rather unpleasant smell. For a while i thought someone had left some pizza somewhere in the car, or slipped something nasty into the air intake as a screw you for parking in my spot :P. After some investigation i found that the carpet, cladding, and soundproofing underneath the drivers seat (rear passenger footwell) was wet, and undoubtedly the source of the smell. Now from reading the forums it seems to could be any number of things: Air Con drain tubePollen filter housing / pollen filterDoor sealsWindscreen sealsSunroof seals (luckily i have no sunroof)Heater matrixObviously this is a pretty long list of things to check in depth brandishing a little spray bottle of water. As some of them are more of a pain that others (looking at you heater matrix), does anyone have any suggestions to narrow down the problem, or things to quickly try and fix. I had wondered if the smell was linked to my coolant constantly needing a top up, but I found a rather leaky thermostat housing this weekend which has been re-sealed and seems to have cured that problem. Also any advice as to how I can dry out everything well, and get rid of that terrible terrible smell would be greatly appreciated, I swear its constantly in my nose now.

  8. I have never contributed to one of these forums before but have been trawling them for a solution to this problem and on every site people have said I need to reset my ECU or remove the battery. I have done both and neither worked. So I went back to basics and started checking the 'very' simple things. I noted that when I applied the brake pedal, both front and rear position lights came on... which lead me to believe that there was a short in the brake light system drawing down the intelligent lighting solution voltage etc etc. So I checked the bulbs and low and behold... I had fitted an incorrect brake light bulb on that side of the car and when I moved it to the other side it transferred the fault. When I removed the faulty light bulb (brake light on the NS) and reset the ignition, the fault cleared and I am back in business. Now just to replace the brake bulb with the correct type (double filament). Thought I would share this as the investigation has taken a bit of time and would have cost me quite a bit for a really simple solution. So in short, both position lights out, check the brake bulb on the same side first to ensure it is the correct type and not causing a short. Hope this helps!
  9. Ford Focus Titanium 61 Plate

Hi guy's. Just a few questions. Please bear with me. Question 1. Does supermarket fuel have an impact on mpg. Question 2. Door lights on the bottom of the door. They do not work, how do you switch them on. Question 3. Had new tyres fitted but mpg has dropped, any ideas. Many thanks Guys
  10. Hey all, I'm pretty new to these forums but just wanted to share with you something i came across whilst surfing the net recently, I found it pretty interesting. Although i would not say its what a "typical" ford owner is like... More what they are likely to enjoy or what demographic they are in. Have a read http://www.thecarpeople.co.uk/blog/ford-drivers/ Let me know if it matches you? If any of you happen to know what the hell mutton kromak is as well it would be a great help :D Hope you enjoy it! Cheers,

  12. Ford Focus 2010 Side Lights Issue

Hi, I've got a Focus Titanium 2.0 2010 model, and my side lights on one side are not working. Left side works fine but right doesn't light up. I've looked for a manual with the use diagram but cannot find the right one on the internet. They all talk about fuses starting at number 1. The fuse box on the passenger side starts at fuse 100. Through trial and error I've identified fuse 103 as the left hand side lights (as they went out when I took this out) and fuse 102 and 104 seem ok, tried them both in 103 and this worked. Does anyone know which fuse is for right side lights? Also if the fuse isn't the issue what could it be? Tried changing the bulbs by the way. Thanks Ian
  13. Hello,I have recently had a squeak from my front off side wheel. It has got progressively worse over time. It squeaks and whines heavily when you turn right and clunks when you turn left. There seems to be a bit of vibration in the track rod arm but the noise is a strange one. Any suggestions please?

  17. I know this has been asked before but how do you remove the car jack covers from the Zetec S side skirt. Back ones pop out ok but I swear down if I pull any harder on the front 2 I'm either going to crack the skirt or pull the hole thing off. I suspect they have never been removed since it left the factory... Any top tips ??
  18. I have arranged a group buy on fiesta mk7 side skirt extensions with Kev from triple r composites. He is willing to send them out at £90 delivered if I can get 15 people involved. They are normally £105 so £15 discount. So far I have 8 names. Anyone on here interested and want to put their name down?
  19. Leak :(

Hey guys, So I noticed a couple of weeks back that the driver's foot-well carpet was wet. I pulled back the carpet to find a pool of water. The insulation stuck to the carpet was soaked and the white insulation under the pedals was also soaked. It took me a week to dry with leaving the doors open and using a hair dryer. I disinfected all the insulation to prevent further mould. However I now have more water and am not totally sure where it's coming from. I am quite sure it is coming from the outside of the car, as it seems to be wetter after it has rained, but can't be 100%. The water seems to be coming from under the white insulation that lies under the pedals, but I obviously can't see right under it as the insulation only pulls up so far. Any ideas? I am looking to take it for the windscreen to be looked at. I was told to take it to a windscreen and sunroof specialist as they will have more specific knowledge of where to look to find the leak. I don't want to take it to a garage and it be there for days costing me loads of money. I can't seem to find any windscreen or sunroof specialists around Leicester though. Any help would be most appreciated. The car is a 2006 Focus 1.8 TDCI MK2.
  20. hello all am new here so sorry if put this in the wrong place. anyway for the last couple of night had some lads try taking my car (1990 mk4 escort bonus) they crashed it into my wall (left drivers door open < tuck out my wall) before they could get anywhere (so i am very lucky) i have managed to beat the door back into good shape so i am after a door at the right price (radiant blue) preferred but any will do or just the glass near Dudley if pos but am willing to travel :) sorry again if have put this in wrong place thanks trev
  21. I wonder if anyone can help with this problem. My 97 Escort Ghia wagon has two driver's seat adjustments, one is the simple forward / back slide, the other is a seat height/tilt, this one has locked in the full tilt position, how can I undo this please. Also lokking under the seat I found some electrial wires going to the seat and also to what looks like an electrical tube socket, this is the same for each of the front seats, Any ideas please.

  23. Hi all, I have recently bought a 2010 (60 plate) Black Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 Petrol- overall happy with it but have noticed a distinct clunk or more of a spinging noise when i change from 1st to 2nd gear. It doesn't happen everytime but i recon about 70% of the time i hear this noise, i have taken it to the garage they can't see any problems with it and they have taken it for a drive and have not heard to noise. Has anyone had a similar problem of know if this is a common problem? It sounds like it is coming right out of the drivers footwell and it is loud enough for a passenger to hear as they have noticed it too. Any help/ advise would be greatly apprecaited. Thank you.
  24. Hello all I very recently emptied the piggy bank and bought my first Ford. A September 2012 Focus Zetec-S 2.0 Diesel. It's good. Apart from the awkward glove box design!... And... Now the colder weather has set in I've had the heater on and noticed that whilst the vents located on the centre console work extremely well, there seems to be nothing coming out of the vents on the right of the steering wheel and the left of the glove box. Whilst the vents on the centre console are opened and closed with the control next to each of them, the side vents don't seem to have any individual controls for them. Is that right? I've tried each of the settings on the control which switches between blowing on the screen/feet & screen/feet only/feet and face/face only. Selecting any of these doesn't make a difference. Am I missing something? My right hand is getting cold during the morning commute! Thanks in anticipation
  25. Hi, I have a ford fiesta Zetec 5 door, theres a rather large dent in my offside driverside wing panel, ive ordered a new one however was wondering how hard is it to fit it myself? technically able, have replaced the bumper before, however is the wing welded? anyway around it? or is it fairly cheap to take the new part to a garage/bodyshop and have them just swap it over? ballpark figure? thanks to everyone on this forumn, love reading through, never thought id be posting myself one day, but you lot are the experts! forgot to mention its a mk7 2009 model. part cost £40, would not be willing to spend £200 to replace it when a part is £40. thanks!
