Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Morning all I own a ford focus CL 2003 and along with many others my bonnet lock has failed. I have ordered the lock repair kit from ford but I can find a decent tutorial on how to code the barrel to my key and fit the new barrel and rod. The catch is working fine - the barrel and rod is missing. Can anyone help !! Thanks Liam
  2. Hi, so basically I have a 07 Fiesta, this particular model has a fixed key with buttons and the actual key sticking out, I was wondering if it's possible to purchase a flip key and program it to work that way? If possible could anyone recommend a certain model of key and instructions?
  3. Replace locks on Mk7 Fiesta

Hi all, We recently purchased a MK7 fiesta as a second car for the missus, that unfortunately came with just one key from a private seller. I'm aware that's quite common, but being a bit obsessed about security, i'm thinking of replacing the locks. I can probably source the parts from a breaker and fit them myself in hope the overall cost would be slightly higher than buying a second key (with fob) and getting it cut. I'm just wondering if i really need to source the ECU or could do without it. I've seen some sellers giving you the speedo and ECU together with the lock barrels, but my (limited) experience tells me that shouldn't be required, unless it's something to do with the immobilizer. I was thinking i need the following: Ignition barrel Driver's door barrel (without the mechanism) Delete any existing fobs and reprogram the new ones (Is this possible using ELM?) Are those correct? Did i forget anything? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I have a 2007 s-max titanium and the key will not unlock the car via the buttons. I have installed a new battery and tried reprograming the key , but to no avail. So i did a code read and im getting Error Code U201F - External Receiver ive looked at the reciever and the wiring looks fine as do the internals. are these common to fail or am i looking at something else? Kind regards hybrid
  5. Hi all i am trying to get another keyfob programmed for my 2014 ST however when the guy plugs in his device into the OBD port he does not get any power. I have been told to check all fuses and after sending it to a car electrics specialist he says all fuses are fine and present and that there is another deeper problem. Has anyone experienced this before?
  6. Fiesta MK7 key change

I've recently bought two new keys for my fiesta (not official ford keys) as i prefer flip up keys to the standard ford key. One of the keys i've bought has no internals and is designed so that the internals of my original key fits straight into it so the key only needs to be cut. If i had the key cut and switched the internals with my origional key, would i need to have it coded in any way or would there be no issues with the immobiliser? The second key i bought has internals but needs to be cut and coded to work with my car, would i be able to do the coding myself or would that require me having both original keys for my car? (I only have one) also what would you expect the cost of having a key cut ans coded be? Would it be cheaper or possible to do using a diagnostics tool? Thanks in advance for any help!
  7. Remote not working

The remote on my 2010 fiesta is not working. I have replaced the battery but it is still not working. Any one know why and if I can fix it myself?
  8. I lost my last set of car keys a few days, and as I didn't want to pay the rather extortionate amount of money that an official dealership wanted to charge to replace all the locks and immobiliser system, I went to an unofficial locksmith, who cut me a correct key but was unable to program the transponder in the key correctly. A day later I actually found my original key, however when I attempted to start the car with it it came up with the immobliser malfunction message. I've seen some places recommend unplugging the battery for 10/15 minutes to reset the electronics system, however don't know if this will work and also don't know if this will stop my original key from working, just looking for any advice/technical info on what might happen if i disconnected the battery or if I did anything else with the car.
  9. Hi posted a couple of weeks ago about a really strange and frustrating problem with my 2009 ford fiesta 1.6 diesel tdci. I have since taken to ford and auto electrician with no luck of solving the issue and am in desperate need of help to get an answer to why my fiesta starts intermittently. Any help would be much appreciated. I have narrowed down the issue to that of the immobiliser flashing rapidly causes the car not to start, the car does this intermittently and always starts first time when i go out to it in the morning or the first drive of the day after that it will play up and start intermittently maybe after 8 attempts of turning the key back and forth. I was told by for that it was the ECU and will cost 1600 quid to repair but find that hard to believe and them trying to rob me of my money. I feel the answer to my problem is simple and has to be to do with this immobiliser flashing rapidly and causing the car not to start. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance
  10. So I just went out to my car and the fob wouldn't unlock it. I tried my spare and still nothing. Changed the battery and still nothing. I can open the car with the key but obviously it sets the alarm off! Any ideas what this could be and how much it will cost to fix? Thanks in advance!!
  11. Reprogramming key?

Hi Guys, Really simple question here. I recall seeing somewhere either on this forum or a different site that it is possible to program the MK2.5 central locking key to double lock the car when you hit the lock button once (instead of the standard - twice within 3 seconds). There was something to do with holding down two of the buttons at the same time for a couple of seconds but I just cant remember and for the life of me I can't find instructions anywhere! I recently got into the habit of double locking so I can see the indicators flashing from a distance to let me know the car is locked. Any help is appreciated!
  12. Removing MyKey

Hi I just bought a Fiesta ST a couple of weeks ago and got bored in traffic one day and played with the My Key setting, now my car is perminantly on the 80mph limit etc. Ive read everywhere about turning the setting off but I only have that one key? Is there another way of turning MyKey off with only one key? Thanks Noah
  13. No remote key

Apologies if this has been posted before. I have spent sometime looking but it's difficult to find a post that answers all of my queries for my specific situation. I recently purchased a 2013 Ford Mondeo Estate 2.0 TDCi but the car only came with 2 normal keys (see attached image), no remote key was supplied. These keys are a real pain because I have to open the drivers door, put the key in, and switch on the ignition before anyone else can open a door. if I don't do this the alarm will go off. We I look on eBay I can see that there are a lot of uncut key fobs for sale at a reasonable price but no one is selling a key for 2012 and above Mondeos. I have found a few keys which are the I think are specification I need but they go for £60 plus. Whats more, they fob seems to be a key-less entry system. The manual that came with my car explains how to program a new key but putting the key in the ignition and following a procedure but I'm not sure how this would work with a key-less system. Could someone please shed some light on this for me? Specifically, I'd like to know: What are my options ie am I forced to get a key-less fob or could I also get a remote key? Can I program the key myself? Is there anyway I can go about this for a reasonable price? If I get a remote key and program it, will it also switch off the alarm? Apart from this problem I am happy with the car and am enjoying driving it. Chris.
  14. Hi Everyone, I bought a Mondeo MK3 about a year ago, and the seller said that the central locking - unlock "didn't work". I've taken apart the key fob and there is no button on the actual circuit board like there is with the lock and boot buttons. I popped into a Ford dealership, but they're wanting to charge about £195 for a replacement key and programming. My question is, can I purchase a replacement board myself (and if so where from and what would I type in to "search for") and then program it myself (I assume it's just a case of putting the key in the ignition, twisting forward and back 2-3 times and pressing the button etc. to program the key (at least it was like that with my old Corsa). If anyone knows where I can get a board from and the programming instructions, I'd be most thankful.
  15. Hi everyone, my key on my focus mk2.5 has stopped working. I have changed the battery and tried doing the reset thing by turning the ignition on and off 5 times quickly, that resulted in a single beep and when I pressed one of the buttons a few times for the next step I got nothing. I tried holding the button, I tried pressing the button repeatedly a few times, I tried it in the ignition and out of the ignition, but still got nothing. I lost my normal key yesterday and this is me using my spare so don't know if the key is simply broken. As I remember though my original key slowly decided to gradually not want to unlock it from distances. Any help would be appreciated!

  17. hi guys, probably been done to death but iv just bought a ford fiesta 2014 which only came with one key (the electronic remote type). Roughly how much will it cost me to get a spare key made from an auto locksmith? Also is it worth making sure the spare is also the electronic remote type or would it make more sense to get a manual key? Im based in the sheffield area if anyone knows any good auto locksmiths. Best price i have been quoted so far is 65 for manual key and 125 for electronic Thanks in advance James
  18. Hi, I' ve just purchased a Ford Focus Style 1.4 2006 plate. The car has 3 keys- 1 being central unlocking system remote. The car didn't unlock using the remote key so i put a new battery in the key fob- and its still not unlocking/locking the car. I have to use the key manually to unlock. Can anyone give me some advice? The engine starts etc and unlocks manually, i just cant unlock/lock car remotely Do i need a code to make this work again? Will the key be faulty? is there anywhere i can take it to be looked at? Thanks
  19. Replacing lost focus remote fob

So, I've lost my 3 button remote key fob for my 55 plate Focus. I don't want to pay Ford £££££££ for a new one and I've seen posts here about getting the but and reprogramming new fobs yourself?
  20. Hi, Recently brought a Ford Fiesta climate style and it came with 2 keys One 3 button remote key, One without any buttons with a Blue chip on it. 2 keys are like I am thinking to get another spare key cut, Just in case if I lost the main remote key... As I believe these comes with Transponders I am thinking to get the following from ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252146887816?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Get this cut at lock smiths and program with the routine instructions.. My Question is will I be able to program the transponder without going to a auto locksmith? Thanks in Advance. Regards, Ashok
  21. Hi all, I have an 02 plate Focus 1.6 Ghia which I bought with only 1 key. Its the non-remote type with the blue clip in it. I wanted to get the remote central locking working before I splash out on a full remote key (can't afford it at the moment) so I bought these - 2x Replacement Keyless Entry Remote Key Clicker Transmitter for Ford UK Ship New and have followed all the guides I can find online to program them but I cannot get the car to recognise them. If I turn the key between II and 0 4 times I get the beep to say it's entered programming mode but I cannot get it to do anything else when pressing the keys on the fobs. Am I doing something wrong? I'd like to make sure this works before I go to the expense of getting a proper Ford replacement remote key. Thanks in advance everyone

Hi, hoping someone has a quick fix :) cannot lock my car using the key fob. I recently changed the speakers in the front two doors so had to remove the pannels. When I put them back on the key fob no longer worked. I have changed the battery on the key fob and disconnected the cars battery all without any joy. Does anyone know why it isn't working or any possible remedy's? Model: ford S Max 2007 titanium 2.5 Thanks inadvance stephen

  24. I'm able to pull the transponder and the blade apart, but have no clue how open the blade part to see if the spring just needs tightening before I buy a new one?
  25. Fiesta Keys

Hello, Looking for a bit of help. Just bought a 10 plate Fiesta 1.6 diesel Econetic. Unfortunately it only came with one key - a static basic looking car key with the buttons. Am I right in thinking this is the 2nd key and that there should be a flip-up key? I'm not sure when the new keys were introduced, but a friend with a Fiesta from the latter end of '10 (Mine was first registered in March) has two flip keys. If you could provide with more info that would be great! Just want to make sure I'm getting what I should be from the dealer (they are ordering in a second key). Thanks!
