Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Here's a new one! I lent on my keys which were in my front pocket of my jeans while gardening and all the windows of my Edge opened at the same time! How did that happen? TC
  2. When I got my Fiesta 2008-2012, 1.25L Duratec DOHC EFI(80PS), Vision from an auction it didn't come with any remote keys, so I naturally assumed that it didn't have remote locking. However, the keys I received are quite clearly spares or replacement ones. After checking my vehicle summary on FordEtis, it says that my car is "With Door Entry Remote Control Unit" - I think it's fair to assume that this means my car can have remote keys. When I phoned my local Ford dealer they gave my a quote of around £200 to get new remote keys. I think that's maybe a bit too much to pay for small luxury. Reading the manual for my car makes it seem like a piece of cake to programme a new key - I just buy the key I want, get it cut, and then program it myself- Is it that easy?? Will it not work because the two keys I have don't have remote features? Will programming it like this cause any problems for the immobiliser? Thanks for any help.
  3. I have just gotten my first ford, a beautiful mk2 ford focus titanium, i want to protect my key and i am looking for a key cover, i can find ones with the key but not keyless, any help ? Thank you :)
  4. Ford Focus Year: 2002 I bought a used Ford Focus about a week ago. After buying it it has just been standing on my parking space unused, but now it won't open with any of my keys in any way! Have tried both keys in both driver and passenger doors but nothing at all happens when the key is turned. Have also tried changing battery in the key, but remote won't work either. So now I can't get inside the car! (The hood can be opened manually with a key, if it matters) Please help! What could be wrong and how can I fix this?
  5. Hi, I have recently purchased a 2007 Ford Focus Sport. When I picked it up from the garage the car was already open so I put the key in and drove away as you would. When I got home I couldn't lock the car as the remote central locking on the key wouldn't work, but would work when I inserted the key into the drivers side lock. I took the key to be tested and they confirmed that there was a signal from every button so the fault wasn't with the key. I noticed a message on the dash which said the car was in 'Shipping Mode' which I understand turns off some of the cars features to save on the battery which would make sense if it has been on a forecourt. Last night I somehow managed to turn the 'shipping mode' off and then reprogrammed the key by turning it 4 times to II so it is in learn mode then pressing they within the 20 second time frame which did work. The car unlocked and locked using the remote key fob. I have gone to go to work this morning, the car opened fine with the remote fob, got to work and tried to lock the car and it didn't work. So I have reprogrammed it again this morning, it opened fine but the lock button didn't work So reprogrammed it again and both the open and lock buttons worked. I have just gone back to the car and now nothing works again. Any ideas what this could be as it appears to be losing sync with the car and the garage we bought it from is now ignoring our call and have conveniently turned the phone off! Thanks
  6. Lost All Keys - now what?!

Hello, This is my first post on this forum so please be nice. Its on behalf of my Dad actually who has gone and lost all (and i mean ALL) the keys to his 2002 Fiesta Hatchback 1.3 Finesse. I was wondering what (if anything) we can do about this. We don't obviously have any keys to program from and we've bought a blank key with no transponder than thankfully opens the drivers door but thats about it Do we need to go back to the dealer for this or can we program a new key with transponder from the car (using laptop and ODB2 connection?) Any help would be much much appreciated. Thanks Lee
  7. HI I have a 2008 Ford Focus which someone attempted to break into. They seemed to have driven something into the key whole on the drivers side. Now when I put the key in the keyhole it seems to go the whole way in but will not turn. Since there is only one keyhole on the focus I am concerned that if the key fob dies I cannot get into my car. Any suggestions on how I can fix this. Is there any way I can get a key barrel to replace the broke one even if it means another key to open the door manually Thanks
  8. Stolen Keys

Hi, I'm hoping people can offer their advice/experience. Overnight somebody stole my 2011 Fiesta Zetec with the keys but they also took the spare key (which was sitting next to my keys) to my brother's 2007 Fiesta Zetec Climate. All the usual stuff has been done in terms of recovering my car (the low-lives have damaged it) and police contact etc. But typically my insurance doesn't cover me for a courtesy car whilst in for repair but covers stolen keys and my brother's insurance cover a courtesy car but hasn't got key cover- typical!!!! The short way of putting it is... what are my options? Can I/dealer reprogramme keys and ignition/replace locks? What is the lowest cost option. Would really appreciate any help! Thanks
  9. Hi, I've just gotten my first Ford Fusion. It's a 2004 1.4 tdi and drives like a dream, but sadly I'm locked out. I'm having to climb in through the boot to open the doors from the inside. Have I done something to cause this, like a deadlock or something or has gone wrong that needs fixing? Any help or ideas would be warmly welcomed. Thanks!
  10. I have a Mk 6 Fiesta (Zetec, Climate). As far as people have told me, it is capable of remote central locking, but just didn't come with a remote key when I bought it second hand (it was only supplied with the standard 'passive' engine/door lock/immobiliser key (with a blue 'chip' in it). If I wanted to add RCL, is it easy/cheap to do? Also, how might I check once and for all whether it actually has the ability to lock remotely? The lights flash when I lock it manually with the engine key, if that means anything. It also has a boot popper button in the dashboard, and I'm 90% sure it has an immobiliser. Anybody know?
  11. Hi im sure this has been asked before but I cant seem to find the topic anywere. i only have one key for my car, this key is really really worn so worn that a copy cannot be taken from it, it does not operate the doors anymore and ignition will soon follow im sure, iv never had the small tag that normally comes with keys from new, would ford give me this code if i took my logbook in free of charge so that i can go and get it cut, or is there somewhere on the car that this code is printed, hope one of you guys can help thanks,
  12. Hi. My 1999 mondeo estate only has one key and it looks different to the keys in the manual. Mine has only two buttons on it , one with a triangle and the other with two. I've took it to pieces to fit a new battery but it had 3 in it, and the manual said it has one cr3032??. Also over the little bulb is a red piece of plastic and a 4 digit code number and sticker. Can Anyone help at all with this ?. Dont know whick batteries to fit etc.
