Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Replacing lost focus remote fob

So, I've lost my 3 button remote key fob for my 55 plate Focus. I don't want to pay Ford £££££££ for a new one and I've seen posts here about getting the but and reprogramming new fobs yourself?
  2. Lost All Keys - now what?!

Hello, This is my first post on this forum so please be nice. Its on behalf of my Dad actually who has gone and lost all (and i mean ALL) the keys to his 2002 Fiesta Hatchback 1.3 Finesse. I was wondering what (if anything) we can do about this. We don't obviously have any keys to program from and we've bought a blank key with no transponder than thankfully opens the drivers door but thats about it Do we need to go back to the dealer for this or can we program a new key with transponder from the car (using laptop and ODB2 connection?) Any help would be much much appreciated. Thanks Lee
  3. Hi Gang I put this problem on Talkford a few weeks ago but didn't get much support so I'm hoping that someone on here has got a clue to what is wrong with my car. My car is a 2007, MK4 Mondeo Titanium X, TDCi 2.0 Diesel, manual gearbox, 140PS and 130k miles on the clock. For a few weeks I've been hearing a squealing sound whenever I'm in 5th gear, and only 5th gear. It's the kind of noise you hear from a train as it pulls up to a station, a high pitched metallic squealing. I was able to accelerate through the problem after a few seconds. It was like a very heavy/clunky automatic gearbox shake when it cleared. I've been living it because I couldn't figure out for certain what it was. I've suspected a vacuum hose split, vacuum solenoid sticky, turbo actuator sticking, gearbox oil needs changing all seem to lead to a dead end. 4th and 6th gear have no problem at all. Tonight, driving home I heard the squeal even before I put my foot back on the throttle, just as I lifted the clutch pedal. Now, I have no 5th gear at all. When attempting to select 5th gear now it's like selecting neutral, just no drive at all. I've spent hours searching online for anyone who's had a similar problem but can't find anything. It seems to me that the gearbox is knackered but I've never experienced such a rapid onset of a problem like this. I heard no crunching, whirring, grinding or anything unusual from the gearbox since I bought the car around 4 months ago. Only work I've had done is a new cambelt, aux belt, water pump (other side of the engine), air and oil filters and that's it. It's starts, runs and drives in all other gears perfectly. If anyone knows anything about these MMT6 gearboxes, I'd appreciate a suggest. Maybe a selector fork failed? I dunno. Cheers
  4. Yesterday I got my first car, a 53 Ford Fusion 2 1.4 Petrol. Unfortunately it only came with one key, and I would prefer to have a spare available. How would I go about retrieving/buying/having a new one made? Any help would be appreciated!
  5. No Keys For Mondeo

Hi all, I'm new here so please forgive me if I make any 'forum faux pas'. I've got a real problem, my neighbour broke into my house last year and stole ALL of my car keys. This includes 2 mk3 Mondeos and 2 mk5 Transits. Now, I've found out (I think) everything I need to do to get them working again (the local dealers are as useful as a chocolate teapot, they just want £600 per car for new keys, etc), I just want to confirm with anyone if this is all I need to replace: All the locks, the transponder ring around the steering column, and the ECU behind the glove box. This is for both the Trannies and the Mondies. Is there anything else I'm missing? Also, are lock/ immobilisers from different models (ie. mk2s) compatible? I haven't taken any apart yet cos I know I'll lose the important bits! But there are loads of ST24s being broken near me. And the final question: Is anyone breaking such vehicles and how much do you want for the lock/ immobiliser system? I'm on the Isle of Wight which is quite awkward... All help much appreciated :)
  6. Lost Key

Hi Guys, I lost my main car key last night (using the spare just now). Not quite sure if it was outside or it's hiding inside the girlfriends house. Anyway, I was wondering what the best thing to do is? I have a spare, uncut, uncoded key but I'm not sure whether I should go the whole hog and get the ignition barrel, etc replaced? If it's outside and someone tried to use it with the codes changed, would they still be able to open the car? I'm not that clued up when it comes to lock-smithery! Any advice?
