  1. Hi my stop start has stopped working. On the test menu it shows my battery as 11.4v with everything off. Is that healthy enough for the system to work. Done a 20minute trip down the motorway last weekend and had everything off as approaching the city and it still didn't activate. Anyone else had same issue. Or know a fix. Thanks
  2. I have the premium Sony sound system with the 10 speakers in my car. I keep losing the centre and sub woofer randomly when driving and it won't return until the car is powered down for a while. The head unit has been replaced, and this still hasn't fixed it. Curiously this started happen after a software to try and fix other issues with the previous head unit. Does anyone know if there is still a separate dsp/amp in the MK3.5 or is it now contained in the head unit its self? I am going to call Ford directly and see what they have to say about the matter as my dealer is running out of things to try and things to replace!

  4. How do i remove reat seats

    You may have seen an earlier post/thread by me about fitting seats from an ST into my Focus Zetec. I bought seats, and have fitted both the front seats and the base for the rear seats... however i'm having some difficulty working out how to get the rear seatbacks out, so I can fit the new ST ones. Any help would be much appreciated, as I want to finish fitting the seats so I can sell the old ones...
  5. Right. Seriously not looking to start a discussion here about what tuning method is best - I know we all have different ideas based upon different experiences and different research. Originally I poopooed (heehee ) the idea of these tuning boxes, having read many horror stories about problems with engines after installing. However, this was based upon (my) zero knowledge of different tuning methods or reading myself on how these boxes work. It seems that most of the naysayers are folk who are really talking about the 'early-days' tuning boxes, ie, a resistor in a comparatively giant plastic box that eats turbos, however looking for actual reviews on Arachnids specifically there seems to be nothing but good from all walks of life, on all vehicles and for months and months after installing (presumably the owners stop banging on about it after a while but it still continues to work flawlessly!) Stephen @madmole, I'm really looking at you here - as the biggest advocate for these things (I saw what must be your review btw =)) I'm looking for as much information as you can give if that's ok? I don't really want a sales pitch as I've been on their website already, but as much detailed information about installation, setup, usage and removal (if you have) from your own personal experience as you can would be massively appreciated and just maybe, we might be able to encourage a few more folk that this could be the way to go? I've got the thing sat in a cart with the FOC30 discount code already applied (thanks for that). There was apparently a 'sp40' code for 40% off, but that's now expired. My finger is hovering over the 'pay now' button and I think I need that final push. The other thing I MUST consider is the insurance impact. My insurance already almost doubled when coming to this car from my 1.6 petrol Mk1 as I was halfway through the year and want to get the NCB (I went on my own insurance quite late on and only have 4 years). If this is going to massively hike it then it may put the kibosh on anyway cos there ain't no way in hell I'm not telling them about it. Obviously I know that noone can really tell me but my insurance company but others' experience would be welcome. Anyone else who has one, please share - good and bad. Anyone else who HAD one and went for something else with better results, please share - when and why. Anyone else who is going to tell me that it will kill my engine and not to buy one: unless you were on the design or build team for them or unless this happened to YOU and not your cousin's sister's dog's breakfast's brother; thank you but no thank you.

    OK so I would really like some drls but £200+ for oems just ain't gonna happen. That sort of money would be put towards a remap. So I'm looking at these 'fang' style ones. Adding a link is a pain from my phone but I'm sure you know what I mean. I think Keifer put some on his. They're about £60 from 'UK' sellers and about half that from Hong Kong. Now I am well aware of Chinese quality issues but I was wondering if anyone had had positive experience of these and if there is actually any difference to the same style sold by apparently UK sellers. Is the only difference being patient enough to wait a month for them to arrive do you think?
  7. Hi, i have installed a K&N 57s into my Focus MK3 ST TDCi however after a min or so the car goes into limp mode. I have checked the filter is fitted correctly and also reset the KAM but still get the same issue. Has anyone got this filter fitted to the same car and got it working? Thanks Chris

    Has anyone done the LED front and rear indicators with external ballast/resistors? Can I have a soundoff of which bulbs and resistor values you used and where you got them from please? Ta muchly

  11. Mk3 mystery plug...

    Mmmmk. So. In taking the passenger footwell side panel off to wire in an illuminated gear knob, I discover an empty socket and a foam-wrapped plug which apparently will fit it but isn't plugged in. All the wires are there in both plug and socket so I'm wondering if anyone knows what the heck it's for??! The red and black socket here is at the front of the passenger footwell. And this little chap is completely encased in very sticky foam. Ford definitely did not want me plugging that in, but I'd like to have an idea what it does before I do =]]
  12. Mk3 Bulb List and LEDs

    Sorry if this has already been done... I know Danger's excellent sticky for bulbs (found HERE) has a huge list of bulbs types for Mk1 through to 2.5, but doesn't seem to cover Mk3 (at least, not in the first post and there's over 200 more posts to look through to check for each bulb!) So I thought I'd post up bulb types for the Mk3 (and 3.5 if different) but also a sort of guide for those looking to replace with LEDs (as I hope to do). As I swap more on my car and hopefully as others post info I'll add it to the first post so there's a quick reference guide up for folk. I want to add other helpful information too, like whether the led's are simply plug and play or need some modifications, the wattage of the original (so people can judge what LEDs to buy for comparative brightness) and maybe people's recommendations or things to watch for. Please feel free to correct anything I post if wrong. I'll start the ball rolling with the list from my handbook though I think it has a few missing and I may need some clarification on which bulbs it actually refers to! If anyone wants to share a guide I'll happily link to it Bulb - Fitting - Wattage - Plug & Play / Mod Req'd Mk3 Front & Rear Indicator - 581 (PY21W) - 21w - Mod == Separate resistors required in parallel to the bulbs to prevent Hyper-Flashing. Possible heat issue as resistors can get hot. Headlamp Main Beam - H1 - 55w - ?? == Have seen some conversion kits, but I think LEDs aren't road legal in UK for main and dipped beam? I think I'll stick with some white halogens. Headlamp Dipped Beam - H7 - 55w - ?? == Handbook specifically states to replace with the same rating just for these bulbs. Cornering Lamp - H1 - 55w - ?? == Thought these were the fogs but... Front Fog Lamp - H11 - 55w - P&P == Not sure if Canbus friendlies are needed Side Lamp - 501 (W5W) - 5w - P&P == Canbus friendly required. Some people have had flickering issues with cheaper LEDs Side Repeater - 501 (WY5W) - 5w - P&P == Canbus friendly required to prevent dash errors, but no hyperflashing as long as front and rear indicators are stock or correctly resisted. Stephen (MadMole) has a great guide to removing the wing mirror panels HERE which gives access to these and puddle lights if fitted. Approach Lamp - 501 (W5W) - 5w - P&P == Think this means mirror puddle lamps in Ti and Ti-X. Limited space to fit the bulbs in so I wouldn't get too large a replacement. Stephen (MadMole)'s guide HERE. Brake and Tail Lamp - 380 (P21/5W) - 21w/5w - ?? == Anyone here done this? Fo Fans has a guide but most of the pictures are missing. Tail Lamp - 501 (W5W) - 5w - ?? == Assuming this is rear numberplate lights? If so, my Ti seems to have LED's already. Are these simply Plug & Play from 'cands? Rear Fog Lamp - 382 (P21W) - 21w - ?? == Anyone swapped these? Reversing Lamp - 955 (W16W) - 16w - P&P == Is the handbook correct?? They're push fit wedges?! I know a lot of folk have swapped these for Cree LED's with great success. Luggage Compartment Lamp - 501 (W5W) - 5w - P&P == My Ti has one either side, not sure if only one in Zetecs. There's no reflector in these lights so a COB LED (panel type) or a bulb with lots of SMD's on the sides will throw the light out better. Remove the lens with a small screwdriver on the short side nearest the back seats. I found it helpful to drop the back seats to get at them. That's it for the handbook. Glovebox Lamp - 501 (W5W) - 5w - P&P == This looks like a sod to get to, probably need to remove the glovebox to do. No reflector here either so another COB is a good idea. I'll post a guide when I get around to it =] Dome Lights - ?? - ?? - ?? == Already LED's in mine so need some info here. Are there also rear domes in Zetecs? Also, does anyone know if there are bulbs behind the door reflectors? I'm sure mine lit up at one point with the ambient lights but they don't seem to now...

    Hi guys anyone here have managed or saw a mk3 2011, 2012 and 2013 focus that used to have the stranded blue screen and has upgraded to the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 touchscreen with sat nav and all the goodies! I've seen lots of this screens up on eBay and they are going for good prices and don't want to buy it and then it doesn't fit or maybe it fits from what i see but maybe it won't work. Thanks hope someone out there has answers as i really need an upgrade .
  14. Hi everyone, I am new to this and I have a mk3 2012 Ford Focus and I love this car to bits. Anyway I was wondering if you all can help me by answering if anyone with a 2012 focus or 2013 managed to change the radio to the one with the screen and sync like the 2016/17 Ford Focus or like the 2013 Ford ST screen with the sat nav and like the original Radio not the android one or the once you get in Radio shops. hope people have answers as I a need a screen in my car, that's the only thing missing in the car
  15. Hi All I have 2012 UK Focus MK3 Titanium and I'm looking in to what is required to change the interior Ambient Lighting to the multi-colour option you get with the Titanium X. At present I do have the ambient lighting but it's the fixed red colours. I have foot well, front door storage and handle area along with the cup holder area lighting up in red. I've checked the wiring to the foot well and there is a cable with 3 wires going in to the current red LED, but the LED board only makes use of two of them. So I was wondering if it's the same wiring? I am aware I will need to purchase the new multi colour LED's from Ford and also the Titanium X control module near the interior sunglasses holder to the attached image (I just have a blanking plate in mine) Is there anything else required? Has anyone tried? Thank you kindly. J

As title, can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether a sync-era display and sony branded radio can be fitted to a non-sync (BT/VC system) car, and bluetooth still work - less bothered about nav voice control, but voice control in general I could also do with keeping functional.   17. New Ford Focus mk3 facelift

    Hello everyone. I recently traded in my mondeo st for something a lot newer and it was a sad day but it needed to happen. I have driven it about for a few days but it seams that there is something wrong with the parking sensors. When I come to a stop or low speed my front sensors come up and go straight to red as if something is really close to the car but it isn't. Could any of you shine a light onto this as to what I possible could be? Sorry this isn't the best explanation but I don't know how else to explain it. Cheers now Jon.
  18. Im wanting to buy some alloys if anyone is selling some (Not after the ford alloys). Just unsure on whether to stay with 18"s or to go 19"s. I have coilovers at the moments which needs to be fitted so can adjust to any height. Also Wanting to get the ST Flat Bottom Steering wheel which i need to know will fit my car and also if the cruise control function will work as i don't have that. I know that you need to mess around with a software to enable it but just want to know if i get the buttons and the wiring for it will it be a plug and play sort of thing with enabling it through a software or is it more harder than i think. Any suggestions on what mods to do to my car feel free. MODS DONE SO FAR: ST SPOILER, LIGHT SMOKE TAIL LIGHTS, HEKO WIND DEFLECTORS, DECHROMED, DEBADGED, GEL BADGE OVERLAYS, REAR WIPER DELETE. Thanks

  20. Hi, I've got an 03 tdci that is coming up to the big 100 km marker. I was thinking for its struggles I'd do a bit if a suspension overhaul. I've got a knocking from the rear offside corner which is really like to cure and a going shock on the rear nearside. The points for my overhaul so far are: - new shocks and springs all round. - new rear drop links. - maybe have the rear subframe off and undercoat it (I've done the rear subframe bushes already and wished ever since I'd tidied the subframe up then) - rear anti-roll bar bushes So my real question is if I'm spending the time stripping all the rear suspension and some of the front is there anything else worth doing while I have the access?
  21. think its about time i done something about the performance of my 1.6 tdci focus, now the question is do i go for a tuning box or a good old remap? Anyone had any experiences with tuning boxes specifically from TDItuning or Racechip seem rather intrigued by them promise rather good improvements and seem to have many safety features and i really like the idea that they can be reprogrammed for your next car so are they really as good as they sound or are they a waste of time and money? any help is greatly appreciated
  22. Hi, Wasn't sure where to put this topic, so please move if it's better suited elsewhere... I'm looking to paint the front and rear brake calipers on my focus, and in order to do a decent job I want to remove them off the car completely and clean them up and paint them properly. I'm pretty handy with a set of spanners, and have taken them off before to change discs and pads, but where I come unstuck is on removing them completely. The car has done 70k miles so the brake fluid could do with a full flush, so with that in mind I'd get a mechanic to replace the fluid and calipers but my question is what do I do with the brake lines after I've disconnected the caliper? I've read that it's not a good idea to crimp them as it can damage the line, so can anyone offer any guidance? Thanks, Tom

I've read the guides on here but can't see anything specifically related to the Titanium X. I've found the following (interchangeable??) part numbers but I'm unsure if these are the multicoloured variety. BM5Z-13776-C BM5Z-13776-D Thanks in advance.
  24. Bumper trim / protector ?

    Hi chaps. My Dad recommended I join a Ford forum form a good source of info. Well here's my first question. I have a MK3 mondeo hatchback, 2ltr turbo, tdci, ghia X and someone has stolen (or its fallen off ) the small strip of trim in the rear bumper. Im not sure what the correct name is for it and Im having trouble trying to find one on the internet. My car is Amazon red ( I think ) but dont mind one in black either, any thing will look better then it does now. The car is in great nic and this will finish it off nicely. Any ideas what its called and the best place to get one from ? Cheers guys !!
  25. Today marks a full year since I have had my MK3 Focus TITANIUM. What better way to celebrate this than to share some of the little changes I have done to it as it became my little project. Given that I am a menace when assembling things, I chose to let people with skill help me out rather than break things myself. Without further ado, please find below my little pride and joy. 1. Delivery. Last year this time, i went to pick up the keys. I was extremely excited and also fed up with the waiting. I ordered my car during a period where the Factory in SAARLOUIS is pretty much closed. Consequently, I had an extra 1.5 months delay on my delivery and when I saw it in the showroom I fell in love with the colour. I chose the DEEP IMPACT BLUE because of the catalogue. I really liked the way it was and in my mind the contrast with all those chrome bits and pieces would work. While this is subjective, I believe the blue suits the Focus perfectly and if you get the extra chrome parts around the car you get some nice results. As it was October, I told my dealer to put the winter wheels on straight away. There was no point for 3 weeks of summer tires and then go back to the garage and put the winter tires. In my area, winter tires are a must and the law enforces solid behaviour regarding this. My car arrived with the classic 16 inch alloys with 215 Continental Winter Tires. Not the best but now that I look back, they were solid and I will put them back next week :). Some annoying squeal on rain but grip on ice is good. This is how the little monster looked on delivery. It had less than 100 km in this picture. 2. Spring and Summer When the time arrived, I quickly went to my dealer and told them to put my summer tires on. I chose 18 inch alloys and decided to put Michelin Pilot Sport 3 as i had some experience with them. I am running 235/18/40 W tires and they are fun as hell. Comparing to how it originally looked, the wheels changed the car completely. I have no issue running these wheels contrary to what people say around these forums, when people want to upgrade from 17 to 18. After cruising for thousands of KM with the car, I came to the conclusion that if I am going to enjoy the car more, I needed to get rid of some of the body roll and twitching on braking. As I have the autobahn 40 km away from my house, unlimited speeds are quite common there. My country has a plethora of twisty roads so that body roll had to go or else. I then started looking into the one thing that could help with that : a suspension. Given that I was no stranger to suspensions, I have a second Ford, clipper, with a Bilstein Eibach combination, I was trying to make up my mind what to get. I looked into Bilstein, I looked into quite a few brands and then I settled for KW. A mate of mine has a TT RS with a KW Clubsport 3 way and after a few laps on the Nurburing with that, I said, KW is the way to go. I then had another dilemma. Which KW to get? They offered 3 possibilities for my car. After a few sleepless nights, I decided to go for the V3. It gave me everything I wanted in terms of adjustments and if decided to go hardcore, I would be able to do some corner balancing as well. After 3 days of wait, my KW V3 was built in germany and shipped. Two more days passed and the DHL van arrived with my brand new suspension. ...and of course the final result. Once this was on, the car was reborn. I started to lose contact with the brake pedal. Left turn, just accelerate and turn, right turn, press the accelerator and turn the wheel. The stability I gained from this suspension pays for itself every day I get in my car. Funny story, when i went to pick up my car, I wanted to sit down and pretty much fell because after so many months of sitting down in a certain position, the car was significantly lower. The mechanic laughed at me and said i should be careful now because the car is lower. After a few weeks, the suspension broke in and lowered a bit more. Springs were not as rough, however, the unavoidable coil rattle at low speeds is present. A small price to pay for a car that corners so well you will pretty much overtake on the inside on the outside above or even under. It goes wherever you point it and will not complain. The roll is minimal and the grip on braking is difficult to describe. Something worth noting here, the suspension is a good way to improve handling and to get confidence at higher speeds. Unfortunately, one does not need to forget that if things do go wrong they will go wrong. No doubt about that. A month in and i was already thinking of my next change to my car. What could I do to make it even more enjoyable? I made a few phone calls and I was given an offer for a remap. I set up the appointment and went to the guys who offered the service. They looked at my car and said I should not worry, the 1.5 ecoboost, rated at 150 hp, does not have 150 hp. I has between 170 and 175 on the dyno. Ford detuned the 182 version but not as much as some think. I was surprised to hear this and did not actually believe him. He ran my car 3 times and it averaged 175 HP without any modification. He then proceeded to load the new mapping and now the car has over 200 HP @5000 rpm. They also installed a cotton BMC airfilter and advised I change my sparkplugs every 15000 km to make sure all is in good order. The original Ford mapping was not bad but it was difficult to access. I drove through the Alps, the Chamonix area, and those hills up required me to constantly keep my car 4500 to 5500 for it to pull when I needed it too. This was annoying on the standard mapping and the new map gives me pretty much everything between 2780 and 5000 rpm. Much better mid range acceleration and lower consumption. 3. Winter and short term I doubt many cars, for the price range, handle the way my car does. I also doubt many, similar engine, burn rubber the same way, however, I must admit, others sound better. I am truly disappointed in the 1.5 Ecoboost and the sound. My significant other has a Fiesta which i helped her choose. We added a 3 cylinder ecoboost engine which sits at 165 hp with a pipe cross air filter. The car sounds beautiful and whenever I am in mine i just cringe. Having said that, I decided to change things a little bit. Some may have seen, I opened a thread on these boards regarding a rear valence. My car does not have Zetec or ST bumpers. It has the classic MK3 ones and flexibility is not really there if I want to change the exhaust. I ordered a duplex exhaust and realised that it will not be the best choice. The guys I ordered from were nice enough to let me change it given that they hand craft them for my car. I went for a single exhaust due to the limitation I have. For the time being, the car looks like this : As you can see, even if I custom cut the left side for an exhaust I have the risk of making my car look like really bad. The guys I ordered my parts were going to cut my valence and make sure everything would be perfect. I saw some pictures as to how it will look on a similar car to mine and decided to change the order. This does not look very good for me. Consequently, I will go for a single system. It is also more discreet and in case i do have a slight rear bumper issue, it will be an easy fix rather than have it custom cut again. I do not have any pictures yet of the new exhaust but I believe some specs will suffice for the time being. 76mm catback-system, right side 114mm round straight wide edge 200 cells HJS sport-catalyst / Euro 6 approved I get the exhaust installed at the beginning of November so I will continue my car log then.
