      it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hello All New to this forum and to FORD Have this very interesting problem with my Ford Mondeo MK4 2009 2.0TDCI Manual Titanium with Button start. It had a small crash to front passenger side (UK model so left) knee airbag deployed along with both front seat belts. I have replaced Airbag and Seatbelts, cleared codes but did not replace Airbag ECU as was able to delete crash data (there was an option on diagnostic device I was using) and that worked. No airbag light no problems with that. BUT The car will not start if I press the start button. (bought car after crash so don't know if its linked with crash) I have checked all fuses. (clear) Checked Starter( works) Thing we found is that Starter relay receives signal when button pressed, Clutch pressed it sends signal to engine ECU but earth does not come from ECU. If you give earth directly to starter Relay and push button car starts. SO engine ECU does not give EARTH to Starter Relay. I have also checked the wire that goes from relay to ecu and it is not damaged. Any smart people out there that know anything about it? Any questions i will answer asap Could it be linked to the crash? but never heard of that before as we did have other cars that start and drive after crash with airbags deployed.
  2. Just went out got in the car went to start to be greeted with an awful crunching grinding noise and no start, tuned the key a second time and fired into life. Sounded like the starter motor to me and is the first time it has done it since I have owned it, What is even more annoying is when a work colleague has not had her car serviced once in 6 years she has owned it and it has never let her down, I look after mine and try and keep on top of stuff and they still let me down, so guess I am gonna need a new starter motor on it very soon. I actually had less trouble in 6 years of owning my MG ZTT which had 117k miles on it when I bought it than I have had with my Focus in 2 years which had 68K miles on the clock from memory, it has recently passed 92K miles but still a fairly low mileage car for its age. Just a rant really.
  3. Hi Apologises if this is the wrong place for this but I do need some help I have a Ford Focus ST170 but i'm having problems with non starts. It's been in the garage two times already. The first time I had a non start I unplugged the fuel pump fuse plugged it back in again and jump started the car to get it running, however an Engine Management Light came on. I took it to the garage and they carried out an electrical Management System Test which revealed the fuel pump driver module was offline which may have been caused by low power supply from a flat battery. They also carried out a battery and alternator test which came out as ok. There is no reason for these to be the problem as both the battery and alternator are less than a year old including the terminal wires. So they cleared the fault codes and road tested and all is fine for a day. The following morning another non start back to the garage. So they confirmed there is no new fault codes and nothing is wrong with the battery and alternator. They carried out an Engine Compression Test and revealed its between 100-110psi when it should be over 160psi. They concluded that it was possibly bore washed and introduced a small amount of oil to the combustion chamber and left over night. The following day they fitted new spark plugs and it worked again for a day. The following morning another non start! What confuses me is how can it work fine for one day each time yet on three separate occasions in the space of a week be followed by a non start the following morning. Each time it's ticking over and sounds like it wants to start however isn't. I would love some advice on the issue because each time this is happening its costing Cheers
