Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hi All, First time working on a transmission system and I've made my car (Ford Focus mk2 1.6 zetec - manual - petrol) severely pull sideways by turning a small black adjustment knob on the top of the transmission differential that had a retaining clip on it. I've circled it in red in the attached picture. It sits on top the differential block, just above the RH drive shaft with a small sheet metal retaining clip that pulls over it to secure it. If anyone could tell me what it is/does? And how I readjust it back to being equal? That would be great. For those interested I changed the oil seal on the RH driveshaft and needed to refill the oil, I spent sometime turning and pulling at it thinking it was the filler plug to top the oil up. I found the correct filler plug after doing research but when driving off I noticed my car has become extremely unstable and pulls to one side, skids when at full lock and jumps to the side when driving over wet drains. Quite a drastic effect for something so easy to turn but definitely not good for the tyres or putting stress on the gears. Thanks in advance, Chris
  2. Hi guys. I've just bought a stunning mk7 Fiesta, 1.6 diesel 2009 from a local dealer. At first the car drivers very well (I don't have much comparison though as previously I've been driving a nearly wrecked 2003 skoda fabia). The problem is that when I start to accelerate more dynamically (such as when overtaking on a highway), the powertrain icon comes up. It's kind of unsettling as I have just collected my car (today afternoon), and even though the car is superb I can't help but think that there's something very expensive that's broken and that's on my very first day!! Especially that I've taken the car on 5 year financing. I went through countless forum threads but none of them has actually an answer what this icon can actually indicate. I've got that wee device that you plug into the car to read the fault codes but nothing comes up. I've made a photo of the icon, you can clearly see it if you zoom enough. Any suggestions? Should I speak with the dealer about it? As far as I know I have 14 days cooling off period for the financing so I'd like to sort it out as soon as possible to avoid any potential expenses. Thanks in advance! Konrad
  3. My fusion lost power and powertrain warning light came on. After 5 minutes i restarted and car drove ok but same thing happened. Its a 1.6 petrol with manual box. Scanned for errors and found u0166 which is something to do with auxiliary heater connection. Can anyone suggest where the problem could be coming from? Has this error got anything to do with the loss of power? I have had this car from new since 2008 and it has 49000 kms, regularily serviced. Car runs fine and no noises from either engine or gearbox. Thanks for your time.
  4. I have an 06 diesel focus, 1.6 tdci. Recently the Powertrain warming light has appeared but has not affected performance until today when it went into limp home mode and lost power. Any ideas of the possible problem? Also tried to use the dash to get the fault code up but once it said no DTC's and the next time there was no codes, is this normal for a problem like this? Thanks
