Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hi All! The remote locking on my Ford Focus MK1 2002 has stopped working and I cannot figure out why. I replaced the battery in my key. This did not work. I bought a new blank key and tried to pair it to the remote central locking. This did not work. I put the key blade and battery side of the existing key onto the new keys RF chip side. This did not work. I can lock the car manually fine, I just cannot figure out why the remote locking is not working. The car enters programming mode ( 2 - 0, 4 times) and beeps, but pressing or holding down the buttons on the key does not result in another beep to confirm remote pairing. Could it possibly be fuse 63? Or has the remote transponder in the car died? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  2. Hi, Can any one help i have a mk5 fiesta zetec s and I brought a cobra remote central locking kit. The wiring has me confused I need to know what colour wires under the dash to connect into. I need to know the colours for +30 positive source +15 positive both side of the indicators the positive for the central locking and the negative for the central locking. also if you could tell me if the standard central locking is a negative control or positive control please. The model number for the after market is cobra a1046. Thanks in advance.
  3. Ford Focus 2002 I bought a used Ford Focus about two weeks ago. Remote wasn't working but previous owner "guessed" I only needed to change battery in the fob. This is what I have tried this far: - Changed battery in fob twice. - Opened the fob to visually inspect the remote's circuit board. - Tried "programming" the remote by turning key in ignition 4 times to slot II (I hear the first chime from the car, but not the second chime when pressing the remote buttons.) - I have checked the common error 'Fuse 63' and made sure it is not broken (with an electric device). Remote appears to be "dead" so I have ordered a new remote from a locksmith. But perhaps the remote itself isn't the problem? What else could it be? I read in this thread: http://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/ford-focus-central-locking.44797/page-2 ...that they recommend unplugging and re-plugging a box marked with 'Siemens' (the remote receiver box?). But I'm not used to repairing cars so I don't know where to locate it. What do you suggest I try to get things working?
  4. Remote not working

The remote on my 2010 fiesta is not working. I have replaced the battery but it is still not working. Any one know why and if I can fix it myself?
  5. No remote key

Apologies if this has been posted before. I have spent sometime looking but it's difficult to find a post that answers all of my queries for my specific situation. I recently purchased a 2013 Ford Mondeo Estate 2.0 TDCi but the car only came with 2 normal keys (see attached image), no remote key was supplied. These keys are a real pain because I have to open the drivers door, put the key in, and switch on the ignition before anyone else can open a door. if I don't do this the alarm will go off. We I look on eBay I can see that there are a lot of uncut key fobs for sale at a reasonable price but no one is selling a key for 2012 and above Mondeos. I have found a few keys which are the I think are specification I need but they go for £60 plus. Whats more, they fob seems to be a key-less entry system. The manual that came with my car explains how to program a new key but putting the key in the ignition and following a procedure but I'm not sure how this would work with a key-less system. Could someone please shed some light on this for me? Specifically, I'd like to know: What are my options ie am I forced to get a key-less fob or could I also get a remote key? Can I program the key myself? Is there anyway I can go about this for a reasonable price? If I get a remote key and program it, will it also switch off the alarm? Apart from this problem I am happy with the car and am enjoying driving it. Chris.
  6. Hi All My daughter has a 2006 Ka with central locking which works fine, but a friend of ours is breaking a StreeKa which has central locking operated from the keyfob. My question is can I use parts from his to upgrade hers to the same system? Obviously I will need the keyfob, but is there a control unit that I can just swap from his to hers or is it not that easy. The StreetKa is a 2004 winter edition and all parts are available, so if anyone needs anything let me know. Thanks in advance.
  7. New key fobs still not working

Hi all , iv read countless solutions to the dreaded key fob not working but my issue is a bit different. My 2007 focus estate Tdci stopped working. I changed battery, also i bought another new key fob from eBay. I have done the ignition key thing of turning it from 0-II 4 times and got the chime, then on both fobs i have pressed a button and GOT the confirm chime to say they are synced. But after waiting more than 20 secs and turning to II to stop procedure there is still nothing happening from the fobs. Key works manually to open and lock all doors from driver door. When i do unlock it by the key there is a chime when driver door opened and i have to insert key to stop horn/alarm from going off. If another door is opened before i insert key to II then alarm will go off too. i checked fuse manual and looked at no.55 (central locking) its fine, Cant see any other related fuse to look at. I want to avoid a Ford garage as i have been a bit unhappy with previous service from my local one. Any ideas of what the problem could be ??? Please help, sounds tedious but when iv got 2 kids the fact i cant just unlock to open boot without alarm going off is driving me nuts .
  8. Hi all. Hope someone can advise me....it's been a while since I've visited the site as not been driving for some time! Problem I have on my 57 plate 2.0tdci Mondeo tit x is the indicators do not flash when locking but do when unlocking. Have tried one and two presses of the fob. All doors lock and unlock correctly including deadlocking and convers dash shows alarm activation. Boot and bonnet switches appear to be working as they should also. Should I be looking to replace the c/l ecu in the osr quarter behind the boot lining or is there another possibility that anyone may have come across please? Grateful for any input! Cheers guys. 👍
  9. Replacing lost focus remote fob

So, I've lost my 3 button remote key fob for my 55 plate Focus. I don't want to pay Ford £££££££ for a new one and I've seen posts here about getting the but and reprogramming new fobs yourself?
  10. Hi all, I have an 02 plate Focus 1.6 Ghia which I bought with only 1 key. Its the non-remote type with the blue clip in it. I wanted to get the remote central locking working before I splash out on a full remote key (can't afford it at the moment) so I bought these - 2x Replacement Keyless Entry Remote Key Clicker Transmitter for Ford UK Ship New and have followed all the guides I can find online to program them but I cannot get the car to recognise them. If I turn the key between II and 0 4 times I get the beep to say it's entered programming mode but I cannot get it to do anything else when pressing the keys on the fobs. Am I doing something wrong? I'd like to make sure this works before I go to the expense of getting a proper Ford replacement remote key. Thanks in advance everyone
  11. Remote Central Locking - Mk2.5

Hi, The other day the fob in my car became quite intermittent. Then stopped all together. Assumed (Rightly or Wrongly) that it is a new battery required. Changed the battery, and got nothing. So assumed I will need to re-learn the key via the learning mode (0-II 4 times in 3 seconds). I must have tried to get the car into learning mode, 30 or 40 times to no avail. Has anyone ever experienced this? Not sure if it helps...but I was in FF2 & elmConfig a couple of months back changing a few bits....i wonder if I have accidentally unticked/ticked something that I shouldnt have. Cheers Gary
  12. New Key

When i bought my s-max it only came with 1 key. So I have been to the local ford dealer to get a new flip key. The one that they said is compatable is only half compatable. It can start the car no problem. The problem is that it will not oppereate the remote central locking. I have tried the steps on multiple sites. Any ideas ?? I'm suprised that they gave me the new design flip key, not the first design
  13. I have had to purchase another remote for our Grand C-max, Not from main dealer. Can I reprogramme it myself or do I have to go to a main dealer. It is a keyless start and not keyless entry. When I have removed the cover off where the ignition barrel would be there is only a plastic holder without any slot for a key. The remote slides and latches in nicely though? Photos of key fob below. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards Rob
  14. Bought my wife a second hand 2010 Edge and it only came with one manual key (likely not original) which has a red insert containing a 4D-63 chip. I'd like to get a flip remote fob without paying dealer prices, but I don't know which type came with the car originally, or would either type work? (please see photo attached). Car has central locking. ...and has anyone changed their key blade in the remote on the right? Do the key blades look like the ones pictured next to it?
  15. Hi and Happy New Year ! Being the time of the year that makes us just want to jump out of bed and get out in the cold and start our cars every morning, I was wondering ^_^ Would it be possible to somehow change the wires from the central locking that go to the trunk unlock and solder them to the ignition so that when I push the trunk unlock button on my remote it would start the car ? I have a 2007 1.6 Ford Focus MK2, and the remote is the kind built-in with 3 buttons (lock, unlock, trunk unlock).http://www.carkeyhelp.ie/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/ford-remote-key-hu100.jpg Thanks !
  16. Hi I have just bought a 2004 Ford Focus which I am really impressed with. I have an afternarket stereo with steering wheel control capabilities but cant figure out the wiring configuration from the stalk. The stalk adapter has 3 wires on it. The stereo doesnt have a block but has three wires that needs to go into the block. I have a GND and two other wires on the stereo. Can anyone tell me what wire goes to what on the stereo stalk cables. One is on its own and two next to each other. Many thanks
  17. Hi, I've had my second hand Focus for a few months and a week or so ago the remote key fob stopped unlocking the car properly. I assumed it was the battery, so after waiting for an eBay replacement to arrive I opened the key, put the battery in and gave it a test, nothing. After a spot of googling I found out about the reprogramming mode done via the ignition, I did it and pressed the lock button after the beep, and nothing. I've seen conflicting literature regarding reprogramming the key and if a second remote key (which I do not have) is involved, my own manual doesn't seem too clear on it and numerous forum posts have not helped either. I don't have a multimeter, so I'm unable to tell if the key is completely broken and needs replacing or if it's working and it's somehow the car that's failing to receive the key's signal. So, first question, is there any way I can be sure which is at fault, the key or the car? Second question, assuming the key is in need of replacing, what is the actual procedure? It seems I need a new blank remote key (eBay I'm guessing), that may or may not need exclusive reprogramming by Ford. Many thanks for any help.
  18. Focus Remote Key Fob Replacement

Hi, Was wondering if anyone could help.. Recently bought a 2001 ford focus but it only came with two standard non-remote keys. I don't want to go to a ford dealer and pay a ridiculous amount for a remote key so was thinking of getting one from ebay and getting it cut to suit.. After reading about reprogramming a new key I think I would be able to programme it with the immobiliser as I already have two keys? However because neither of these keys are remote themselves I'm not sure if I'd be able to programme the new key to work the central locking. Any ideas? Thanks!
  19. I had a 2009 Mondeo Titanium and when you unlocked the car with the remote the headlights would illuminate making it easy to find on a dark car park. Is there any way of achieving this on a 2008 Focus titanium? Thanks
  20. I have a Mk 6 Fiesta (Zetec, Climate). As far as people have told me, it is capable of remote central locking, but just didn't come with a remote key when I bought it second hand (it was only supplied with the standard 'passive' engine/door lock/immobiliser key (with a blue 'chip' in it). If I wanted to add RCL, is it easy/cheap to do? Also, how might I check once and for all whether it actually has the ability to lock remotely? The lights flash when I lock it manually with the engine key, if that means anything. It also has a boot popper button in the dashboard, and I'm 90% sure it has an immobiliser. Anybody know?
  21. I had a mechanic out to look at my 2007 Ford Fiesta Zetec Climate because of a battery problem. I bought it from a reputable nationwide dealership about 4 months ago. While he was fixing it, he remarked that the key I have doesn't look like an original. He said it had a 'blue' chip in it (for the immobiliser I assume) where usually they're meant to be red. He also said most of the originals are the remote type which activates the central locking.... Does anybody know whether my car is actually capable of remote central locking or is it not meant to have that feature?? I'll admit, for a car of that age, when I bought it I did assume it had remote central locking; it wasn't until I actually got the keys handed to me that I realised it wasn't.... Which is a bit annoying as there's only a key slot on the driver's side door.... Anybody know??
  22. Hi My key for my fiesta (below) seems to have a very low signal and struggles to unlock the car remotely. It has to be pressed quite a few times and on the drivers side in order for it to work. I've put a new battery in and the insides of the actual key are fairly clean so I presume that isn't the problem. Is it worth programming it again perhaps? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mG3R58-24QU Thanks in advance for any replies. (I've searched and as far as I'm aware this hasn't come up before)
  23. Hi, I'm thinking of getting Remote Locking for my MK4 Fiesta 1999 v reg. It already has central locking but I don't have the Red Master key (I'm trying to track it down). Would anyone know how much Ford may charge to fit the remote locking with or without the master key. Thanks for your time.
  24. Fiesta 1.4 Zetec 2003 Key Fob

Hi peeps! Im new to forums. I have a ford fiesta 1.4 zetec (53 reg), i bought it recently and i only got one key i assumed not main key as non remote key). i assumed that the car has remote locking (as my friend has a 2004 version and has remote locking). What is the main key for this car supposed to look like?? :) And does this car have remote locking? how do i find out if it does!!! Because i bought a new style flip 3 button key from ebay ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121119273771?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 ) and then realized that the car may not have remote locking. so i want to make sure before i cut the new key! Thanks a lot!! :)
  25. Hello all, FIrst post here so please be gentle. I have tried searching the forum but can't find any other post that answers my question, so here goes........ I can only open the boot with the key, neither of the remote releases work. I have removed the back panel and can see the actuators moving, but they don't seem to be able to pull the cables far enough to release the catch. Tried greasing up relevant parts in a vain attempt at fixing the problem. Has anyone experience this problem, or does anyone have any ideas how to fix it? Tried googling to find the actual parts but no joy so far. :( Chris
