  1. Well it has taken what seems to be an age but the RS has finally arrived. And god it's awesome. Here's the back story of order to delivery which I decided to keep pretty much to myself as I knew the wait would be hard enough without sharing the pain with you guys. February 2016 - Never thinking I could ever afford an RS and that the Fiesta ST MP215 would be the pinnacle of my Ford ownership I saw an advert on a Ford dealer website offering repayments of almost exactly what I was paying for the ST. But wait what about the insurance I here you ask? OK that's what I was asking anyway. So I did a quote and found that the premium was actually a few pounds less than for the ST. Oh god that makes it feasible. So off I trotted to my local Stoneacre dealer to see my friendly salesman Steve. We sat down and placed the order. RS mk3 in Nitrous blue, standard seats with blue bolsters, lux pack, 19" forged alloy wheels, sync2 nav system and door edge protectors. Fantastic everything I want and expected build date to be October 2016. £1000 deposit paid. Only problem is that RS orders can only be placed at Ford Stores and my local isn't one. So the order is placed via the Doncaster branch, he can't see anything on his system so will have to ring Doncaster for everything. Two days later Steve rang me. "Good news and bad news" he says. "Good news is we have a cancellation with a build date of May 2016, bad news no door edge protectors" let me think...I'll have it!!!! March 2016 - Then the horror stories start to come out of the forums and Ford themselves. Oil leaks on the production line no cars being released and many a potential owner getting ***** off. Then I get the dreaded call. "Your build date is being put back to June but you can have the door edge protectors" Well that's OK one month extra but everything I wanted, I can live with that. April 2016 - bad news continues. Build date back to July. June 2016 - Build date back to October. News on the RS forum that the winter pack, (heated seats and steering wheel) not previously available in UK but was in Spain, I don't understand either, is now available in UK. Get me that I tell Steve but only if it doesn't delay the order any further. He gets it on the build schedule, happy days. I also find out that one of the reasons for the delay is that Ford have run out of Nitrous Blue paint. Seriously? Sack the guy responsible for that. August 2016 - Ford Fair is quite painful as all I can see are RS's at ever turn. October 2016 - Sent an email to the RS team at Ford UK. Can you confirm my build date please? Reply states it might be December but two week shut down over Christmas means it might be the New Year. Enough is enough now. I'm very unhappy and seriously considering cancelling my order. So I march off to the dealers. Steve checks and is told that they have a build date of 10th November. Another email to Ford UK later that day to be told, "actually yes build date is 10 November and here's your VIN number. Whooop. Straight onto ETIS and there it is and they started building on the 8th two days early. November 2016 - Over the next few weeks I watch the car being built including an upgrade to Sync 3. Then I remember we've never actually sat down and worked out the finance in detail. Better get that done then. Off to see Steve, he's nowhere to be seen. Off sick I'm told he's had an operation and not due back till the New Year. *****. Anyway Paul says don't worry we'll sort it. What did Steve arrange for you. So I told him. "Seriously? That's a cracking deal." says Paul. I'll see what I can do. December 2016 - 5th - Paul rings. Car has landed at the dealers. If we can sort the finance you can pick it up on the 10th. God I'm nearly wetting myself now. Problem is they can't find any of Steve's paperwork, great. We discuss the finance and of course the screw tightens, your ST is now 9 months older and has 10k more miles on it so its only worth......f*** all. Jeez what now? A bit of hard talking and I get another £2k out of him. That's better. But I still need to find a bit more cash and the payments are £50 more per month than the ST. Just before Xmas, not good timing. So I juggle some finances around cancel the wife's Xmas presents, joking, and no problem I'll come in tomorrow to sign the papers. 6th- Where's Paul? His day off! Ahmed will sort it, he's the sales manager. We sit down and he gets the finance details up on screen. Your payments ill be £330 a month! No they f***ing won't be, says I. He's only quoted me on the current increased list prices not the cost when I ordered back in February. So panic over. Finance signed, Collection agreed for 11am 10th December. Saturday 10th December- The BIG day - Drove the ST, on fumes, to Doncaster, it needs 4 new tyres, current ones are like slicks, and the 3rd year service which I never got done and saved myself over £500 in total, so if you buy it make sure these have been sorted. I'll miss that car it has brought me 3 years of driving pleasure and many great memories. I arrive at the dealers to see the car in the showroom covered with a Ford car cover but the profile is unmistakable. I sign what seems to be every page of the bible hand over the ST keys and V5. OK sir if you'd like to take the cover off your new car? ***** hell not half I'd like to; Right that's all the buttons explained, phone paired let's get this show on the road. Hope I like it? Like it, it's chuffing amazing. What a car, like brown stuff off a shovel, more comfortable than the ST and sport mode transforms it into something else. I'm never going to tire of this. Here's a couple of photo's on the way home. And it's first wash That's all for now guys. I'll try update this thread over the coming weeks and months but it's hard when you never get out of the driving seat.
  2. Hi I'm getting new alloys for my focus mk2 pre facelift. I'm lowering it 40mm with eibach pro kit springs and getting 18 inch wheels. Although I like the mk2 st alloys I don't wanna be a sheep and look like every other focus. Has anyone any idea how the mk3 rs alloys would look ?? Any pics??? Or even other suggestions, I'll post the alloys in talking about below. Thanks

So yesterday i had a 17 plate Audi S3 rear end me in the focus :( How i out-breaked him i don't, know but credit to Ford brakes ensuring i did not hit the child chasing his football into the road! My question is now, is an RS rear bumper a straight fit to my titanium or will the rear arches be wider and cause the bumpers to not sit flush? I also presume that the boot lids (mine has a nice dent now) are all the same throughout the mk2 facelift focus range? Meaning i can in theory get a replacement boot from any mk2 focus thats being broken for parts?

    Hello, I am looking for some information regarding upgrading the lower half of my air box to the ST250 or RS lower air box with the duel (Top & Bottom) air entrances (Picture 1) I have a 2014 Focus 1.0 Zetec S with the single (Top) air entrance (Picture 2) Is this a straight swap? Thanks
  8. Hi all, My names Jason, I'm 23 and live in Burton, Staffordshire. I'm new to the forum but have previously been a member of Zetec S Owners Club & Fiesta STOC. First off a brief history of my car past. My first car was a MK7 Fiesta Zetec S Metal Edition! Next up, was a Panther Black Fiesta ST3 (MP215) Due to my circumstances changing, having to do a lot of long distance driving, I had to sell her :( and get a MK3 1.6 TDCI Focus Zetec. Got me from A to B and a solid reliable car all round. Had a surprising amount of talk and felt more powerful than 115 BHP, and the gear box actually felt really nice. But it was just too slow and boring for my liking, so as soon as I was able to I got rid of that. And so that leads me to now, my new beaST, a Frozen White Fiesta ST3 with ALL the trimmings! Collection Day: So I plan on keeping this car for quite a while (until I can eventually afford a MK3 Focus RS - my next goal!) More Pics after her first clean: I was going to go with Mountune to keep the warranty...but it's a 65 plate and only has 1 1/2 years left on it...so by the time I have the Mountune stuff done, it will be out of warranty anyway. So I plan on going with REVO instead. My overall goal is to have Stage 4 w/ Hybrid Turbo. That being said, my first performance mod may still be the MP215 kit as well as the Mountune Exhaust as I think they both finish the car off nicely and will keep me going till the warranty runs out. So in the mean time it will be mostly cosmetic mods + MP215 and Mountune Cat Back. First thing I did was have the front lip wrapped matte black with a red pin stripe. I think this looks great on the white and makes the front look a lot more aggressive. Next up, I swapped the front headlights for white 6000k bulbs. I will eventually be getting HIDs installed but this was just to keep me going until I order a full HID kit. I will also be replacing the Fog lamp bulbs with white 6000Ks. (Haven't got a good picture of these yet but when I do I'll post one) Next I added my Leather ST seatbelt covers from my last ST. Haven't got a pic of these either yet but when I do I'll add to the post. I also added a ST badge logo in the void on the steering wheel as I'll be getting a cover eventually and that would cover up the logo already on the wheel. Think I'm gonna swap with for the black gel one from DMB eventually though. Next one is gonna be a marmite mod, I can tell. Ordered these decals from eBay. Everyone so far loves them but I imagine some wouldn't. And finally today, my Team Heko wind deflectors came. I added a red pin stripe, but not sure if I'm gonna keep it or not yet....I haven't decided if I like it or not...thoughts? So that's where she stands at the moment! I have some white LEDs coming Monday for the number plate and interior lights so I'll update when they are fitted as well as get some pics of the exterior lights and seat belt covers. Thanks for looking guys! I'll be keeping this thread updated when more mods happen. Got big plans for this car in the future and I'm really looking forward to achieving them and having you all involved! Any feed back is much appreciated :) - J

    I went to the Easter meeting recently and thought I would post a couple of videos that I have put together showing some of the cars that were there.   10. Focus RS mk3 review

    So I've had the RS for a month now and thought I would share my initial thoughts and opinions good and bad about this much anticipated car. This thread will only be for my on-going thoughts and opinions rather than any mods or other upgrades that I complete. If you are interested in those please see my other thread Philf1's Nitrous Blue Focus RS. This is my daily driver so it has to be able to do everything any other car can do as well as having the performance abilities the RS is best known for. In my first month of ownership I have covered just over 1200 miles of totally reliable driving. The car has not missed a beat once. I have driven a mixture of roads, motorway, A roads and country B roads. All have been handled impeccably. The steering is very precise point it where you want it to go and that is exactly where you end up. Acceleration is savage, when required, but more than able to be driven sensibly in built up areas. It's almost like having two cars in one. The ride is really comfortable compared to my previous car, the Fiesta ST with Mountune 215 power upgrade, in normal mode. Power is put down well no drama in any gear and brakes are quite amazing. The standard seats certainly help in the comfort area as well as being heated which isn't an option on the shell seats. However put the car in Sport mode and the it is transformed into something quite different. Throttle response is quicker, steering stiffens as does the ride, quite considerably and more like the Fiesta. The throttle response is so sharp that you have to take extra care in town driving. The stiffer suspension makes for far better cornering than normal mode but can be switched back to normal ride whilst still retaining sport acceleration and steering. Sport mode also gives you the infamous pops and crackles from the exhaust, always fun when unsuspecting pedestrians are around, or in tunnels. The cabin is a good place to be. Not very much different to any other Focus except for the flat bottom steering wheel with RS logo and blue stitching. However everything is there in easy reach and familiar to any Ford driver. I was fortunate enough to get Sync 3 due to delivery delays and I'm please with that. From all accounts it seems to be better than Sync 2. The large touch screen display is clear and relatively easy to navigate and set up. Sound system, I have Sony speakers and sub-woofer in the boot, is clear and good quality. DAB reception is as good as the signal so a bit hit and miss, I use a mini usb for my own music and sometimes my iPhone as well, all are good. and the display shows not only track information but a the album cover for the track being played. The sat nav is straight forward and includes 3D rendering in town centres. Also displays the current speed limit and has speed camera locations and warnings, very useful. Directions are clear if sometimes a little close to the actual junctions. I previously used TomTom and don't think this Ford system is as good but it is certainly capable. All the instruments are well laid out and clear. The heating is extremely efficient getting warm really quick even on the coldest mornings. Auto lights are good but not convinced about the auto wipers yet. I've not really found a satisfactory setting for the sensitivity yet. The bi-xenon headlights are very good. Excellent beam pattern that adjust dependent on external conditions they also feature an adaptive cornering feature at low speed. I was initially sceptical about 4 doors but they are actually a bonus you don't realise how much you missed the rear doors until you get them again. Rear passenger space is good with plenty of leg room and according to my passengers is a comfortable ride. Boot space is limited due to the 4 wheel drive system and the sub-woofer with the floor being level with the rear bumper. However coming from the Fiesta it is still large enough for my needs even including getting my fathers wheel chair in laid flat rather than stood up blocking the rear window. When I collected the car the salesman told me to keep a close eye on the oil level. Evidently oil consumption is high, I've read about a litre every 1000 miles. So far I'm at about mid-way between max and min levels. I will need to keep checking this every time I wash the car. It uses fully synthetic 0w40 so a trip to Halfords with my discount card will be required soon. The tyres supplied are Michelin Pilot Super Sport and seem to be fully capable of handling the performance in all conditions. I've never really a Michelin fan but these might change my opinion, time will tell. There are only two real issues I have with the RS, one is the turning circle. It is appalling how bad this is. It's actually embarrassing when parking or trying to get through gateways etc. Obviously Ford decided that the RS would never be driven into a Sainsbury's car park or around mini roundabouts. I really don't understand what possessed them with this aspect when everything else about the design is so good. The second is the size of the fuel tank. This is small, only about 52 litres and at the rate the car guzzles this is meaning two fill ups a week. Good job the sat nav has petrol stations as a POI. I'm not going to discuss MPG figures yet for a couple of reasons. Firstly it will only upset me. Secondly the first 1000 miles don't really give a true reflection of what it will achieve long term. So far I've not had the opportunity to try Launch Control (roads are too greasy), Track mode or Drift mode (not something to try on public roads) yet but will update this thread as I do. Overall I absolutely love the RS. It hasn't disappointed me once so far and every time I get in it makes me smile, what else can you ask from a car? If you have any questions please ask below and I'll try to answer them honestly for you.

  13. Escort Gti 3 Door Breaking

    Hey guys, So, hopefully by the end of February/ start of March i will be able to afford to afford to either upgrade my fiesta ST or purchase the new RS for which i am so happy and grateful about. The only issue is i cannot decide what i want to do :'). I absolutely love my fiesta to pieces and have a real connection with it but i have also dreamed of owning and RS model since i was driven around in my uncles RS2000 Mexico. Would to hear your thoughts on the matter guys :) Dan

  25. Focus Mk1 Exhaust Manifold

    Been looking into turboing my 2 litre zetec engine. Ive read that you can use the escort rs turbo exhaust manifold but is it possible to use the manifold from a mk1 focus rs? Or can anyone recommend another manifold that is turbo ready and better to use. Thanks in advance and sorry if this is discussed anywhere else but I couldnt find much relevant to the info I need.
