Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Focus Door Lock Stuck

New to the focus (2005 mk2). i was driving all well and fine until it came to getting out of my focus, the drivers door wouldnt let me out. The top part of the interior lock seems to be stuck on lock and no matter what i do, (unlocking the car, pushing the lock in and out) it wont return to its original position. surprisingly it will still lock, but in order to get out of the drivers door, i have to wind down the window and open the lock by opening the car door from the outside. following this, i thought the door lock was simply stuck, so i continued to pull the handle harder and the bottom part of the lock (handle you pull to get out), seems to have come unstuck but still wont let me out. Wondering what i should do and if its possible to fix it cheaply?
  2. I need some help figuring out what is cousing the following probem on my mk2 petrol focus: Sometimes when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, the shifter stucks half way. It doesnt let me put it in the 2nd gear, only at second or third try. No grindig noise can be heard. Any of you encountered this problem? The clutch is in good condition. The car has only 130.000 km. I unmounted the gearshift cover and greased the ables that can be seen there. The interesting is that it only has this problem occasionally, not every time when I shift to 2nd. Somebody told me the cables underneath the car need adjusted. Any advice? Thanx!
  3. Aux port stuck in console!

Hi everyone, I have a mk 7.5 fiesta and my aux port has become stuck inside the plastic of the car and I was wondering what you'd recommend I do to get it out. Is it particularly hard to get to it, or even worth my time? Or should I just bite the bullet and take it to my local ford dealer to get fixed?
  4. Heater Stuck On Cold

Hi All, Focus 2002 1.6 Ghia saloon Petrol. The temperature control knob was stuck on cold, I physically could not move it across to hot. I thought it might be a broken/seized/kinked cable but when I took the cable off at the knob and at the drivers feet I could see that it works fine. With the cable removed (red arrow below) I can see/feel that the little black knob it attaches to (green arrow below) is stuck and will not move. Does anyone know what I can try next. I've read elsewhere that the "Blend door" could be stuck. Anyone know where this is or how I can get at it to perhaps manually move it to warm? (It's getting pretty cold out now!). Should I try and remove the white piece in the picture below? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Handbreak Help (H)Required

Hi guys, Hope this is in the right place i have a 2014 fiesta (UK) and have somehow managed to lose a very important key in this rather poorly placed void that coincides with my pocket position :P does anyone know how i can get it out? or maybe take the surround off to get to it? thanks!
  6. Hi all, So a little back story to the problem - I took my car out last night and whilst meaning to leave it in reverse gear while parked, I accidentally put it into forth, which caused the car to shunt forward with a bit of a loud grunt. Afterwards I drove the car back to my place (using all the gears), perfectly fine as if the incident before hadn't happened. This morning whilst getting into my car for work, I could happily put the car into first and second (luckily I needed reverse first), and the gear stick will not move to the right at all or select any other gear. The car will actually move as normal on the first and second gear but being unable to change from these is a massive issue. I've seen some similar posts and mentions of using WD40 on parts, but I am completely useless when it comes to cars. Any suggestions as to what it might be? Thanks very for any help Dan
  7. Please help!! Have brought an s max 2 days ago, have driven the car over 100 miles with no problems. However driving today the car just stop dead in the middle of the road. It felt as if the handbreak had been put on. I put the car in neutral then back into drive and still nothing. Then put the car into park then back to drive, still nothing. Somebody that was passing then jumped in the car and managed to get the car to the side of the road. Once the car was put back into park it then wouldn't move again. It is an automatic handbreak, so it usually releases itself. I tried to release the handbreak myself (the handbreak light came off on the dash) and it still just feels like the car has the handbreak on. The car goes to pull away, the back end squats but it just won't move. Had anyone else had this problem? Please help!!
  8. Hi, Car started to develop an intermitten problem, after starting it is stuck in park. The button on the gear shift changer will not depress to allow change of gear. Brake lights are all working fine, and it is completely intermitten. I also noticed that is reving very high in first before changing up to second, all other gears are function correctly. I put the car into a garage, they believe the fault is the solenoid at the base of the gear shift changer (see picture) however they are not able to identify it to order a replacement. If you manually press the solenoid the gear shift changer works fine. Can anyone assist in what this solenoid is called, or some kind of identification. Also if anyone has any other ideas what the fault might be I'd be happy to go play around with the car. thanks Richard
  9. It's almost MOT time. But, my middle seat belt is stuck. It is completely tensed and will not budge. I have got to the reel but there's no freeing the belt up. this happened last year and I got a new belt which worked for a while then did the same. So surely it must be something other than the belt itself?
  10. De Tango Problem

I have de tango'd my lights however there are some pieces stuck on the edge of the light making it look tacky... any suggestions how to get these out? drivers side lamp there are two big pieces passenger side there is a small piece (hardly visible) not too fussed about this one however would be nice to get it out
  11. I have an issue with my ageing mk1 focus's recirculation valve motor, it is stuck completely open and when the button on the dash is pushed the light comes on and off and there is no whirring or buzzing noise from the motor like you would expect. I have checked the fuse and it's fine and I have unplugged and plugged the connector in to make sure it wasn't just loose. Do you guys have any other suggestions apart from ripping the whole unit out and replacing it? Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi, I bought my 2000 reg ford fiesta 4 days ago now. The heaters are stuck on hot. I have replaced the heating control valve and i got a replacement control panel thats in the car, that you use to control the heating system. I replaced them both today and i still have the same problem. I have also cleaned the contacts up on the plugs, incase anything had got inside them. i dont have air conditioning. Its a simple hot/cold system Also the previous owner had decided to cut the wire to the heater control valve (hcv) and connect the power source up to the battery, this made the blowers cold ( i assume they did this so they didnt bake). I had taken it to my mechanic and he said it may have caused a fire as the hcv would of had two much power going to it. He connected back up to the original wires, and this made the blowers blow hot. He said either part would need replacing so i replaced both. those being the hcv and the control pannel. PLEASE HELP :-(
  13. More bad luck! I'm sorting out registrations, private plate to standard and I discover one of the bolts is threaded on the existing registration plate. So, a closer inspection to remove the boot door panel, no problem and I've done that dozens of times is the Golfs as the wiper motors always seem to die BUT its completely threaded, it just goes round and round and round.. I can't cut it because a saw blade won't fit under the head (I have around 1.5mm max play) then it will leave the rest of the screw stuck in the hole and I'd have to battle trying to get it out with molegrips. Also there's a metal wedge that appears to be glued with some type of foam that prevents you from getting to the female bit the screw goes into, however I did manage to get some molegrips attached but even giving it full force the screw is well and truly threaded
