Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Subwoofer

Does anyone know if it is possible to use a sub woofer with this stereo.
  2. I have the premium Sony sound system with the 10 speakers in my car. I keep losing the centre and sub woofer randomly when driving and it won't return until the car is powered down for a while. The head unit has been replaced, and this still hasn't fixed it. Curiously this started happen after a software to try and fix other issues with the previous head unit. Does anyone know if there is still a separate dsp/amp in the MK3.5 or is it now contained in the head unit its self? I am going to call Ford directly and see what they have to say about the matter as my dealer is running out of things to try and things to replace!
  3. In case anyone doesn't know, Ford offer speaker upgrades which can be fitted at Ford dealers http://www.ford-accessories.co.uk/fiesta/2012/infotainment/audio?intcmp=other:acc:pdp:prod-list-view::select-product-group# I'm just wondering if anyone has had either the sub or speaker upgrade installed in Northern Ireland. If so, which dealer did it and would you mind sharing how much it was in total? I'm interested in having the sub (and potentially speakers) installed in my 2013 Fiesta Zetec S Ecoboost. I previously rang up Boucher road/Mallusk (can't remember which) in Belfast/Newtownabbey. They initially told me they don't offer speaker upgrades, and only checked after I explained that it is advertised on the Ford accessories website. They weren't able to give me an estimate of how much it would cost to install. Presumably they haven't done it before, and in the end I didn't bother as they didn't inspire me with any confidence and were generally unhelpful.
  4. Hello peoples of the Ford Owners Club! I have a 2009 Focus Zetec and I'm keen to upgrade the stock audio system. My wants are only to add some subs (underseat - gotta save that boot space) and some new front door speakers. After some deliberation with many audio fitters I've been told that the Focus is incapable of housing an underseat subwoofer due to the limited space. It seems the Kenwood subs (links below) are the thinnest around (70mm) and they still catch on the seat when it moves. Now feel free to absolutely roast me but I have to ask: Is there anything wrong with placing it sideways with velcro (as per) onto the air vents under the seat. Not blocking the vents themselves of course, just resting on top. The cardboard model I made seems to fit fine and with room at the sides for the cabling. Before I buy two subwoofers though it would be good to know if this is a terrible idea first of all. Anyone else with similar upgrade experience to the focus? Any help would be much appreciated. :) Michael https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-kenwood-ksc-sw11_p-31239.htm https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-kenwood-ksc-sw01_p-25624.htm
  5. Focus Underseat sub

Hi guys, I have a 2015 Ford Focus Titanium, with Ford Touch SYNC2 (8" display etc, standard speakers etc). I would have liked to have an underseat subwoofer but didn't notice this or advised when I purchased the car last year. I have searched around on the web to see how easy it is to buy an underseat sub and install myself, but I haven't found much to help. Ford do offer an install at around £180+. So my questions are: How easy would this be to install an underseat sub myself? (will I need to run cables to battery or headunit?) Has anybody had the sub installed by Ford? how does it sound? (with similar Ford Touch 8", standard speakers) Cheers for the help in advance! Wayne.
  6. Sony Head Unit Sub Install

Hi all, 1st post and I'm wondering if it's possible to install a sub using my stock Sony Head Unit. I'm unsure if I need a converter or if the back of my stereo has the capability. I have nothing but the sub so any help to cabling would be awesome. Sub with a built in AMP Fiesta Titanium 61 Plate Thanks in advance people!!
  7. Hi All, I have had my Mondeo 2.0TDCi Titanium, since March and I love it, but have only just noticed that the subwoofer in the boot which is part of the audio upgrade package only works with the rear speakers on. If you fade the sound towards the front of the car the sub gradually stops working. If the sound is faded all the way to the front then the sub doesn't work at all! I'm guessing the sub is wired into the rear speakers only, but that seems to be a very odd way to connect it, surely it should work all the time?? Has anyone else noticed this?. Any thoughts?? I've contacted Ford on Facebook but they say they can't tell me if this is how it should be or not! They said take it to my dealer but I don't want to waste my time if this is just how it is..
  8. Fez Boot Build?

Hey guys so I'm thinking of making a boot build for my fiesta Zetec s and was just wondering if anyone has done it already as any pics for inspiration will be appreciated, I'm thinking of taking the spare wheel out and putting a sub in and line the boot with red LED strips and a Perspex sheet to cover the amp. As stated, any help, advice or pictures are very welcome! Thanks guys
  9. Hi, I am new to this forum but thought I would see if anyone else has noticed an odd setup with the Sony/Ford audio in the 2016 Mondeo? I have had the car, a Mondeo 2.0TDCi Titanium, since March and I love it, but have only just noticed that the subwoofer in the boot which is part of the audio upgrade package only works with the rear speakers on. If you fade the sound towards the front of the car the sub gradually stops working. If the sound is faded all the way to the front then the sub doesn't work at all! I'm guessing the sub is wired into the rear speakers only, but that seems to be a very odd way to connect it, surely it should work all the time?? I've managed to check this in a similar car and that was the same. Any thoughts??
  10. UPDATE 19/01/2015 - I started this thread specifically for my sub enclosure. From there it grew into a general ICE thread. It's now turning into a general thread about mods/maintenance to/on my car. I also have topics on; Fiesta mk6 HID Retrofit - This topic shows how to fit Facelift head/tailights to a pre-facelift Fiesta mk6. It also explains how to install Bi-xenon projectors and HIDs without hurting the bank. I hope you enjoy reading, and subscribe to stay up to date! _______________________________________________________________________________ Few images of my custom sub box build... Just want to note now that I'm not building this box with competition specs in mind.. It's simply built to 1.) take up as little boot space as possible whilst 2.) providing more bass than the stock speakers. I'll be upgrading the rest of the audio in the car in due time! Just want to show off my amazing test of the box with a 6.5" "sub" although my box was designed for a 10" :) I'm using 12mm MDF and some strips of Ply to build my box. I'm also gluing all the joints with No Nails & Screws to make it as solid & airtight as possible. More pictures to follow once my sub, amp & carpet arrives! Fire away with any questions
  11. Hi guys. Ive recently been installing a Subwoofer into my Fiesta Mk 7 facelift. Since its a newer car, not much has been written for these. Once ive done it all ill post a thread explaining what the differences are to help anyone out in the same situation. Ive hit a few problems in the process. For a start, the wiring diagrams found for the head dont have any matching coloured wires to that in my car suggesting that ford have changed the colours around. The second problem is the two 12v power cables in the back of the head unit are both more or less constant. Since ford has a stereo that stays on without the ignition, the sub stays on while the ignition is off. would routing the power remote wire to my 12v socket be the best idea? obviously dont want the sub on without the engine. Finally ive got alternator interference which i think I can fix but if anyone knows a quick fix thatl be awesome.
  12. pioneer active sub

Im after ordering a active sub pioneer wx110a for my fiesta mk7. Whats the difference if i order it from fordparts uk or ebay apart from its cheaper on ebay. Do i get some sort of fordspecial fitting kit if i buy direct.
  13. Sub Installation

Hi I'm trying to install a sub in my fiesta mk7.5, I've got everything in and working except for the RCAs, I'm trying to find a way to connect them to the door speakers preferably without removing the head unit, any ideas ?
  14. Hello Can anyone help me on tips with how To run a amplifier power cable To The Battery On a 2009 Focus? Any help would be much appreciated Thanks Chris
  15. Is any one able to give me any tips on how to run a amplifier power cable to the battery on 2009 focus? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Chris
  16. Subwoofer On My Original Sony

Hello everyone. I am new in this forum. I am planning to connect a subwoofer (and power amplifier) to my original Sony (Focus II, 2007). I think I have the Sony CD132 (one disk, mp3). I managed to make myself the extraction keys, and they work ok. I'd need the pinout of its connector to know if there is some subwoofer output, or I will have to use two speakers outputs to feed my amplifier. I would like to know if there is some "remote" output to trigger my amplifier. If it is not, I will use +Acc wire. The sticker of my radio shows this model: CDX-5F611R. I'm not sure if this is the 132 model, I will search for the original manual at home. Thank you in advance. Very nice site :P

  18. I've just bought a brand new fiesta 1.0 ecoboost and i have a fli trap 2400w subwoofer that i want to put in however i'm struggling with where to get audio from and where to connect the switch live to? is there anyone that has done this already or knows a little about it? ie what i can use where i can get it from? thanks
  19. Has anyone wired up an amp/subwoofer to the ecoboost models yet? The stereo wiring is different to the pre-facelift MK7's so the guide isn't very helpful. I'm not brilliant with electrics so wouldn't know how to determine which wires are which. Any help would be appreciated. It's the Standard head unit not the Sony one. Thanks.
  20. I have a pioneer double din stereo with preouts ect. I have a bassface active sub, the only problem I have is getting the power cables from the sub to the battery, how do I get through the bulkhead (or firewall) to the engine bay from inside to out. I hae tried to locate grommets but can't find any and the home were wires already go is too tight for anything. People have suggested drilling through but I don't really want to do that as I'm only a rookie, does anyone know any easy way through?
  21. Hi guys. I'm fitting a sub to my 2001 plate (pre facelift) focus and I'm at that stage of deciding how to run the power cables. It seems the two ways I could go is running the cable in the same hole the main loom takes but I can't see how to get to that, or drill a hole in the wheel arch. I am wondering if there is a third way- possibly run the cable off of a spare space in the fuse box behind the glove box. Is this a nutty idea? Which rout would you say was the best? Rob
  22. Hey guys first topic lol probs already a topic on here but i might be having my fiesta longer than expected and i love the sound it already makes with the sony system built in it but would like some more base could i just connect one of these into the system or would i have to get a new radio etc? the subwoofers pioneer ts-wx110 or inphase usw10 ultra compact active subwoofer please help and thanks!
  23. This was going to be my next question on my subwoofer installation thread (unfortunately that was lost in the recent data loss). The idea is to splice into the rear speaker outputs with one of these converters so that I have an rca out for the sub as my 18 year old head unit doesn't have one :), which I've been told is fine to do. Question is will I need to use a powered converter or non powered? as I want the rear speakers to still work (see below if you don't know what I mean) No difference in price, I just want the correct one :) Powered - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Auto-RCA-Stereo-High-VF-Low-VF-Level-Line-Speaker-Converter-Cable-Z005-UK-/180750216315?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item2a158d6c7b Non powered - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Speaker-Converter-High-Line-Level/dp/B004UA753G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385666290&sr=8-1&keywords=rca+converter Any help is appreciated.

I upgraded my fiesta 1.4 zetec 2003 standard stereo to a SONY BT4000U :) however the bass needs a bit of a kick Any one got any good ideas of subwoofers around £120 range (preferably twin subs) i was considering Bassface 12" twin subs ( http://tinyurl.com/mt2uvxm ). are these any good? im new to the car sub and stereo world! (my first car!!) thanks :) :)
  25. Hello all I'm new here and any assistance would be much appreciated if possible. I have a Ford focus 2012 model with the Standard head unit sound system and I'm trying to install this Sub.
