      it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hi all! I need some advice.. im getting a stereo fitted that has apple car play. It requires a whole new facia, which Halfords have supplied. It's a double din facia. But they say I need a new hazard lock switch before they can fit it. They've said ask at a ford parts centre, which I have done & they say they don't sell the switch & it should all come together. So I'm confused as to what sort of button I need & where I can get it from. Any advice? the double din facia looks as though it's fit the switch that's came out the factory with
  2. Hi guys Picked up a Fiesta MK6 a few weeks back and realised the reverse lights were not working when I put it into reverse gear. I assumed it was the bulbs as a couple of the break light bulbs had gone which I have since replaced. On inspection, the reverse light bulbs seemed fine but then found that the fuse had blown. I replaced this too but I am still not getting any reverse lights which leads me to think it is the switch. I was wondering if anyone has had similar issues and what the best way to access the switch would be to clean/replace it Thanks
  3. This is a guide to fitting a Light Switch unit with a dimmer dial to Ford Focus without one as factory fitted. The part used came from a C-Max MK5 PART NUMBER-4M5T13A024BA Undo the T25 Torx and pull off the panel to the door side of the drivers area. Unplug the ODB port from the panel so as to avoid damaging the wiring (needs 3 hands really to push 2 metal clips and pull the Port clear) I found it was easier to reach the locating clips of the light unit from the gap at the side and had to push, pull and wiggle the unit to get it out, finally pulled forward and down to unlocate the top one first then got the bottom one clear. Unplug the cable loom from the old unit. Check the units are the same size and the plugs are the same. Attach the new unit and test the lights, dimmer and levellers. Push the new unit into place (takes a bit of a push). Relocate the ODB port into the trim and refit to dash. Replace the torx and Roberts's your Mothers Brother.
  4. hello everyone, recently I have noticed that rear dome light does not turn on every time I open the trunk, in last couple of days there was no rear dome light at all. I have checked the light manually and its OK, I can turn it on using the light switch but looks like that trunk light switch is not giving contact for the light any more. Focus is MK2 Wagon like this one http://www.european-parts.net/images/product_images/original_images/focusmk2stoffturnier01.jpg and I dont know where is switch located, probably its behind the trunk door plastics but I dont know how to remove it, no screws, should I pull it? Or to spray some contact spray on the trunk door lock? What do to guys? Thanks !
  5. Hi guys im having problems sourcing a second hand power steering switch. My cars is a 1.4 zetec petrol on a 52 reg will any mk 1 steering wheel switch work from any mk1 model? Or do I need the specific model that I have. I dont want to take the gamble and buy one for £20 from the scrapyard. New one costs £56 from main dealer. If anyone can help asap that would be much appreciated. T ha nks in advance.
  6. Hello all, great forum here that I've been reading for a while. We've recently purchased a 2012 Fiesta Edge which we really love, but I am in the process of fitting some parking sensors front and rear into the factory positions. I have no issues with the fitting of the sensors, or with vehicle electrics etc. as I've done this many times - but I want that factory look in our 'new' car. I've ordered the 'Front Parking Switch' and bezel from Ford and it is exactly what I need. I've even managed to work out which pins provide a momentary action to engage the parking sensors but for the life of me am unable to get the backlight or 'on' light to work on the bench out of the car. I'm led to believe the multiplug for this bezel (which can also house the ESP switch and Airbag Off light) is present in all Fiestas. I'm hoping when I take the dash apart tomorrow I will find this plug and plug it in - if anything to get the backlight working. But does anyone have any experience with getting the 'on' LED to work, I'm guessing this would normally activate a Ford Module for the factory sensors, but I still cannot figure out on the bench how it illuminates the LED, even following the PCB tracks under a magnifying glass. If anyone has done this before (I guess not as I did try searching) and can help in any way that would be great! :)
  7. Hello, This is my first post so please bear with me! I drive a 2007 MK6.5 Fiesta Zetec, with little history of any problems at all. I got in the car late last night and to my shock, the regular headlights wouldn't work. All other lights worked - sidelights, foglights, indicators, full beam, etc. but my dipped beam and rear headlights would not come on. First thing, I checked all the fuses but they all were ok (it would seem highly coincidental for them all to go at the same time), and had a look at the bulbs (again unlikely all front and back went at the same time). I also notice that when I try to turn my headlights on my dipped beam symbol does not appear on the dashboard, but my full beam, sidelight and foglight symbols all appear when they are on. Through a quick search online it appears that maybe the headlight switch mechanism has broken - has anyone much experience in taking these out and replacing them? Is it a case of once this is broken I need to fully replace it? Or is it possible to fix? Any recommended places to purchase a replacement? Thanks in advance for any help provided! Craig

  9. 1998 Escort

    Hello good people of FOC, This is my first post on your forums since I have just inherited my Granddad's 1998 Escort, I'm hoping that you guys will be able to assist me over the next year or two that I plan on owning this car :) I saved the poor car from meeting the scrap heap as my granddad managed to blow the head gasket and took it upon myself to fix it. After a few weekends of work I managed to get it all fixed and running again, but there is still a problem. The radiator fan isn't kicking in when the temp picks up, which is probably the cause of the blown gasket. I have found that the fan is still functional by shorting the wires to the fan switch and therefore blame the fan switch itself. Now, the switch looks new.. which means that it may not be a Ford part and therefore may not be rated to the correct temperature as the original switch. The switch is rated at 100-95°C for low fan speed and 110-105°C for high. I want to know what temperatures the switch is meant to operate on an original part. If there are any MK VII owners out there can you please help me out by checking yours? Should I buy a lower temp rating to help prevent overheating? Thanks in advance
  10. Retro Fitting Front Fog Lights

    Hi there, I recently purchased and successfully fitted fog lights and a new switch to a 2006 ford focus mark .2 I've found the correct wires for the fog lights in the wiring loom that goes to the main headlights. When I activate the switch though, no power is fed to these wires. The front fog light warning light on the dash illuminates so I'm assuming the switch is working fine. I can't see any record of there being a separate fuse for the front fogs and the relay seems to be shared by the front and rear fogs. The only assumption I can draw is that the relay fitted to cars with no front fogs is different in some way to those that have factory fitted front fogs. Does anyone know if this is the case, and if so what relay it is that I need to get the front fogs working? If this is not the case, any ideas where I should next check? Any help and information is greatly appreciated! Cheers Chris

  12. Whenever a passenger had the arm resting on the arm rest on the door i noticed that the switch would make an annoying creaking sound. Today i popped the switch out using a trim removal tool and applied grease to the edges to stop the creak however when i popped it back in it no longer sits right on the front area and with enough force on the switch it pulls out from the door card with ease. Anyone had any similar issues with this, I tried moving around the clip to try fix it but nothing seemed to work. Looks worse than it is in the picture How it is when force is applied

  14. Hello I've recently bought a Ford focus 1.8 TDCI (58 plate) and was wondering if it was possible to hook wires up to an empty switch located on the demister panel (picture below) which would then be used to tun interior lighting on and off? Thank you :)
  15. Mondeo Boot Problems

    Hi All, First off, thanks for any and all help on this. Problem is with my dads mondeo estate (58 reg) in that the boot wont stay shut, this has only started to happen since the snow, so my first thought was that some moisture has gotten somewhere, but would like someone elses opinion on the issue, so a quick run down of the issue, unlock the car, boot stays shut for about a minute then unlocks/opens, shut it again and a minute later its open again, you can here the switch/relay thing trying to open the lock even with it open. So i'm now thinking it could perhaps be the switch, which if it is, is it an easy replacement or something for the garage to look at? Thanks again
